It is. Oddly, it only shows 1.0.1 as my version. I'll send them a note and see if they can help me sort this out. Thanks.

Make sure that you’re on a relatively recent version of Foundry (.311 should be far enough) so that you can update to the latest release for PF2e. It’s needed as it adds the army actors to Kingmaker-flagged worlds.

Forge doesn’t always keep you up to date with the latest releases because that’s how they decided to do things.

Anyone else have this problem?

The module requires Foundry V11.309 and PF2e 5.6.0; If you haven't updated then it may not show up because it would be unable to be installed. If you still have issues and you're able to hop over to the discord I'm sure someone will be able to walk you through it all :)

Hi Paizo,

When I opened up my subscription this month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there weren't any packing peanuts. I think it is great that you've moved away from them. However, I did notice that you choose to replace them with Uline-branded air pockets, and this kind of made me pause.

Paizo's corporate values are so highly in line with various causes, most notably the LGTBQ+ community, which you have welcomed and even ingrained into your lore. Hence my disappointment to see Uline-branded products.

Part of why I like supporting Paizo is that they have taken an important stand on certain issues, and knowing what Uline management espouses privately, as citizens, and then publicly on letters they post on their website, gives me pause. I would hope that Paizo considers joining other companies in sourcing their packing materials elsewhere.

A word of warning for any GMs running this, especially if you rely on digital tools: There are a lot of weird differences with this scenario. Be careful with just using the elite and weak template (several of the elite templates have weak modifications to things like AC, saves, and HP), and watch out as one of the hazards has 24 HP but a BT of 22 instead of 12. One of the 8th level casters casts 8th level cantrips - 8th level telekinetic projectile can be quite lethal - and their spell list that is referenced to an AP has a change in the PFS scenario.

Since PFS is required to be run as written these all matter.

Is there an option to obtain just the graphic tokens, so they can be used on any VTT?

The art, with and without token ring, is available as webp files. In fact the module is literally that plus a mapping file for the PF2e system compendia.

The catch is that it is a licensed product, meaning you buy a license key that you can redeem as part of your foundry account, which means you need the foundry license and software to download it. But once it is downloaded it is just loose files well organized in folders. As long as your VTT of choice handles modern file types you should be good to use them!

Here is the first cut of things we found while doing data entry for Foundry:

Back Matter:
- Aldori Dueling Sword: Priced at 20g instead of 2g
- Mindrender Baton: No clear value for intimidation DC - recommmend DC 31 based on the wording
- Gromog: Unsure if perception is +5 or +9 (has the blinded condition, but can become unblinded)
- Hargulka: Morningstar is listed as piercing with versatile P trait; should be bludgeoning with versatile P
- The Stag Lord: Composite Longbow has reload 1, should be reload 0
- Tartuccio: Sickle strike has no attack modifier (Suggest +15 - moderate for level 6)
- Wild Hunt Archer - Should have true seeing as a constant spell
- Wild Hunt Scout - Has constant true seeing, but it isn't listed in the perception block as normal

Chapter 2:
- Unstable Pit: No disable check
- Hateful Hermit and Boggard Cultist: missing range increment and reload 1 traits for blowgun
- Hooktongue: Missing beast and aquatic traits, added animal trait compared to base NPC. Undetectable action is missing the detection, divination, revelation, and scrying traits; water travel is missing the concentrate trait
- Ngara: Attack modifier is from the level 8 base creature (DC32, +20 Attack), missing all coven-related abilities.
- Windchaser: Lost animal trait and gained beast trait compared to base NPC
- Tiger Lord Hill Giant: Fist has striking damage compared to greatclub (which should have it)
- Oversized Chimera: Breath weapon missing range - should be 30 foot cone per base chimera
- Hill Giant Butcher: Battle Axe should probably have reach 10
- Tree that Weeps: Saves are for the level 6 Scythe tree; which is far too low for a level 18 NPC
- Chief Sootscale: First attack is listed as a spear instead of a club (no spear in inventory, no strike for club)
- Spirit of Stisshak: Has nightmare as a third level spell, but it is fourth level
- Rigg Gargadilly: Spell DC is for a level 4 creature instead of a level 7 creature (not changed from base NPC)
- The Dancing Lady: Save DCs are for a level 6 creature instead of a level 8 creature (not changed from base NPC)
- Boggard Warden: Blowgun strike is missing traits

