You find yourself in the Ol’ Boar Inn in the small town of Oakhurst. You either arrived last night and stayed the night or you have just arrived this mid-morning, but the barkeep, Garon, is standing behind the counter making sure things are running as orderly as possible. Two young bar maids work the room, both vaguely resemble Garon.

Looking around the room, you see what you would expect in a tavern mid-morning. Travelers, or farmhands that have finished up their morning chores ahead of schedule. Many of them have a mug of ale before them as they wait for their meal of roasted boar. Those who arrived recently were able to follow their nose to the Ol Boar Inn.

You spend some time in the inn last night or this morning talking to the patrons and the barmaids. You find out some information.

Roll 1 Gather Information check to reveal to information below. A high check reveals all the information of a lower roll.

Gather Information DC 10:

The Old Road ran right past the nearby ruins, but fell into disuse because of goblin banditry. No one knows for sure what the Sunless Citadel once was, but old legends hint that it served as the retreat of an ancient dragon cult.

Gather Information DC12:

Cattle herders don’t graze there stock too far afield these days. They’re frightened by stories of new monsters that maraud by night. No one has seen these creatures, nor do they leave a discernible trail; however, cattle and people who have been caught out alone have been found dead the next day, pierced by dozens of needlelike claws.

Gather Information DC14:

The missing adventurers include a fighter, a wizard, a paladin of Pelor, and a ranger. Sir Bradford was not a local, and he had a magic sword called Shatterspike.

Gather Information DC16:

Sometimes the goblins offer another apple at midwinter. This apple is corpse-white and utterly poisonous, even to the mere touch of the skin. No samples of either type of apple remain anywhere near Oakhurst.

Gather Information DC18:

Garon, the barkeep of the Ol’ Boar Inn, remembers the last time anyone, aside from Talgen and Sharwyn, asked questions about the Sunless Citadel. About thirty years ago, a grim man named Belak stopped by, and he had a very large pet tree frog.

For the next check you can roll if you have the rank in one of the following Knowledge Checks

K-History, Geography or Local DC12:

The Old Road also skirts the Ashen Plain, a lifeless land. The desolation of this land is attributed to the ancient rampage of a dragon named Ashardalon.

What do you do? Take a moment describing your character and link a photo if you used one for inspiration.

Hey everyone! Welcome to the game and congrats. Not sure if any of you know each other but feel free to say hello!

Some tidbits of into about me. I started playing in 3.5 and the first game I played in hooked me. We were +10 & 2 odds for stats and gestalt when it came to class. 3 person party. Wizard/Druid, Monk/Rogue, Fighter/Paladin. We played from 1st level to 15 or 16... I don't exactly remember. We saved the world against a demon invasion. All of us had equipment that leveled up with us as we went. Remember how I said I was hooked? Well it also destroyed my expectations moving forward.

Nowadays I am married with 2 kids, I am an avid hockey fan, and serve as a director of student ministries.

I look forward to getting to know you all more as we go.

This started out as an interest check post and since I recently read through the module I figured why not run with it.

My idea would be to keep it to the PHB for everything (classes, races, equipment, feats, spells... you get the picture) due to the overwhelming volume of splat material that is out there.

Stats would be 2d6+6 keep them as they lay. Roll stats then pick class/race
Max starting Gold and HP, roll for HP every level after.
This would be for 4 PCs. Maybe 5... maybe

Background: This can be as simple or elaborate as you want them to be. Minimum 2 positive and 1 negative characteristics/traits.

Stat Roll Example:

Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14

Looks like a cleric or a druid.

This will be a quick turn around - Submission Deadline: Noon Saturday Central From there I will pick out the 4 PCs by Sunday afternoon and we will launch the game next Monday, March 7th

I am sure there are other DMs out there that would love to know what AP to run next. I figure I would create a Google Forms to get some answers. Which Pathfinder AP do YOU want to play next? Pick 2 options of the 24 available. I will share the info once a week for those who might want this info. Thanks!

Strange Aeons: In Search of Sanity
Part 1: Prison of the Mind

You find yourself in a market of a bustling city. It is a beautiful fall morning. Not too cold enough that you need your winter cloak, but cold enough that there is a crispness in the air. The aroma of freshly baked spiced breads and pies fill the market from a near by bakery.

