Point of order: the deva didn't cast a spell, it just cut at the roper and should be positioned up in its grill. ^^;

"Cowardly beast! Villain!" the deva rages as it chops at the roper with its full angelic might. "Surrender or die!"

The deva inclines its head, shrugs, then addresses the earth elemental in a deep, rumbling language:

"The mortals wish to thank you for your work against the worm-thing, mighty scion of the Elemental Plane of Earth. Your summoning served a goodly purpose this day, should that interest you, and the Green Wizard thinks he may call for your aid in battle again."

The earth elemental rumbles a reply:

Terran:
"Not care, squishies. Command, or release. Return. Deep Earth."

The angel coughs, slightly embarrassed, then paraphrases translates: "The gentlebeing from the Elemental Plane of Earth acknowledges your kind words, but asks that it be given further instructions, or else allowed to return to its home and its own concerns."

What'd you expect, the guy has an Int of 6. ^_^;

The deva alights near Bruendor, a serene smile on her face.
"As I promised," she said, "so it was. But I see you are in need of some further assistance..."

The deva lightly touches Bruendor's forehead, and a surge of wellness travels through him.

"Not quite enough yet, I see," the deva says as she eyes Bruendor, critical of her own work. Another light-fingered touch to the Dwarf's head, and…

"Fear not, friends! Help is coming!" the movanic deva trumpets as she takes flight and hurtles at the tentacle holding Bruendor.
Singing a paean to the powers of light and goodness, the angel hacks away at the offending monstrosity with all the power in her arms and body, seeking to break the grapple!

The movanic deva attacks the tentacle holding Brue, using Vital strike and Power attack. Flaming longsword 1d20 + 17 - 3 ⇒ (18) + 17 - 3 = 32 for 4d6 + 7 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6) + 7 + (4) + 6 = 35 damage.

The deva smiles -- and reaches out, placing one index finger on Bruendor's upper lip.

"Shh," is all she says before flying on, and she refuses to further discuss the subject.

The deva smiles at Bruendor. "That depends on where you are sent."

Evil creatures that succeed on a melee attack against characters warded by Holy aura (ie. ALL of us) must make a Fort. save DC 22 against Blindness. Did the harvesters make their saves?

If the Drow are still standing after all of that, the deva again unleashes celestial magic on the battlefield! Glorious light bathes the two Drow and Bruendor in its radiance…

Another Holy Smite, centered on O16. Will save DC 18 to halve 5d8 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 4, 6) = 16 holy damage. Fail to make the save and be blinded for one round!

Movanic deva uses Holy Smite, centered on N13, catching all the Drow currently engaging Lefrik and Bruendor. Will save DC 18 to halve 5d8 ⇒ (7, 5, 1, 5, 7) = 25 holy damage. Failure to save causes one round of blindness. The spell-like ability won't do any harm to Lefrik and Brue, since they're Good-aligned.

It may be useful to point out I can cast Holy Smite at will.
That ought to help cut down on some of the undead unpleasantness! :D

The movanic deva is in front. Where else would she be?

When she hears the Mage shout for everyone to duck, she does go to one knee to let the bead of explosive fire go over her -- but she hardly resigns to letting these mortals do all the fighting!

"In the name of Righteousness, BE YE GONE!"

The angel's magic erupts in the middle of the mummies, holy power ripping through bandages and dessicated flesh alike!

Holy smite for 6d8 ⇒ (8, 1, 2, 2, 4, 4) = 21 holy damage, Will DC 18 for half.

There are ... places, for lack of a better term, which simply are goodness manifest.
Places of power beyond the mortal veil.
In one of those places, the one mortals name Nirvana, but which surpasses that name, there is … an awareness.

Like the place it inhabits, the awareness is crystallized good.
Like the place it inhabits, its existence transcends mortal comprehension.
Its sensations, its thoughts, can only be paraphrased, not experienced -- not without a phase-shift.

To paraphrase, then.

There is an awareness which could be said to identify itself as one of many. The awareness could be said to identify its tribe as Movanic deva.
And it could be said to suddenly become aware of a voice.
The voice is small. It is limited. It is mortal.
By its nature, it is trying to draw the awareness into a more limited form.

This is only natural. It is understandable. It is … vaguely irritating, but the deva can forgive it. Mortals need to phase-shift before they can understand, after all, and many are doing their best in their own, limited way.

The awareness acknowledges the voice, considers it.
It is calling. There is an … irregularity to the form of it. That means it is the arcane form. In mortal terms, Planar binding.
Planar binding is deeply irritating. It is inappropriate. And yet.

Mortals can be difficult. Some are hideously malicious. But others can be saintly and kind. Some deserve help. Some do not. The problem is, the phase-shift exists between the deva's state of being and mortals'. It is … difficult to determine which kind a mortal is without actually answering the call.

To be personified Good means not turning down those who desperately need help.

With the equivalent of a sigh, the Movanic deva … answers the call.
A pattern of light appears around it; first a circle, then an orb, then a tunnel, which draws it through the phase-shift, into limitation and towards a destination.
Limitation cloaks it, bringing clarity and understanding of the mortal sphere even as it occludes greater awareness and glory.
Such is the lot of the summoned...

I see I missed the fact that my second attack is a potential crit threat! Attack roll to confirm 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 for an additional 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 = 10 damage.

"Abominations! Defilers of the natural order!" the Movanic Deva booms as she slashes her greatsword at the green mummy in an effort to break the flank on her before it can materialize. "FACE JUDGMENT UNENDING!"

The movanic deva makes a full attack, starting with the green mummy. Should it expire at any time during her attack, she shifts her remaining strike(s) to the teal mummy.
