Think the Tarrasque or the Oliphaunt of Jandelay. I am looking to collaborate on a colossal (literally) monster who is destined to destroy the world and eat the gods unless stopped. This creature has rampaged once before and turned one section of the world to solid ice after burning it to a blackened crisp. I want something that shakes and breaks the ground as it moves, its roar causes tidal waves! I'll answer your questions if you have them, otherwise, let's see what we can make!
I am running a fairly high powered campaign for seven players. They have most bases covered and don't really lack in any area in a glaring way. I am creating a special item for each character based on their connection to a specific god. Here's the issue: I need an item (slotless: I'm thinking a book), for a monk of Irori who is hands down the most min maxed and powerful character on the field. I need this item to have some cool bells and whistles, special powers and whatnot, but it cannot increase his fighting prowess too much and cannot realistically raise his AC at all or I will lose CR balance. Any thoughts? I've been stuck nearly a week now. :(
Night is falling fast as six battered and bruised soldiers scurry away from a crushing defeat at the hands of the Odish armies. Duke Simeon Geb ordered a retreat which swiftly became a route. With allies fleeing in all directions and the enemy behind, is it safe to hole and and rest or risk the woods at night? There is another soldier with you all. He is a older man, maybe late 40s, with more salt than pepper in his stubbly beard. His shield is riddled with arrows and his spear is cracked. He also carries a short sword at his belt. Go ahead and start talking things out while moving or decide to stop and rest. Please include a physical description of your character along with your first post.

Hi everyone! Welcome and congratulations. The first thing I'd like to see is an alias for each character with includes their stats and backstory plus any additional, pertinent information. Please keep your stat block in the alias. I do not want to have to link to an outside character sheet. At least include AC, Saves, Perception, and attacks. Secondly, I'd like to know what questions you have about what you know, where you are, etc. You are all citizens and/or soldiers in the city of Narv on the boarder of Odalisk. A month after signing an historic peace treaty with ODalisk, Pollexia was invaded with surprising speed by the new ally. They rushed the cities of Pyrandon and Ryn overtaking them in mere days. Unable to supply and prepare for a siege since the hostile nation now surrounded him, Duke Simeon Geb (your lord) brought all his forces forth and attempted to punch through enemy line, passed Ryn and on to Pollex. On the plains before Ryn castle, Duke Geb and his troops were soundly defeated. It is currently unknown what has become of Geb and his nobles. You, one way or another, have managed to flee into the forest south of Ryn. A few other survivors have also managed to take refuge in the large forest. What is to become of you now? Do you seek to rejoin the Pollexian war machine and drive the invaders forth? Do you turn your cloak and join the usurpers? Perhaps you disappear into the wilds and are never seen again? What will you do?
Greetings. I am going to run a zero magic game using pathfinder rules. This game will be run in a home-brew setting, not in Golarion. All spells, spell-like, and supernatural abilities are removed from this game. Only mundane items are allowed. If you're not sure, please ask. The Story
After a crushing defeat under their liege lord, the players scramble off the battlefield. Cut off from their contingents and now deep in enemy territory, they must decide what is to become of them. You may be a professional soldier, a member of the militia, or a clerk/aid de camp to a low ranking officer. The story is very open and can take a wide array of turns depending on what skill sets are available and what choices are made. Each character should represent a real person in this world and should be rounded enough to be playable in combat and social situations alike. Obviously, some characters will favor one over the other. Character Creation
Max Hp at 1st level, then average. 1000gp in starting gold Human only 20 Point Buy - No score lower than 8 Only the following classes are allowed:
2 traits (one must be a combat trait) and 1 flaw. I will choose a 3rd trait to help tie your characters to the story. 1-3 paragraphs about your character with emphasis on her/his life outside of war and how he/she feels about war in general. The chosen group will collaborate with me to finalize backgrounds once they are chosen. Things to know
Enemies will include other humans, animals, and the elements. All are held to the same no magic rules as the players. Technology is closest compared to 12th and 13th century Europe. Please ask if you have any questions.