You look around and have a feeling that you have been here and should know where this is, but you cannot remember. Almost as if the information is just just out of the grasp of your memory. You try to mentally trace back your steps to how you got here... nothing.

In almost a blink of an eye the season shifts. It's fall you think to yourself. No... it's just almost winter. What was I here for? Looking around you remember that you are in a market. It is a slow day in the market. Looking up you realize it is later in the day on this overcast day. You see many empty stalls that would typically hold the goods of merchants all over the region. The region! Where am I? you look around and you cannot ditch the feeling that you have been here before. Why can't I remember where I am? Come on T.... You hit another wall. What's my name? worry begins to trickle across your mind...

Closing your eyes, you begin to press your temples as you try to slow down and clear your mind. Something isn't right Reopening your eyes you notice a fog rolling in. You pull your winter cloak tighter across yourself as you can see your breath this winter evening. You smell freshly baked spiced breads and pies. That will warm me up You turn only to see the bakery closed and boarded up. Oh yeah. That closed back when... When... Damn it!

Spinning back around to the market; I just need to get what I came for and get out. What I came for. You brush you hand across your sweat beaded forehead. Looking you see the fog rolling in has a yellow hue to it. No one else seems to notice.

The fog continues to rope around the stalls and the merchant like vines covering a tree. The people don't notice what is happening. What is going on? You watch as the fog rolls up themarchant's body, around her throat tightening. She is still talking, trying to sell her goods. She coughs, and coughs again. The tendrils of fog roll into her mouth. In a coughing fit she grabs a scarf and covers her mouth. Pulling it away, it is covered in blood. As if nothing happened she folds up the scarf and places it back on her table.

As the market begins to fill with the fog and the tendrils continue to overtake those in the market you turn and head down the closest path. All around is a wall of sickly yellow fog, tumbling through the alley's canyon of crumbling, gray brick walls like some jaundiced flash flood. You find yourself in a wider section and seven other people come from adjacent roads. That's not right

Ahead, the unfamiliar alley splits, curving to the left and right. Looking back from where you came, the silent swell of mist, emanates the sound of footsteps - slow, but somehow keeping the pace with the careening, hungry wave.

What do you do?

Welcome!

I know, I know. 8 people clearly isn't 4-5 people... But then again what good survival horror story doesn't have a large cast that dwindles down over time. That being said, it would be interesting if you all survived. Each of you bring fun skills, abilities, and flavor to what is going to happen. I look forward to getting to know you and your characters as we run through this AP.

A few things I want you to look at before we process:
- Starting wealth is class average, and make sure you have spent every last copper.
- Favorite Class Option: You get all 3 per level. 1 HP, 1 Skill & Racial Bonus.
- Make sure you have every skill/trait/feat chosen. Once we begin, they are set in stone.
- Roll me a % please.

Also, I had come across a good format for characters stat bar but I cannot find it. Does anyone have a link to a good one we could all use?

Greetings fellow Pathfinders!

Fall is here, which means Halloween is just around the corner. What could be better than launching into a Lovecraftian horror survival game.

I am looking for 4-5 PC’s that are going to fully immerse their character into the style and theme of this game. To help yourself get into the mode of the game, be sure to read the Strange Aeons Player’s Guidie. This excerpt from the player’s guide is something that you need to keep in mind while creating a character.

Player's Guide wrote:
The only memories that remain are but vague hints and gut feelings—hardly clear recollections. A PC may recall only bits of an early childhood in a merchant family, while another might remember being born in Oppara, but nothing else.

I am not looking for a in-depth thorough background. What I am looking for is who your character is, personality characteristics that would bleed through into the character even though they don’t fully remember their history. Likes, dislikes, quirks, and phobias. And keep these in mind when selecting your campaign trait, other trait, and your drawback. Don’t pick these for the sole of min-maxing.

Copy a link to previous RP examples so I can get a feel of how you typically post.

My posting rate will be once a day through the week, and once on the weekend. That is what I would expect of you. In those post I ask is that each post gives others a place to go off of to move the story forward. Think “yes, and…” when it comes to improv. Also, this is text based so please be as descriptive as you can when making your post. Let’s paint each other a clear picture.

Also, familiarize yourselves with the Paizo Sanity Rule System. we will be using it throughout the game.

