Not to be flip buuuuuut, I took over a game for a GM who bowed out back in April of 2020 (five years ago now) and sent the "Have you taken over an orphaned thread? Do this." email (3-4 times now over the space of months getting an automated reply each time) to what I guess now is a super-heavy dead compacted star, from which not even light can escape.

Any chance we can get that fixed? Eventually, I would like the ability to shut the thread down.

Oddly, I can't find the onsite instructions for the "Have you taken over an orphaned thread? Do this." I only ever stumble upon it by accident--maybe someone could look into that too. Here are the Gameplay and Discussion thread links. If you require anything else from me let me know by way of a 'manual message'. I don't entirely trust the automated one anymore. It lies. Thanks.

"Stay thirsty my friends." ~The World's Most Interesting GM

He doesn't believe in 'game balance'. Gandalf always lets him pass. As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard). The city guard often question him, just because they find him so interesting. His dice bag is woven from tarrasque leather. His TPKs end game lines. His blood cures moderate wounds. He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me. He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is just being him. ♬ He is indeed, the most interesting GM in the world. ♬

Meanwhile, at the Pathfinder Grand Lodge, sometime after midnight...

It is a gloomy Sunday afternoon in the Grand Lodge's mezzanine lounge.

This is the discussion thread for the Outpost III online convention game: Overflow Archives. In order to play in this game you have to have first signed up for it on the Outpost III sign up sheet. General admission sign-up begins on Monday, March 2, 2020.

As this is a discussion thread, we talk about stuff here. But before we do, if everyone who is interested in playing could please provide me with the following info:

Player Name
Character Name
PFS #
Faction
Day Job Roll (if any)
Level Progression Speed (slow or standard)

Initiative Modifier
Perception Modifier
Sense Motive Modifier

If you could then "ghost dot" (post some random text with your character and then delete the post) on the Gameplay thread with the character you are playing so that this game shows up on your campaign page.

    A few quick notes
  • • This is a Standard-mode game. You can play it with a CORE character, but that PC will forever after be considered a Standard character, and not be able to legally participate in any future CORE events.
  • • It is a Tier 1-5 game, so your character must be between 1st and 5th level to play.
  • • Content in “The Overflow Archives” contributes directly to the ongoing 6th season storyline of the Dark Archive faction.
  • • Other than that there are no real special requirements for this adventure (i.e. you do not need a character to have a certain aptitude for Diplomacy or Stealth, nor do you need someone who can survive on their own in arctic-cold or underwater).

About me I am not a pushy GM, but I would like to finish on time. I hate botting people. I'll do it at need, but I have more than enough NPCs to play as it is. You are signing up to play in an RPG game, so play it. Things happen sure, but in general you should be present, and not just for my sake, but for everyone else at the game table too.

I don't put your character in front of the next door they have to kick down, and I certainly don't kick it down for them. That's called: writing a novel. We are here to game. Your character can do as they like (or not) within the game world. You guys are the heroes here, so you move the story. I'm just here to guide you through the world, and to judge the results.

Our official start date is Monday, March 30th.

Stay thirsty my friends.

  • • It is a Tier 1-7 game, so your character must be between 1st and 7th level to play.
  • • At this point, it looks as though we are playing a higher tier game (the first two sign-ups have 7th level characters) so if folks could keep their PC's levels at, or above 4th level that would be great.

So maybe you heard there's this Outhouse II, Signpost II, well, something like one of those. It's an online Play-by-post convention thingy starting in a couple of weeks (March 11th 2019). Well this a recruitment thread for one of those games.

The scenario is Season 10-8 What Prestige is Worth. We are running it hard CORE! (With all the usual CORE mode requirements).

Da pitch wrote:

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 7-11.

Given the countless powerful relics the Pathfinder Society keeps in the vaults beneath the Grand Lodge, it should come as no surprise when there's the occasional magical outburst. However, the most recent incident involves a powerful talisman opening a portal the Hell, and the head curator Zarta Dralneen believes this event is no mere coincidence. Alongside a band of elite Pathfinders, she intends to travel through the portal to the infernal city Dis in order to close the gateway, in the process uncovering Cheliax's secret history, the follies of House Thrune, and what her role will be in the events to come.

Contents in What Prestige is Worth also contribute directly to the ongoing storyline of the Dark Archive faction.

