Is there a PFS Special this year? And what day/slot?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Lost Omens, Pathfinder Accessories, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

I can't remember what Con did it - maybe PaizoCon online or online Europe? - but one Con had the option of running tables for specials in person away from the Con. Is that an option here? I realize it's a bit late to ask this but it's an evolving situation.

Thanks!
Chris

Is there a way to transfer tickets? I'd be happy to reimburse people looking for refunds in exchange for a ticket...

I would like to share that I'm somewhat disappointed with this situation. I started my kids on Pathfinder and cons when they were in grade school. Since we live nearby, we made it to multiple paizocons, a highlight for the year, and played some stellar games. It was tough coordinating four people to get in the same games, but we'd all be on our devices as soon as signup was allowed to pull it off.

2020 and the pandemic came and I didn't bother buying tickets. Cons were generally being canceled and those that weren't were almost certain to be superspreader events. However, if you had told me that I wouldn't be able to go to the next in person Con without buying tickets in 2020 (and, if something came up, I could get a refund even), I would have totally slapped my credit card down to get them.

My youngest (now in high school) hates VTT so only my oldest and I did the virtual Cons.

Currently, Paizo is requiring people to "opt out" of their "limited attendance" con. That means, if they do nothing, they have a ticket and Paizo keeps their ticket fees, which is pretty standard because it helps the company. For instance, Starbucks has a zillion dollars in unused gift cards. However, this strategy will not maximize attendance. The simple fact is that there is a significant number of people who won't or can't request a refund. Some don't check the message boards because they've lost interest and/or feel they gave Paizo a donation during the pandemic. Honestly, statistically, some people have passed away. How significant the number of people who aren't coming but hold a ticket is obviously uncertain.

To maximize attendance with the limitations, Paizo should have either required people to "opt in" (making the default a refund) or provide a decision of some sort - email or fill out a form with whether they want a refund or not.

It's not too late. You could ask the people with valid tickets to confirm their planned attendance.

I hate to criticize because, well, I love Paizo and I know huge amounts of people volunteer to make it awesome. But, still.

Blastoff looks up at the Vesk, eyes wide in surprise as if finding a new but promising pupil, before his natural cool reasserts itself. A long drag, a wave of a paw, and the smoke he blows takes on the shape of the Vesk system, each planet represented and correct in size and location. He coughs, contemplating the sight.

Is it a roll (say, mysticism) to know what shimmer stone is, or is it common knowledge or unknown? If Blastoff knows, he says:

Spoiler:

"Shimmer Stone is a mystical stone. Found only on Vesk 8, it reflects the very nature of the stars themselves in its substance. It has great power!" he finishes with a squeak of excitement.

Hi,

My players found Skarja's heartstone on the first session. Any suggestions on how to approach this? I stonewalled until next week.

Interesting thread. I've been playing RPG's since the 80's. I GM'ed the hardback Rise of the Runelords for a couple of years 10 years ago and then quit. It was at a Con that I saw Organized Play. To be honest, I coveted the paper chronicles, the chance to grow my character throughout the wide RL world.

Plus, my kids were old enough to game and, if you've never RPG'ed with 10-year-olds, there's a couple of things they all want:
1. Make their own characters (no pregens)
2. Have that character be portable to other games (they fall in love with their characters and want to play them with other friends).

Under traditional RPG home games, #2 isn't possible. It is, however, through organized play (though a bit complicated).

Anyway, PFS got me hooked on pathfinder. I run or organized a couple of sessions per week and play PFS when I can. Regarding, the income situation for Paizo, I have like 6 subscriptions, double buy the important rulebooks, and have roped a dozen other people into playing and buying.

PFS was the gateway drug. :)

Hi all,

I've been frustrated for months trying to get to the online boons. I have tons of AcP but whenever I try to buy, I push "Choose Character" and there's nothing there. Well, today I figured out how to fix it. I had to register a 2nd edition character. I feel a little dim.

However, if anybody else is having the same problem, here's the solution!

So, everybody knows that orcs in the Mwangi expanse are demon hunters. Any suggestions on a demon hunter build? Also, all the orc gods seem to be evil. Suggestions on deities for said demon hunters?

Thanks.

From what I see by the game report, it appears that an Adventure Path book grants credit equal to 3 tables in terms of earning glyphs. Is this the case?

I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer to this question. I apologize if it's been answered elsewhere.

*** Venture-Agent, Washington—Tacoma

I missed 3-6, barely got 1-2. Bummed. Any chance they'll add more tables?

Is there something somewhere explaining Pathfinder Bounties?

While I was excited for a campaign set entirely in Absalom, I knew none of my players would want to be cops, and I didn't really want to GM a group of cops, either. I'm heartened to hear those elements can be easily replaced, and that the option to do so is receiving support through the Player's Guide.

I actually asked my players and they said they were completely and utterly uninterested in the concept. Maybe I can sell them on the "police free" version. We'll see.

"We’ve also got one final announcement: the sanctioning for the Age of Ashes Adventure Path is now available! You can find the instructions on earning credit for the Pathfinder Society as well as chronicle sheets on the Age of Ashes product page."

*Kermit flail* AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm so happy!

Sanctioning. Yay!

*** Venture-Agent, Washington—Tacoma

Any idea of Age of Ashes is going to be sanctioned at some point? If so, any ideas when that might be?

Thanks!

PaizoCon is listed as May 26-31, but I find on Warhorn that games stop at 8am on May 30.

Am I doing it right?

Thanks!

I'm curious about the change in dates. I had PaizoCon time taken off from work basically as soon as they mentioned the dates. I can't take that whole week off, especially considering the backlog I'll have after the epidemic.

My kids may be able to do that time and they're certainly tired of being at home, so maybe it will work better for them.

Once again, curious not complaining.

And, if you wanted to speak to times for gaming I would love to hear it.

Take care!
Chris

Very Sad. Our whole family is crying.

When Norwescon was canceled, they addressed what would happen with room block reservations. I can't recall off hand if I paid a deposit.

Can you speak to that?

Thank you.

At the moment, your Tien fighter can't get a katana, regardless of race. As far as I know, there's no published source that says "the katana is a common weapon in the Tien culture."
Well, at least as far as Katana goes, there is now a published, legal source that gives access to it.

What source?

Ok, i've been trying to figure out the benefits of crafting. As far as I've seen there's none. You get the same money from earning income as you would crafting something but instead of having the money it just goes towards the item. Wouldn't you get it just as quick by saving and buying it as crafting it?

Earn income is done at level-2 (minimum 0), while crafting is done at level.

Plus it's cool to make stuff.

I think faction tags give an extra 50% or something.

So, I want to build an animal instinct barbarian - ape. I get increased unarmed damage and "grapple." How does allowing my fist attacks to grapple help me in any way? I can already grapple. The weapon qualifier for grapple doesn't really help because I'm unarmed.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

There's a couple things I plan on reminding people about upfront, but otherwise, I like the idea of talking about new rules as they come up in gameplay. Letting people pick factions after they get a chance to meet all the faction leaders is another good idea.

What do you remind people upfront.

Any idea when they'll drop?

Will more PFS games open between now and the Con?

We were at DragonCon last year and binge-played PFS. So we decided to do the same at Paizo. We're extremely local but will stay in the hotel to avoid stupid traffic.

We is our family of four, including 13 and 10-year-olds.

How do we make certain we're doing stuff together, regarding lotteries, banquet, etc?

Thanks!