Chapter 5:
- Akuzhail: Has a range to its darkvision
- Life Bloom: Has the death trait, but it can't deal damage

Chapter 6
- Murder of Crows: has the same saves as base NPC, but is 6 levels higher
- Cephal's Feasting Bite references the "helpless" condition, which is not a PF2e condition

Chapter 7
- Ameon Trask: Composite Shortbow strike is missing range increment and reload traits
- Pavetta Stroon-Drelev: missing ranged strike
- Jewel: Is labeled as "Minion 9" Instead of "Creature 9" with the minion trait; emanation is used as a trait tag, but it isn't anywhere else in PF2e
- Terrion Numesti: His fist does slashing/versatile P damage instead of bludgeoning (likely unchanged from the sword strike of the base NPC except for the name)
- Zorek: Missing ranged attack. Has Dimension Door as a cantrip instead of an at will spell.

Chapter 8
- General Avinash Jurrg is missing the humanoid and fiend traits, and has the shapechanger trait (which other shapechangers don't have)
- Trapped Portcullis hazard lists a disable DC, but no skill or action

Chapter 9
- The 4 graveknights in A2 of chapter 9 have 61,500 gold worth of runes on their weapons - this is the entire wealth for going from level 16 to 17, so likely too much loot (missing the Ruinous Weapons trait, and even that doesn't cover +2 runes)
- Mastiff of Tindalos: Has the evil trait, but this is implied because they are neutral evil NPCs so is redundant
- Spirit Seal: Has no detection DC (even obvious hazards list a DC of 0 or -10)
- Thresholder Hermeticist: Has expanded alchemist's tools, but this should be either regular alchemist's tools or an expanded lab
- Threshold Disciple: fist and claw are lacking unarmed traits. The stance makes it clear that these should be there

Chapter 10
- Barbedtongue Wyvern: No damage type on the tongue attack

Chapter 11
- Werendegar: Has no damage type for his jaws attack

Companion Guide (Note that Companions are built using PC rules)
- Giant-Killing runes have 3 listed prices for 2 different runes.
- Deathdrinking rune reaction should grant a status bonus, not an item bonus
- Inkshot spell missing target line
- Jubilost (Level 1): Perception is trained, not expert; Primal DC should be 14, set to expert to be 16
- Jubilost (Level 8): Perception is trained, not expert. All strikes are -1, Innate spells are set to Wisdom instead of Charisma for DC
- Linzi (Level 1): No arrows in inventory
- Linzi (Level 7) - No arrows in inventory. Most things are computed at level 8. Leather armour strength penalty for acrobatics and stealth is ignored; Transcribe event spell should be transcribe conflict. Phantom protagonist should be phantasmal protagonist
- Nok-Nok (Level 1) - Perception set to DC instead of +4, no backpack or other container and he is really close to being encumbered
- Nok-Nok (Level 5) - Perception set to DC instead of to +8, composite shortbow damage adds 2 for strength instead of 1
- Tristan (Level 1) - Nature and Religion are trained, but values are for untrained skills, HP 18 instead of 17
- Tristan (Level 10) - Has celestial wings action, but has natural ambition instead of celestial wings as their level 9 ancestry feat
- Valerie (Level 1) - Has a skill feat (quick jump), shortbow does 1d8 damage instead of 1d6
- Valerie (Level 9) - No combat flexibility default feat selected, aggressive block is a free action, not a reaction, composite shortbow damage is listed as 2d8+2 instead of 2d6+4

Paizo if you're using this as a promotional effort to get new users onto Foundry, keep in mind that every post about Foundry in this forum has essentially been: "You have to be a serious techie to make this work, but if you have those chops, it's terrific."

Try writing the instructions as if brave, but non-technical PF2 folks might be willing to take a chance for $10, but might not actually know what they're doing.