And now, the crunch.

Character Creation:

Stats: 15 Point Buy
Races: Core only, no alternate racial traits
Classes: Core & APG classes only (No Summoner)
Traits: 1 Strange Aeons campaign trait, 1 other trait, 1 drawback
Note on drawback: Use this drawback as something that is really a weakness for your character. This is a survival horror style game, your characters need weaknesses to help play into that theme.
Starting Wealth: Class Average – Spend it all, every last copper.
HP: Max HP at 1st level. Roll for HP 2nd lvl and beyond
Skills: we will not be using background skills.
Favored Class Benefit: Each level you will receive 1 HP, 1 Skill rank, and your racial favored class option.
Alignment: Any are allowed. If you go evil, keep in mind that you are in a survival horror game and being part of a group is better than being alone.
Character Image: Find an image that goes along with your character so we can see who you are. I will have visual aids for most of the characters and scenes you come across

Finally, this will be more NC-17 due to gore and violence. If you find yourself more sensitive to that, please maybe step back and do not submit an application.

Looking forward to seeing your submissions. The deadline for submissions will be Thursday, October 7th at 12 noon Central time.

If I have forgotten something or if I need to be clearer, please do not hesitate asking any questions. Thanks!

Hello fellow Pathfinders! Mr Clint here with a curiosity question.

I am currently running a homebrew game, my first one on the PBP, and it has been a lot of fun. I hope that my players would say the same.

I have a few APs from Pathfinder 1st edition and I am toying with the idea of possibly running one. Not confirmed, just toying with. I will need to pick one out, read through it and make notes, etc... etc... etc...

My question is for people who have or currently are DMing more than one game.

What tips do you have for running two (or more) games?

I am always looking to learn and help sharpen my skills as a DM, but especially as a PBP DM.
Thank you in advance, looking forward to our discussions.

Greetings fellow Pathfinders!

I am in the need of 2-3 adventurers to join a party that is just wrapping up a mission.
We seem to have lost a few due to casualty of the PBP ghost.

Here is a link to the Gameplay Thread

Here is a link to the Original Recruitment Thread

Character Creation:

- Level 2
- Core Races & Classes (totally cool with Pazio official archetypes as long as the racial ones don’t cost RPs) (Feats/Spells/Equipment/Talents/Etc from other books are allowed as long as it is Paizo official.)
- Here is the list of Deities that are available.
- Stats: 15 point buy – min/max all you’d like but play it
- Favored Class: Skill, HP, & Racial Bonus (yes all three)
- No Background Skills
- Traits: 2 Traits and 1 Drawback.
- Starting Gold: 1000 Gold
- Alignment: I say “Any’, but you have will have to work together. And, as in real life, if the friend group doesn’t like you… you might get left behind.
- Background: I don't need a short story, but give us an example of your posting style. (Yes I said "us" because the current party and myself will be vetting the applicants.)
- Gaming History: What is your background in PBP and in person gaming.
- Posting Rate: I will be checking in twice a day. I don’t expect you to post more than once a day. All I ask is that each post gives others a place to go off of to move the story forward. Think “yes, and…” when it comes to improv. Also, this is text based so please be as descriptive as you can when making your post. Let’s paint each other a clear picture.
- Maps/Theater-of-the-Mind: I’m about 50/50 on this. If a map is needed/requested I can and will provide one.
- Find an image that goes along with this character so we can see who you are. I will find an image for most NPCs you come across for visual aids.

This is a homebrew game set in the Duchy of Ashar and currently is based in Languard more specifically the Low City. In the Campaign info tab there is a brief description off each of these locations.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I will say that our deadline will be August 11th by 12 noon central.

Hey all! I am new to PBP DMing and started a game a short while ago. Had fun with recruitment by just opening up the gameplay and literally had players "walk into a bar" and start interacting with the bar. It was fun and seemed to be a different way for people to get into their characters skin before really starting.

I had 6 people who were really engaged and having fun with the bar scene. Had one of them say that the pace was too much for them and that he might not stick with it. That would have been okay because I would have had a party of 5, cue the music.

I sent them on a short mission mainly to get my feet wet in PBP DMing and all was going well. They found the stranded ship, started exploring it, plot points have been slowly revealed and they are catching them. I sent out a general feeler of how people were enjoying the game, even asking how I could improve the gameplay for them. Everyone was having fun.

