The World's Most Interesting GM |

This is the discussion thread for Oathbreakers Die. We talk about stuff here. But before we do, if everyone who is interested in playing could please provide me with the following info:
Player Name
Character Name
PFS #
Faction
Day Job Roll (if any)
Level Progression Speed (slow or standard)
Initiative Modifier
Perception Modifier
Sense Motive Modifier
... And then ghost dot (post some random text with your character and then delete the post) in on the Gameplay thread with the character you are playing so that this game shows up on your campaign page.
A few quick notes This is a Classic/Standard-mode game, not CORE. It is a Tier 1-5 game, so your character must between 1st and 5th level to play.
I am not a pushy GM, but I would like to finish on time. I hate botting people. I'll do it at need, but I have enough NPCs to play as it is. In general, I don't put your character in front of the next door they have to kick down, and I certainly don't kick it down for them. That's called: writing a novel. We're here to game. Your character can do as they like (or not) within the game world. You guys are the heroes here, you move the story. I'm just the guide.
This is a city-based adventure so no war mammoths please.
Start date: Mondayish, March 11th.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Andolyn will be level 3 by March 11th.

Sooo...I'm having a bit of trouble picking a character. What would people like?
A Thief?
An aspiring Illuminatrix?
An Investigator of unorthodox, and more than a bit disturbing, methods?
An Inquisitor?
A golden-eyed, silver-tongued, thoroughly Byronic prodigal Dark Lord?
A creeeeeepy Fighter?
Something else...?

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Having read and played the adventure I can say that a good mix of the old classic class-types (cleric, fighter, magic-user, thief) or characters who can cover those bases would be best. A "face" and a spare fighter might also be useful. This adventure throws a lot at the party in rapid succession. Characters might have to adapt on the fly.

![]() |

Who/what else have we already got?

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Everyone above and an inquisitor on the sign up sheet.

![]() |

Actually, wait: I DO know who I should be for this...!:
Player Name I'm Hiding In Your Closet
Character Name Ekanta Hanoi
PFS # 40025-15
Faction Grand Lodge
Day Job Roll Craft (Boneworking), guidance from Jade Wayfinder: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 I will wish to use my folio reroll on this if I haven't used it on anything else before the end
Level Progression Speed standard
Initiative Modifier +3
Perception Modifier +8
Sense Motive Modifier +7
Nota Bene: Possessing the Soul Seer alternate race feature, Ekanta can manifest deathwatch at will, so please consider that to effectively be always active.
I realize this presently makes us very warrior-heavy, but this really is nearly an ideal character for this adventure; hopefully we'll still get our thief and mage somehow.

![]() |

So a brawler, an inquisitor, a fighter, and a fighter/bloodrager walk into a bar. The GM presents them with an arcane trap and they all die. The end.
I’m a little concerned about our party makeup.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

In one of the games I am playing ins composition started with sorcerer, wizard, sorcerer and wizard with a level of fighter.
I haven't taken a deep look at anyone yet but I think I like this mix better than the one I just mentioned. At least it has some hp. That said most of this adventure is a race against time rather than a beat 'em up, so someone with some more arcane, rogue, and/or clerical ability would probably help to round out the crew.

![]() |

I intend to bring Janus Grey, inquisitor of Imbrex and former Vessel Between.
Janus is a rogue-like with good stealth and perception skills. He doesn't have trapfinding or disable device, but he does have a skeleton key. He is trained in Knowledge (arcana) and spellcraft, but doesn't have a high bonus.
He should be level 4 by the start of this scenario, providing he survives the mini-convention I'm attending next weekend. This will give him sneak attack and level 2 spells.
Janus has the Daggermark regional trait and is a native of the River Kingdoms (see Background in profile). He's an ethnic ulfen because he's from Uringen. Being fey-touched I think he's going to have some interesting RP with Ekanta.
(I often use they/them pronouns for Janus and their familiar 'Janus Too', just because they are sexless and a pair like their god).
standard gubbins:
Player Name: supervilan
Character Name: Janus Grey
PFS #: 75577-10
Faction: Dark Archive
Day Job Roll (if any): normally uses survival, will roll later though as mod is likely to change.
Standard progression
Initiative Modifier: +4
Perception Modifier: +8 (10)
Sense Motive Modifier: +7 (9)
Sense Motive and Perception have higher values when familiar is close, and both will probably increase at level 4.

![]() |

I must apologise and withdraw from the game. A friend of mine (and a character with which my character has a history) has signed up for a different game for this convention. As such, I’ve shifted Craggark to join him and that game.
I wish y’all the best! In my absence, this might allow you more of a chance to recruit an arcane caster!
GM, I will game with you in the future, to be sure. Would you kindly remove me from this thread?
Thanks.

