Something gnawing at you? The undead nation of Geb gains most of its international trade from the export of food grown on zombie-worked farms, but lately one farm has been the site of a series of strange occurrences. Dispatched to investigate the problem, the player characters discover a grave threat to Geb's minority living population, bringing them to the attention of the insidious Blood Lords who rule the land in the name of their undead wizard-king. Defeating the wicked forces behind the plot is the first step on a long road to gaining influence and power in Geb, but if the investigators can't solve the problem to the Blood Lords' satisfaction, their first step may be their last!

Zombie Feast is a Pathfinder adventure for four less-than-good-hearted 1st-level characters. The adventure begins the Blood Lords Adventure Path, a six-part, monthly campaign in which the characters rise from skilled troubleshooters to join the Blood Lords who rule a land of the dead. The adventure also details the Great Factions of Geb, whose favors are key to rising in political influence, and provides a complete gazetteer of the town of Graydirge, where the adventure takes place. New monsters, spells, undead companions, and more round out the bountiful buffet of "Zombie Feast"!

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world’s oldest fantasy RPG.

Story and plot are great, but there are big issues

4/5

It seems the players guide writer didn’t talk to the encounter writer. There are many encounters that need to be redone as the recommended party of undead ignore any void damage.

Heads-up to any Pathfinder Society GMs: after discussions internally, the Organized Play team has decided not to sanction the Blood Lords AP for Pathfinder Society play. The adventure has a number of horror elements that are not appropriate for public play, and the core elements of the adventure assume that the players are either evil or tolerant of evil actions, which is not in alignment with the Pathfinder Society's values.

We will aim to sanction the less-icky content for Pathfinder Society play via boons closer to the release of the final volume, but we will not be releasing chronicles. We hope you enjoy playing it with your home groups!

I think this significantly reduces the odds that my group, and I guess some others, will ever play this AP. We are playing almost only PFS and spending time playing sanctioned APs and adventures provides benefits that are likely to tip the decision. Too bad.

Note : "characters", not "players" ;-)

Geb is so thoroughly an Evil state that I can’t imagine the Pathfinder Society wanting to be associated with its troubleshooters and political agents. In the case of Blood Lords, we really are the baddies, and that’s a no-go for organized play.

Way I understood it, sanctioning did not mean you played the AP / adventure with PFS agents. Of course I might be completely wrong.

I just wanted to share a factual consequence of the decision.

TBH we have been playing exclusively online for more than 2 years now, each player in the comfort of their home.

Not sure that many people were watching from outside ;-D

Yes!

I can now definitively report that we are going to be releasing an official conversion of Blood Lords for Foundry, with the caveat that we were waiting to see how well Outlaws of Alkenstar did before we decided to pull the trigger, so we might not be making street date with the first volume.

But it's coming.

I just bought all 3 of the Outlaws of Alkenstar for Foundry. My group has been on a bit of a longer break so I haven't been keeping up with some of the new releases. I will definitely be purchasing all of the foundry adventure path modules moving forward though.

Would love to hear about the spells in the toolkit for this AP. I hear there are some bloody ones, which sound very appropriate for the blood-focused witch in my upcoming campaign.

Is it odd that I'm looking forward to the trailer for the AP? I hope my order ships today or tomorrow.

Hoping its not the final art, things need to look bleaker for an Undead AP, how merry is the halfling on the cover? (and not in a creepy, good way) and the adventurers have a look in their face like they are facing annoying children, not undead ravagers. Where is the horror? - art concept needs to be a bit more grown up IMO.

I actually love the Halfling. Her chipper demeanor hides the vile darkness in her heart. I mean, seeing a smiling Halfling with various body parts hanging from her person is infinitely more terrifying. The evil you know is better than the evil you can't perceive.

It is the worst AP cover ever. Compare to Ironfang Invasion if you want to see the difference between peak and bottom. There’s still time to fix this, Paizo.

