Seeing some interest, I started prepping 1-00 (it looks like a fun one!) but it made me realize that with the new store layout still finding its feet, it's hard to point people to the pregen files. So I went ahead and converted all the level 3 iconics to BBcode so people can use them on the forums: Pregens in BB Code (the SFS 2E folder) For now it's just level 3, since it's what I need at the moment, but I can add the other levels later on. If anyone is feeling bored and would like to check them over for accuracy, that would be great... I've caught a couple mistakes in my own work so who knows if there are more typos or copy-paste errors lurking.
Since I missed the first wave of scenarios when SF2e first came out, but I like following the season big-picture stories, I'm thinking about offering to run one or more of the earlier metaplot scenarios to catch up (so 1-00, 1-01, 1-05). Is there still demand for these? If everyone here has already played them and would just be repeating, I'd be more likely to go with something from the newer scenarios instead, like 1-07, 1-08, or 1-09. (I can use the new store gold to get a scenario or two for free, but I'd love to use that for something that folks would actually find fun and interesting, so I'm open to suggestions.)

While they are aboard the Merry Mayfly, a gnome with bright blue hair and faintly green skin scampers here and there, curiously watching what every one of the sailors is doing. She frequently pauses what she is doing to sniff the air and then immediately returns to motion, resembling a hunting dog that is still an energetic puppy. As she crosses paths with every Pathfinder in the group she introduces herself proudly, possibly more than once if she has lost track: "Tockit's what they call me!" Tockit settles down when they gather below deck on the Lightbringer for the briefing. She listens with deep respect to the representative from the Radiant Oath, but her eyes also sparkle with excitement. "I've never worked with a smuggler before, how invigorating!" When the list gets passed to her, she reads it somberly. "Peoples' lives depend on us remembering their names, oh dear! Well, I know one way to memorize what really matters." She starts humming and then comes up with a quick melody to help her remember the list of clients. 🎵
She gives the smuggler man a side-eye glance and adds, "No offense. I needed something that rhymed, you see."
Veniir wrote: @GM: Quick question. I'm going uRogue, and the class gets free Weapon Finesse at level 1, but it's not a thing with Elephant in the Room rules. Do you have a preferred way to deal with this? I'm not the GM obviously, but I see that the class errata appendix for EitR has rules for what an Unchained Rogue does to replace the finesse training. Is that what you're asking about?
Greetings! It has been years since I did any PbP, and also years since I've played Starfinder, but with the new edition coming out I was feeling the siren call to return. I know you all just started a gameday so I don't expect any new games to be starting up soon, but it will take me some time anyway to remember how the forums work... and read the new Starfinder rules... and the SFS rules... So for now I'll just express general interest in any SFS2 scenarios whenever a chance comes up. And maybe down the road I'll be able to GM again once I remember how things work.
I played this scenario first, and our GM was pretty confused about the ship layout. When I got to GM it, I found out why. I had to stare at the map for a long time and read and re-read the room descriptions to figure out what was going on. It could really use some 'Tab A goes into Slot B' indications. Here's how I did it: * Start in D1, may or may not fight some robots
(Forward = left side of the map, Aft = right side)
They were talking about the Iconic Encounters that are coming out for each of the Pathfinder iconics. They've been very evocative little story snippets. See them all here. I'd love to get some for the Starfinder iconics at some point! I just got to watch the episode with Sutter too, and it was a very fun one. You should definitely have him back. It seems like he has a lot of interesting experiences to share. :)
I got my pdf today! I always skim through the art and the articles at the back first, and I must say I'm a fan of the "Touring the Archipelago" article. It's a fun angle for examining a location. And who wouldn't like to take a tourist jaunt to the Sun? Alien Archive creatures: Janni, medium outsider (native) CR 4 Mephit, small outsider (extraplanar, variety of grafts with different subtypes) CR 3 Suli, medium outsider (native) CR 1 + playable race Sylph, medium outsider (native) CR 2 + playable race Salamander, medium outsider (extraplanar, fire) CR 6 Thoqqua, medium outsider (earth, elemental, extraplanar, fire) CR 2
You're in luck! They did an unboxing video on Twitch, and showed off a lot of the art. The adventure material was mostly kept back, for obvious spoiler-related reasons. The video is up on YouTube now here. I'm a big fan of the reference cards myself. They did not talk about the pdf however, to my memory.
My advice: if you're eager to try GMing PF1 society scenarios, just do it, and ignore the hand-wringing and cries of despair from the forums. (Okay, I exaggerate. Maybe.) Don't let it get you down, and play what you want to play. You seem like a motivated person, and if you're excited about what you want to run, you'll probably be able to get some players excited too. I just started PFS a year or two ago, so the vast majority of the scenarios I don't know anything about. That's a lot of content that I'd love to explore, and I'm sure there are others out there like me. Also yes, the pbp community will definitely have an audience for PF1 for a long time to come. You're quite welcome to join us at the Flaxseed Lodge!
A few housekeeping notes: * I didn't think to ask before whether you all have experience with the Mummy's Mask base set and things like traders, triggers, and scourges. If not, I recommend you read the manual for Mummy's Mask (free to download as a pdf) and ask if anything is ever not clear. There are no traders for this first scenario, so we'll talk about that next time. * I added your turn order to the campaign header, and the curses and scourge table to the Campaign Info tab for your reference. The basic rundown of how scourges work is if you need to take a random curse, roll the scourge die (currently 1d4+1), find the curse on the scourge table, and display it next to your character. If you are instructed to take a specific curse, ignore the scourge table. * There are no organized-play-specific rules about whether you should read the villain and henchmen before a scenario. I included their text in the scenario setup under spoilers, so you can choose whether you want to look at them or not. If nobody wants to have that available, I can leave it out from future updates; let me know. * I prefer not to retcon anyone's turn unless the turn was illegal, such as by forgetting a scenario power or making a mistake in the rules. In play-by-post this is going to happen sometimes. I encourage you to review the adventure, scenario, and location powers before you post to make sure you haven't forgotten something. Also if you're not sure about anything you can confer in this discussion thread or on the Hangout. It's easier to delay a turn but get it right than try to go back later and fix what's already been done. * Some people like to roleplay their characters. You're welcome to do so, but it isn't mandatory. Feel free to include as much or as little flavor in your posts as you wish. Alright, those were a lot of words! I put up the first scenario locations, so you can go ahead and choose your starting locations and draw opening hands (in that order), whenever you're ready. Let's have a good time!