Written by Matt Duval.

Before you sign in here though you should sign in over here first (line 14).

I mean really what is it worth beyond a quiver-full of wands of cure light wounds anyhow?

So I have the stuff in my cart that I want to order (and sidecart) but there's no place on any of the three screens to apply the 10% off holiday code. I've experimented with different shipping options and gift options but there doesn't ever seem to be a place to enter the code. Is it perhaps an eligibility thing?

The Concordance

So, all my posts in any thread default to this (the one posting) icon even though it is not my default icon.

Messageboard thread posts on my LG K30 phone (via Firefox) fall off the right side of the screen (just before the reply button sadly) and cannot be resized to fit, however I can see them just fine if view them in favorites or if I go to the poster's account view them under their 'posts' tab.

There was something else, but I can't remember what it was just now. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT Oh! I can't edit campaign pages I created. This one seems bigger than just me.

After a very late night of carousing with a very interesting man at a local tavern the candidates for confirmation in the prestigious Pathfinder Society went their separate ways to prepare for their early-morning meeting which according to Janira one of the Lodge's newest field agents was in about four hours time. You knew you should have listened to her when as she was leaving she said you should get some sleep, but golly was that man interesting. You could have stayed there until dawn, and you almost did.

If there is anything your character would like to do before 5am-ish local time (Absalom is a city that never sleeps), let me know. Some characters might have lodgings at in the dorms at the Pathfinder Society's Grand Lodge otherwise you can retire where you will if at all.

Note there is a link to the handouts at the top of the thread (called 'Adventure Handouts and Maps'), and at the end of the The World's Most Interesting GM's tagline. Both links lead to the same place.

A few quick notes This is a CORE-mode game, not Standard/Classic. It is a Tier 1-2 game, so your character must be 1st or 2nd level to play. If you are playing this with a 2nd level character realize you can only do that once (per mode) for credit.

The man who is staring at you critically.

After a long night in the company of a very interesting man and several pitchers of wine at the Flaxseed the characters find themselves 'escorted' by Lodge ruffians to the office of Ambrus Valsin, the venture-captain in charge of daily operations in and around the Grand Lodge. The imposing chamberlain greets them--curtly, and motions for them to sit in a cluster of rather severe straight-back chairs. He strides back and forth before them once before diving in.

“All right, prospective pathfinders! Listen up!" The venture-captain takes a moment to make sure he has everyone's attention. "I know you recruits are eager to make names for yourselves in the organization, but hanging out all night in taverns isn't going to help either of us. It's sloppy and suggestive of a decadent borderline depraved mind! So before you sully the name of Pathfinder we need to make sure you are all up to snuff! I have a number of small assignments for you--things I could have any lodge page attend to were they not on retreat. It would be best for your prospective career futures if you could finish them before the day’s end...."

“Every day we get some doe-eyed hopeful or some sniveling bootlicker willing to do anything to join up with the Pathfinders. Some of them are good kids, but not all of them have the salt to make it in the Society. It’s rough out there, and I’m not just talking about the ruins, tombs, and wilderness Pathfinders find themselves in on missions. We’ve got people who look down their noses at us, folks who think we squander our time, and agents who want to take everything we have collected for their own selfish needs." He looks pointedly at each member of the party.

"This wealth of knowledge and these items of lore make us the most powerful organization on the planet. That said, since we are widespread, it’s difficult for that power to light on anything for too long. For every friend of the Society, there are two enemies."

“Your first mission, to test your mettle and loyalties, sends you to meet a few people important to the Society living here in Absalom. These are other venture-captains or close allies of our organization, so--let me be clear--you follow their orders as you would mine. Understood?" He waits for a positive reply, given in a sufficiently enthusiastic manner.

"I’ve prepared a list of things I want you to do." He snatches a large, official envelope off his desk. "They’re not arranged in any particular order of importance, but I want them all completed as quickly as possible. Only report to me once you complete them all. Not a moment before.... Included in the envelope is the list, complete with the name of your contact, and directions to the meeting location.”

"TEN-SHUN! ...Questions?"

So, I couldn't help but notice that Damiel the half-elf iconic alchemist from what we are now calling Pathfinder 1st edition got downsized into a goblin in 2.0 the way Devis the half-elf iconic bard from Dungeons & Dragons 3.0 was replaced with Gimble the gnome in 3.5.

