Jorrast hears the query and replies. "I'm here, watching the enemy. Nothing significant to report over what is already known. Some of the lesser enemy were slain. But the big one, the bears and a fair number of the lesser barbarians are still there."

"I'm in range to send a fireball at them if a diversion is wanted. ??"

Jorrast focuses on Alice before he gets out of range. 2 miles with the ring? "Hey. Reinforcements will be converging on Fort Drelev. I'm going to stay and watch the enemy. You might want to head that way."

Jorrast replies to Stalker. "I'll be fine. Alice is bringing back a new friend. An elven archer. Didn't have time to get much information on her."

He'll head back and scout some high ground where he can be under cover but still watch the camp. Downwind if possible for Scent.
Stealth: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (13) + 28 = 41
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

Jorrast answers, "I was just starting back to the enemy to stay and scout. I can stay and observe until stronger forces arrive. Nothing short of a hell hound should be able to spot me. Should I come to you?"

Sounds good. I try. But sometimes I can't connect.

Alice's Diplomacy is almost God-like. Jorraste will leave chatting with the new ally to her.

Jorrast flies along with Alice and Evara until they are fairly certain that they've escaped. He flies down to the ground. "The flight hex isn't unlimited. I'd like to save a couple of minutes if needed for later. How fast can you move on foot? I want to stay ahead of the barbarians, especially that big leader of theirs!"

Jorrast's base speed in fox form is 60'

Jorrast takes fox form and flies as directed by Alice.

"I agree. Run for home. That big one is too powerful. And we got the prisoners away."

I'm still here. I checked the site about 10 times per day, and read some on my Kindle.

Yes! Follow the flying fox, until he is far enough away to safely land. Pretty sure I can outrun the horde. Or if I can get into some trees and brush they'll never find me.

Evara is using the flight hex too? So she can keep up.

Jorrast would have activated Barkskin and gotten his fur dirty to hide the color before moving in. Then located as safe of a hiding place as possible near the cage to wait.

Round 21
When Jorrast spots the group coming in he moves to the cage and checks to see if it can be opened.

How close are the guards to the cage? Might be better if I attack to provide a distraction. ??

"Sounds good. I'll sneak back in and wait close to the cage." He heads back in trying to get close to the cage without being noticed.

Stealth: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (13) + 26 = 39
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27

Haste is rounds per level so don't include Jorrast.

Jorrast returns to the group and maps out what he has seen. "I don't think we can do an open attack and keep them from harming the prisoners. But they don't seem to have hurt them so far. If there were some way to put a protective shell around them? Or fly in and grab them. The roof of the cage looks like leather, and the cage itself is wood."

Who all is here?

Could someone cast Tears to Wine to boost certain useful skills?

Jorrast takes fox shape and sneaks in to scout the camp, avoiding any confrontation if possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (2) + 31 = 33
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

When Jorrast finally meets with Stalker he explains about his skills. He isn't a great fighter or diplomat, but he's pretty good at staying unseen. He's still having trouble casting spells due to the last encounter, but everything else seems fine.

He's currently planning on joining with the team after the Spidersilk bounty.

Is there a position open for a spy?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Jorrast will jump up and ride on saddle bags of anyone that lets him.

Hardness 8 means I can't damage them....

Sorry. Previous said it was round 34 when the first chain grabbed me and pulled me to the ground. 35 was the failed attempt. 36 was change to fox form. 37 would be the escape and trying to fly but being grabbed by the second chain.

Round 38
"Crap! How many are there!?!" He scrambles trying to wiggle out of the chains and fly away....
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27

Possible. I do shrink from 5'2", 120 lb humanoid to a "tiny" animal. An Internet search indicates that a fox is slightly larger than an average house cat.

Still struggling he calls out, "Help! The chains...."

He changes into fox form and continues struggling against the chains. Try again?: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

If that works he flies up trying to get out of the reach of the chains.

Jorrast heads toward Arella to see if there is some way to free her. ??

Double move to get there.

Perception?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Round 27

With no enemy close by Jorrast shape changes back to his tiny fox shape and moves over by the pile of bodies to hide and watch.

Is the portal open? If so, heading that way.

Curious about the bones Jorrast grabs a couple of the neck bones and holds them, watching then.