Fast forward a bit and things have slowed down significantly. I only have 2 consistent players, a fringe player, and 3 that are just gone. My first attempt at reaching out to those who aren't consistent feel flat. I would possibly try to refill on new characters but the team isn't really in a spot where I can do a secondary recruitment.

Is this how it goes on the boards? What am I doing wrong, how can I improve? Anyone willing to give a look at my campaign and interactions and give me any kind of guidance? I really like the PBP format because I started a new job and have moved 2+ hours away from my in person play group.

Help?

You find yourself in the Orc’s Head Tavern. Found in the Low City of Languard You might be staying the night after your ship has come to port, drinking away the memory of your recent loss of fortune while playing “The Dragon and the Thief,” or perhaps working up the liquid induced courage to ask that guy or gal to dance since you walked in under the stone bust of the Orc’s Head.

One of the bar maids spotted you come down the stairs and pointed you to any table. She strolls up, sits on the edge of the table; “What will it be for you, hun? Wine or ale, and the meal is sausage, cheese and bread…”

Languard:

Languard is a busy, noisy place. The administrative and mercantile heart of the Duchy of Ashlar it is, however, also a place of fear and gradual decay.

Sprawling over a series of rocky bluffs, and heavily fortified, the town defends Hard Bay’s narrow mouth and the settlements beyond. Many adventurers, sell-swords and mercenaries come to Languard. The closest settlement of note to Gloamhold, and the duchy’s largest port, here are found the greatest opportunities for fame, gold and advancement. Here also (for the unlucky or careless) are found the greatest opportunities for infamy, poverty and death.

Ruler: Duke Armas Nenonen
Government: Overloard
Population: 7,923 (6,614 humans, 287 dwarves, 189 elves, 236 half-elves, 264 half-orcs, 189 halflings, 144 gnimes)
Notable Folk: Atro Ahokas (leader of the Worshipful Company of Freetraders), Elmo Rekunen (First Protector), Hannele Auvuenen (High Priestess of Conn), Heimo Karppanen (High Priest of Abarin), Marja Pasanen (Chancellor), Taneli Eronen (Serat’s Stormlord), Taneli Laitnen (Guildmaster of the Shadow Masks), Varma Nikkonen (Lady Protector [of Darlen]), Veli Nikkonen (Captain of the Watch)
Alignments: LN, N, NG
Languages: Common
Resources & Industry: Fishing, commerce, general industry

One Roll of Gather Info: Whatever the roll is, you read all the spoilers equal or less than that roll. (Please no “taking 10.”)

Languard Lore DC 10:

Capital of the Duchy of Ashlar, Languard is its largest and wealthiest settlement. It is also the nearest settlement of note to Gloamhold’s doom-shrouded halls.

Languard Lore DC 15:

Languard is the oldest human settlement in Ashlar, founded almost 500 years ago by the first duke. Castle Languard is the city’s oldest structure.

Languard Lore DC 20:

Caves and caverns honeycomb the rock beneath Castle Languard; some run all the way down into High City.

Low City:

Low City: The name given to the bulk of Languard sprawling to the south of the Svart, the Low City is home to most of the city’s populace. Also comprising the Shambles, Fishshambles and the Wrecks, the Low City is named both for its position below the High city and for the low-born status of most of the folk dwelling therein.

I think that’s it?

A Little of Me:

- I find myself in a season without a group. I have moved away from my play group and need a little gaming fun/interaction.
- I began playing in 3rd and played a Fighter/Paladin that, along with his Monk/Rogue & Druid/Wizard companions, helped saved the lands of Kalamar from demons, devils, and dragons. My character fell into a portal never to be seen again…
- Since then I have mostly played Pathfinder, but have dipped my toes into a season of D&D 4e and D&D 5e. I really enjoy the 3.x/Pathfinder system.
- Married, 2 kids, and a dog. So, I will mostly be posting in the mornings & evenings when everyone else is asleep.
- I am open to questions, feel free to ask away!

Once you have a character made up, jump on into the gameplay thread and let's see where this goes.

I am not running a time for submission, that will be our session zero RP time before things really kick off.

See you there!