I don't have much to say about this except that I have difficulty seeing goblins (or kobolds, or mites, or those little wads of lard you sometimes find in jars of baked beans) reaching much further than 10th level in most game worlds I've ever heard of, and that hobgoblins seem like they could, realistically, go further. I do think I understand the monetization aspect of the idea, but that's really its own thread.

Did anyone actually know the 1st edition alchemist's name before he got the axe? Or that there even was an iconic for the class? Did you know there was an alchemist class? Is it a half-elf thing, do you think? A letter 'D' thing? Why not replace Amiri, or Merisiel? Do you think the goblin depicted in the new art is actually still Damiel and that what we're seeing is the result of a batch of polyjuice potion that got contaminated by goblin DNA? Those little buggers are into everything. Or do you think that alchemists all shop at the same clothing store regardless of big and tall, or petite status?

Discuss.

Um, there used to be a keyword search bar on the avatar choice menu page.... Considering the number of pages and the slightly haphazard organization structure (some guys are listed as gals, some wizards are sorcerers, some elves are humans, there are occasional spelling errors ["reptilians" and "repitilians" for instance], and whole swathes of characters that don't show up unless you know the right tricks), I found it very helpful. Does anyone know where it went? Is it coming back? How much would it hypothetically cost to fix this--hypothetically?

Feel free to start your character's preliminary "getting to know one another" RP posting in the gameplay thread. Or simply phantom post (post and then delete that post in the gameplay thread so that the scenario shows up on your account's campaign page).

The official start date for this game, and the rest of Outpost, is March 5th, so if you have nothing to say until then that's fine too.

Please remove the Rival Guide from this order. I found another copy elsewhere.

Thanks.

The party is standing on a dock in the Shackles' city of Drench Port staring northward into the century-old hurricane called the Eye of Abendengo, a storm that takes up most of the horizon.

Drench Port (apparently named for the current and prevailing weather) is a free city in the Shackles and a hub for pirates and free-captains. The party was collected together here in a rush, but now they stand waiting for a vessel to collect them and take them to the Arcadian Mariner's Lodge of the Pathfinder Society. Once there they are to be briefed by the dangerous and disreputable ex-Shackles pirate, Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry, for a mission of special interest to the secret cabal that sits atop the Society's hierarchy--the mysterious Decemvirate.

Time they have been told, is against them.

The rain beats down in wind-blown sheets.

Looks like I might have double clicked or failed to eliminate one copy of "Courts of the Shadow Fey" any chance I can just get the one version that comes with the PDF and print copies and leave off the second copy?

Another rainy day in Daggermark. You've been in the City of Assassins and Poisoners now for two dreary days sipping expensive imported coffees in small corner cafe, and specialty book seller called The Last Drop. It is almost dinner time and there's been no sign of your contact, a half-orc explorer and freelance adventurer named Ulisha. She was supposed to be here yesterday wearing white and yellow daisies in her hat's hatband so you could recognize her, Daggermark being more of a tulip town. Instead you waited 10 hours in the coffee shop having to order expensive drinks to retain your seats.

According Janira Gavix your fellow Pathfinder and one-time instructor, and until yesterday, traveling companion, Ulisha is a bit of ne'er-do-well always in and out of trouble and here in the midst of the River Kingdoms, a collection of freebooting micro-realms and city-states one can get into all sorts of trouble. Apparently this time the trouble is too much for Ulisha to handle. She sent word to her contacts to get word to the Pathfinder Society with whom she has had an on again, off again relationship--to tell the Society that she is willing to part with an ancient druidic artifact--the legendary Silverhex. She is willing to sell it to the Society at a deep discount.... Unfortunately the only Society members to get the message and be close enough to reach her in time were yourselves and Janira who where supposed to be on a training mission of sorts to the River Kingdoms, but really it turned out to be an excuse for Janira to get to Daggermark for "important family business". By the time word reached your band there was no time to collect the money from a Lodge (in fact, Lodges are hard to come by in anywhere near the River Kingdoms. So instead the party headed to the clandestine meeting with only the money in their pockets hoping to buy time and get more information.

