Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr considers.

I have heard of much that is bad in Freeport but also much that needs to be put right in Sigil. I will go where I will do the most good to my kind. It may be that my destiny doesn't lie in Freeport. I need to be where I can fight evil most effectively. What would you suggest I do?

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

If there are any ritual sellers in Skull City, Lisbarr would be very pleased to have directions to said supplier.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr begins his slow progress across the chamber...

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Rev Rosey's computer is still broken. She hopes it will be back in operation on Monday, and sends her apologies.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

"Right. Well then, I'll just put this on then shall I?"

"Er... Yes, let's gargoyle. At least we won't have to find the way out this time."

He eyes the rope that he knows he will have to climb to get out of here.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Apologies for being so remiss at posting. I've been in a different universe, but I'm back now.

Rev also asked me to say she is having computer problems so posting may be erratic for the next few days.

Lisbarr has picked up the cloak, but tentatively offers it to Anri.

"Er... if you think you will use it better than I will, then I'll try not to be jealous if you take it. But, if you don't really want it, then I don't mind keeping it."

Lisbarr doesn't really have any appropriate rituals that I can think of. He really needs to visit the ritual shop the first chance he gets. Maybe it will remember us and just not want to fight any more. Or we do what we did last time. keep it still while we all get out.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr has been looking on in disbelief.

"Well I wasn't expecting that!". He moves towards the newly infused sword.

"Well, er, Akemi. I hope you are happy in there. Er... glad for your help and all that."

Lisbarr scoops up the residuum and the scrolls, which he looks at with interest. He gestures to the rest of the loot. So... what about all this?

(Lisbarr is looking covetously at the cloak).

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr gives the blade one of his piercingest gazes

Arcana, religion 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24

Piercing is all very well, but probably not Lisbarr's style when it comes down to it.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Before he gratefully takes a rest, Lisbarr warns everyone that Ruinblade sounds like a bad idea.

"That sword doesn't have anything like a sense of humour. I don't want to touch it."

Will level up as soon as I get the chance tonight

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Ouch! Unhurt to bloodied in one hit...

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word
Rev DM wrote:

Moghadam clearly does not appreciate Akemi's attentions and whimpers slightly. Ruinblade makes a disapproving noise.

"Stop that pathetic mewling. Revenge is only for the worthy."

Lisbarr fixes the sword with a disparaging gaze. "No wonder you don't have any friends if you are always moaning. I don't think I want to help you. Sorry and all that."

Then he moves closer to the wraith to try to deal further damage.

Move to 8G.
Syllable of Light vs M vs Will (close burst 2)
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
On hit: 1d8 + 13 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 10 + (1) = 30 Radiant damage and Moggy is blinded and deafened of end of Lisbarr's next turn.
Even if it misses: All allies in the burst (LH, R, Ak, N) get a +2 bonus to all defences to end of Lisbarr's next turn.

Lisbarr does not look too pleased with himself...

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr decides to (try once more to) make his mark on the occasion. He gives the wraith a stern look and tells him just what he thinks of his antics.

"It is really very rude indeed to ask people to die for your own petty schemes. You should be ashamed of yourself."

Rebuke undead vs M vs Will
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
If that hits, deals 4d10 + 13 + 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 5, 8, 5) + 13 + (3) + 10 = 49 Radiant damage (includes vulnerability and extra 1d6 damage) and Moghadam is pushed two squares (as shown on map). He is also dazed to the end of Lisbarr's next turn.
(I hope I have moved everything correctly...)

"See?"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Dabbleboard is unavailable at the moment to I'll move Lisbarr when it is back

Lisbarr carefully takes a few steps nearer to Moghadam (he stop fve squares away) then gives him a stern look.

"Are you sure you want us all to join you? That could be a bad thing."

Deadly Doubt vs M vs Will
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Well that won't hit...

Lisbarr is starting to have some difficulty in keeping up the appearance of a nonchalant and competent combatant.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word
AnriTheWanderer wrote:

"Lisbarr, what are you talking about?"

** spoiler omitted **

"what...?"

Lisbarr looks a little embarrassed.

"Er, yes.. Can't you hear it?... Oh."

"Well, um... I think it is the sword. It's being very uncomplimentary."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

"It's no good coming over all tetchy! We're doing just fine if you don't mind. Besides, if you are so concerned you might try helping a little!"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr can't get quite near enough to be cross with Moggy so he tries to spike his lighting from where he is.

Stand up.
Lightning Spike vs M vs Fort
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
On hit: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 lightning damage and M is dazed TEOMNT.

On the other hand...

Lisbarr gives Moghadam's sword a stern look. "Well...?"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

"What...?"

Lisbarr looks a little unsure as if he heard something. Then looks around.

