Ryckart's page

So I make my own scene; and then what? It gets buried along with all my other failed attempts? The only way I seem to get noticed is if I speak out like this and then get in trouble for it. Only a fraction of any questions I ask--be it public or private--even gets acknowledged, let alone answered, and when I do attempt player interaction, my actions either get ignored or just flat-out demolished. It's just so damn annoying and demoralizing.

I have two characters, a teacher and a student. i dont really involve them in lots of scenes, only the ones that make sense. eventually one will come along.

although one time a perfect one came along for both of them and i was asleep! hahaha

ok so i saw the number of posts building up and i finally had time to overcome my fear and read them all. imagine my sadness as two different arcs played out that my two characters would have fit perfectly into... oh well haha

At the Adon-ocalypse

Ryckart was present in the class, being his usual self and not particularly interacting with others. His type of magic was slightly... different than the others, and had more in common with priests than wizards. In any event, the blast of antimagic hit him like a tidal wave. He had a scant few tenths of a second to bring to bear his protective abilities, yet the wave washed over them like sand castles before the crashing waves. Nonetheless, the abjurative properties of his multifaceted defensive measures, coupled with the... asymmetrical nature of his abilities prevented him from being rendered totally helpless.

The first thing he noticed was that the ever-swirling embroidery on his chusable had stopped, but his amulet was still in working order. Well, there's that. Indeed, a powerful event has transpired. Time to remove myself and observe. His arcane abilities being out of his reach, h used his mental abilities to fold the space between this room and the hallway, and stepped through. He could sense that the magic was slowly creeping in from outside the area of the effect to fill the void, and now horrible noises could be heard from within the room. He began to scry on the room, content to remain merely an observer for the rest of the episode.

Nonetheless, when the episode had ended, Ryckart found himself in the infirmary, transported by a force beyond his control. He was examined by the resident nurses and given a full bill of health. With a slip to excuse his tardiness in hand, he made his way to the classroom for Intro to Psicraft.

Ace smiles "I missed the demon fighting part, that might have been fun. I think I did at least. I helped saved the crashing ship. I'm guessing the lake appearing is kinda normal. This is also my second day here, kinda excited to start classes"

the demon thing was Treisdan's episode in the cafeteria, i recall you made one of the dragons mad or something while Ryckart went to the hallway and scryed on the event.

"Yes, as am I. The mind, like a blade, grows dull over time when not sharpened by learning."

"Hello. I was there. I am Ryckart. I just don't make myself as... noticeable as many of the other students here. I've been here two days and I have already seen a ship crash, a lake appear from nowhere, and someone fighting demons that they apparently made a deal with in the first place. Not to mention the travesty that was that concert. Hopefully things calm down once people are gainfully employed with their coursework."

Ryckart wakes up and makes his daily manifestations before leaving his room and heading to the cafeteria. He grabs a tray full of food. I don't want to be caught hungry on the first day of class. No telling how strenuous it will be he thinks to himself. He then finds a seat, hoping to get his meal in before the noisiest of students arrive.

he has some powers and spells, but wasnt made to be a combat monster.

he has other ways of surviving besides high AC, because high AC is usually outclassed by high attack bonuses in higher levels anyway.

well Ryckart is decidedly not a melee combatant.

It seemed Ryckart would never understand these students. So crazy, prone to disruptive outbursts. Is this a school for the gifted or a school for the challenged? Both?

After dinner, Ryckart will shift the color of his clothes to midnight blue with golden embroidery to match the perceived formality of the event before heading down to the concert and finding a seat near the back.

i dont think Ryckart knows about the concert unless it was announced over the PA or there were flyers strewn about

Ryckart takes his lunch in the cafeteria after finishing a tiring mid-morning reading session in the library.

Lang easily dodges Suns grab for the bag.

he immediately forms a cylone of air at his feet land Lang rides the column up levitateing 20 feet above the ground riding the air

Ty! Lang yells down Do it! and he tosses the candy bag into the lake.

Lang is referring to ty's comment about sending it to the bottom of the lake

Sun keeps jumping trying to get to Lang and the bag but they are too high up.

After eating his meal, Ryckart goes to check on Treisdan, the only student with whom he had conversed with at length. He followed the arrows to him and upon seeing him, inquired as to his current health after the incident.

It's an empty classroom. Also, it's lunchtime. Classes don't start until the next day. registration is still happening today. And the prof for Basic Arcana is busy with that. Once you're done with that you have a free day.

following breakfast, Ryckart makes his way to the Basic Arcana class and quietly takes a seat.

