The World's Most Interesting GM |

This is the discussion thread for What Prestige is Worth. We talk about stuff here. But before we do, if everyone who is interested in playing could please provide me with the following info:
Player Name
Character Name
PFS #
Faction
Day Job Roll (if any)
Level Progression Speed (slow or standard)
Initiative Modifier
Perception Modifier
Sense Motive Modifier
... And then ghost dot (post some random text with your character and then delete the post) in on the Gameplay thread with the character you are playing so that this game shows up on your campaign page (and so you don't wake the little sleeping angel).
A few quick notes This is a CORE game so CORE and chronicle source-based characters only. Do not bring your Leshy Investigator here--at least not without some damn good sources. It is a Tier 7-11 game, so your character must between 7th and 11th level to play.
I am not a pushy GM, but I would like to finish on time. I hate botting people. I'll do it at need, but I have enough NPCs to play as it is. In general, I don't put your character in front of the next door they have to kick down, and I certainly don't kick it down for them. That's called: writing a novel. We're here to game. Your character can do as they like (or not) within the game world. You guys are the heroes here, you move the story. I'm just the guide.
You probably want to bring a character who is adaptable and outdoorsy unless of course you like comedy, in which case the sky's the limit.
Start date: Mondayish, March 11th.
Stay thirsty my friends.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Yeah! That's 3--that's the magic number!
Now let's go to hell everyone! ;)

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Please make sure all your info is up-to-date on the Outpost II sign-in sheet because I am pretty sure that's where much of the info for credit where credit is due on chronicle sheets is coming from.
Make sure you are indeed CORE-mode compliant, because this is a CORE game.
I have rolled a handy d11 and randomly selected the a 7th level regenerated rogue to be you traveling companion to go along with the other Party NPC I have to play. So if you folks do find someone with an in tier character who can claim that 4th spot that would certainly lighten my load be much appreciated. I could see my way toward giving your character about 130,000 steel coins from Krynn (otherwise known as 'washers' here in the real world), but hey, I'm sure they are worth something, and they weigh as much as real coins do so there's always that.
The APL as it stands is 8.25 so the game is currently low tier with four member party adjustments in play.
And! I'm going to need a--

Leisirem, the Shiv |

MARCHING ORDER!
1.
2.
3.
4. Leisirem, the Shiv (Not first! No tag backs! He'll head to the front when he 'feels' he's needed.)
This is to determine your default marching order. This is the party's general marching order, at times when someone wants to scout ahead or protect the rear the positions will change. Note at times when more than one character can walk abreast the next person in line will step up to do so by default. Please argue among yourselves for position and remember--{the GM hands out baseball bats, and lead pipes at this point}--last one to post about the marching order goes first!
Please reply to the post and put yourself (and maybe your friends) where you want to be. Feel free to discuss the topic with each other reassigning spaces and suggesting possibilities based on tactics, preference, AC, trap-spotting ability, stealth scores, etc....

If we are low tier with the 4 player adjust then I wont bring a level 11 character as that seems rreally excessive (even though its probably perfect for him). Instead I will switch to a level 9 Bard.

If somehow we do end up in high tier I will switch back to Logan. Chandu is happy at position two. She does like to be at the front as she uses a reach weapon and has combat reflexes.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

@GM I can be in charge of the rogue pregen if you want.
Thanks, but playing the rogue shouldn't be too terrible. Merisiel has no social skill whatsoever, so Leisirem will just be laconic and pointy. I already have an elf like that.

Just a quick maths question (I will be checking everyone this weekend).
perform +24 = +4 (Cha mod w/ headband) +9 (ranks) +3 (class skill) + 3 (Skill Focus) +3 (circlet) = I'm coming up with 22. There's probably something I'm not seeing, but well, I'm not seeing it. ;)
I'll also mention that our special guest NPC is also a bard but beyond that she's not at all like Chandu. All that means is that Chandu won't have to concentrate so much on party wide effects, and dive right into whatever there is to dive into.