Just checking interest for a no magic game. Any class or race is allowed, but all spells, spell-like abilities, supernatural abilities, etc. are banned from this game. Therefore, fighters, rogues, and the like are good choices while sorcerers and wizards would be poor choices. The game would be fairly gritty with high emphasis on risk versus reward, using skills, etc. I am happy to answer any questions, but please do not post character concepts at this time. Just let me know if you're interested and if you have any questions.
Greetings. I took over a Runelords game recently and we are in need of an Arcane caster. Good choices include battle mages and utility mages. This is a story involving one of the most powerful wizards in history, so the more you can do the better. The party is 2 brawlers, a gunslinger, and a cleric.
Level 1 Max hp for level 1 HP gain upon leveling is roll. You take your roll or mine, but you don't get to see mine until after you choose. 20 point buy Final ability scores no higher than 18, and no lower than 8 150gp for all classes 2 Traits, 1 strongly encouraged to be campaign. All traits must be incorporated into the character's backstory/personality. No custom races All paizo classes, archetypes, races, etc allowed, so long as they fit the character and don't unbalance the party. I would like a sample post where your character interacts with another sentient creature, I want to see internal dialogue and how your character "assess the situation" I also would like a description of your character, both physically and of personality.
My players are about to head into Fey and I want your tips and tricks! What odd twists do you give the world to help players remember they are not in Kansas any more? Do the laws of light, sound, or physics change? What color schemes do you choose? Please give me anything and everything you would use, have used, are using, or would ever consider using for a jaunt to the Veil of the Faeries. Ty in advance!
Hi folks. At the moment, I am just checking interest. My idea is to run a sandbox campaign wherein player begin as a primitive tribe and build their civilization. As major advancements occur, players will retire their primitive characters and the game will leap forward a few hundred years and player will become medieval type characters in a low magic, gritty kind of setting. This trend will continue through to the golden age of magic, into the downfall of magic, the rise of gunpowder, and finally attempting to survive the apocalypse. This would be a long campaign with a huge variance is style. The beginning would likely be tons of combat and surviving elements whereas the middle would be more intrigue and magic, perhaps some political machinations, and would end up in back where we started probably. This campaign will take a very long time to run in PBP. I ran something similar at the table and it took 2.5 years so the PBP would likely be closer to 4 years. I think it will keep players attention though since the setting and even the characters will change as we go. Does it sound interesting? What questions would you want answered before playing this game? Thanks for the input friends.
Grass blades bow in the wake of the wind. The cairn gapes: a great black maw leading into the ground. In truth, the opening is not larger then the frame of a man, but it's presence suggests deep secrets in the empty, isolated place. Grand Sergeant Bartholomew shifts irritatedly in his saddle. "Now look here! This land belongs to the soverign nation of Aldoria and your claims to this cairn, to be perfectly frank, are galling at best: at worst, a cause for war." Swordlord Phinehas Dento scofff openly, "Come now! Everyone know you have no true country here. Had it not been for Brevoy and the Swordlords of Restov, this space would never have been discovered. The rights are ours, and we will fight for them if we must." Both men draw weapons. Their entourages likewise arm themselves. The slide of steel is punctuated by a resounding explosion. The doorway to the cairn blows apart in all directions with violent force, and where before men would have entered single file, the hole would easily accommodate two wagons to enter abreast. Despite the expanded space for traffic, a lone man stands in the center of the crater, an oddly sophisticated musket resting on his shoulder. The two commanders exchange glances, and the Grand Sergeant speaks up. "And who, by the gods, are you then!?"
Let's so you got the go ahead to play a natural lycanthrope in carrion crown... What class would you pick and why? EDIT: The character will start at level one and not know he/she is a lycanthrope. Instead of a 2nd class level at level 2, he/she will become aware of her lycanthropic blood. Same question as above please.