And so you've been waiting for two days in the expensive coffee shop forced to buy expensive coffee to ward off the stares of the severe-looking gnome barista, all while watching what little money you have disappear on room, board and, of course, coffee. Janira has gone off to her family leaving the group to its own devices, which as newly inducted Pathfinders are few indeed.

Sit down, have a cuppa, (re)introduce yourselves, and figure out what you want to do.

The man who is staring at you critically.

The characters find themselves 'escorted' to the office of Ambrus Valsin, the venture-captain in charge of daily operations in and around the Grand Lodge. The imposing chamberlain greets them--curtly, and motions for them to sit in a cluster of rather severe straight-back chairs. He strides back and forth before them once before diving in.

“All right, prospective pathfinders! Listen up!" The venture -captain takes a moment to make sure he has everyone's attention.

Understood" He waits for a positive reply, given in a sufficiently enthusiastic manner.

Note there is a link to the 'list' at the top of the thread, and at the end of the The World's Most Interesting GM's tagline--just click on 'First Steps'. Both links lead to the same place. There isn't much there now but all the maps and other hands will eventually be revealed there.

And so the candidates for confirmation in the prestigious Pathfinder Society went their separate ways to prepare for their early-morning meeting which was in about five hours time.

If there is anything you would like to do before 5am-ish local time (Absalom is a city that never sleeps), let me know. Some characters might have lodgings at in the dorms at the Pathfinder Society's Grand Lodge otherwise you can retire where you will.

Note there is a link to the handouts at the top of the thread (called 'Adventure Handouts and Maps'), and at the end of the The World's Most Interesting GM's tagline--just click on 'The Confirmation (001)'. There's not much to see there right now, but once we get underway that's where the maps will be. Both links lead to the same place.

The sound of honest laughter bubbles up like fresh water from a spring in one tastefully dim corner of the tavern.

"And she said: Well he was presenting 'alternate facts.'" The the speaker’s dry, masculine delivery provoked another round of laugher from people seated around him.

It was growing late though, and at last the greater bulk of people got up and said their goodbyes. Leaving the interesting man, and a young halfling woman sitting at the large table alone.

The halfling had her elbows on the table, small fists buttressing her chin. Her legs, dangling kicked idly at the air beneath her chair.

"What's wrong Janira?" Asked the man smiling. His eyes crinkled at the corners with genuine affection. He was paying for his departed friends’ drinks with coins seemingly pulled from thin air, and the serving girl's ears. The serving girl giggled.

"I've got to head out in a couple of days for the Kortos Mounts. I'm supposed to be taking a bunch of Society initiates with me, to check up on that—" Janira stops and gives a quick look around. "...that activity I noted in my report a couple of months back. The Master of Scrolls, Dean Shaine, wants to use the trip as their Confirmation. I guess the Lodge is sort of desperate to push initiates into the ranks after all that trouble with their rose garden time-travel contraption, the flair up at the World Wound, and all the recent tangles with the Consortium. I'm not sure I want to be responsible for a bunch of novice treasure hunters who've never set foot out of the Lodge, but the dean mentioned he had a list of top notch agents just waiting to go."

"And this troubles you?" The man says in a tone that suggests he is a bottomless well of compassion.

"Well, you kind of have to know Master Shaine." Says the halfling.

This is a role-playing recruitment for 5-08 The Confirmation (i.e. you have to role-play to get in). So, no list, no lottery, no first come first served--at least not like usual. If you want in, you gotta talk to the man at the head of the table, the halfling sitting across from him, and maybe even each gulp! other first. This is a role-playing game after all. Once we have enough seats plus however many filled, I’ll pick the final crew (probably in about 48 hours). Characters will be chosen on a completely arbitrary, and unfair basis (personality, character concept, group role, legibility of character sheet, shameless bribery, etc…).

The Confirmation is a scenario for levels 1-2. It is "evergreen" for 1st level characters. A player can normally only ever have one 2nd level character receive credit for it per mode (Standard or CORE). We’re playing this one in the Standard mode for Pathfinder Society credit.

So I noticed some "new post" notifications on my campaign page and went to click on them, what I found was an empty page. It lists the posts' numbers that are supposed to be there, but there are no posts on the page--nor any other pages of post on the thread, nor on any other thread.... It is like the page markers for those posts still exist but there are no actual posts.