She carries various masterwork tools, I generally assume they dont apply in combat as they take time to make use of.

Ah! A graduate of the classical Gallagher School of rhetoric. No earthbreaker? ;)
Perform (oration) "Testing 1, 2, 3. Is this thing on?"
Thanks for the info.

I signed up on the Outpost II - sheet. Are spots still available for a 9th Core Cleric?

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Sure thing! And with your PC we make four! Standard table!

The World's Most Interesting GM |

So we might want to reconsider the Marching Order now that Leisirem is no longer needed.
MARCHING ORDER!
1. Shrec
2. Chandu
3. Jair
4.

![]() |

Agreed - and Lasaraleen can proceed or serve rear-guard, if needed. Will coordinate spells with Jair once we start.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

So before we officially begin on Monday there are a few things I need to know. Normally, when in Absalom where does your PC stay? What do they do? (This second question also goes to the question of spell selection--what's your characters normal daily routine spell load out? When do you pray/prepare? Do you leave slots open for later in the day? That sort of thing.)
Second, who here among the PCs has any background with Paracountess Zarta Dralneen? Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin? The Infernal Empire of Cheliax? Details (juicy or otherwise) please. Much of these should come directly from your PC's chronicle sheets and personal role-playing experiences in past Pathfinder Society games with the entities listed above.

![]() |

Jair found evidences of Zarta's emprisonement and false accusation (#4-11) and she's also part of the Dark Archive. As for Ambrus, she knows him, but nothing more.
Jair comes from Westcrown, but apart from that, she never went back to Cheliax.
As for her daily routine at Absalom, she's often in the libraries and vaults of the Dark Archive, she certainly have one spell per level blank to face any unusual situation that could come with the relics stored in it.

![]() |

Chandu stays in the Grand Lodge normally. She runs classes for trainee pathfinders working towards their confirmation.
She has no direct connection with Cheliax. She is however the illegitimate daughter of Venture Captain Antonius Gallonica who runs a secret lodge in Egorian. She is unaware of her parentage.

Shrec the Powerful |

Shrec visits the nearest jails and dresses up, pretending to be a prisoner. He made a deal with one of the guards to make him a fake prisoner and tells him when he has to go leave to adventure. Kind of like that show 60 day lookup where inmates are implanted to pretend to be prisoners.
PC, even the PFS one I'm applying to would have no ties to any of them (Unless Hells Rebels is tied to those guys, I played a Pregen there as well).

![]() |

Lasaraleen has her normal spell load out on her sheet with few modifications depending on party makeup or mission.
She does not normally leave slots open. She prays and recovers spells at dawn.
She has had missions for Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin and within The Infernal Empire of Cheliax. I am checking for any experience with Zarta Dralneen