Greetings! I am looking for ONE (maybe two) freedom fighters to join a Special Forces strike team who have been charged to champion democracy and freedom in a world full of slavery and oppression. We currently have a wizard, a rogue, and an Oracle/fighter (archer). What we need is a meat shield/ damager with decent survival and tracking skills. This is a homebrew world and there is much information in the Campaign Tab and in the early pages of the Discussion thread. People who follow the advice and conventions listed therein will be more heavily considered than those who don’t. You will be an agent of or an ally of Amerys: the first and only country to abolish slavery. They are a true democracy and are zealous about ending slavery in the world. There are three other primary countries you can be from, but you’ll need a good reason to be working for Amerys. I am happy to answer any questions here. Additional information can be found HERE. Character Creation:
8th level characters Roll 2d6+6 six times and arrange to your liking. (Rolls must be made in the recruitment thread. You may roll two sets and take your pick) Standard Wealth by Level (No one item worth more than 25%) Most PF races available, HOWEVER, PF races in this world represent the many variations of humanity. Therefore, they are purely for stat reasons. Everyone in this game is a human where RP is concerned. No Alchemist, Gunslinger, Magus, Ninja, Paladin, Samurai, Summoner, or Witch Advice: Look at the MAP. There are two ways to travel and trade: Land and sea. It would be a good idea to be able to do both. You are from, have immigrated to, or are trying to immigrate to(this one is harder) Amerys: the country on the left of the horseshoe. I should also mention that this is a relatively low magic campaign. Arcane casters (Please no application for mages) are exceptionally rare. Divine casters are slightly more common, but both a generally feared by the common folk.
World News: Slavery in allowed in the Kingdoms of Erenon, Isteroth, and Thelkon. The Freeland of Amerys outlawed slavery 20 years ago and opposes it openly. Erenon is known for training the best high-end slaves in the known world: bed slaves, scribes, healers, warriors; everything a ruling class could desire. They are very costly and take years to train. Erenon treats its slaves with dignity and respect when possible. Isteroth is a Triarchy (Dagan(M), Ekur(M), and Ninbanda(F). Think a cross between Egypt, Sumeria, Mesopotamia and add a dash of Slaver's Bay from Game of Thrones.) Isteroth imports slaves from wherever they may and uses them for mining, farming, logging, and construction. They use they slaves hard and are cruel and careless with them, but they do not sell slaves and are therefore the only country with whom Amerys will openly trade. Thelkon is a kingdom in that there is a High King (Jarl Magnus Torstein), but there are many, many kings that pay him allegiance. Thelkon sells the majority of the slaves in the world. With their love of reaving and their population crisis, slaves are easy to find and easier to sell. They are untrained, undisciplined things though. The Freeland of Amerys is a true democracy. Education, Art, and Philosophy are paramount there. Don’t think them weak though, every citizen is conscripted to fight in the People’s Army from 16-21 and again from 38-50. It is said that if the whole nation was called to arms, they would have close to 100,000 trained swords.