"Ah."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Gingerly, Lisbarr take hold of the rope and starts down.

Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Hanging on for dear life, he attempts the last few feet.

Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

He falls the remainder of the way in an undignified plop, flailing madly as he does so, trying to land with some degree of elegance.

But fails.

Falls prone in I13 takes 1d10 ⇒ 1 damage (I think it is only 10 feet of fall).

"I meant to do that."

Akemi-Temp wrote:
Lisbarr, technically you can move into my square, since I'm on the rope beneath it, if that helps

Thanks Akemi, if that's OK with Rev, I'll move Lisbarr there, ready to fall off the rope on his next turn

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Sighing inwardly at the prospect of yet another rope to fall off, Lisbarr moves as close as he can to the action (which isn't very close...)

Move to I15, and jumping up and down a bit to get a better look

"What's happening? I can't see!"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr suddenly starts as if he hears something.

"There is someone, or something asking us to help him/it. Can anyone else hear it? He is saying that we should retrieve him from his failure and help fulfil its purpose."

"I don't like the sound of that."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

At the bottom, Lisbarr takes a look around.

"So, where are we?"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

I think Lisbarr needs to make another roll since he failed one

Lisbarr looks appreciatevely towards Akemi and tries to get to the bottom in one piece.

Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr never liked climbing either up or down. He promises himself that, when he gets back to some sort of urban society, we will start working out a bit more.

4 x Athletics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Lisbarr tries to make out what there is at the bottom before he arrives there.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Suddenly Lisbarr jumps as he hears a voice requesting them to come down and rescue it/her/him.

"I heard a voice... down there..."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr considers the petrified Gargoyle and the rapidly emptying room and decides to exit the room himself.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Aware that he cannot aid Lyan enough to help him move the plinth, Lisbarr tries to lay the seed for success next turn.

Strength to try to move the plinth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

OK... that was unexpected.

Lisbarr grimaces in a way that only he can and strives to open the way out.

"Just... a... little... bit... more..."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

It's not marked, but the south side of surface 1 is adjacent to the north side of surface 6 isn't it? Which means that most people are quite close now.

isbarr attempts to slow the Gargolye down a bit
Lisbarr sees if he can help tell people how to open the plinth in a less strengthy way.

Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

"Well, I think if you give it a sort of lateral twist when you move it, ti will come free slightly more easily."

Lisbarr then tries to sloe the gargoyle down a bit to avoid it's horrible attack.

Action point:
Grasping shards vs G vs Fort.
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30 (Still at -2, so might hit...)
On hit: 7 radiant damage and it is slowed to the end of Lisbarr's next turn

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

According to my 3D visualisation of the cosmic all, I think that everywhere is within 5 squares of Lisbarr except surfaces 2 and 4, the rightmost column of surfaces 1,5 and 6, the two rightmost columns of surface 3 and the top two rows of surface 1. Which is my way of saying that Lisbarr can shoot the gargoyle with his Astral Seal once more.

LIsbarr, once again tries to keep the gargoyle softens up for his companions, while anxiously askeing them to hurry up and help with the plinth.

"We need a bit of help here to move the plinth can you stop playing and help us get out?"

Astral Seal vs G vs Ref
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38
On Hit: No damage but the gargolye takes -2 to all defences to the end of Lisbarr's next turn and the next person to hit it regains 2 hit points.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr wishes he had paid more attention in his Primordial classes but realises that it is too late now for regrets. Instead, he tries to significantly hamper the gargoyle.

Vile plague vs G vs Fort.
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
On hit: The Gargoyle suffers from Vile Plague (save ends). While suffering it is slowed and dazed and takes 10 ongoing necrotic and poison damage. Additionally, while it is suffering from the plague, all creatures next to the gargoyle at the end of their turn take 5 necrotic damage.
On miss: Gargoyle takes 10 necrotic and poison damage, and it is slowed until the end of its next turn.

"Er... I wouldn't hang around to close to it if I were you..."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

So... Has Lisbarr actually seen the way out?

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr tries, unsuccessfully, to not hear what Anri has just said and decides to investigate some more plinths.

Minor action: Gaze in disbelief at Anri while trying not to think too hard about carrying out such a suggestion.
Double move: (carefully) to Ee20

"I think I'll just take a look at this plinth over here..."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Gargoyle no longer has -2 penalty yo defences and is also dazed because Akemi hit it

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr goes to take a look at the nearest plinth. Very carefully he moves next to it and takes a look. He also tries the keep the Gargoyle's defences down.

Move to GG16
Deadly doubt va G vs Will
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
On Hit: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (2, 5) + 11 = 18 psychic damage and if it is hit again before the end of Lisbarr's next turn, it is dazed until the end of its next turn.
Additionally, the next attack against the gargolye gets a +4 power bonus to the attack roll.
(It no longer has the -2 penalty to all defences)

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr fires off his light again in an attempt to weaken the gargoyle once more.