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Um, I hear you guys can use another body? I only have a level one CORE character, but I don't mind playing a pregen if it helps fill out the table. c:
(But I also see you have four people, so if you're set and good, I'm totally also okay with just poofing into the void to seek another game.)
Sure. The more the merrier!
Because this is a CORE game, and because of the levels involved if you are going to play a pre-generated character you'll have to choose a 7th level character from Core Rule book. You can download all of the Pregens from this page (scroll 'up' and look to the right). They're free. Oh and I think HeroLab either has them included or they are available for it from somewhere.
Note Since we have two pregens, I'm adding the Rules for them and their role in the PFS below.
PREGENERATED CHARACTERS
If you don’t have time to create a new character or simply wish to try out a new character class, you can use a pregenerated character. The Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild offers pregenerated characters based on the Pathfinder RPG’s iconic characters, available at paizo.com/communityuse/package or from your local event coordinator. When using a pregenerated character in this way, the player applies the adventure’s credit (gp, Prestige Points, etc.) to one of her Roleplaying Guild characters. The following rules apply when playing pregenerated characters.Making Character Choices: Before the game, make the following choices about your character.
• Choose one of the pregenerated characters available in Community Use Package: Pathfinder Society Pregenerated Characters at paizo.com/communityuse/package.
• You must choose to which of your characters the credit will be applied at the beginning of the adventure. Credit from a 1st-level pregenerated character can be applied only to a 1st-level character. Credit for playing higher-level pregenerated characters must be applied to a Roleplaying Guild character of a lower level than the pregenerated character or to a 1st-level character.
Resolving Conditions: During play, you may need to resolve various conditions that affect your character. Throughout the adventure, the pregenerated character might accrue unfortunate conditions such as a curse, disease, or even death. The pregenerated character must always clear and resolve these conditions before the end of the adventure; otherwise, they affect the Roleplaying Guild character. A few adventures, such We Be Goblins, have special rules for pregenerated characters that bypass the need to clear conditions.
• The Roleplaying Guild character must contribute a minimum amount of gold to cover the costs before using any of the pregenerated character’s wealth, depending on the pregenerated character’s level: 0 gp for a 1st-level pregenerated character, 1,000 gp for 4th-level, and 2,000 gp for 7th-level. If you are playing a pregenerated character in a scenario in which all players are required to use pregenerated characters, you do not need to contribute to this minimum.
• After applying Roleplaying Guild character resources, the player can use the pregenerated character’s funds to pay for these spellcasting services. If sold to pay for condition removal, a 1st-level character’s gear is worth 75 gold pieces, a 4th-level character is worth 3,000 gold pieces and a 7th-level character is worth 11,500 gold pieces.
• The Roleplaying Guild character can spend Prestige Points to help offset the gold cost of raising a pregenerated character from the dead. She may pay up to half of the cost of raise dead, resurrection, or true resurrection with Prestige Points, at a rate of 1 PP = 375 gold pieces.
• The character can use the gold and prestige that she has earned on the Chronicle sheet for the current adventure to help pay for condition removal.
• If more resources are needed to pay for the cost of the services, players at the table can, but are not required to, contribute some of their own gold pieces.
Applying Credit: You may apply credit for an adventure once your Roleplaying Guild character reaches the level of the pregenerated character used to play through it. For example, if you played a 7th-level pregenerated character, you would apply the credit once your character reaches 7th level. To apply credit, follow the steps below.
• Apply the credit for eligible adventures in the order in which they were played.
• If you apply credit for multiple adventures at once, your Roleplaying Guild character might advance multiple levels. The character’s level cannot exceed the tier range of any Chronicle sheets applied to her.
• You can apply credit from a higher-tier adventure to a 1st-level Roleplaying Guild character. When doing so, reduce the gp reward to 500 gp if the adventure grants 1 XP or 1,398 gp if it grants 3 XP. You do not benefit from any boons until your Roleplaying Guild character reaches the minimum level listed on the Chronicle sheet, unless otherwise noted.
Downtime: Pregenerated characters can participate in Downtime activities as long as they have the appropriate skills to do so. See Appendix 4: After the Adventure for more details.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Lasaraleen has her normal spell load out on her sheet with few modifications depending on party makeup or mission.
Feel free to look around at what people have got going on right now on their character pages. (You all got your character pages finished, right?) Compare your notes here on the discussion thread.
If your PC's actually know one another in-game they can of course meet up and compare notes (or punch each other's lights out--based on your previous interactions, and opinions of one-another) though there is no 'mission' until I post it tomorrow. The only meta-knowledge you are allowed at present is the blurb on the campaign page.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Yep, assuming the character is still 1st level (i.e. If you have GM credits to add--maybe do that later).
Looking at the above we have: a fighter, 2 clerics, and a bard with a prestige class. The adventure makes clear that at least some of the time you will be hanging out the Paracountess Dralneen (herself a more traditional bard than the PC bard). So you can certainly play a bard just realize you might be fighting for screen time with your fellow divas. Also you don't have to play Lem as 'Lem'. If you want you can play as Mel, Lem's one-time love interest who just so happens to like taller men or taller girls (gnome girls) or whatever. You just have to play Lem's stats. Just look to my Merisiel clone above for another clone, or to party member Shrec who's playing Valeros's statblock.
Given the above (and I haven't looked at everyone yet) I would say that the party probably is looking for either a more focused arcane caster a wizard or a sorcerer. Alternatively, your first CORE character was monk right? This is your chance for a preview of what a mid-level monk can do.