Hello and welcome! I am looking for 2 (MAYBE 3) players to join me in a western adventure. The characters in this game are newly appointed US Marshals with personal reasons for going after The Judd-Matlock Gang. The Judd-Matlock Gang:
Thaddeus "TJ" J. Judd Emmet "The Rope" Matlock Eagle Eye McGinnis Injun Bill Sammie "the B*&!~" Hedder The Yellow Gun Big Haus Jones Those "personal" reasons may be anything from "they killed my pa" to "justice finds all men". The players will need to come up with strong ties: a good reason to travel and work together. You may even want to apply with someone to entwine your backstories together. The biggest thing I am looking for is roleplay ability and commitment to the genre. (i.e. most people couldn't read and contractions were rarely used.) I want solid crunch, but I will pick the better backstory and roleplay potential over everything else. This will be a fairly gritty campaign: expect harsh environmental conditions, racism, taxing injuries, etc. Gestalt Rules 3rd level
Everyone gets improved unarmed strike for free. Monk's do not get something else. No magic, no magic items, no spells, no spell-like abilities, no supernatural abilities Allowed Races:
Allowed Classes:
Allowed Weapons:
Allowed Armor:

Greetings! Below is the original recruitment post and a link to our thread. Please review and post your submissions. If you have any quaestions, please do not hesitate to ask. Greetings and welcome to the recruitment thread for “To Change the Way of the World: A Better Valcia Begins Today.” I am looking for 1 character to replace our front-line rogue skill monkey. The new character should fill the same type of role, but does not have to be the same class. If selected, I will assume that you have read the story completely and read through the discussion thread by the time your character starts play. This is so we do not need to revisit previous questions. If anything is unclear. Ask about it :) You are members of the Army of the Freeland of Amerys, a newly reformed country and the first to bring Democracy to Valcia. Your missions will involve the safety and protection of Amerys, the expansion of your lands through the conquest of or alliance with new territories, and the abolishment of slavery. That said, not everyone in the army is a fighter. The army need soldiers, strategists, healers, diplomats, intellectuals, spies, scouts, etc. HERE’S THE KICKER There are one or more groups also playing in this world that have other missions and ideals! So not only will you be trying your luck against NPCs but other groups of PCs as well! These other groups may ally with you: they may try to kill you. *evil grin* Character Specs::

The sleepy village of Heldren has rarely seen so much excitement or concern. Hunters from the nearby Border Wood speak of unnaturally cold weather at the height of summer that descended on the forest just days ago. Heavy snow followed, and those who returned spoke of an uneasy presence in the woods, as well as new, dangerous predators. No one knows what this even means, but the town's soothsayer, Old Mother Theodora, claims dark times lie ahead. As in in proof of that dire prophecy, a badly wooded mercenary arrived in town yesterday, claiming to be a bodyguard of Lady Argenta Malassene. He told the village council that the noblewoman's escort came under attack by bandits and strange, wintry creatures near the edge of the Border Wood. He alone escaped, and Lady Argenta was dragged away into the forest. Now the townsfolk cast fearful eyes toward the snowy forest, worried what else might emerge to threaten their peaceful village.
Welcome! First of all, I want to tell you all that Reign of Winter is widely considered to be "Pathfinder Hard Mode". Secondly, I'd like to share a bit about my GM style::
Tactics are an important part of my games My games will tell an interesting Story My games focus on Exploration & Mystery I will Mirror back player ideas I think are interesting in the game The GM is in charge in my games and "rule-zero" is in effect My games rely on a lot of Improvisation rather than pre scripted content - (less so in this case) Characters in my games are Destined for greatness, not random death I roll Dice in the open and don't fudge the results in my games My games include Disturbing content My games focus on interesting Characters and Drama Player character Death is a likely event in my games Players in my game should be prepared to Run when the odds are against them
That said, I hope you will take the time to prepare when possible and run when appropriate. Y'all are the heroes! Make good choices :) We'll get started once all characters are fully finalized. Keep an eye on your mailboxes too, because I'll be sending Private Messages to you with pre-game in character knowledge. Any questions about anything posted here, the campaign, or anything else?

Greetings fellow Pathfinders! I am about to run my homegroup through Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition, and I wondered how difficult/advisable it is to run it for 6 rather than 4 players. I hesitate only because I ran 6 players for a 2+ year Kingmaker campaign and I had to be a fair amount of work to adjust challenge ratings and encounters because of it. Other factors were the presence of a gunslinger who hit way too easily and the fact that many fights we agains one BBEG. Will I run into these issues if I wanted to run 6? Any advice to make the work load a bit less?

