Welcome to my table for the Retrocon multi-table special Legacy of the Stonelords!

We're scheduled to start on January 14th, so it's still over a month away, but for big specials like this it's always good to start early and get your... tengus in a row. This is a classic (non-core) table for levels 3-4. Your characters will be busy from January 14 through March 8, so make sure they'll be free for that time frame. If you need to change which character you will bring, you can still do that up until just before we begin.

My apologies. Yes, I want normal progression. Likewise, you asked about special abilities. Esmeralda has the first two feats in Kitsune Style, which allow her to use a dirty trick at the end of a charge, and apply 2 conditions with a successful use of the dirty trick maneuver.

I missed the special abilities part.

Kahwen has 2 archetypes (Swordmaster from Advanced Race Guide and Scout from Advanced Players Guide.)

Swordmaster lets him use a Stance that replicates a Style ability. He only knows Crane, at the moment so he can get extra boosts to his AC for a few rounds a day - Crane Stance - -2 penalty to Attack Rolls. +4 Dodge Bonus to AC when fighting defensively, + 7 for full defense.

Scout lets him do Sneak Attack Damage any time he charges a target.

And his Rogue Tricks are Quick Getaway which lets him withdraw after a successful Sneak Attack and Resilience which gives him temporary hit points when he hits 0 or below.

Oh...and the Glide Racial trait, which lets him make a DC 15 Fly check to be treated as though he has Feather Fall in effect any time he falls and another DC 15 check to move 5' for every 10' dropped.

Happy 2019! Hope you all have had a good start to the new year.

We're a little over a week from the start date, so I have a few more comments before we jump in.

Because this is a play-by-post multitable special, with a momentum of its own beyond just our table, the game is going to move quickly. You will need to do your best to post at least once per day, and I will be more aggressive than I normally would be about botting characters or putting them on delay if necessary, and in some cases I will do mass rolls rather than wait for people to respond.

As always, if something comes up and you won't be able to post, if at all possible do let us know. Things happen, I completely understand, but communication makes all the difference.

Now! I have a few tasks for each of you. Don't worry, they're simple.

1) Go to the slides for this game, linked here and also in my alias and at the top of the campaign. On the first slide, fill in your Initiative and Perception bonuses.

2) Put a token for yourself on that slide in whatever marching order you would like to use.

3) The second slide has the instructions for the aid tokens used in this game. Take a few minutes to read them now so when we get one in the game you'll have ideas for how to use it.

Welcome to the PBP family!

You can use whichever character you most want to play, but I think the investigator would be a good addition to the team.

When you go to edit the alias, anything that you put in the Race, Classes/Levels, and Gender fields are what will show up under your name on each post. The main text box at the bottom of the alias edit page is where you can put all your other character information (your online version of the character sheet).

There's a document here: PFS Character Template that has a template you can use to format the text and figure out where to type what. You can also click on your fellow teammates to see how they are set up.

Let me know if you need more help getting that done, or for any other questions about play by post. Everybody was new at one point, so no need to worry about that. :)

Prepare for a good time! I think you will find that the role-play aspect of the game is much easier to get into when doing PbP.

Untrained knowledge checks can still gain information up to DC 10 but not above. (Mentioning this since it's a standard practice in pbp that may not necessarily be obvious.)

To answer some questions: the ledge 40 feet down is the farthest anyone will fall if they fail the DC or go down for any reason. The damage and Reflex save will also be the same for anyone who falls down.

If you want to climb down there on purpose with a rope and then up the other side, you could do two DC 15 climb checks. I'm not sure that would be better. If you or your characters have any other ideas for how to approach the situation you're free to pitch them.

There's also a way around if you don't want to deal with this obstacle, as I just posted in gameplay.

Balin, you need to attempt the Reflex save. Yanda said she will use feather fall if you fail the save to fall gracefully.

I have no problem having Kahwen climb back across to save the trouble of having someone almost inevitably fail a climb check.

Since the Miner's district has just been checked off anyway, is there an option and, if so do we want to take it, of just going on to the Monument District, instead?

Has the fact that someone completed any of these areas unlocked a new one. I'd hate to go to the monument district just to have it completed right after we get there. The thing is that there is no way most of us are going to make that climb roll unless we can get it down near DC 5.

I realized looking back that it might not have been quite clear, but the things you did in the miner's district, particularly neutralizing the haunt, contributed to it being claimed. So it's not that other tables swooped in before you could get anything done. (I don't know if anyone felt that way, but I do find that the whole success/advancement mechanic is a little opaque when we do it behind the scenes in pbp.)

Also, we have an aid token again! Let me know when/how you want to use it. Or if you don't think you need it, we can also pass it along unused at any time. Two more tokens have just been distributed from the supplies being found, so there are more in circulation now.
