Everything It Needs To Be

5/5

A great time saver from first glance. I like the tables, fluff, and thematic content in each appropriate section of NPCs . This book will help me to improvise and to have the right tool at my finger tips when needed. Excellent

Is this released yet? Anyone got a link ready?

Unfortunately, we've run into a few minor last-minute production snags that are likely going to push the release of Pathfinder Tokens: NPC Core out until sometime next week.

Our hope and intention was to release today alongside the book itself, but we also really want to avoid the issues we ran into with the initial release of the Monster Core pack last summer, so we're going to be taking a little bit of extra time to make sure we can deliver the most polished product possible right out of the gate.

Sorry for the delay. We know a lot of folks have been really looking forward to this (I'm one of them), but I can also assure you that when it releases, it'll be worth the wait!

I'm fine with waiting, the portrait gallery we got before paired with this will be phenomenal for every campaign. A week isn't that bad of a wait. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Putting an update here for the community! The PDF for NPC Core has been fixed! Previously, the bookmarks were lumping all the NPCs under Artisan, but these bookmarks have been corrected. If you already downloaded the old file and want to make sure you're getting the new one, click the "problems downloading" link first to make sure you are telling the website to repopulate the file, thus producing the new one, and not just send you the old one again. We're sorry this took a while, but happy to see it resolved! If you still have more issues with it, though, please reach out to our Customer Service Team at customer.service@paizo.com for more help! ^_^

Do we have any news yet? I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that it's better a nice good product release taking the time you need, than a bad rushed one.

Having said that, the anxiety is unavoidable haha.

can't wait for the Token pack ^^

I know what you mean, I was hoping to use the new art in my games, though I don't mind waiting a bit longer.

Looking forward to the Foundry tokens for this!

Though, I must admit... with the Pathfinder Tokens: NPC Core not even being listed on the store, I'm a little worried this might be a case of "oops, we didn't do it *scrambles*". :).

Another update for the Foundry Token pack here! The team is still working on this! We're giving it the polish it needs to be its best at release. Please hold on just a bit longer! We appreciate your patience in this!

This book seems very confusing to me. For example, the CR 6 PRIEST OF SARENRAE has 8 3rd level spells prepared, but as far as I am aware no class ever gets 8 3rd level spells. Similarly, the CR 5 Necromancer is an occult caster, but the only spell he has is a cantrip?

While creature stat blocks often do things PCs can't, both of those are based off of things player classes can do.

A PC 6th level cleric of Sarenrae would also have 8 third rank spells, 5 being heal spells from the cleric's divine font, and the other 3 being the normal prepared spell slots.

The Necromancer stat block is clearly taking inspiration from last year's class playtest which introduced the Necromancer as an occult caster with the ability to summon undead thralls. While the playtest class has some spell slots beyond cantrips, I imagine the NPC version does not out of some mix of balance, layout, and ease of use concerns.

Any further update on the ETA?

No update yet, and I check daily!

I’m interested in how many higher level stat blocks there are (say levels 15+) and what those consist of. It seems that middle to higher level stat blocks would be the hardest to build for newer players but also something that may not get much use at most tables. Did Paizo provide any good options for those later levels? I’m looking for some strong NPCs to populate Absalom in my home game.

There's the...

Flamboyant Thief (15)
Deific Vessel (15)
Peerless Healer (15)
Grandmaster (17)
Enchanting Ritualist (18)
Grand Inquisitor (15)
Tempest Incarnate (19)
Eldritch Emeritus (17)
World Ender (16)

That's it in terms of level 15+ NPCs in the book. A bunch of level 13-14 NPCs as well.

I haven't had a chance to read the supplementary material in the book yet, so I can't comment on any advice or guidance the book gives regarding high-level NPCs.