I think Foundry did what you are asking for. See the installation section of their Beginner Box Module page. It doesn’t have pictures but it does say exactly what to do with links to the place you need to do them: https://foundryvtt.com/packages/pf2e-beginner-box

I typically open/import any maps in GIMP, resize to 100 px per inch, and then save as webp. Takes me two minutes and "just works" in Foundry.

Ched Greyfell wrote:

But we're thinking of trying something else for running an older AP using PF2 rules. How easy is it to add the maps and what not to Foundry?
Our plans are to run Second Darkness in PF2 and do a podcast of it.

I can amplify the answer provided above. The resolution of all maps will be 200 ppi (so one map grid is 200 pixels by 200 pixels) which is better than what we can import PDF maps at. The exception is one of the maps in AV because of concerns about old graphics cards. Older graphics cards have a specific limit that a map that size would exceed, so that one map is 100 dpi, or one quarter the resolutions (which is similar or slightly better than most Paizo interactive maps, depending on the map). Obviously this was done to make sure maximum compatibility. It would suck to get through several floors of AV and then just have to stop because one player can't see the map :) That's the type of foresight that Foundry and Sigil are bringing to this conversion!

Fumarole wrote:
Will the maps be of appropriate quality at miniature scale? I see the tokens are mentioned as being high resolution, but see no such comment about the maps.

You'll still be able to build worlds in Foundry without needing to buy premium content. You can put in the Paizo maps as images and then put down the walls and lighting. All the actors you need will be in the system for free, and I can tell you that those take the most amount of time compared to everything else. PDF to Foundry will still work so bestiary creatures can even have the art assigned through the importer.

PDF to Foundry still works, and it will be maintained, just not improved upon or have things added to it (other than maybe PFS scenarios because they're super easy compared to an adventure or an AP). But for new stuff you would be 100% on your own. That sounds bad until you realize that you have all the actors, feats, features, classes, everything CUP still available, including from new books and adventures. So compared to, say, a 5e player you are still MILES ahead.

In any case, before judging the price point I think we should all wait and see what it will be for what is being offered. If you value your time at $20/hr, how much would it take for you to buy the module instead of building the world yourself. That's the real question.

For scope, it took between 160 and 180% of what it would take a single person to set up a world to make the same thing work in PDF to Foundry if the layout of the PDF was the same as a previous one. This meant that FryGuy was putting in over 30 hours and had to spoil every adventure (except AV because he ROT-13 encoded some of the text and taught me how to use it - this is also why AV in PDF to Foundry isn't as good as other adventures... all my mistakes, not FryGuy's) for the good of the community. PDF to Foundry was amazing, and FryGuy paid over $1,000 out of pocket on things he'll never get to play before starting the Patreon, and then closed the Patreon as soon as he broke even.

Plus someone can still make a new PDF to Foundry. As long as it has suitable watermark checking it can be listed as a Foundry module. Someone just has to do that work and respect Paizo's IP. If Foundry doesn't enforce that for officially listed modules then no publisher will want to publish on their platform, and that would suck for the whole industry.

So this is kind of a big one then that should probably be asked. The PDF to Foundry module worked off of purchased PDF's. Can we anticipate some support to those of us who have used this route to help create our games? And being as the Beginner's Box is very common in the Humble Bundles, will there be future support for that?
PDF to Foundry is no longer being updated with new APs. Frozen Flame was the last one. The decision to end support for it was Fryguy's, he was spending ~30 hours a month doing the work on it and spoiled every AP, adventure, and society scenario in the process. He was going to retire PDF to Foundry earlier but when we got word that Outlaws of Alkenstar would be the first premium module he pushed on to close the content gap. There is nothing preventing someone else from stepping up and making a similar program, but they would have to start from scratch as his code is closed source and he won't be releasing it to help reduce piracy. He could decide to add future content into the module again, but given that these modules are beyond anything the importer could ever do it's unlikely to be revived. Nothing in the module as it currently is will be going away. All the APs up through Frozen Flame will be importable as normal.

I caught that the other day Tikael. I just didn't want to flood the Discord with another repeat question because even though I know that you just looooove to see those, I figured I'd be nice and move the question here so it could hopefully have an answer close to the top. I just didn't expect for it be answered 5 different times lol.

