Andreas watches and listens for a bit more as he begins to understand the man's motives.
the people. He is here to create problems and incite the people against us.

Andreas, standing at the back of the crowd, moves gently through the gathered people to stand in front of the man. His tall frame firm and unyielding. He looks the man in the eyes and nods his head up and down, all the while never breaking eye contact.
Nice speech.
His voice is soft and yet loud enough for those around to hear him.

Andreas then looks the man from his eyes all the way down to his boots and back up to his eyes again.
You talk about us but not to us.
He turns to look at the gathered crowd. His arm motions to the people around them.
You attack the credibility of these good people. You belittle their intelligence and their dedication that they have for their families.

His movement comes full circle to the unknown man.
Your questions...are interesting...and I take them personally.

He turns to the crowd again
He has a point. What do you really know about us? Do you know if we know how to use a hammer? If we even know how to gather water from a stream? Do you know if we can even plant a crop or mend a pair of pants? Do you know if we know how to rock a babe to sleep while singing a soft tune? Well, that one is a bad example. I cannot sing very well. Can we even grind up wheat to make flour that will be used to make our breads? Do we even know how to fish the waters around us?

He returns his gaze to the eyes of the man that would attack his people.
Do you even know their names. The names of the people you attack right now in an attempt to create chaos and destroy our way of life. Do you know the names of the farmers who till the lands and put food on our tables. Do you know the names of the fisherman who brave our waters to fill our stocks and feed our families. Do you know the names of the people you degrade in an attempt to get to us. They have done nothing but build a better life for their families and help their neighbors. You should stand up against us because the people of Insert name here are way out of your league.

He again turns to the crowd.
That there is Insert Name Here. and he and his wife Insert Name Here. own the farm out by the grove of maples upriver. They grow corn and wheat. Their daughterInsert Name Here. just turned seven and does not enjoy her chores around the farm. She however has a beautiful voice and has dreams to travel the lands.

Over there is Insert Name Here. and his wife Insert Name Here. . They have the honor of being the parents to Insert Name Here. who is the first child born in our lands.
He continues to call out to the citizens and what they do for the land.

As for the dangers of these lands. The lands were infested with monsters, bandits and other fell creatures that were intent on killing anyone that crossed their path.
He pauses a moment as his gaze wonders to distant times.
They....were.

Your words are sweet as honey and hold just enough tartness to cause a reaction. Like they were scripted for a specific response. Leaving out certain details while concentrating on others.

Andreas stops and looks at the man again. He draws forth his weapon, walking towards the man, he presents it to him.
You wish to rule. You wish to remain awake at night wondering if your decisions were correct. You wish to have the responsibility of all these lives in your hands. To defend with your life...each ...and... every... person... here.
His words slow down here as he lets each one of them sink in.
Can you give your life for another without pause.
He drops the sword at the man's feet.
I doubt you have the balls to do such.

He looks to the man's hands and points to them.

Andreas steps back from the man, leaving his weapon on the ground and turns his back on him.
Every voice is heard and accepted. No matter if it be acceptance or disdain. However,
I am using a certain speech that I have always enjoyed. I adjusted it slightly.

Andreas stops his mount and listen to Rillka rip into Corax. He does not turn to watch, he just waits.
As she finishes and rides up next to him, he nods at her with an approving smile. He lets her pass him and he turns his horse around to look down at Corax. His vision blurring out everything else but the logger. His voice is filled with anger.
You do not like Fey...she did nothing to you other than defend her home. You have the gull to stand there and talk s~~# about her after I saved your ass from certain death. I took up your debt to saves the lives of your men. I gave you the location of a lucrative grove of coachwood. I gave my word to repair the damage that you caused, and you want me to go back on it. You want me to dishonor myself for what...because you cannot get past your oversized sense of worth and your dislike of Fey. Even when it would have cost you the lives of your men you still pushed forward with your unfounded assumptions of her. I should string you up from the trees right now. F%~& it I am. I am hanging your sorry ass right here and now!
His vision clears up and he again sees the whole picture before him.
Andreas snaps out of his inner thoughts and looks down at the logger. His voice remains calm and neutral
Andreas never says the above words, these are just the thoughts that he wants to say out loud but does not...lol

You do not like Fey and I understand that. This is their home as well, and they are here to stay. We are the uninvited guests here. We will show respect and be nice neighbors. You will show them respect even when they do not return it. If you have problems with any Fey you will come to us, and we will deal with it. I want all of us to live together and coexist. You will find that we have made friends with a wide range of people in the Stolen lands. It does no one any good to be fighting everyone you do not like. Just leave them alone and move on. Now I wish you the safest of travels to that new grove. Be careful and I look forward to seeing you at the city.

He turns and continues to ride. When he catches up to Rillka....