My chronicle looks right to me! And I'd be happy to play with you again any time! :D To close the table, go to edit the campaign on the Campaign Info tab and there's a checkbox near the top that says "This campaign is no longer active." (Of course after giving people some time to retrieve their chronicles.) I'd like to go to PaizoCon someday, but it's an expensive endeavour to get all the way out there. If I start planning for it now, maybe I can go next year. Assuming they stream seminars and the banquet again, I'll be watching from home though!
I've updated the chronicles, at the same location. Do check it over for errors, as I would not be surprised in the least... But I think I got it right this time.
Oooh! I can hardly wait to hear which classes you'll be playing. (And consequently which ones we'll get a sneak preview of their final forms.) My impressions from the silhouettes are as follows: Gabe: Vesk! No, that's not it... Kobold? Wait...

Maoshi is initially quite shocked by the idea of what they're about to do, but as reality sinks in she starts getting curious about whether the entire area is really alive. While they're assembling the climbing equipment, Maoshi carefully double-checks her armor's protection seals and wonders aloud about what it's like to be inside an enormous organism. "Do you think if we do find the brain we'll be able to... you know, communicate with it? Could you even do that from inside? Is it likely to have some kind of immune system? Or maybe other things live in there, like a kind of symbiosis." At Bubba and Laksell's discussion she tilts her head to one side. "And yet most people find fleas displeasing, don't they? Even void dragons. It might not enjoy being pricked by our equipment, but I think it would be a wise precaution to take anyway, until we know for sure." Anywhere in the middle is fine for positioning.

Maoshi grips the straps of her backpack tightly, as if afraid that it will blow away, and braces herself against the wind. She shouts over the noise, "This looks to be a challenge! Here, I'll hold the base steady while you set up the first few spokes. We'll have to find a spot between those lumps and dips." She wrestles the equipment out of Aba's vehicle and starts trying to get the tower set up. Athletics to aid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Oh yes, I had forgotten the die bump. You each get one of those after completing that scenario as well. Does Lesath still want the Item B upgrade without the card feat? Agna/grimsnik (99317-1003): Ally 2, bonus card feat (Ally), not using random deck upgrade, die bump, bonus upgrade from the boon (Ally 2)
Collision's Wake
Since this thread wasn't mine I can't mark it as inactive, but I'll put in a request with customer service. Otherwise, it will drop off eventually if nobody posts here.

Maoshi stands at the foot of the tower as it's being constructed, overseeing the work. She squints at the birds as they spiral closer, and shades her eyes with one hand to get a better look. "Ah, those must be the bird-like creatures Dr Motressi was talking about. They don't actually look much like birds up close though. She was wondering about what they eat, right? Do you think they like minerals too?" Token placed. I'm not trained in either Engineering or Life Science, alas.