"Alright, well then Basic Arcana, Intro to Psicraft, Mathemagics, Clairsentience, Conjuration - that will cover a lot of ground about extraplanar creatures, and PE. Sound alright?"

"Yes, Thank you."

"Ah, well..." Ryckart says, handing the forms back once completed, "I am interested in studying matters arcane and psionic, particularly divinations. Furthermore, I am interested in the beings that exist on the fringes of known space and time."

Ryckart is sitting wherever there was an open seat, and looks like a regular teenage human.

Ryckart enters and sits, preferably giving himself some space around him so that he isn't caught in the area of any students that happen to be on fire, or surrounded with any other similar harmful effects.

After watching the episode with Ace and the red lizard, Ryckart will head to the orientation so that he isn't late.

Ryckart wakes to a piece of paper flitting about his head. Upon reading it, he goes through the cafeteria and grabs a tray, taking it to go. The cafeteria was as loud as usual, but with no particularly amusing fights going on. He decides to eat his food on the outer wall of the school, to look out at what surrounds the school. As he is looking for a suitable place, he spies Ace and some little red lizard creature tied up. Ryckart sits on the wall and begins to eat.

Ryckart, content that the scene had played out as far as it was going to, let go of his amulet and looked up. The elemental in the cafeteria dissipated and Ryckart made his way to his room.

He stepped in, and having overheard one of the students speaking on the morphic powers of the room, willed it to change to a desert full of rolling dunes under the light of stars hanging in the clear sky.

He sat down, motioned the door closed behind him, and stared into the horizon.

yeah Ryckart enjoys the privacy of a single room as well. best not to have boisterous or dramatic roommates always setting the room on fire with their minds and whatnot

fair enough. its a shadowy duplicate of an air elemental, standing still. it is just the subject of my remote viewing, the sensor for which was what made the stealth check (the elemental didn't make a stealth check). The elemental has an INT of 6 since you would know that.

auto sense location of any living being... so stealth is irrelivant...

not a living being... a 20% real duplicate of an elemental, and a scrying sensor which is not a living being.

if this is just the insanity the students come up with, i cant wait for the insanity the teachers subject us to!

Ryckart stands around the corner on the opposite side of the hallway from the cafeteria entrance. He cupped his amulet with both hands.

Ryckart, not being a fan of heightened emotions, left the cafeteria as tensions began to reach critical mass.

However, not content to miss the show, he cast shadow conjuration to summon a shadowy air elemental. He then manifested remote viewing on it so he could keep tabs on the interesting events.

stealth check: 1d20 + 46 ⇒ (12) + 46 = 58 this is the check for my scrying sensor, which appears as a ghostly figure of myself. ignore +40 of that bonus if you have any sort of see invisibility effect going on you

seeing that the staff members are fairly confident in the face of this strangeness, Ryckart will back off and stand with the group of student spectators that haven't fled the room.

Ryckart steps forward assuming that was mind affecting, i made my save

"I can throw up shields that could mitigate harm in the event of... unpleasantness"

Ryckart, in the cafeteria at the time still, hears the telepathic urge.

Ryckart is sitting a table or two away from the hotheads and their girls at least.

Ryckart takes a seat after grabbing a small plate of whatever looks edible.

When hunger pangs, Ryckart will put the book back on the shelf and make his way to the cafeteria for some dinner.

well, to be fair, 30 charisma is less impressive when you can just choose to have it rather than actually suffering your way up to it. let's keep our heads in the medium size category here.

Well, I guess I can comprehend it, though I just realized that Rosa thought Cure Light Wounds, Mass is a lvl 1 spell, when it's a lvl 5 spell, so I'm not sure if that affects the Will save or not. I think it's best to wait and see if there's a need for a ret-con before I go back to bashing in undead wolf skulls.

the difference is that the DC of the save the wolves have to pass is 4 higher (as a level 5 spell is 4 spell levels higher than a lvl1 spell) so maybe more wolves took higher damage.

"Well Ryckart, perhaps we can run some tests to see what powers are subject to the block...? If you consent I will attempt to penatrate or bypass your wards..."

"perhaps. i think we should focus ourselves on classes first, however."

"Ryckart, how powerful would the being tht contacted you have to be to penatrate the block on your mind?"

"Well, anything of deific power could penetrate it. However I have another theory, that the being in question's power was so foreign, so different from what we know, that perhaps it simply was not subject to the power."

Looking up at Ryckart he politely excuses himself "I have to go meet someone, thank you for your company." He then puts up the books he had taken from the shelves, grabs his notebook, and walks out.

"Alright, I am sure we will run into each other again. Call me if you need anything."