Astral seal vs will
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
On hit: no damage but gargoyle takes -2 penalty to all defences to the end of Lisbarr's next turn

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr points at the plinths in different part of the room and suggests that they may hide an exit.

"They might hide the way out." He says.

He also readies another Astral Seal which seems like the best contribution he can make at the moment.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr notes with some small discomfort that the Gargoyle is between him and the way out. He takes a good look around to see if there is anything in this room that may be of interest,

Perception roll 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Not being equipped to do much harm to a virtually invincible Gargoyle, Lisbarr contrents himself with softening it up some more.

Astral seal vs Gargoyle vs Ref.
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
On Hit: No damage, but the Gargolye takes a -2 penalty to all defences to the end of Lisbarr's next turn. And the next person to hit the Gargoyle regains 2HP

"Can anyone think of a way to stop it turning into stone for a bit? Can it move at all at the moment?"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr tries once more to do something meaningful. With a sideling glance at Anri, he bathes the gargoyle in some very bright light.

Astral Seal vs G vs Ref.
1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35
On Hit: No damage, but the Gargolye takes a -2 penalty to all defences to the end of Lisbarr's next turn. And the next person to hit the Gargoyle regains 2HP.

Lisbarr looks intently at the Gargoyle to see if has had managed to have any effect.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr backs off a bit (one square - to Ii14) and then tries once more to daze the gargoyle.

Sylable of Light vs G vs Will. (Colse burst 2)
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
On hit: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 radiant damage and the gargolye is blinded and deafened to the untils the end of Lisbarr's next turn.
Regardless of whether this hits or misses: all allies in busrt (Akemi and Anri) get a +2 bonus to all defences and resist 5 radiant to the end of Lisbarr's next turn

"Well... OK"

Lisbarr is still feeling a bit odd about having been carried around.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr focusses on the gargoloye and sends a flash of lightning-like energy its way.

Lightning spike vs G vs Fort
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
On hit: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 radiant damage and the gargoyle is dazed to the end of Lisbarr's next turn.

"Ha ha!.. A hahah!"

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Lisbarr is rather bouyed up by Anri's floatation and can't wait to get into the fight

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr flinches as Anri approaches him with the promise of an uplifting experience. But finally shrugs and allows her to float him into the room with her.

He fidgets a lot but does not actually try to break free.

"... th'nkyou ... Er... I'm Lisbarr by the way."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr perks up at the mention of Sigil. "I hear there are evil people there! I hope you weren't planning to meet up with any of them! Anyway your story is far from complete. I will be watching until you have proved yourself"

"Come on, let's see if we can move this..."

He stoops to help move the rubble.

Strength: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Er.. I can't actually see Lisbarr on the map. (But I have added him now)

Lisbarr moves to attack the false Rothel, hoping to give others a better chance to Do Their Stuff. He hopes his skill has finally returned.

Move to I12;
Astral Seal vs FR vs Ref
1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
On Hit: FR is at -2 to all defences to the end of Lisbarr's next turn. And the next person to hit FR regains 2 HP.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr looks more impressed than he thought he would when Anri attacks the correct person.

"I take it you are on our side then. Good technique."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

"Oh! Right then..."

With an acknowledgement to Akemi Lisbarr turns on the False Lyan. "So there!"

in addition to the damage, if the false Lyan does any damage to anyone before the end of Lisbarr's next turn, the false Rahz-Ack takes 9 radiant damage as an immediate effect.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr is actually at L11

Lisbarr has decided that he doesn't like people who aren't who they should be at all. He starts whining in an angry sort of way and jumps up and down (As a free action).

He fixes the false Lyan with a hateful gaze and tells him: "You shall be soooo sorry for this."

Penance Compelled vs False Lyan vs Will.
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
2d6 + 14 ⇒ (5, 4) + 14 = 23 radiant damage.
... Never mind...

Lisbarr feels he has been more of an observer that a combatant in this fight. He looks guiltily at the others and tries to pretend that he meant to miss.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr gives Anri a suspicious glare. "Well if you were trying to demonstrate that you were on our side, there were better ways. Although given the tendency of everyone here to attack the wrong people I will give you a chance and see what you do next..."

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr looks on with dismay at the number of false allies. He hopes he can attack the right ones.

Move to L11;
Lightning spike centred on Akemi, area burst 1, attacks all enemies in burst. Versus Fort.
vs False Rahz-Ahk 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
vs False Rothel 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
vs False Lyan 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
on a hit (haha) 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16 lightning damage and target is dazed to the end of Lisbarr's next turn.

Lisbarr feels he has had more productive days.
