Byakko matches her stare and somehow discovers saliva enough for yet another disdainful side mouth spit. He keeps his eyes on the fey as he deliberately draws his sword. His tongue has lost its humanly qualities again, only a low growl slips from behind his slowly widening rictus grimace.

Cast Bull's Strength on himself prior to the draw if that's a thing he's capable of doing?

Enii stalks her way into a charging position, the growl from Byakko's throat matched by her own.

Elyan shakes himself as the Halflings calls him. So swift, all the time! Not an eddy to be seen in their constant flow. Better get used to it old man, or you'll flounder.

"Coming, coming!" He hurries over, examining the unconscious woman. "I... Will do what I can. It is meager..."

He lightly touches her wound and she appears to breath a little easier. "I think... She will be right. I'm unsure when she will wake."

Elyan has rarely seen such hasty violence, not for centuries at least. He questions his choices that lead him to a group so proficient in it. He makes a shaky attempt to knock an arrow but the skirmish appears all but over before he dare draw his bow. Not trusting his aim against foes with 'companions' in close proximity he puts a hand to the horses, as much to calm himself as to calm them. He tries to observe the remaining action and steel himself for the next time. This... is the world I've been missing?

Even Elyan has picked up on some disturbing undertones to this group. He elects to stay quiet for now as he is self aware enough to know he offers little in the way of de-escalation techniques. Besides, it is tougher to observe if you're flustered and in the thick of things.

He nearly bumps into a nodding dwarf as he sidles towards the door, grateful at least for a chance at conversation in his own tongue and not within the confines of a nearly botched relationship.

To the Bard Elyan decides he'd best nod, smile, and offer a weak, "Aye," as what little social graces he'd begun the morning with were already feeling heavily taxed.

Elyan leaves his room just before dawn and briefly breaks his fast alone under a nearby tree, returning as the others are gathering for their meal. He remains impassive as the Halfling approaches him.

"No need ser Halfling, I took no offense. I'd like to assure you the only thing further outside my experience than social cueing, is slavery. I hope... your piles are not grieving you as the half orc suggested." His face remains earnest as he relays his reply and his body language suggests he thinks the matter is concluded.

The elf's demeanor remains unfazed by the elderly halflings accusation. A slightly raised eyebrow is all the reaction he gives as he observes the chaos his introduction brings. He turns to Prestor as the smaller companions step aside, "Aye, that is me. I have maintained some contact with the Owlwise family, even some training by what must be several generations antecedent of any still roaming the woods. Yes, Darlen is, I believe, the latest of that line."

Turning to the half-orc, Elyan meets his eyes momentarily again, "I travel alone for now, as I have mostly lived for many centuries. Slavery is not... a harmonic way to interact with the world. I admit I have neglected mine own ability to interact harmonically with beings outside of my woods, but I would never care to inflict such dominance over another sapient being." His brow furrows slightly at the thought belying his avarice to such a discordant profession, but his tone remains awkwardly distant.

He turns to the table again, offering fleeting eye contact once more starting with the man he suspects with which he may share some elven blood, "I have upset some of you. I had no intention. I have only just recently left my woods in order to see more of this land. I have no ill intent, just a newfound curiosity of the world that has entered an aging elf later in life. As I said your stories sounded intriguing. I have some knowledge of the area that you plan to travel through. Perhaps we could share the path and you will learn that I can be a helpful observer, and perhaps I can learn more of how to be a relatable companion." He offers this as earnestly as he can, but for those listening carefully his tone suggests he thinks it more likely that he'll have aid to offer, and far less likely that he'll learn much of social relatability.

Mass apologies all, been struggling to sit a desk after an operation and yet sadly that's all I'm really allowed to do at work. So writing at a keyboard at home has been daunting. I'll get the edited backstory up soon I swear, for now the Strider-esque intro seems promisingly mysterious... And suits Elyan just fine tbh.

Elyan gathers himself standing smoothly, whisking with him a well-watered, well-nursed glass of wine. His elven grace subtly stiff yet truly only noticeable to the keenest of eyes if taken with the equally minute wrinkles reaching from his eyes and feathering his brow. This elf has seen more than a few winters if one takes the painting as a whole. Belying his age his steps are still as sure and light as a dancer, if not quite as graceful as they once were. The only other insinuation of his immutability fading are the temples of his shoulder length blonde hair turning nearly platinum, hinting at silver, assuredly not grey.