AoO slam at Yanda: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 The chair lunges at Yanda as she tries to slip past, but she squeaks past uninjured. Balin's swing again has a little less impact than it should, but it does substantial damage anyway. Kahwen performs an impressive acrobatic display, and before the chair can even react he slides his blade into a critical joint and tears it apart. The smoldering pieces collapse with a clatter. Thadeaus, you can save your wand charge since it went down before you acted. The door continues to make whirring noises as its machinery clicks and clacks, forming new entities out of the clockwork. You sense that something else is coming but has not yet formed up. As with the opening scene, you can all take one round's worth of actions. Round 3
I don't live overseas so the shipping isn't too bad for me, but depending on the details it might or might not be worth the 20% discount and potential access to promos. I'm also not sure yet whether my FLGS will be stocking the sets when they come out. So I too am sitting on my subscription until we get more information, like what the weight of these two sets will be. (Have they announced that anywhere yet?)
I too wish there were an easy way to see an overview of scenarios and their tags. I made a spreadsheet to track the tags, main locations, continuing storylines, and scenario authors. It was for my own reference, but if you want to use it you can see it here. (Everything is entered manually, mostly based on the scenario product descriptions, so I make no guarantees about its accuracy.) Sometimes I refer to this wiki article that lists all the scenarios for the season and includes their tags, among other info. Pfstracker is also a wonderful resource and I heartily recommend it as well. :)
We should be getting a Rooboo incoming, I believe. You can join our Hangout here.
Collision's Wake
I realized looking back that it might not have been quite clear, but the things you did in the miner's district, particularly neutralizing the haunt, contributed to it being claimed. So it's not that other tables swooped in before you could get anything done. (I don't know if anyone felt that way, but I do find that the whole success/advancement mechanic is a little opaque when we do it behind the scenes in pbp.) Also, we have an aid token again! Let me know when/how you want to use it. Or if you don't think you need it, we can also pass it along unused at any time. Two more tokens have just been distributed from the supplies being found, so there are more in circulation now.
The second one. The line is "Reduce the DC to identify a rare creature using Life Science by 5." So only applies when you can use life science to identify the creature, and technically, it only applies to rare creatures (though personally I don't enforce that in my home game and let it apply to any life science identification check because I like giving players creature info). Compare to the Colonist theme: "Reduce the DC to identify average creatures using Life Science by 5." And the Death-touched theme: "You can use Perception, rather than Mysticism, to recall knowledge about undead and negative energy effects when you first observe them."
Collision's Wake
They are 10ft squares, you can attack from that space, and it is not difficult terrain. So yes, you can make that attack.
Yup, exactly so. You can even play three different Mavaros concurrently (playing through three different seasons, for example), if you track the cards and upgrades and everything separately. Of course with physical cards it can get complicated to keep swapping them back and forth, so it's important to maintain good records.
Collision's Wake
Seriously though, look at Goose's last gunnery roll. 46 damage on 10d6, that's incredible! And it only would have worked on the aft arc where the shields were destroyed the turn before. It's great when everything comes together. I'll make a post tomorrow to start the boarding of the King Xeros, I just need to catch my breath after that intense dogfight. ;)
Collision's Wake
Harrying fire is not an action in starship combat. There are other things you could do - fire at will, broadside, or switch to captain to encourage someone, for example. But since these virtual dice were rolled I'm going with the two shots. Rolls:
Divert to shields: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Evade: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 15 + 2 = 24 Turret: 1d20 + 12 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 3 - 2 = 21 Aeon caster: 1d20 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 12 + 3 = 28 Caster damage: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 6, 1, 5) = 23 Gear knuckles down and quickly restructures the ship's controls so the forward weapons can be fired without difficulty. It will need further repair later, but for now this is the crew's moment of glory! Mordack once again boosts their targeting system, and Buzz begins a daring maneuver to fly right up against the King Xeros's aft so their weapons can fire at point blank range. The King Xeros activates its quantum defense and tries to evade the incoming vessel, but it can't get away in time. The Drake's nose almost brushes against the other ship's shielding, but he manages to pull off the maneuver. Pangea fires the front coilgun but the shot misses wildly. Goose's particle beam, with Mordack's targeting assistance and Gear's quick patch, manages to hit the nearly-unprotected aft quadrant of the King Xeros! It takes down the hastily-restored shields and shoots right through to the ship's hull. Meanwhile the King Xeros attempts to return fire. Its damaged turret weapon can't lock on, but the starboard aeon caster fires off a shot as the Drake pulls away. The Starfinder ship's port shields are fully active, and are able to completely absorb the blast. At that moment, the damage from Goose's shot propagates throughout the vessel. Thanks to the research found earlier, Goose knew where to hit to disable the ship without doing serious damage to it, but it seems to be quite clearly dead in space, and is now releasing vapor-like wisps of ethereal essence at a steady pace. Its escape has been halted! You win! That was a truly epic last round, well done! *** After a few moments pass, several of the Azlanti modifications detach from the ship and drift away, and there are beams of light shooting out from the Drift engine while the whole ship shakes violently. Two escape pods launch from the ship's flanks. You hear Naiaj's voice crackle over the comms once more. "You have all done well. We are not quite finished fighting the vanguard over here, but I'm worried about the King Xeros. Something looks very wrong over there. You need to get over there and stop whatever is causing that erratic behavior. The rest of us will join you as support as soon as we get a chance. Naiaj out." You can dock with one of the empty pod bays, now that the escape pods have been jettisoned.

Heh, as I was contemplating, I came up with a new idea for a half-orc operative that I'd really like to try. Too many characters, not enough time! But the envoy is first in line so it's only fair if I give her chance. Player Name/Alias: Elinnea
Anything else you want us to know: This particular envoy can Inspiring Boost but not Get 'Em, and I intend to do some harrying/covering fire. Assuming we get into fights. (Violence is Plan B!) Also, Paizo needs to make more summerborn ryphorian art stat. Not everyone likes being white and fluffy. Bald is beautiful. |