Basically I cannot see any campaign posts at all, just the pages they are on. I was surprised to see that I could see posts in the Website Feedback area.

As demonstrated by the classic Dos Equis line of ads, there are no end of interesting things that an interesting man can accomplish. The World's Most Interesting GM is such a man, and it is up to us to us to spread his legend.

Here are but a few of the things that have been said about the World's Most Interesting GM:

  • He doesn't believe in game balance.

  • He can speak Osiriani... in Skald.

  • He has won the lifetime RP achievement award… twice.

  • His signature is what the spell arcane mark is based upon.

  • He once taught a Nessian warhound how to bark in Celestial.

  • His TPKs end game lines.

  • The city guard often question him, just because they find him interesting.

  • His blood cures moderate wounds.

  • As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard).

  • Gandalf always lets him pass.

  • He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me.

  • He remembers TORG.

  • His dice only roll 20s... even the d6s.

  • His dice bag is woven out of tarrasque leather.

  • He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is being him.

~Now go forth, and add your intriguing anecdotes to the man, the myth, the legend that is the World's Most Interesting GM. "Stay thirsty my friends."

    Hello,

Can you please combine these 2 orders and double check the shipping as well. I know the shipping can be buggy sometimes with combining orders.

    Thanks,

    maldar

Likewise please. I dropped a non-mint version of one book from order 4057746 to pick up the mint version, but realized too late that I never added it. If it's too much a problem don't worry about it.

    Thanks for your time.

So I was trying to take advantage of the current Paizo clearance sale but am having trouble getting the order to go through.

Part of it is my fault, my MC pre-paid debit card hadn't been activated so I did that. The moment I checked the balance it listed the difference between the order and the original $100 balance, so it is trying to get through, but has not completed the transfer.

Think it might have been a timing thing. I tried processing it again a few minutes later (and again after changing the name on the card to accurately reflect the order name (caps, middle name) and then again and again). And nothing.

I realize it might be something you folks sort out automatically upon arriving to work and getting to it in the queue but I'll be at work most of the day and just wanted to get it noted in case it was not.

Framed Someone you know and love was accused of murder. A supposed eyewitness account from a local fisherman seemed to be enough to seal the case, but the accused had enough alibis that sentencing wasn't immediate. Someone confronted the fisherman and discovered he was intimidated into providing false witness and forced into planting the murder weapon by the actual murderer—a local crime lord named Gaedren Lamm, whose thugs killed the fisherman before he could recant his testimony. Although this removed the key witness and resulted in the accused being set free, the stigma was enough to badly damage the accused's reputation. If you can find Gaedren, you're sure you can find evidence that ties him to the murder and can clear the accused's name.

Vilified: You were the one accused of the murder. Although you were eventually freed when a friend confronted the fisherman and got the truth, the damage had been done. You were vilified in Korvosa, finding it nearly impossible to find work and not getting any help from the local law keepers in finding the main who framed you. You were forced to look into the matter yourself to clear your name. Your long days spent traveling the dangerous parts of the city and your wariness about being watched has made you more aware of your surroundings. You gain a +1 trait bonus on perception checks, and perception is a class skill for you.

Honorable Champion Once per day, if an effect would compel you to harm an ally, abandon an ally, or break your word, you can attempt a Will save at the usual DC to end the effect. If the effect normally allows a Will save at this point, you can roll twice and take the better result.

Bred for War You tower above most other humans and possess a physique of hard, corded muscle. Benefit You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks and a +1 trait bonus on your CMB because of your great size. You must be at least 6 feet tall.

Survivor Years of living in violent squalor have sharpened your senses and given you an ardent distrust of humanity. You gain a +1 trait bonus to initiative and Sense Motive checks. Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.

Pride You can’t abide challenges to your dignity, authority, or honor. When someone threatens, accuses, or challenges you, you take a –2 penalty on Diplomacy checks and Sense Motive checks involving that creature until the creature apologizes to you

Breaker Rush At 1st level, a siegebreaker can attempt bull rush or overrun combat maneuvers without provoking attacks of opportunity. When he performs either combat maneuver, he deals an amount of bludgeoning damage equal to his Strength bonus (minimum 1). If he has Improved Bull Rush or Improved Overrun, the damage dealt by the appropriate maneuver increases by 2 and he adds any enhancement bonus from his armor or shield (though such enhancement bonuses do not stack, if both armor and shield are magic). This ability replaces the feat gained at 1st level.