The same goes for "Skiron", who "ninja-dotted" in for me; I love him, but he is most definitely NOT a Pathfinder Society character!

There's a lot of time left, but I wanted to drop in and remind folks to complete filling out their info on the sign-up sheet. I'm pretty sure the smart people who designed it made the way they did to give everyone game credit where credit is due by simply dropping the spreadsheet's info as typed into some automated form. So double check your names, numbers and such.
Right now, the Average Party Level sits at 3.33 (1+2+3+4+5+5=20/6). With six PCs that means we are playing in subtier 4-5 with the four-character adjustment. Be sure you are cool with that and if you want to swap characters just lemme know.
Use the time until the game to take a look around at the other characters, figure out your spells, tactics, default marching order, etc.... And feel free to discuss it all here.

![]() |

I'm fine doing a 4-5 with a 4 player adjustment, though since I'll be in tier, that's easier to say. I'd prefer to play with this character since he's also from the River Kingdoms, but I've made several PFS characters in the last two weeks, so if we want to go low tier, I can jump to someone else. Hosser doesn't have darkvision, so I usually prepare light, but since we have multiple casters, maybe only one of us should do it?
Also, I figured I should prepare detect poison, since it takes place in Daggermark, the home of poisoners and assassins.

![]() |

As an inquisitor, Janus' spells are fixed. They have Detect Poison, Detect Magic, and all the Detect [alignment] spells. Janus has limited Spellcraft though. They have both an ioun torch and a wayfinder for light.
I'm keen to play the River Kingdoms scenarios with Janus, so would prefer not to switch tiers. Being out-of-tier wouldn't be a disaster though.
As far as combat tactics go, think of Janus as a stealthy shock trooper. AC is too poor to tank, but the human Janus has high potential damage output when flanking. The crocodile Janus is mainly used to give a flank and Aid Another.

![]() |

Andolyn will be at 3.2. She's fine playing up. She's got a decent AC after having been given free Grey Maiden Plate from her archetype!
After tomorrow's IRL PFS session, I'll get her character sheet current here and she'll be ready to go.

Be aware, this adventure starts in a city and unless your croc is stuffed and hanging from wires in a wizard's laboratory, or somehow disguised as luggage, it won't be anymore welcome than a pet liger would be in most towns today.
Perhaps a big curly wig might be in order.

![]() |

He weighs about 12 pounds. I typically carry him around under my arm, given that he has a land speed of 10 :D He might look like a pet lizard maybe?
I could live with the curly wig though (and I do have a disguise kit).

The World's Most Interesting GM |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Well, you could disguise him as your "man bag". You will of course have to grow a thin beard, wear slim trousers and a jacket with elbow patches, and pay gold for your coffee--but it might just work. ;)

![]() |

You know what? I've changed my mind about who to bring to this adventure - mainly because I think YOU, DM, would enjoy this character a great deal more....
Player Name I'm Hiding In Your Closet
Character Name Sirius Sa'luk, AKA "The Lucky Dog", "that thieving bastard", "HOW MANY TIMES MUST I KILL YOU?!?", and worse, etc.

Sorry I was watching the Outpost Excel sheet but didn't click on the Link. Chorlo is ready whenever.
Well then! What exciting things are your characters up to leading up to this adventure? Please describe.

![]() |

Chorlo being a Lamp Lighter in Absolam while not out on Pathfinder missions is helping out presently with the Eagle knights. Making sure that one of their holds is properly secured and lit to new specifications that have come down from the city council. Also apparently all the streets and sewer entrances are to be lit as well, despite a growing push back from some of the locals.

![]() |

The Januses, when not on missions with the Society, reside at the Gristmill on the edge of Embeth Forest, in their home town of Uringen.
They assist Venture Captain Sayrin Firewyne in her research into the Fey and the First World, and study under her. They earn a little coin and hone their woodscraft guiding hunters through the forest.

![]() |

Will be updating sheet by end of month!
Andolyn awaits Pathfinder summons fulfilling her duties to the Erinyes Company of Cheliax. The up-and-ups know not to send her on clearly evil missions, and they explicitly ignore the Pathfinder involvement. Maybe because they're getting a small bit of, but potentially vital, information from her every time she heads out. She doesn't question it.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Then I would suggest avoiding "Race for the Rune-Carved Key" (becoming a highwayman on a Venture-Captain's direct orders), and "Silverhex Chronicles" (helping a grave robber rob graves and steal from people you don't know).
So I assume you are working undercover for the Society (or yourself) within the Erinyes Company--themselves an evil, devil-worshiping organization.
Folks who haven't chimed in, what your characters up to?

