The Tomb of Horrors Part 1 (4e) - Group 1

Game Master Rev Rosey

The monster that is Tomb of Horrors.
Two groups are going through this.
For some reason I set up a second game thread for Group 2, but not for Group 1.

Anri?

Female Human Monk/Master of the Four Winds 17

Apologies everybody, I was in the land of no-internet for a day or so because of connection issues. Back in action!

Rothel's Awesome Powers have made Anri's HP rise to 83! Not bloodied anymore.

2d10 ⇒ (9, 6) = 15

Ow. Pain. Down to 68. Still not bloodied anymore.

Save vs. Daze: 1d20 ⇒ 7

No dice. Still dazed.

Anri lurches a bit, but still manages to strike at Moggy at a distance, the range of her acrobatic strikes turned incredibly long with her deadly Steel Wind technique!

Steel Wind: (Dex vs. Reflex) (Close Blast 2) (Enemies Only)
1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 20 + 2 = 28

Call it a guess that this attack is a miss.

Anri Vitals:
HP: 83/100 +6 Temp, AC: 34, Fort: 25, Ref: 30, Will: 31

Anri leaps and bounces off the wraith's self-pity and delusion.

Welcome back :)

Male Deva Shaman 17, Scion of Renewal

So tough to decide, act and stay dazed, or move away and do nothing.

Psychic aura damage 2d10 ⇒ (2, 8) = 10, ooh I didn't think about this, if I take no damage from his aura, am I still dazed or are the two effects separate?

They're both part of the same thing, but unless I'm counting wrong, Rothel isn't in the aura.

Male Deva Shaman 17, Scion of Renewal

It's an Aura 2, it is on the map looking as a 1. Also, doesn't he have a darkness zone 5, when does it end, start of next, end of next, EoE? Rothel's light ability will end at the end of this turn of mine.

Regardless, I keep forgetting that I was imagining the whole damage negated/effect negated thing. I don't know where I got the idea, but I can never seem to find it any more, so I'm thinking I misread something and keep clinging to it.

Rothel moves back and away from the enemy, to a space just behind Norrin, hoping to stay away from the threat while staying close enough to all to lend aid if he can. Sadly, as soon as he arrives, his spiritual light dies out.

Move to G12 ?? I can't see the numbers on the map for some reason.

Rothel gets himself out of harms way and prepares to bolster his friends.

Think the map should be clearer now. Re Mogg's darkness, it's a power he can activate as a minor. He didn't do it last turn - no point with Rothel pointing the spiritual equivalent of a spotlight at him.

Male Half-Elf Invoker/17 Speaker of the Word

Lisbarr decides to (try once more to) make his mark on the occasion. He gives the wraith a stern look and tells him just what he thinks of his antics.

"It is really very rude indeed to ask people to die for your own petty schemes. You should be ashamed of yourself."

Rebuke undead vs M vs Will

If that hits, deals 4d10 + 13 + 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 5, 8, 5) + 13 + (3) + 10 = 49 Radiant damage (includes vulnerability and extra 1d6 damage) and Moghadam is pushed two squares (as shown on map). He is also dazed to the end of Lisbarr's next turn.
(I hope I have moved everything correctly...)

"See?"

Lisbarr's tone pierces even Moghadam's mountainous depression and the wraith reels backwards.

"But death is such a small price to pay for immortality," he pleads.

+5 damage to bloodied foes while adjacent to Rahz-Ahk

With the overflow of energies, he sends it as a wave at Moghadam, but it doesn't quite make it. It still gives enough to Lyan to allow him to try and shake off the negative effect hanging over him.

Yeah, with the Lost City and here, its well on its way to being established

Female Human Monk/Master of the Four Winds 17

All of the damage and HP healed evens out to a current total of 84...and I finally don't have to keep track of that Temp HP anymore! But she only has one healing surge left.

With Moghadam stuck between Akemi and Anri, it seems like time to kick things up a notch, Anri reasons.

She says, "You know, I always save this one for special occasions."

And she darts forward, her fingers striking out like snakes at Moghadam's forehead.

Twilight Touch: (Dex vs. Reflex) (If success, target is blinded until the end of Anri's next turn. If failure, he still takes half damage.) (Do I NEED to blind him when he's already blinded? Yes. Because I want it to last just a little bit longer...until after Anri's next turn anyway.)

1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 20 + 2 = 39
It's about time!

Anri's fingers strike true, disrupting the flow of Moggy's energy, blinding him for longer than before!

3d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) + 10 = 22

And here's the additional radiant damage + 10 from his Radiant Vulnerability.

1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Centered Flurry of blows automatically hits as well, adding +7 damage to her total. She slides Moggy up against the wall. That's 42 total: life, the universe, and everything baby!

Anri breathes out softly at the end of this, her feet shifting slightly.

"I am at peace, Moggy. And my peace is your end."

Stance of the Still Sword: (Minor Action) Until the stance ends, enemies take a -2 penalty to attack rolls against Anri.

And now, Anri's saves and her ongoing damage.

-20 HP!
1d20 ⇒ 14
Ongoing damage ends.

1d20 ⇒ 1
Well, the vulnerability's going to stick around a little longer.

Seeing as Anri has nowhere to move right now, I guess she's not going to use her move action.

Anri Vitals:
HP: 64/100, Healing Surges: 1/8, AC: 34, 36 vs. Moghadam, (All Enemies take a further -2 penalty to attacks against Anri until stance ends), Fort: 25, Ref: 30, Will: 31

Male Deva Shaman 17, Scion of Renewal

Rothel takes a step back, away from Moghadam, as Rahz-Ahk moves to the space just above Lyan. "I regret to inform, that the limitations on my healing capabilites has reached a distinct state of decline from this point forward. We are best served by the intent of removing the threat as it stands with as much haste as we can muster." Rahz-Ahk feeds some of his rage into Akemi, ready to redirect the flow to Norrin if the former reacts well to his offering.

Rothel is unable to shake the effect placed on him, secure in the fact that his own protections against mental attacks will help him soak some of the damage.

I can't mod the map at work, or for some reason see the row of numbers.
Move, RA to 5' above Lyan, Rothel back 1 sq.
Standard, Sly Fox Spirit, Akemi gets a basic attack as a Free action. If it hits Norrin gets a basic attack as a free action, and don't forget the bonus damage for being adjacent to Rahz-Ahk.
Save vs. Vuln 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

MBA vs Moghadam
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 34
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (13) + 23 = 36

for 1d12 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 15 + (3) = 28 radiant damage

If both of those hit, add 8 more damage due to my stance

Moghadam screams once as Akemi's blow lands and then starts to disipate in a rapidly whirling black mist. Spiralling outwards and upwards, the ancient wraith seems to evaporate into the very fabric of the tomb he so lovingly constructed for his traitrous master.

OUT OF COMBAT

The avenger sags softly onto her knees, a silent prayer on her lips of thanks for the strength to soldier on.

M Hobgoblin Battlemind/Quicksilver Demon 17 (Foe Killer)

So whomever is next possessed by the Ruinblade will be level 17?

Also, do you want us to roll out the saves and accruing damage? Glad to, but I'm advocating hard for an extended rest after this fight -- this is the same day as the duplicating trap, and something else in between, I believe.

The gargoyle incident, Lyan.
