I had thought when Bestiary 6 came out I wouldn't need it.
How wrong was I!
This book will definitely take it's place as one of the essential Pathfinder books in my collection, if you're waiting to get this, don't! Get it now!
Well done Paizo!
My one complaint is mine had the same shitty yellow binding glue as the first printing of the Starfinder CRB, but I'm not dropping the rating because it is that good (also I still have binding glue leftover from my Starfinder CRB).
So Bestiary 5 was a bit disappointing to me, but this one is something that did something with Pathfinder I haven't seen in a while: gave me ideas that I wanted to use. A lot of the monsters presented are honestly interesting. As usual, there are some reprints from other products, but I always favor having consolidated lists of things. I won't use everything, but there is enough here that I'll be using a good chunk.
Also, the weremantis reminded me how much I love Portal, so I have to give it to them there.
So me and two other guys from my gaming group ordered this book from amazon. WOW, all of us have missing and or scrambled pages.
I have over 17 missing pages (most of the archdevils content)and more or less 20 pages out of order. I don't know if they are sending all the "special" books down here, but I can assure you I will never buy a physical book from Paizo anymore.
I was apprehensive and narrowed my eyes when I saw "Rawhead", but on looking it over (and finding out it has folk history) I'm glad it was based on said history rather than Barker's version.
The Pathfinder version is a moinstrous humanoid that can sense and can control bloody bones, and can make them by ripping the bones right out of a Victim.
They can also hit you with their presence even if you can't see them or you're not in line of sight.
Huh, wonder what the reason was for only adding new azata and not other celestials. What new azata are there specifically? Any high CR ones?
It really boils down to a combo of "We had some azatas to reprint, including the CR 20 one which has NEVER appeared in a hardcover," and "I, James Jacobs, the one who decides what goes into Bestiary 6, likes azatas the best of the celestial races."
Thessalhydra... who thought this was f*!#ing necessary?!
I did.
So necessary that I'm also the one who saw to its 3rd edition D&D reprint in the penultimate Age of Worms adventure. They've long been one of my favorite D&D monsters, dating back to their first appearance in 1st edition's Monster Manual 2.
And then the fact that "Stranger Things" name dropped them made me want to reprint them all the more.
And if you like the Whisperer, you should check out Algernon Blackwood's story "The Willows," which is one of my favorite stories of all time, and is the 100% primary inspiration for the Whisperer.

will do! I was also getting a Moon Bog vibe from em too.
Love all the feedback so far, but I'd love it EVEN MORE if folks did reviews for the book. Traditional wisdom in the industry is that with each monster book published they're less and less "useful" or whatever, and one of my goals with Bestiary 6 was to try to show that there's essentially an endless stream of monster potentials to keep a line going forever.
So, if you do love the book, please drop a review about it. For that matter, if you hate the book, drop a review too; just make sure to explain (preferably in a non accusatory way) what disappointed you about the book so we can keep that in mind as a potential way to improve future books.
Oh, I'm sorry JJ, i meant who thougt it was necessary to make such a thing in the first place. I'm like, who do you hate that much????
Explain please. How is this thing so Nasty?
It's Gargantuan, has draconic body with a long neck ending in a lamprey mouth and has a bunch of snake heads coming off of that, and a crab claw as the tail.
Reminded me of the first time I saw the Tarrasque.

Which, incidentally, was ALSO introduced to the game in the old AD&D MMII.

Oh I thought there was some lore on how it did horrible things or something. Like those blade feet weasles.

Asking for honest customer feed back. Excellent. This is what I like to see as a customer.
When I get the book I will post a review. Which reminds me I think I owe Mark a review of Horror Adventures.
Uh...should probably do Horror Realms too which so far is amazing. Occult Adventures...
Anyways, it will probably be a month before I get this book though. :(
So opinions based only on Special Abilities and Weapons, Baalzebul vs Mephistopheles, who takes the Crown?
Mephistopheles, by a few hairs. But what do you expect from the personification of Hell? :)
These two are my favorite of the Archdevils, I love their lore and history. So I like to image, if Asmodeus was gone who would take the Throne of Hell.
And while I think that yeah the odds are in Mephistopheles' favor I also kinda rooting for Baalzebul as the Underdog.