Diplomacy to keep all on a lasting relationship.

No, the phrase "you are to never return to this region" was directed towards the loggers. They can log in other parts.

I was trying to get them to both understand that that are both right and both wrong at the same time. If this makes sense.

Melianse did you use magic against men that were following orders and plan to hold them as hostages till you receive your ransom. That answer is yes.

He lets his words sink into each group as he looks back and forth between them. Hoping that his words show them hope ridiculous the situation is. The way I see it, you have two options here.

I am Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm, you may or may not have heard of me or those that fight beside me. We defeated the Stag Lord and have created something better in his place. The dragon throne has granted us the right to administer justice to the region against all forms of banditry. This does include theft, and it also includes ransom. Do I have the right to enforce my justice on you...maybe, maybe not. I do however have the right to protect my people. If they cannot travel the lands without being forced to replace every tree that they piss on...or being threatened with death over lumber rights. I will protect my people.

Option one is the two of you fight it out and do harm to each other. Most likely the trees do not get replanted, nor do they get used to make anything. They will rot here and benefit neither of you. Someone will die. Someone will loose and it will be both of you. Someone will come in and pick up the pieces from your conflict because you are too weak from battle to do anything at all about it.

Andreas turns and starts to walk to his horse. Mounting he adjust his horse so that he can look at them both.

Option two is this. The trees will be removed from here and sent to my town where they will be used to benefit those in need. To make ridge poles for homes. The masts of fishing vessels to feed the people. Corax and ALL of his men will move their operation ten miles north to another grove of coachwood. They will clear the woods and replant a single tree for everyone they fell. Those trees will be taken to the town on the north shore of the Tuskwater. You will be given a fair price for the timber. You are to never return to this region. Melianse, I personally will ride to meet this Dryad and barter with her to replace the trees. You have my word on it. I also will provide seed from the old Sycamore tree that stands to the east of here. I desire to see such a specimen grow in another region of the greenbelt.

If either of you take up arms against the other, I will step in, and it will be resolved quickly. This is a large land with plenty of room for all. I want you to coexist with one another and to thrive in these harsh lands.

My offer expires the moment we leave this grove and are out of sight. It is your call. Fight, die and no one wins...or...live and both of you get what you want. Your call.

Seeing the human that was a werewolf crumble causes Andreas to pause for a bit. He shifts his lance back into its cradle and reaches an arm out to Saoirse.
Here, take my arm. You did admirably tonight. All of you did well. Tend to our wounds and we will see what we know about this...thing. Albert, that was a well-timed blow.

He smiles at the magus and chuckles slightly.
Maybe next time lead with that combo first.

He nods as Jacob moves to heal duzz.

Just so you fully understand the nature of what you are getting involved with...we are not a bunch of little nobles sitting around a banquet table eating and drinking our nights away. We are out on the road often. We meet with our allies and fight to stabilize the region. If you have a problem with Kobolds, Dragons, Iruxi, fighting, getting your hands dirty or war...this region may not be for you. We have made friends with our neighbors the Kobold Tribe known as the Silver Fangs. We just returned from making good relations with the Iruxi tribe to the southwest of us. Going to be sending some supplies to them here soon. We are on the brink of all-out war with Taldor. Not to mention the day-to-day activity of the region or the chaotic nature that is the stolen lands. This is what you will be signing up for. Understand?

Oh and one more thing...I like dragons. They actually are nicer than you would imagine.

We all stay together or at least close by. I do not want anyone to be left alone with this thing. If and when combat breaks out, I want all of us engage right away.

Rillka is correct we should be close by, and I think a single person in combat with a werewolf will be over quickly. Our levels are low.

Very well. I will look into getting us some different horses for this part of the trip. We will do well to acquire a different breed than what we have now. A breed that is lean, compact, and light on their feet. On the shorter side...say fourteen to sixteen hands. Maybe some Keleshite, Akhal-Tekes, or Marwaris. I will look into it and see what we can trade for. These breed snort in the face of extreme heat and lack of vegetation. I will also stock up on some supplies, if anyone is in need of something specific now is the time to make that purchase.

We have eyes on us. I have not been able to located them but we are being watched. I would guess that they know already that we are coming so be prepared and find whomever is watching us.

Christian waits for the survivors to have their say.
So there it is, we or I let a mad rampaging dragon live. The same dragon that destroyed their homes and lives. I had the power to put an end to the madness right then and there. Yet I choose not to. It would be justified and it would have made sense. It would have solved so many problems. These people would have been avenged and would have justice. The bounty in Restov would have been fulfilled and no more innocent lives would be lost to Mercifax. The blood of those innocent lives...is on my hands now.

The voices in his head could be just his imagination or it could be his blade speaking to him by means of telepathy...who knows, he certainly does not know for certain.