Armored Vigor (8 HP) (3+con/day) At 2nd level as a swift action, a siegebreaker can gain 2 temporary hit points that last for 1 minute. He can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Constitution modifier (minimum 1 per day), but only while wearing armor. At 6th level and every 4 levels thereafter, the number of temporary hit points the siegebreaker gains increases by 2, to a maximum of 10 at 18th level.

Breaker Momentum At 2nd level, when a siegebreaker successfully bull rushes a foe, he can attempt an overrun combat maneuver check against that foe as a free action.

Armor Training (1) Starting at 3rd level he reduces his armor check penalty by 1 (to a minimum of 0) and increases the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed by his armor by 1. Every four levels thereafter (7th, 11th, and 15th), these bonuses increase by +1 each time, to a maximum –4 reduction of the armor check penalty and a +4 increase of the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed.
In addition, a fighter can also move at his normal speed while wearing medium armor or heavy armor.

Advanced Armored Training: Armored Juggernaut When wearing heavy armor, the fighter gains DR 1/—. At 7th level, the fighter gains DR 1/— when wearing medium armor, and DR 2/— when wearing heavy armor. At 11th level, the fighter gains DR1/— when wearing light armor, DR 2/— when wearing medium armor, and DR 3/— when wearing heavy armor. If the fighter is 19th level and has the armor mastery class feature, these DR values increase by 5. The DR from this ability stacks with that provided by adamantine armor, but not with other forms of damage reduction. This damage reduction does not apply if the fighter is helpless, stunned, or unconscious.

Advanced Armor Training: Adaptable Training The fighter can use his base attack bonus in place of his ranks in Intimidate. The fighter need not be wearing armor or using a shield to use this option. When using adaptable training, the fighter substitutes his total base attack bonus (including his base attack bonus gained through levels in other classes) for his ranks in this skill, but adds the skill’s usual ability score modifier and any other bonuses or penalties that would modify that skill. Once a skill has been selected, it cannot be changed and the fighter can immediately retrain all of his ranks in the selected skill at no additional cost in money or time. In addition, the fighter adds all skills chosen with this option to his list of class skills.

Weapon Training (heavy blades) At 5th level, a fighter selects one group of weapons. He gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with them. At 9th level this bonus increases to +2.

Disorienting Blow At 8th level as an immediate action, after hitting with an attack or combat maneuver he can impose a –2 penalty on the foe’s attack rolls, caster level checks, or skill checks for 1 round. The foe can negate this penalty with a successful Fortitude save (DC = 10 + 1/2 the siegebreaker’s fighter level + his Strength modifier). At 14th level, the penalty increases to –4.

Advanced Weapon Training (Abundant Tactics) The fighter adds his weapon training bonus to the number of times per day he can use a combat feat he has that allows a limited number of daily uses, such as the Barroom Brawler feat.

    Background:
Background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character.

    1) Marcus has a strict code for himself that he never breaks. It is not as complex or grandiose as the codes of paladins or monks, and it is but one rule: His word is his bond. When he says he will do something, it will be done or he will be a corpse. He does not lie or mislead. His word is a more sturdy foundation than the ground beneath your feet.
    2) He was raised in a military campaign, to a free company of mercenaries called The Winged Company. It wasn't an easy way to be raised, by a company of mercenaries who knew little but violence and consisting almost entirely of men, but it was not devoid of warmth. His father, Clyde Havel, is the leader of The Winged Company and leads from atop his hippogriff from which the group gets its name. Marcus and Clyde both agree that Marcus needs to spread his own wings and make a future for himself out of The Winged Company, and he set out for Korvosa to start his future.
    3) Even dwarves jest about how Marcus's frown must be carved out of stone, for it seems permanently chiseled to his face as if everything he gazes upon he disapproves of. He has the various scars that a hard man living a mercantile life would be expected to have, and a very notable one crossing above his left eye that looks like it nearly ended his life.
    4) While in Korvosa he made some coin working various rough jobs, usually as a bouncer or bodyguard. Marcus was guarding a shipment by the docks when he spotted someone attempting to climb the side of the ship. He raised a cry and chased after the person, eventually cornering him, but the would-be-thief had found a hostage. The man threatened Marcus to leave, saying Gaedren Lamm wouldn’t be happy if he didn’t make it back. Marcus tried to save her, but the thief cut her throat and threw her body at him. He tried to save her life but had no skill in healing, and when the guard found him all they saw was a thug holding a corpse.
    5) Marcus was suddenly freed one day. He wasn’t told the details and the guard seemed none too happy about his release. He doesn’t know why he was released or who may have pulled strings on his behalf. It was a sour moment for him; he had his freedom, but the guard all knew his face and refused to help him, either in finding more information about his father or the thief, or whoever gave testimony to frame him. Now he is on a warpath to clear his name, and his only lead was the name said that night. Gaedren Lamm.

Goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.

    1) He wants to know the truth of his father's past, and setting out for Korvosa was no accident. The Sable Company should have answers for him.
    2) He wants to own his own mercenary company, or something similar.
    3) Marcus has never known love of kindness outside what little his mother could provide. He is a hard man to his core and it would be interesting to see how he interacted with the chance for something softer.

Secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet.

    1) His father used to be a member of The Sable Company, and he still has his hippogriff from his days with them. The other men whisper rumors about what may have happened, but Clyde never speaks of it, and Marcus doesn't know what happened.
    2) Lily is actually a bastard of important nobility, and her mother had hid her away in an attempt to protect her. Need to work with GM to decide if/how this will work.

People that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile.

    1) Clyde Havel. Marcus’s father, a hard man with a rebellious but honor-bound nature. A man that lives life to its fullest, which in his case is on the edge of a blade, although he is starting to get past his prime. Has a mysterious past that Marcus wants to unveil.
    2) A mysterious benefactor, whose name Marcus does not know. Somebody pulled strings to get him out of prison, that much is clear to him, but who they are or why they did it he has no idea. Perhaps somebody who has a bone to pick with Gaedren Lamm? Perhaps an old friend of his father who owed the old man a debt? He is sure the person will reveal themselves in time.
    3) Varnic, a man who Marcus met for only the briefest moment one night, and who he barely remembers. A spoiled noble brat who was trying a little too hard to get lucky one night in a bar where Marcus was working as a bouncer. When the woman cried out for help he didn’t bother asking questions, swiftly breaking Varnic’s nose before throwing him out. To Marcus it was just another drunk man getting too handsy, nothing out of the ordinary. But once Varnic sobered up and gathered his wits, he was seething in anger, his perfect nose on his handsome face forever marred, and some pathetic lowly thug was to blame. He intends to make Marcus suffer.

Memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has.

    1) Marcus is a stalwart man of hard resolve. He believes that a man's word is everything, and even if it kills you there's no excuse to break it. Loyal and stubborn to a fault, Marcus works best in an environment of strict rules and hierarchy, and believes that is what's best for society as well. He cares little for titles and birthrights, thinking that all that makes a person is their actions.
    2) Marcus’s face seemed to be chiseled out of stone, even the local dwarves make fun of it. This is a combination of the wear and tear it has seen from decades of harsh sun, the numerous scars that cross it, and a frown that seems so permanent and unmoving it seems to have been etched in place. Nobody who deals with Marcus seems to have ever seen him smile, or even seem happy.
    3) Marcus refuses to sleep in a bed, or anything else that is too comfortable like a couch or a cushioned chair. He will take a bench, the floor, or even the street over anything that actually seems somewhat cushy. He thinks the idea of a place of rest makes people soft and leaves them vulnerable to being caught off guard, a habit he brought over from decades of sleeping in the wilderness where bandits and wild creatures were a constant threat. To this day he refuses to ever sleep in a comfortable way.

    Appearance:
Marcus is a large man with broad shoulders and a wide frame. He has close-cropped brown hair and hard brown eyes, and frown lines that look like they've been chiseled out of stone. Faint scars cross over his exposed skin, most notably a large one crossing above his left eye.

    Bull Rush / Overrun Rulings:
Bull Rushing somebody who is grappled
If you bull rush someone that is grappled, and the bull rush succeeds at moving the thing such that it is no longer in range of its grappled defender, the controlling grappled gets to make a CMB reactively to drag their grapple target with them. This is not an action.
