For some reason I set up a second game thread for Group 2, but not for Group 1.

Anri blushes a little, sheathing her dagger.

"So! I'm Anri, renowned wanderer...and sorry about my introduction. Didn't mean to get mind controlled into stabbing people...I like to be VERY precise in my stabbings. Which is not to say I ENJOY hurting people. But some people need stabbing, unfortunately. Um, I'm on your side? I think I am anyway. Whose side are you? And where am I?"

She takes a moment to appraise her clothes. Nothing out of the ordinary so far.

Rothel firstly addresses the whole, "I would most definitely feel increased personal comfort at knowing the success at which you eradicated the alternate version of my current incarnation was not indicative of any negative emotional connection that is possibly harbored towards me." He looks pointedly at Norrin as he finishes, having witnessed how well he struck the killing blow.

Turning to respond to the newcomer, he takes on his usual preachy voice "Well Anri, I would be inclined to state as a fact that those that do get mind-controlled, did so purely unintentionally, insomuch that the actions they perform tend to follow a manner of behavior typically considered anathema to their natural inclinations. Otherwise, it would not have been necessary for them to have been compelled to act in the manner witnessed when they were under a compulsion." taking an almost friendly tone, "For the physical embodiment I possess currently I am known as Rothel, and this," he points at his Spirit Companion "is a shard of the spiritual remains left behind from the existence I held prior to now, and directed against its previous nature to do my bidding in righting the evil it had performed. He is Rahz-Ahk." The spirit roughly resembles a Rakshasa, but there is some minor facial features that are shared between them.

"It is a pleasure to meet you. It has been some time since I've met a Deva. I kind of want to pet the cute little embodiment of your dark past."

Anri grins brightly, shrugging.


The introductions continue under the lowering face of the now-disabled Devourer.

I'm sure you're short resting :) - those of you that need to anyway.

Rothel appears a little confused and disgusted by Anri's implication that the manifestation of his past sins could be consider either 'cute' or something to 'pet'. At the thought, he nonchalantly dismisses Rahz-Ahk for the moment, who seems to delight in how uncomfortable Rothel was.


Akemi spends one surge, any bonuses to top her off out there?

Akemi takes several deep breaths, sheathing her blade. It was an interesting fight against those pale imitation of her teammates. 'What' she wonders, 'would the dark reflection of me, have said?' She shakes her head, trying not to ponder it too deeply.

"How did you get here?"

Anri turns from Rothel to Lyan.

"Well, I was drinking with a bunch of sailors who were talking about getting a way to Sigil...and then I woke up and realized I was hitting your friends. What's your name, by the way?"


Anri's confusion is palpable as she looks around, trying to work out where she is and who these people may be.

Rev, what's the room situation? It's been awhile :)


The only exits are the way you came in or via the Devourer face in the wall. Now disabled, it looks moveable, if heavy.

As far as Lyan can see, there is nothing bar a few tonnes of stonework between the party and whatever lies ahead. He also judges that it will be possible to shove aside with enough help.

Strength checks: DC28, up to four aids.

Lisbarr perks up at the mention of Sigil. "I hear there are evil people there! I hope you weren't planning to meet up with any of them! Anyway your story is far from complete. I will be watching until you have proved yourself"

"Come on, let's see if we can move this..."

He stoops to help move the rubble.

Strength: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27


Who'd expect that Lisbarr and Akemi open the door by themselves?


Unlikely as it might seem, Akemi and Lisbarr display some hiterto unsuspected muscle power. The face creaks aside revealing a short flight of stairs going downwards.

The granite stairs end in a length of corridor and beyond that a single, gated chamber. A two foot plinth sits firmly in the middle of each surface, the one on the floor adorned with a two headed gargoyle. The stony creature simply sits there. Oddly, you notice that dust and debris covers all the surfaces of the room. You can see no exit of any kind.

Note that this map is a pain in the neck. What you have in front of you are all the surfaces, which as you will see are about to become important. Think of it as a folded out box.

Rothel has suspicions that the chamber, and it's equal faces, bear qualities of planar travel that invole the aspects of mutable gravity. He eyeballs it cautiously to see if he can finds signs that verify his claims.