The blade is intelligent but is dormant at this time. Will not "awaken" till 3rd level of Blade Bound Magus.

1. What is a short-term goal of your character?
This goal would most certainly be the awakening of his blade. The task of figuring out exactly what it is and how it came to be what it is. To truly bound with his chosen blade.

2. What is a long-term goal of your character?
This one also is an item and one he found on his adventure to the stolen lands. The cup felt as if it could see into his soul and he needs to figure that out at some point. Since this is a link to Cayden it would make sense that this goal would take a bit longer.

3. If your character was given the opportunity to found their own kingdom what would be their motivation to do so?

Now this is a bit more involved than a few sentences but I will try.

I can see this character not actively seeking to be a ruler as he thrives on his personal freedom to be who he is. The stolen lands are untamed and dangerous to those that can not defend themselves. Seeing that adventurers are actively seeking to change that would drive him to do as such. This region also houses a wide range of terrains for which he could see the potential for brewing purposes. Different regions for grains, barley, hops, grapes, honey, fruits, grasses, rye, etc...all of which could lead back to his cup and Cayden as a motivator. The river kingdoms thrive on freedom and the region teems with adventures. Maybe a tavern/brewery in each city called the Silver Cup. A place for adventuresses to relax and put their boots up for a bit. To maintain the freedom of all with very little government oversight. I hope this is understandable....

My companions and I recently recovered a dragon egg and while we were in the process of figuring out who the parents were, we encountered Apothyl who is the mother. Now the whole story is long and complicated but I will forgo it for now. The problem is that her mate has lost all hope of recovering their egg. His grief was so great that it turn to anger. He has fallen and destroyed a village north of here by the name of Nivakta's Crossing. We are traveling there now to confront him. It is our wish to bring him back from this dark path...and if he will not...we will do what we can to stop him from harming anymore innocent lives.

Christian's voice keeps it's respectful tone as he continues.
The boon that I ask is thus. We wish to pass through your lair. I am to understand that it will be faster to travel this way than to traverse the mountains. The longer Mercifax is about the more danger that can befall the area.

With those words spoken, Christian awaits her response.

In game time I have just found the gem and have not been able to add it to the weapon. The other GM was going to have it just enhance my weapon to a +1. If you wish to change it that is fine with me.

As my companions have stated..I am Lord Christian D'Elagante. We have come here to see what damages the Whitehallows...or the scaleless ones...have done. We do not hold to their way of thinking. We are not part of them and are actively searching for them in order to bring them to justice. We have nothing to do with them at all. I promise you this.

Kip is it? I am sorry for what happened to your people. Even in such tragedy, you are standing up for yourselves...showing that you can get past this and move on. That shows courage, determination, resilience...I like that. It shows character and that is important as well.

In exchange we ask that you help us mine the silver from these caves. In time we can expand and open up trade and become friends that depend on one another...Allies maybe. If we should lay claim to the lands above and around your cave...we could even offer our protection.

The Sootscale Chief and shaman are no more true but you have stepped up to help your people...maybe you could name the tribe after the silver mine...the Argent Tribe or even the Orn tribe. Maybe even the...Kip tribe. I am not sure what name would be best, that would be for you to decide.

We are here to help you. If you decide to accept our help we can sit down and discuss the specifics in detail. What say you?

I agree that we should not build a road in the middle of nowhere...I was just pointing out that the cost would be the same in that hex because of the ford.

Ok so here we go.
I truly hope that this will give everyone an idea of where we are in the ruins.
This will give new meaning to the phrase Kender Map.
In my RL gaming group, one of our players played a Kender that made the maps for the party...That player refused to look at the maps the Dm provided instead he created the maps off of the descriptions. It was so confusion but fun.

I could be completely wrong on everything here.
We enter the ruins heading east from the fort. Came to an intersection with passages head North(1) East(2) and South(3).
Here Brand mention going the the left which in turn should have been North(1) but Mr Pink went South(3). So South(3) we went and came to the first dead Halfling. A spellcaster. The path continued on to three more pathways. Left(4), Straight(5) and Right(6). We turn Left(4) which brought us into a oblong room where we found an old cook fire. The Path continued out of this room to another intersection of three passages. Left(7), Straight(8), and Right(9). To the Left(7) we found and fought three cyclops creature thingies. We found another two dead Halflings. There was a large door like in the fort that opened out to the outside. 1/4 Mile West of the Fort. Backtracking to the intersection. We went to the Right(9) and found a collapsed tunnel that may be near a river?. It looked like something tried to dig its way out or something like that. Again backtracking to the intersection we took the last pathway open to us. Straight(8) This lead to the Shrine to Gorum, Medusa, the secret treasury and the red orb.
This is all I could figure out as I do not know which path Sapphira took to find the last surviving Halfling and the sinkhole.

