Read through the adventure and initial impressions are positive. I like the flow of the adventure and foreshadowing. The set pieces were pretty cool, especially part 3. Not the biggest fan of subsystems but understand in a complex rules system everything needs to be codified. The Bestiary had 3 very cool monster. Nice design work on Gambling Devil, Scrivenite, and Slithering Pit. Some very creative monsters.
Looking forward to the Nortlands Saga KS! Couple of Questions.. 1. I know you are pre-ordering Quest of Doom 2 for 5E. I've been mainly playing Labyrinth Lord/OSR games. Any chance of a compiled version for S&W? 2. I love Fields of Blood/Deserts of Desolation. Amazing reference books, is Mountains of Madness coming out this year? 3. Whats the status of Slumbering Tsar for S&W?
A perk that I would like would be having hi-res images of maps for the adventure paths/modules. Maybe subscribers get them as a bonus. I like how Wotc has allowed the artist for 5E to sell the hi-res versions of the maps for their adventures. For someone who runs most of his games online having hi-res maps are important to me.
I understand the reason for price increases but for the first time in the three plus years I have been a subscriber I find myself questioning the value of some of my subscriptions. The Adventure Paths and RPG line are solid subscriptions. The campaign setting and companions lines I'm on the fence. 96 pages of content for $38 minus 15% is making me question it's value. Half the time the material is not relevant for me. I would prefer those lines were beefed up and redone. I would greatly prefer if they merged into a quarterly release. I can stomach a quarterly hardcover campaign setting book rather then 12 tiny supplements. As my gaming focus has changed over the pass year and I've found myself enjoying the OSR D&D games I'm going to wait a month or two to see if subscribing is still worth it for me. Just my two pennies.
I'm always on the look out for new monster books. I own a bunch of them from OSR to PF. I was wondering if I am missing out on some. I currently own these: Tome of Horror Complete
What other monster books are out there? Preference is quality, substance(more then 64 pages), full color art, and in print. I do use 3.X Monster Books and probably own 90% of them. So don't inclued 3.X books.
Thanks everyone for their opinions. I did pre-order the book from FGGs. Skimming through it looks good. My only initial complaint is the 10 ft square on almost every map. 5 feet squares are so much easier to use. Overall looks good. Hopefully I get a chance to run one of these adventures. Also I'm hoping in the future we get VTT support on the maps. Playing 90% of my games online now I tend to pass on black/white books now. I want to use full color images in my games rather b/w ones. Plus having properly scaled full color maps are golden. Would be willing to pay extra for a bundles of maps to Lost City of Barakus, Stoneheart Valley, Rappan Athuk, etc
Hey Silver just check and thanks for the rundown on the adventure levels. I guess they decided to skip levels 2 to 3 and jump straight to 4th level adventures. It would of been nice to link the adventures together to form a loose knit campaign. How is the cartography on the maps? Also what is the general length you would guess on the adventures? A couple sessions worth each one?
Thinking about picking up FGGs Quests of Doom for Pathfinder. Before I do I was wondering what everyones opinion of it is? How is it overall? How long are the adventures? 1 or 2 sessions worth each one? Also how is the the cartography for the maps. Also are they any 1st level or 2nd level adventures?