Round 2
Still feeling sick Jorrast is almost happy to finally be able to clearly see the enemy. He ducks around Roci's wings and sends another acid splash at one of the little demons, still trying to stay unnoticed.

To Hit Ranged Touch attack: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 = 31
damage if that hits?: 1d3 + 1 + 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4, 5, 4, 1) - 2 = 15
stealth to stay hidden while attacking?: 1d20 + 26 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 26 - 2 = 27 Ouch! Some of the demons might be able to spot him with that roll....

Not sure what he can see, but Jorrast the fox will target any demon in range with an acid splash while hiding on Roci. Sickened is a -2, right?

To Hit Ranged Touch atatck: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 13 - 2 = 18
damage if that hits?: 1d3 + 1 + 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (3, 4, 1, 1) - 2 = 9
stealth to stay hidden while attacking?: 1d20 + 26 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 26 - 2 = 41

Jorrast hangs on, hoping his nausea will fade....

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 Valid roll!

"I'm...." He chokes for a second, "as ready as I can be."

Yep. Riding the ever hungry Roci. Nauseous and trying not to retch on him.... Last time he ate he was in native form. That might be interesting to see what comes out of his tiny fox form....

Jorrast chokes, doing his best to not dump his last meal on the bones.... "Which way to go to get out of this stench!?!"

I'd recommend waiting until we have an idea what we may be seeing. Don't waste a spell that we may want later....

LOL! Through a blind portal and in to a melee with unknown opponents.

Fun?

As long as Roci doesn't eat me I'm with them!

Fort Save DC18: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Always gotta be Fort! Sickened for 3 minutes....

Jorrast glances around, then moves to hop aboard as Vandomir had said. "Certainly. As long as Roci doesn't mistake me for a snack!"

Not sure I'd want to see what sort of worms eat their way out of the apples....

Jorrast will go in with whoever leads, pretending to be a familiar again....

Jorrast is sneaky. Is there a role for spy?

"I hope we don't have to cast them. All I can cast are cantrips.... and a couple hexes."

"Cat's grace for me! Any boost to my agility is great!"

Jorrast changes to fox form before going.

Only the wand from Jorrast. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

48 damage
Round 7

Feeling the pounding of the ice storms, after the previous hit, Jorrast decides living is more important than valor. He sees Zandarian fall and flies over to the man.

Trying to hide behind him while checking for any sign of life? He has a CLW wand but can't under death.... Heal check?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Jorrast continues his cackle to keep the hexes active. The Baron is a hard opponent. With his attack and defense reduced Jorrast now targets his magical defenses....

Evil Eye hex -4 to saving throws. Should have started with this one! Duration: 7 rounds. Will Save DC18 reduces it to 1 round.

Jorrast glances around for any cover that he might duck under, but hexes the Baron again, this time to make him easier to hit....

Evil Eye hex -4 to armor class. Duration: 7 rounds. Will Save DC18 reduces it to 1 round.

He cackles to extend all the hexes another round regardless of the save.

I saw the question about speed earlier. In fox form my base speed is 40'.

Round 2
Reflex save DC21, Evasion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

Round 3
Seeing the baron jumping around striking Jorrast targets him with his next hex.

Evil Eye hex -4 to attack rolls. Duration: 7 rounds. Will Save DC18 reduces it to 1 round.

He cackles to extend the hexes a round regardless of the save.

Jorrast sneaks along the wall in fox form watching the battle. He hexes the closest enemy (Blue, in front of Xandarian) to make his attacks less effective.

Evil Eye hex -4 to attack rolls. Duration: 7 rounds. Will Save DC18 reduces it to 1 round.
Stealth to stay hidden while sniping: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (7) + 26 = 33

With the sounds Jorrast decides that scouting isn't needed, but his fox shape is practically invisible. He follows the group to see what is fighting.

Ha! He's already fawning over that vixen....

I was hurt before this fight but healed up. Evasion and not getting up close and personal has saved me since. (Unless I missed something? I re-read the last few pages... ??

Not seeing any enemy but also not wanting to get in the way Jorrast waits and watches.

Looking at the map I don't think I can see any of the enemies. Also, I haven't been hurt. Do I need any saving throws?

I asked if anyone wanted a new familiar....