Until I can figure that out, it looks like we three passages that we did not explore...and one the is the sinkhole.

Christian tries to gather all those that have a vested interest in the future of this new kingdom. Looking around from one face to another...or at least those that he can see of course, Christian keeps things pleasant. He hopes that the faces are bright and renewed with vitality after the hazards they all have endured over the last week or so.
Tomorrow, we break our fast in the company of new friends and new opportunities. It is an important day and I wish all of you to be present. So please enjoy your night and get some sleep. I will see all of you when the sun is full above the horizon.
Those hopefully present (at least) are the party, Cavan, Narthropple, Sapphira, Kesten...Oleg and Svetlana are not here as far as I know.

Come morning, Christian is up bright and early before the sun turn the skies pink. He heads to a cook fire and starts to aid in making the meal for that morning. Toiling with pots and pans, he lends a hand where one is needed. When the time comes, he makes sure the room that will be used for breaking of the fast is ready. He places a simple glass wine bottle on the table. A smoked tint gives it a silver like color. The label reads The Silver Scale...4710. At the appointed time, he stands at the table waiting for all to join him.
My friends, thank you for joining me. Every last person here has aided in one way or another to this endeavor. Those right here in this room have a direct hand in the molding of our future. I would like to give thanks to each of you for your time, your patience and your sacrifices. None of this could have been possible without each of you but I digress...please sit and enjoy your meal.

He motions for all to sit. He continues as the other eat and drink.
We have a few things that we should discuss before we continue claiming...reclaiming these lands. The cavern underneath us needs to be fully explored and mapped out. Having this unknown under our feet is dangerous. Once that is finished we can then decided what we will do with that area. We also need to establish some income. There is a gold mine that we need to put to use and the Kobolds have an old silver mine that may or may not be dry. Bridges to repair and roads to build. Defenses to be put in place. I think with all that is needed...we should place someone in charge of those projects. A royal engineer as it were. I think it will help us out in the long run.

He pauses and take drink to wash down his food.
I have heard that it is bad luck to sail a ship without a name. Some call it a superstition but I tend to lean on the cautious side of things like this. We should have a name for our new kingdom...and for this city, its capital. I am of Argent Dracos and being of the Order of the Dragon does make me somewhat partial to dragons. The Dragon Kingdom and maybe Dragon City...Those are simple words that I am just tossing around. I think we all should have a voice in this. Thoughts?

After some talk of a name or two, Christian moves on to his next topic.
Today marks a bright future for all of us. I think we should celebrate this day each and every year. Founding Day, for today we have found our new kingdom. We found a renewed faith in our gods and their blessings. We also found our faith in our neighbors and the values that we hold dear. The skills to create and become that which seems impossible...we have found our dreams and strive to achieve them. Founding Day...A bit too much?

He continues once again after some more eating.
The building of an Inn might help bring merchants and new citizens to our lands. Something that we will need.
He smiles ruefully.
Did I mention that I am partial to dragons...Maybe the inn could be called the Dragons Rest?
Christian laughs softly.

There is need of skilled laborers and those that can do simple labor. We may want to get the word out that there is opportunity here for those that are willing to work for it.

Christian face softens lightly..
Taxes...no one likes them but they are needed. I think we should keep them as low as possible until we get our feet under us and rolling in the correct direction.

After much debate and discussion. Christian stands and picks up the bottle that has been sitting on the table in front of him. Looking at it and turning it this way and that, he smiles at the others.
This here is a bottle of wine produced from grapes that where frozen while still on the vine. This gives it its characteristic refreshing sweetness balanced by high acidity. The man who created such a beverage was a simple man named Felton. He was my friend and he was one hell of a vintner. I miss him. This is my last and it was bottled the same year I found Argent Dracos. I think it appropriate that we share this bottle in celebration of our future together.

With those last words said Christian opens the wine and proceeds to walk around filling each glass. The ladies first and then the men. He fills his glass last and places the bottle down on the table.

A toast to our kingdom. A kingdom is not just land and government. It's people, culture and generations of life to come give it purpose. Though they may come and go, they shape us like rocks in a stream. We may not see their effects in the moment, a lifetime of friendship makes each of us smooth and complete: the best of what we can be. So, let us drink to our kingdom. To our friends and to our families...like those here today.
He raises he glass.

Just got home. We got a lot done over the weekend. Foundation, floor and walls are all done. We also wrapped the structure in water proofing.

I get to go back up in a couple of days to start filling in the dirt to cover up most of the house. I also will start building my stone wall.

Then it is on to the loft and roof. Still need to build a door and complete the fire place in the floor. Then after all that is done I get to start work on the carvings inside. I have a few people I know who love to do these things. That will help out as I will be very busy forging the a frame to hang all my cast iron pots from.