Greetings and welcome to the recruitment thread for “To Change the Way of the World: A Better Valcia Begins Today.” I am looking for 1-2 characters to replace two fighters. Dawn breaks and Freedom’s Eagle sails with the tide. With the Vice Admiral in command, this promises to be an auspicious voyage. The streets of Port Maverick teem with common and noble folk alike despite to early hour. The city pulses with a festival air as people young and old celebrate the anticipated success of the Vice Admiral’s undertaking. You all know that that it would be, at best, unseemly to arrive to the ship after the Vice Admiral who should be the last to board as is tradition. Each of you have the option of two inns close to the docks to have taken your rest the night before. “The Seahawk” is a den for sailors: a questionable place in the best of times, but the ale is cheap and the women loose as the tongues of gossips that frequent the place. The second choice is “The Citizen Solder”. This pub is a favorite haunt of soldiers current and retired. The food is wholesome, the drink good, and the music terrible. Erasmus has a third option. Being a current enlisted man and a sailor to boot, you good have passed the night aboard ship and be there as the sun comes up.
Welcome! I would like you all to post your acceptance under your character's alias. Then I will go through your character and suggest any changes to make you fit better in the world and/or act better mechanically. These are purely suggestions. Use what you want. After that, I will open the floor for questions about the world and my GM style. I expect this process to take us through tomorrow and the game will begin this weekend. Good luck!

Can a Sohei use Rapid and Manyshot with Flurry of Blows? It seems to be an enigma. The only other class to flurry with a bow is the Zen Archer and they cannot do what is stated above. By default the Sohei can't either? Or because the Sohei must wait longer to get Flurry, it is acceptable? What do you guys think? (Developer opinions highly valued :P)

Greetings and Congratulations. I know that the first post in the game thread is up and you're all dying to get underway, but let's all check in here first and hammer out those last minute details. Like: Are Theodric and Cromwell related? Surely they know each other at least. How do the Lebedas, Garesses, and Medvyeds get on? Are some of you less inclined toward others? Etc.

As quickly as they'd come, the crowd files away. Whether it was to plan for a journey or, for those not chosen, back to cups and bed. Before long, three green adventures: strangers, stand gawking at their own luck before a piece of parchment in an empty courtyard on a cold Pharast morning.
Greetings! I am looking to run this fantastic Sandbox for 4-6 players. I will be modifying the actual Kingdom building rules to make them more suitable for PBP and because those rules can really bog down play. But, that does not come up for a while. Nitty Grutty:
Character Creation Roll two sets of 2d6+6 and arrange them as you like. You cannot pick and choose between sets, you take one or the other. Classes

I will close recruitment when I have enough applicants to choose from or at 10 pm Pacific Time on Friday April 19th: whichever comes first. Good Luck everyone!

You are all gathered in the Great Hall of Lehrehn. Lord Rodrik Rudianos sits before you on an elaborate ebony bench piled so high with pillows that the Lord is barely visible behind all the silk and satin. "I have grave news." He slurps a third oyster. "Jathus, your brother Bearach is missing from the King's council. He arrived 3 days ago with an escort of 30 men. Many and more saw him. Today, he and his men are nowhere to be found." The fat Lord shovels a fourth oyster down his gullet. "You know that Drostan is in the field, dealing with the Fowls of Fairn Forrest, and" his voice takes on a sarcastic edge, "The Grand Confessor cannot be stirred from his sacrifices and droll prattlings. So! It falls to you to represent our house in the King's council. You will arrive late and so lose face. Nothing can be done about this." Rodrik drains a pint of sweet, dark beer. "Also, you must discover what has happened to my heir. For this I am sending Facion. He has proven to be reliable in the past. In this you cannot fail." "I also send with you: Thaegrin of the Ferenwen, may his council serve you as well as he has served me and my fathers before me; Tholan, it is high time he learned to be useful. Keep him close, and by the fires do not let him board a ship!; Your manservant and long-time protector, Wraith; and a contingent of 15 guardsmen, 3 servants, and 1 cook." "You leave tomorrow." If you need to clarify, do so now. It is clear you are to leave. Also, you would all know that only Jathus and Thaegrin should speak in this audience, the others have not earned that right.
