OK, I like these. Heck, I like ALL the pawns. But I have a silly question. In order for to be eligible for the PDF, you have to have pre-ordered the pawns and have a PFAP sub...does that mean that the items have to show up on your account page as pre-ordered, or can they just be in your sidecart?
To wit: My Skull & Shackles pawn set shows as pre-ordered, but the Bestiary Box and RotRL pawns are shown as in my sidecart. Do I need to do something different, or does this count?
Hopefully, the above is clear...

Anything in your sidecart is considered "ordered," so you're good.

Cool, thanks.

PS. In case anyone's curious, there are 154 total pawns on a count of 81 separate pawns. Even better than initially advertised...WTG Paizo!

They're in the RotR Pathfinder Battles set as a common, so I suppose you could pick up some singles?
Ninja'd while finding the link!

For those considering printing your own - you can get a pack of self adhesive sticker sheets at Staples/ Office Depot, etc. These will go through a standard printer. After printing, peel a page off and stick it carefully on your cardstock and cut them out. I use a set of white comic book backing boards and it worked well.

The 4 goblin warriors from the Bestiary Box share one piece of art, and are distinguished from one another within the set by having their token number, 18, in different colored ovals. Of the 10 in this set, 4 use that same art, 3 use a different piece of art, and 3 use yet another piece of art; these have their token number, 5, in different colored ovals.
So, compared to the Bestiary Box, 4 of these are distinguished by having a different token number, and 6 of them are also distinguished by having different pieces of art.
I think it's likely we'll try to add some kind of expansion symbol to sets after this, but space is hard to find...

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the Expansion number. It's a non issue to me. A goblin is a goblin, and bothering to differentiate which came from what set seems pointless when I'll just dump "baddies" in one bag, and "Good guys" in another and mix sets, and only bothering to seperate when I know I'll need a specific monster into my "pending use" bag.

Although it doesnt really matter at the table, the expansion symbols are of value to me as an RPG collector.
Not as much value as a subscription, of course. *inno*
I guess that makes sense from that POV. I look at this kind of stuff as a tool and nothing more. I would not object to the expansion # to clarify, but I do not wish extra stress on the Paizonians.

What I'm really wanting to know is just exactly how much of the art will be reused from the Bestiary Box and how much will be original? If I'm just getting the same old goblin, ogre, giant, etc art over and over again I'd be less inclined to get pawn set expansions. I saw goblins mentioned above but could we get some more exact details on duplicates please?

Although i am new to the series, i know that there aren't all the runelords in this and there is no rune giant. Is this to encourage people to buy some things from WizKids?
No, I think it had more to do with the practicality of fitting huge and gargantuan pawns onto the sheets that minimizes waste. Additionally, they have bases for small, medium, and large. There were cost issues with having to make larger bases, I think.
But, there are there are Paper Minis to fill in the gaps of what you're missing.

Gargantuan minis just would not be feasible as a pawn as to how they are currently implemented. They would have to retool it somehow in order to get the Rune Giant involved.
Paizo is not the type of company that would force you to buy something that you would not want to. They would encourage you to buy something as they are a company that wants to make money. But only as an option but they did not plan this intentionally.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! My sidecart now says this won't be shipped until September. :-(

As a dire bear, Embers can be represented by pawn 147 in the Beginner Box. Since the Rise of the Runelords Pawn Collection is meant to work in concert with that base set (which, after all, has the bases you will need to use the pawns in the collection anyway). So if we could add a specific Runelords pawn by not repeating a basic monster from the Bestiary Box, we generally went with the creature in the Pawn Collection.

Speaking of bases...is there a plan to have a blister pack of a few more bases? Like 1 huge, 3 large, 5 or 6 medium and 5 small?
I thought I saw an answer that it was being discussed.
On a side note: I thought the "small" was using the same base as the Medium. Didi I miss something?

A shoe box must do thenThey will fit swell in the large Bestiary Box. This product is technically an extension of that one, which has all the bases anyway. Of course, you could skip that product, buy bases separately (once we figure out the costs), and keep them in a shoebox, as you suggest. :)
No bases other than the ones that I choose to buy is perfect for me. I'll be looking for some kind of multi-compartment craft box within which I can store them alphabetically. Or maybe I'll subdivide the BB with cardboard strips.
Any chance of sets of labels for conditions (dazed, etc.), with Post-it style adhesive on so they can be reused, to go on to the bases or pawns? Then back onto the card that they came on for storage?
Edit: Typo, *blush*
If you live near a Staples check out their "really useful box" line of storage containers...they are plastic with snap down handles to hold the top in place and offer way more protection that a cardboard shoebox. They come in various sizes too. I've been using them to store my plastic minis but will also use for my pawns as well.

Also available at Office Depot, Office Max, Orchard Supply Hardware, Amazon, and various other places.
See their range here.
We've got lots of them for our gaming odds and ends, ranging from the tiny (0.07l) to almost 20l (and there are ones larger than that). They come in different colours, so we can distinguish between my stuff (blue), my wife's stuff (purple), and shared (clear).
The 4l and 9l ones are the right size to take standard letter-size paper, and also have optional inserts which we use for organising miniatures.

Announced for June! Image is a mockup, and will change prior to publication.
As someone coming back to RPG's after a long hiatus, I truly appreciate the pawns you guys are making. There is no way I would have wanted to invest in the metal mini's just starting out, although I like the looks of them, and for a character I use them.
For running games, however, this saves me alot of money and at the same time I get to enjoy npc representation in my games. Keep it up, I really hope the other bestiaries will one day include these as well.

Well, the RotRL pawns don't have stands (because it assumes that you will use the Bestiary pawns) although they are planning on selling stands seperate at some point in the future.
However, they didn't replicate any pawns where the Bestiary pawns could stand in. The only example I can think of off the top of my head is the bear animal companion Embers for Hook Mountain Massacre. There is no pawn for her in RotRL because they assume you will use the bear token from the bestiary box.

Thanks! Didn't expect such a quick response. I guess I will plan on buying the Bestiary Box as well.

This may already be answered, but I have not scoured the messageboards. Why is the rat swarm listed as a small figure when the spacing for the bestiary listing is 10'x10' which is large? Do I just stick the small token on a large base? Just wondering.
Because swarms are designed to occupy the same square as the character they are attacking, I would recommend forgoing the stand for them and lay them flat against the board. They should occupy exactly 1" square each, so they will work the same as token indicating a trap or fire. (Now that's an idea for another pawn set.)
The cardboard pawns are actually better than miniatures when it comes to swarms.

Urath DM |

Swarms can reshape themselves from their square space to a line (which is why they're like that).
Liz, as noted previously, that was the rule in 3.5 but the Swarm Subtype wording makes that read is if only large swarms (made up of smaller standard swarms) are able to re-shape. As written, a standard swarm is always a square or cube 10 ft on a side. That might be worth re-wording in a future errata document.
