By all accounts, The Shining Knight seems to be denial of the idea that the nightmarish creature overcame his will.

"Ah, good old Ting Tang, my boon companion! Fear not -- twas' but a clever ruse on my part to draw out our villainous foe by perpetuating the illusion of dissension in our ranks! But that ghostly devil is clever indeed, and continues to stalk us from the shadows, poised to strike. Yet, I shall not lower my guard," he says, continuing the rather long speech, "until the real maidens are rescued and the arch-fiend destroyed forever!"

Gasping in pain as the nightmarish creature plants a soul-weakening kiss on him, the Shining Knight gathers his courage. "Nay, wench! These lips are reserved for my true love, and she is not thee!"

The Shining Knight turns a full circle in the middle of the room, peering at each of the exits. Tapping his perfectly white teeth with one fingernail, he makes audible sounds of deep contemplation. "Ah, yes. This one I should think," he announces, heading off in the direction of a passage.

The Shining Knight is intentionally written to be a bit boorish, but let me know if anyone is getting annoyed--it's easy to scale back.