hiyami |

Hmmm, I think I want to try monk from the bottom-up so I don't get confused about what I should/shouldn't or can/can't do. I think I'll swap over to sorcerer, then! c:
I'll definitely go and eyeball Seoni and see what's up. I really like the idea of reskinning characters. C:
Edit: How is Leona?

![]() |

Lasaraleen will keep her spells as posted. She has traveled recently with Jair (a harrowing experience for their entire group).
She also has experience with Paracountess Zarta
If more specifics are needed, her full list of scenarios is listed under 'missions' on her sheet.
She normally stays at the Temple of Sarenrae while in Absalom (or any city with such a temple).

hiyami |

\o/ Woooo~
Player Name hiyami
Character Name Leona, clone of Seoni... But this is being applied to Takilya Baki
PFS # 208483-10
Faction
Day Job Roll (if any) None
Level Progression Speed Standard
Initiative Modifier +6
Perception Modifier +3
Sense Motive Modifier +4
Leona is a pre-gen clone, so... When in Absalom, she'd normally stay with either fellow Pathfinder agents overnight in their homes as a guest or in any of the inns and taverns that happen to have a spare room (and optimally a discount!). On days off, she'll try her hand at experimenting with different magical effects, though she's usually more likely to cause a mess than make any actual progress.
Also, preparations? What preparations? As a sorcerer, Leona likes to keep her magic adaptable and ready for anything!
As this particular adventure is going to be held for a level one character, I think she has... little experience with any of these people? :D

The World's Most Interesting GM |

What is Takilya Baki's faction going to be?

The World's Most Interesting GM |

To be clear, you can take the time to prepare new spells and purchase items over Zarta's objections, but it does take time. I would suggest deciding here on the discussion thread (out of character) what you would like to do.

![]() |

If we only have 48 hours I would not want to wait an entire day to prepare new spells. If you have slots open to fill that would seem to be fine.

![]() |

Yes with the time crunch let's just go. I realized planar adaptation we do no have access in core anyway.

![]() |

Hail!
Is there still opportunity to join?
I've just found this game.
If I arived too late - kick me off without hesitations :)
If its ok to get me onboard, here is some info:
Player Name: Kirill Shtorm
Character Name: Atum Shane
PFS #: 157437-11
Faction: Scaram Sage
Day Job Roll (if any): Craft 17+d20
Level Progression Speed (slow or standard): Standard
Initiative Modifier: +8
Perception Modifier: +11 (and some Familiar help)
Sense Motive Modifier: +2

![]() |

Oh, I see, gameplay is far away from the adventures start, so probably I'd better to go and find another Core game.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

True, we are underway and have even had our first encounter but there is still space and if you can get your character page up to speed, and feel like you can read through the previous posts to see what is going on, you can still sit in. Hell after all is a big place.

![]() |

Okay, I am starting to post today. If you need main characters avatar, here is it: https://yadi.sk/i/WL4EwoC7LdMS5g

![]() |

I am checking- I am assuming protection from fire is not particularly aligned. But the use of protection from evil would. So my question is whether a concentration check is needed for using wands or scrolls or just from memory?

![]() |

Protection from evil is a good spell so would need a DC21 caster level check using the wands caster level. I would skip it.

Shrec the Powerful |

I am enjoying this game. This outpost II, I decided to take on as many games as possible, so I'll definitely be lacking in roleplay as a result, but give the character a nudge if you want him to interact with party, NPCs.

The World's Most Interesting GM |