For all his gathered physical poise and in spite of the deep pools of wisdom reflected in his forest green eyes, his tavern manners seem truncated, inexperienced even, a jarring juxtaposition made obvious as he bows gracefully, yet awkwardly, to the group as he arrives at the table. As the half elf trails off he gestures to an empty chair nearby, barely waiting for any kind of acknowledgement before abruptly dragging it noisily to the table, half interrupting the elderly halfling, and sitting. He collects his well crafted but rough spun cloak about himself and pauses interminably, his jaw finally clenches into a grimace as he stiltedly states, "I am Elyan. Your stories intrigue me. I'd like to travel with you. I have knowledge of the area, particularly the woods." While he speaks he makes eye contact with everyone at the table just long enough to call it such, before eyeing the swirling wine in his cup.

Byakko is still perplexed at the conversation but adds what he can to Skäne's intimidating stance. Enii at his side doing her part.

Byakko grunts wryly, knowing his desire to cut the grisly remains down wouldn't be simple given the witchy customs they'd already encountered. He struggles to keep the beastly rasp from his tongue as his blood begins to boil, "We have no desire to present a sacrifice such as your current door decoration." He barely snarls the word 'decoration' through his disgusted sneer. He has to pause, fighting the bestial tongue, but continues, "Would you accept something other than blood sacrifice?"

Diplomacy if required.

Damn gotta save some of these rolls... Sry Geedra, murder and torture(?) are not in Byakkos code, so I've/he's gone direct.

Heya WS, Enii (see profile, Str isn't updated) actually has a point into the climb skill for a +8 bonus as it's actually a 'class skill' apparently. Byakko also has some emergency flying if they're touching when he casts it... I'm down to try climbing but obviously a big cat on stone, rope and pitons isn't the same as a tree in the jungle. If she's able to make attempts I'll give it a go.

Also semi-related can I cast Paragon Surge on Enii as a Share Spell ability? Pretty wild interaction but it does say regardless of her qualifying for type. To make matters even more wild... Sure Grasp is a feat requiring a point in climb which Enii has... but Byakko doesn't... lol

I feel that WS... My lady's uncles had us over on christmas eve and deigned not to tell us of their obvious sickness... Got away clean enough I suppose but what is with people doing things while sick? Hope you're recovering well!

Anyway, my buddy was down, I suspect he still is. Will take him a while to build a lvl 8 PC I imagine as PF isn't his favored system but he got up to lvl 3 or so in Mithas' campaign, should I tell him to build away?

Byakko follows Skäne forward but seeing the Ulfen brace for impact he hangs back, preparing to smash anything that doesn't break on his rock of a companion. Not sure where we started but I'll hang out to the side of Skäne and a square back. He then casts Bull's Strength on himself. <Move to flank girl!> he tells Enii, who interrupts her move to the side, to flash him a look. She doesn't have boots but a double move goes 40ft off to the side if theres room.

Work kicks up tomo all week so forgive me for jumping your round 1 Skäne so i can get a post up before the weekend.

So RAW it doesn't look like I can swap places with Geedra as we're different sizes (?) But if WS rules it works... I'll 5ft and swap Byakko and Geedra, otherwise I'll 5ft into melee with the demon threatening Geedra.

For his part, if Byakko was not attuned to his companions astonishing reflexive speed, he would not have started his verbal and somatic compoments immediately (and he still nearly missed brushing her tail as she surged past) to imbue her strikes with Divine Favor.

Kellan instinctively backs up a step into the previous room and almost as quickly fires a shot hoping to buy the party some time to move freely into or out of the room How's that for noncommittal?.

We have no desire to mar such a place, Visage, nor song with our clumsy instruments," he fingers his sword hilt, "but it seems you already know we have the ability and determination to do so, should you choose to join us in that medley. If there is a chord we could strike, it certainly would require you give us your key, then, and only then can we harmonize."There goes all Byakko's musical references! Byakko relaxes his grip on the rope, and signals to Enii to heel as she eyes the new comers. He motions back the way they've come and says "Follow this path about eighty yards and then turn left. Keep the kids close and stay to the path though, these woods aren't safe!"