Indeed. You don't want to know why she smiles at you. Both very creepy and worrisome.

Why wouldn't the halfling be merry? She's a member of the governing aristocracy, a necromancer in a land of the undead. Everything's rosy.

why are you still posting this. was posting it once and everyone calling you a jerk not enough

My comment was deleted and then people brought it up again on their own so I reposted my opinion and it’s already been liked 3 times. Doesn’t mean we don’t love Paizo just because we have eyes. And deleting negative criticism won’t improve any covers, not now and even less in the future. Quite the opposite in fact: letting the criticism stand is how you improve in the future.

You can criticize something without being a jerk about it. And without arrogance, "because we have eyes:", so your opinion is the only one that matters?

Your post was removed because you were being a jerk. Conversely, lots of people like the creepy cover.

They are not offering it at this time.

So disgusted with Roll20 with this news, I have a GM (she is new and has only GMed 2 short 5th Ed game sessions, as well as no experience with Roll20 so I am mentoring her) and my new player crew (also 100% new to PF II), made our characters and ready to go. Now I have to hand craft it in (again on Roll20 so have to delay the game a number of weeks.

Aaron, anything we can do here, I'm sure not but have to ask.......

SIGH

Tom

At present, Drift Crisis, Lost Omens World Guide, and Dark Archive are set to launch on Roll20 later this month. Other Lost Omens titles are in the works and Kingmaker - in all its glory - is in progress, with a plethora of exciting features set to make it one of the most robust launches to ever come to the Roll20 Marketplace. Paizo and Roll20 continue to work on many products and projects.

Sorry for the late reply but work has been brutal Aaron

Yep, I know all that and that's great if your doing homebrew or older AP's. But for us wanting to GM or be a player on Roll20 with the latest its no real help at all.

Having the Book of the Undead, nice but again almost not worth it as you can't apply it to the intended AP it was meant for.....

All common sense stuff and I know with your promotion (BIG congrats and very well deserved by the way :)) you have to put the best face on things.

But as usual it is what it is and I'll have to hand craft it in, again sadly....

Nice to see Foundry will be picking it up and might end up going thier by Mod 2, we will see!!

Anyone who has this now if I can ask, how are the maps and are there a lot not covered or do they have most of them?

Thanks

Thanks! When you get a chance, I would appreciate customer input on the PDF import technology that the merged Roll20/OneBookShelf have announced. A new thread would be best.

"In the coming weeks, we will add PDF support to Roll20’s VTT, giving GMs and players the ability to upload, read, share, and immediately play using any PDF in the VTT. No need to link anywhere else for your players!!"

If you get a PDF from our API and imported it into their site, would that catch you up on some of the functionality you are seeking?

Thanks bud, that would, only thing is the no hi res maps Roll20 gets when you both agree on a launched product.

For me personally I buy from you guys, Roll20 mostly. Then some from drivethrough RPG in their various aspects of mostly maps honestly and some Pathfinder 2nd Ed and Starfinder Infinite.

Pickings though there are pretty slim as I loo for AP expansions as well as PF I to PF II conversions. Almost wish Paizo whould open up an Infinite forum here so customers and the free lancers can have a goo dmeeting fo the minds to chat and discuss what they would by if made, and what they might be making for the future.

I just might start that thread up when it rolls out, not a problem.

Thanks again for the help

Tom

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

So I have a major question on how to handle an issue that I've already found in preparing to run this AP...

Spoiler:
How is someone supposed to play a Cleric or a Champion of Urgathoa (like the Player's Guide suggests) in this AP when most of the combat encounters in the first chapter are against undead and destroying undead is anathema to Urgathoa?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Spoiler:
This seems like a great opportunity for divine intercession by Urgathoa (page 49 of Gods & Magic. Make liberal use of the curses here if the cleric destroys undead.

AlwaysAMage wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Sounds like an RP opportunity to me!