Glad to hear that there will a discount, but it's not really the published content that had me concerned as there normally is a discount in other places, but there is a hell of a lot more being shown in that preview. Defs a bunch of programmers without any marketing peeps :P

A more apt analogy is "a bunch of volunteers". Please remember that all of this is done by random people, not a company, who are unpaid and unsupported by Paizo for the community. Plus we are working on the UI/UX side of things, but if there is a professional willing to donate their time and help to redesign things please feel free to step forward (although likely this isn't the purview of a marketer so much as a UI/UX or accessibility designer). We used to have things like folders for the compendia (and the code for it still exists) but it wasn't natively supported by core Foundry, so the PF2e system developers can only do so much. The code we relied on to make that happen isn't compatible with 0.8 and this many compendia isn't an issue for any non-Paizo system, so it isn't a priority for Foundry itself to fix. The last major revision to the Foundry core (going to 0.8.x) meant rewriting 60% of the PF2e system code - 40,000 lines - to be compatible.

But for the $0 that you pay for the PF2e on Foundry and the $0 that you pay for the PDF importer on Foundry and the fact that hopping on the discord will likely give you the answer to any question within minutes, well, you're more than getting your moneys worth :)

Hi all,

As part of a project that is OGL/CUP compliant, can you use the descriptive text for monsters/NPCs from from the bestiaries/Adventures/APs/GMG?

Reading the product identity statement I don't believe that this text seems to necessarily fall under that, excluding, say, the description of a Red Mantis Assassin NPC which would clearly not fall under OGL but could fall under community use.

Specifically, I'm asking if it is acceptable to include (using arbiter as an example) the: "These spherical inevitables..." along with the stat block.

Thanks for the help!

Hi All,

I recently ran 2-08 as a GM for a second time and have an issue with the online reporting. The first time I ran it I applied the credit against one of my characters. This second time, I didn't apply it against any character since it is a non-repeatable. Per the organized play guide, table credit and achievement points are earned, but not a new chronicle:

"GMs earn GM credits, Achievement Points, and a Chronicle the first time they GM an adventure. Any subsequent GM sessions earn GM credits and AcP, unless the adventure has the Repeatable Tag. "

On my session report, however, there are no achievement points awarded and an annotation: "Player has already run scenario at session # 16 of event #.... on December 20, 2020."

That session was the first time I ran 2-08 and I did apply it to my -2001 character. This session I did not put in a PC number and all of the players in the second session were new to me/never reported by me and definitely not in session #16.

I asked on the OPO discord and they suggested reaching out here. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Happy New Year!

Maps and token artwork will be your main issue I think. The CUP outlines what artwork you can use, which largely limits you to the blog and community use package. Maps and other art from PDFs are not included in the CUP, not even if the PDF is free.

Thanks for the reply!

I made the map myself and the artwork is sourced from the Paizo blogs so per the CUP it can be used. The rest of the audio and images are available per CC0 license or created myself and issued under CC0. Mostly it is the actual scenario that I’m wondering about. The text to the scenario itself since that is included. Nominally that is the key IP, but Paizo also gives it away for free so that is the grey area to me :S.

As part of the volunteer developer team Of the PF2e system for Foundry we want to do everything by the book as we eventually want Paizo to (or allow others to) have a similar system for purchasing art and PFS scenarios/adventures/APs as roll20 or FG.

Hi all,

I’m working to create a demo world for a VTT based off of Torment and Legacy. The PF2e conversion is non-commercial and everything so far complied with the CUP and OGL. We would like to offer the scenario as a pre-made module for people to try out PF2e utilizing only CC0 material as well as what is contained within the free Torment and Legacy PDF or otherwise provided by Paizo for community use.

I don’t know if this is permissible because I think that the story would be Paizo IP, but since it is offered for free it is a bit of a grey area. All the BTT would do is take the package from PDF form and turn it into a module with appropriate disclaimers regarding the CUP and OGL.

As a side note I did email licensing@paizo.com about this but with COVID-19 slowing things down I have no idea if or when I’ll get a reply and was hoping someone on the forums might have run into something like this (or similar) with the Paizo free scenarios.

Thank you!