![]() |

Hosser, being mostly a GM baby, doesn't go into the field that often. The Creadys are a clan of half-orcs who farm some land south of Deadbridge, and the Cready Farm often hosts crusaders who traveling north the Sellen River to the Worldwound. Last field assignment had him climbing a mountain in Taldor infested with Zyphus cultists.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Verrrry interesting.

On orders of venture captains, she may break local laws. But....ONLY THEN! Haha! Technically, Andolyn has her own motives for working for both, but the reality is that her vigilante identity loves Cheliax, and her social identity loves the Society. So, they agree in a common ground: We should do both. 'Cuz for some reason we can.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Time for everyone's favorite mini-game: Marching Order! This is to determine your default marching order. This is the party's general marching order, at times when someone wants to scout ahead or protect the rear the positions will change. Note at times when more than one character can walk abreast the next person in line will step up to do so by default.
Please reply to the post and put yourself where you want to be. Feel free to discuss the topic with each other and suggest possibilities based on tactics, preference, AC, trap-spotting ability, stealth scores, and who has the biggest beat stick and is willing to use it to get their own way.
MARCHING ORDER!
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

![]() |

So our line-up includes:
Andolyn, a heavily armoured vigilante
Janus, a stealthy double-flail wielder (with "man-bag")
Sirius, a master thief (though not a trap-finder)
Chorlo, a lamplighter investigator (and trap-finder)
Hosser, a priest in full plate
Jurmo, a very squishy evoker
Normally I'd suggest that Janus go in the second rank, behind the heavy armour guys, given his dodgy AC. However in this party they're one of the higher level characters with more hp than anyone else (I think). Janus also has decent stealth, survival and perception skills.
I propose I take position 2, but I don't mind alternative options.
- 1.
- 2. Januses
- 3.
- 4.
- 5.
- 6.
Janus will not want to hold Janus Too under their arms if going single file in a dungeon corridor though - if that happens, the plan will be to put Expeditious Retreat on Janus Too and go along adjacent to each other.

![]() |

CHorlo really should be in the middle, his HP is mid line as well as his AC.
He can do an opening volley with his bow then switch to his Sword Cane as needed. Chorlo will look for traps and such as well.,

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Last one to post goes up front! ;)

![]() |

I'm fine going first if no one else is, since I'm in heavy armor and high level. I'm not much of an offensive threat, but I'll take a hit in the face.

![]() |

We appear to have a discrepancy between the signup spreadsheet and this thread. On the signup sheet Chorlo is down for Gm Doom N Gloom's table, and we have Crusader Wolf's Ean Rulnas expected here.
It wouldn't change our tier if we kept Chorlo, but Doom N Gloom's table looks firmly low tier and a level 5 fighter wouldn't enjoy that as much I fear.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Indeed. The problems with putting the links so close together on the sign up sheet I suppose. Chorlo looks like you are at the wrong table this time.
In other news Hiding still needs to dot in with his last character choice, and Jurmo needs to dot in as well on the gameplay page.
I'll contact CrusaderWolf, and Jurmo.

![]() |

I would like to be in the middle, I'd like to see second level

![]() |

Ahh sorry, I clicked the link but as you say must have got the wrong one.
Sorry again.
Can you please remove me from the Character list?

The World's Most Interesting GM |

DONE! And of course good luck, Chorlo.
I would like to be in the middle, I'd like to see second level
Well, you can certainly see it. It's just like seeing the Death Star in Rogue One. It's just there on the horizon, affecting your tidal forces with its tremendous friendly, bubble-shaped bulk. Then there's a bright green light and poof! You've made it... Or not. ;) It should be fine. I mean it's Daggermark for Cayden's sake. How dangerous can it be?! My other Outpost game is set in Dis!
Also just a quick reminder make sure your info on the sign-up sheet is correct. I'm pretty sure the smart people who designed it made the way they did to give everyone game credit where credit is due by simply dropping the spreadsheet's info as typed into some automated form. So double check your names, numbers and such. I know I don't have Eun's character number.
And remember, the last one to update the Marching Order list goes first. ;)

The World's Most Interesting GM |

By the way, the Daggermark link above is mostly common knowledge so give it a read. One can assume that those unfamiliar with the place take the time to research it on their way there--which might take a couple of weeks given the lack of decent roads in the River Kingdoms.

![]() |

Tentative marching order suggestion then:

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Dug up the character sheet I haven't looked at in two years, and the character is level 6 and thus can't be played here. My bad, I'll print off a pregen since I have no appropriately-leveled characters.
Any clue on 1st or 4th level? If it is 1st then we are running straight low tier. If it 4th then the game is high-tier with the 4 player adjustment.