More Seriously...:

You could try to enslave the undead or compel them to work for you instead.

You could run it as a lot of the other anathema are written where you aren't especially punished for protecting yourself when attacked.

You could just not care that much for the sake of allowing a cleric of the undeath goddess to play in the undeath campaign, or replace that anathema with something else appropriate to Urgathoa.

You could play with the Boons/Curses system as was suggested, or (assuming the player is into the idea) lean into the "cleric who is forced to compromise their ideals" and negotiate the anathema violations.

Remember: Anathema isn't a "you do this and now you lose all your powers". It may sometimes be that but clerics are useful agents for gods to interact with the world. Sometimes other punishments might serve the god's interests more than revoking power.

Liberty's Edge

Spoiler:
As an undead, I think that not protecting yourself would be anathema to Urgathoa.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Spoiler:
Even if you are not undead, you are protecting the interest of undeath as a whole - certainly that is not enough to warrant necessary atonement. Performing anathema does not immediately revoke the power either, so perhaps a cleric should perform acts of repentance to stay in her good (evil?) graces.

Just skimming through it:

Spoiler:

  • Hope the Graveclaw Coven is a Witch Patron.
  • Two new types of Hags mentioned: Rust Hags and Grave Hags. Therefore, potentialy two new Changeling Lineages in the future.
  • Main villain is a Vatalrana Vampire, which is pretty neat.
  • At least in the first chapter, there is plenty of opportunity and encouragement to handle most encounters in a non-combat fashion; involving controlling or corralling the undead involved. In fact, I seems to me that quite a bit of the encounters can be handled without combat; up until at least chapter 3 I feel.
  • Otherwise, this seems like a fun AP to me. Looking forward to the other parts. I'll have to really read through it to give a better opinion. But I'm looking forward to it.
  • Last thing I'll say is I absolutely LOVE the myriad of variant Zombies and Skeletons, and other monsters, we've seen. It makes for some potentially very creative encounters or campaigns.

  • Starfinder Superscriber

I'm waiting on the VTT release before I tackle it.

Anything on the map front, extra cool, the usual (Basic) or to many maps not shown kinda thing and did they nail the flavor of the theme of this AP so far?

    Thanks

    Tom

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Not sure what you're asking in regards to the maps; but, it is a little hard to say with certainty it nails the theme here. Without reading it cover to cover, it strikes me as being a decent start to a much larger plot. I'm not sure the them will pick up until volume 2. But I could be mistaken. It does seem fun and interesting, for sure. At least for me. I'm looking forward to the other volumes.

Looking at the amount of "oh crap" macabre art inside this book, the "oh no the cover isn't black and there's a smiling halfling, this is not how you do a cover for a horror adventure!" arguments are really not landing with what you get inside.

Are the maps pretty plain and cookie cutter or does it do justice to the farm and other places and the city map, hopefully.

Overall, from PF I to PF II sometimes the maps in AP's are quite cool and intricate, and at other times, not so much sadly.

Is what I'm kinda getting at here, already know the no Hi res if one does not go to foundry (Lucky them) but will I have to look for extra, or alternative maps or wait for the creatives here in the player/GM base to create their own?

    Thanks again for the post!!

    Tom

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Hmm. I'd hardly say they are cookie cutter? But I'm not sure. I'm hardly a cartographer. ^^

I will say that they are probably functional and have some visual flairs that make them interesting; like the walls of the manor being made of bones.

The map of the city of Graydirge is in the Player's Guide, along with a minor examination of some of its areas and lore. The real gazateer is in the First volume. Haven't sat down and ready it, but I'm sure it is useful.

Without getting into spoilers, tt's fine, but the plot doesn't really break the mold. I like the art except for the cover and a portrait on page 3. I thought the map environments ranged from good to mediocre, but the maps themselves are good (although several will be tricky to get on VTTs.) My favorite thing is the allied NPCs. I