Rothel and Akemi have no difficulty piecing together the way the room works. They still see no sign of a way out.

Moving more than 2 squares by any means other than flying requires a DC20 Acro or Athletics check as part of the move action. Failure sends you to random surface where you take 4d10 damage and land prone.
Moving from one surface to an adjacent square on another surface also requires a DC20 Acro/Ath check.
The map is a treated as a folded out box - arrows indicate adjacent surfaces.

Anri's current mystery setup lets her fly whenever she shifts, and adds two squares to her shifts, and Five Storms lets her shift two squares anyway...so she shifts to HH13. No rolls required due to flight. At least, that's what will happen if the offer she now makes is declined

Anri sighs.

"And of course, the Half-Elf who hasn't even given me his name is going to keep an eye on me. I'm cute, I understand it. Wait, no, it's obviously because I'm some kind of twisted and nefarious person. Well, watch me be nefarious, floating around with evil intent. OR, handsome, would you prefer I come back there and fly you around? You don't strike me as the type to be able to dance through this mess."

And if he doesn't decline, the same thing as stated in the beginning happens, but now she's going to start ferrying people around.

As Akemi enters the chamber, the gargoyle's wings start to unfold. In the doorway, Anri outlines her plan to help with the transport issues.

I'll hold for Lisbarr to chime in. This is quite a tricky one to run.

"Don't worry about it, Rothel. If it makes you feel any better I was actually aiming for the evil you's knee."

Using rubble surrounding the Devourer, Norrin goes to build a burial cairn for his fallen counterpart in the hope of preventing the evil him from returning to hound him as a reoccurring villain. He then goes to rejoin rest of the team.

"This might be another opportunity for flying hook to shine," he says, while unpacking the team's magic grappling hook, "Don't leave one's precariously situated home without it."

Lisbarr flinches as Anri approaches him with the promise of an uplifting experience. But finally shrugs and allows her to float him into the room with her.

He fidgets a lot but does not actually try to break free.

"... th'nkyou ... Er... I'm Lisbarr by the way."

Anri floats Lisbarr along, amused by his behavior.

"Pleasure to meet you. Lets try not to die."


More cautious than one might imagine, Norrin makes sure his evil self is firmly under the rocks before moving on.

A notion which tickles me immensely, along with Rothel's wurbling attempts to justify himself.

Agreed that Dabbleboard is a bit tiny. I'll keep looking. PicMonkey looks possible.

Under the stony eye of the double-armed gargoyle, Anri floats her half-elf passenger into the room. The action is enough to activate the gargoyle. Wing spread wide as it prepares to attack.

Init please :) I don't have Anri's bonus to hand or I'd follow normal custom in this game and do it for you.

sadly, she spends too much time mocking her opponent, instead of deciding how to FIGHT him. Can her ridiculous initiative compensate for deadly dice?

I've been working on a PBP mapping system, which I've dubbed Elliendo–Zanorin projection.

This method utilises the sharing of a Presentation* on Google Documents with text and graphical tokens on a fixed background image for a battlemap.

*As opposed to using a Drawing, which doesn't allow graphical backgrounds. While adding the background as a separate object was possible, 1d20 + 60 ⇒ (8) + 60 = 68% of the test subjects were found to accidentally move the background graphic around while trying to select a token.

Feel free to play around with the tokens here. Only test subjects with this link are allowed edit the page, and it is possible to publish a link for viewing only.

"Ha ha!.. A hahah!"


I was supposed to be in Hh13, but since we got all discombobulated, I figured HH12 is fine.

Akemi whispers an oath under her breath, nimbly charging the gargoyle, intent on rapid elimination.

Both Lisbarr and Akemi are disconcerted by the gargoyle's stony form. Neither attack hits.

Lyan may or may not be able to check in, but I'll give it a few hours before GMPCing him.

Rothel moves up to the opening, just behind Norrin, and is thankful that he does not need to enter in order to use Rahz-Ahk's abilities to the fullest. Summoning his spirit across from Lyan, to help in keeping the thing in place, the spirit strikes at the prone thing, and tries to leave an opening for the newcomer to prove themselves.