House = Rudianos Words = Battle and Bliss This once mighty house has lost some of its luster over the last 2 centuries due to a slave uprising wherein a brilliant slave named Tyro seized control of the country through seduction and strategy at arms. For 18 months, Tyro ruled the Kingdom of Erenon. He was trained at tactics, warfare, and pleasure by House Rudianos. Considered by most to be a minor house, but the Rudianos’ have more potential than people realize. They are known for producing hot-headed, intrepid knights; slaves fit for royal service, and the spice trade. House Rudianos’ ancestral seat is in Lehrehn within the Kingdom of Erenon, but they maintain a sprawling manse in Veir as the port facilitates their slave and spice trade. (You begin in Lehrehn, where knights and slave-soldiers are made) Slavery in allowed in the Kingdoms of Erenon, Isteroth, and Thelkon. The Freeland of Amerys outlawed slavery 20 years ago and opposes it openly. Erenon, particularly house Rudianos, is known for training the best high-end slaves in the known world: bed slaves, scribes, healers, warriors; everything a ruling class could desire. They are very costly and take years to train. Erenon treats its slaves with dignity and respect when possible. Isteroth imports slaves from wherever they may and uses them for mining, farming, logging, and construction. They use they slaves hard and are cruel and careless with them. Thelkon sells the majority of the slaves in the world. With their love of reaving and their population crisis, slaves are easy to find and easier to sell. They are untrained, undisciplined things though. The Freeland of Amerys is a true democracy. Education, Art, and Philosophy are paramount there. Don’t think them weak though, every man is conscripted to fight in the People’s Army from 16-20 and again from 38-50. It is said that if the whole nation was called to arms, they would have close to 100,000 trained swords. This ought to be enough to get you thinking. Make the final touches to your characters. Anga, get yourself leveled up. I have given you only very basic knowledge, the rest you can ask about in discussion. I may require knowledge rolls, but your character must pass on his/her own. Though your stats and abilities peg you as a Pathfinder race, this world consists solely of humans. In other words, regardless of your mechanical race, you are a breed of human in this world. Do you have any questions about the world you live in? Eddric, you are the 4th son of Lord Rodrik Rudianos 3rd of his name. Humans come from everywhere. Thaegrin, you work for House Rudianos and currently reside in Lehrehn. You may decide if you are a slave, were a slave (how did you earn freedom?) or have always been free. The men of long lives (elves) are said to come from the lost Kingdom of Ferawen which is believed to have been in the NW. Wraith, you have the same choices as Thaegrin. Tieflings are curious humans from Acherd Islands, they are generally feared and mistrusted. Anga, what are you thinking? I have heard next to nothing from you about this game.
Hi, So I am running an evil Kingmaker campaign, so far the characters are lvl 2, but I can see some potential trouble coming. These characters are willing to PLAY the good guys
How do I keep this game challenging and fun without stifling their creativity? If you need more info, please ask and I will explain.
Hola Paizonians! I'm playing in the Kingmaker AP right now as a pistolero gunslinger, and, though i like it, it's not really bringing anything useful to the party. We have zero arcane abilities, our highest CHA score is a 13 as a party, and we have zero stealth ability. I would like to fill these roles since my DM has allowed me to bring in a new character, and the old one will become an NPC. I'm disinclined to play a sorcerer, and do not want to play a divine caster. I think that leaves me with only a Bard that can do all of the above. However, I will miss some of the more blasty spells including the all-important AoE effects. What I want is to see what you fine folks can do to get me a stealthy, charismatic caster who won't die immediately in melee and can provide some crowd control and social skills. Use any non-divine class you think would work, but please give a summary of how your build would meet the proposed criteria. Thanks in advance to those that take this seriously and thanks for choosing to use your time to help me out.
Hello all and thanks in advance for your excellent advice! I am going to be running my first PFS games at PaizoCon this year and I was wondering what advice you can give to make my games great and warn me of any pitfalls I should avoid. I have been a GM for several years now, so I have a good, solid foundation. I am really looking for PFS specific advice rather than general GM tips, unless it's a really good tip. Thanks for the help!
