He gazes up at the smoke pouring out above them. "What do you suppose this could be from? I feel like it bodes ill, whatever it is..." He eyes the statue with curiosity, but isn't willing to risk more light until Adolina reports that it's safe to do so.

I'm also ok restarting but would prefer to press on - I'm confident that spells expended, etc., are accurate. I'm less confident on tracking loot...I think generally whoever's been carrying something has been the one to write it down, including odd/unusual items (i.e. Marcy's got three other casters' spellbooks). But some stuff could have slipped through the cracks.

Again, not really a strong feeling re: starting here or going back to the entrance.

Before I dive into the questions, DocEvil, I have corrected everything you found on my profile! Thanks for checking my math. Only thing I think is correct that you had listed wrong are my spells per day - if you look you'll see I do have 6 1st-level prepped (one prepped twice), and I think I should have 4 5th-level because I get 2 base +1 INT + 1 school. (I can notate them differently somehow if that helps.)

What Marcellano knows...

1) As Cadas and Robin said, the Paradise was a boat that sank, probably a sacrifice of greedy people, probably done (this might be more of a "guess" than "knowledge") by Xanesha's sister. I don't remember if we confirmed the name or if I just suspect that based on lamias being tricksy.

2) The Sihedron is a rune that seems to link all the events they've been involved in.

Spoiler:
I don't remember whether Marcellano knows/suspects it's Thassilonian or if that's my own knowledge... Obviously, building this archaeologist/cyphermage, you've probably guessed that I the player have some sense.

3) I have to confess neither I nor, by extension, Marcy have any memory of why Shalelu was headed this way.

4) The three Black Arrows were the sole survivors of Fort Rannick - they bravely helped us take it back, though one of them died. To be completely honest, they never made a huge impression on me, at least...

RE: playing this summer, I'm cautiously open to it...my one caveat is that I am starting grad school at the end of the summer/fall, and I had sort of told myself no more new PBP games. I'm absolutely interested, but I don't want to commit to something I don't have time to do right and leave you in the lurch.

Sounds like everyone else is into the idea, though! :)

Dodging away backward, Marcellano draws one of the wands from his belt. Pointing it at the ogre who took a swing at him with a snarl, he unleashes a sickly green ray.

"Over here!" he calls, hoping to distract the thug and give his allies time to bring the others down. Turning on his heel, he vanishes and reappears 25' away.

"Get out of there, Robin!" Marcellano calls. Taking a quick step back from the ogres, he makes an arcane gesture and sketches a rune into the air. Another lightning bolt materializes!

Since they're staying lined up...what are the odds they'll make those saves twice? This should hit both ogres again.

Lightning Bolt: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3, 4, 5, 2, 6, 5, 6) = 36 DC 18 Reflex for half damage; I believe the blinded ogre takes a penalty.

Now it's my turn to apologize for my absence!! Catching up now.

Seeing an opportunity, Marcellano hustles in a wide arc around the confused brutes, staying well clear of the giant's reach. His hands dip into one of the scroll tubes on his belt and emerge holding a parchment covered in fine blue runes. Unrolling it, Marcellano reads a single syllable that echoes through the chamber, and a massive bolt of lightning springs from his hands and blasts both of the ogres!

Drawing a scroll as I move and then using a swift action to boost my CL 9 scroll of lightning bolt to CL 10. Firing the bolt due south, so it hits both ogres (and, incidentally, the statue behind them).

Lightning Bolt: 10d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 2, 3, 2, 5, 3, 5, 5) = 38 electricity damage. DC 18 Reflex save for half damage.

Marcellano frowns, seeing that though the fight isn't going badly it also doesn't seem to be going well. "Time for something more extreme," he mutters. He moves to be just outside the ogre's reach and recites some arcane words, bringing his extended fingers around in wide arcs until they're joined and pointed at the ogre. Two jets of fire leap from his fingertips!

I agree that I'd be happy to have a 5th person and keep Adolina (and Shadowlina!). More people in a PBP is honestly rarely a bad idea (up to a certain limit) as it also means more posts, which especially outside of combat can speed along play nicely.

Marcellano continues observing closely. So far Adolina's shadow has taken most of the worst of it, but now their attention seems to be falling on the corporeal members of the group as well. Moving out so he has a clear view of both ogres, he mutters a few arcane words and sends streaks of silver light flying toward the closest one.
