I took over a pbp game after the GM disappeared, and it has now finished. Could we get this campaign flagged as inactive please?
Survivor's Salvation
The PbP Outpost convention is scheduled to begin on March 11, 2019. For now, if you've signed up for this game you can ninja-dot here.
Just now when I tried to make a post I was sent to the Paizo golem error screen ("You’ve reached this page due to an error on paizo.com. The web team has been notified and are working to fix the issue.") That itself wasn't a big deal, but while I was there I noticed that it's still linking to the playtest surveys. Clicking on them just takes me to the "This survey is closed" message on surveymonkey. You probably want to swap out the error message so people aren't being directed there any more.
Greetings! Do come on in, post and delete in gameplay, and make yourselves at home here in the discussion thread. We should be getting ready to start on January 14th. The players I expect from the sign up sheet are: * dinketry - Lesath (Rogue + UE)
I'll have some more instructions as we get closer to the start, but let me know if you have any questions before that, or if any of you have not done the play-by-post format of PACG before so I can help you get started.
Survivor's Salvation
Welcome to my table for the Retrocon multi-table special Legacy of the Stonelords! We're scheduled to start on January 14th, so it's still over a month away, but for big specials like this it's always good to start early and get your... tengus in a row. This is a classic (non-core) table for levels 3-4. Your characters will be busy from January 14 through March 8, so make sure they'll be free for that time frame. If you need to change which character you will bring, you can still do that up until just before we begin. All that being said, if you do know which character will be joining us, please fill out the following info: Player name
Also make sure your alias has up-to-date character sheet info, and let me know if you have any special abilities that I should be aware of up front.
Hello, and welcome to the Season of Faction's Favor! Here in the discussion thread you can talk about the game, ask questions, or just chat amongst yourselves. First off, I'd like each of my players to check in here by saying just a little about yourself. Are you familiar with
It's fine if any of those answers are no, but it will help me know how much explanation will be needed as we get ready to kick off on July 9th. You can also take a look at the instruction guide for players, located here. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
This is the gameplay thread for our game of the Season of Faction's Favor, as part of the Cards Against Gnomanity event to begin on July 9th. We will talk about getting started in the Discussion thread, and the game itself will take place here in gameplay. For now you can make a post here and delete it, which will save this game to your Campaigns page.

The street is blocked by a dense fog bank for now, but the way is slowly clearing... You can dot and delete here to save the campaign.
I plan to run Rose Street Revenge, the series of four level 1 Pathfinder Playtest quests, for PbP Gameday VII, to begin on August 13th. A caveat on the schedule: I will be unavailable from late September through mid-October. I suspect that there will be enough time to complete the quests before then, but if not we will have to take an extended break, and then wrap up during the second half of the gameday. I don't know exactly how the new rules will play out in the play-by-post format, so it's hard to predict how it will go. Please only sign up if you'd be ok with either outcome. That being said, I look forward to trying out the playtest rules with some folks! Post your interest and I'll pick six people in the next few days to a week, depending on how many I get.
While I was catching up on Know Direction’s seminar coverage of PaizoCon, I discovered that their podcast episode recorded at the convention featured Mike Selinker as guest. He talked a bit about the changes they’re working on for the PACG, the upcoming Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure, designing the harrow deck, and a few other things. Also vinegar drinking soda for some reason? I thought it was pretty interesting. Here’s the link for anyone who wants to give it a listen:

You may check in here. I'd like to know two things from each of you: 1) When will you be able to start? I'm not quite ready to begin just yet, but let me know if you have any time constraints like waiting for another game to end, etc. 2) If you already know which character you'd like to bring, please fill in this info. Player Name/Alias:
In starship combat, can the captain use the 'aid another' form of the Encourage action to buff a gunner? CRB wrote: You can encourage another member of the crew to give her a bonus to her action. This works like aid another, granting a +2 bonus to the check required by a crew action if you succeed at a DC 10 check using the same skill. My guess is they would make a check with their own BAB/piloting ranks + Dex modifier, but technically that's not a skill check.

Welcome to the gameplay thread. Your guide to the dataphiles will be with you shortly.
I find this section of the kasatha description very interesting from a roleplay perspective: Quote: Each kasatha follows a unique set of traditions, combining common rituals with new ones she creates. She gains more and more traditions over a lifetime, so that the oldest kasathas spend much of their time honoring the past. I like the idea of a character gradually building up a set of personal rituals and traditions based on what they’ve experienced. Unfortunately, my creativity has been failing me and I haven’t been able to come up with many good ideas. Has anyone been playing out this aspect of the kasatha race, and have interesting stories to share?
Since my first character is almost at tier 1 with the Wayfinders, I took another look at the boons that will be available to her soon. The Worldwide Explorer boon talks about playing "in a region with a different Regional Venture-Coordinator than your home region." I don't know if there's a technical definition of 'home region', but my guess is that it's tied to your permanent address. Now that the Online region has its own Venture-Coordinator, technically it would seem to apply for this boon. I assume that it wasn't meant to, since that's the purview of the Dataphiles boon. Is that a good assumption? In my case, I've only ever played SFS online, so that actually feels like my real home region, and the day I sit down and play with people face to face would be pretty outside my comfort zone. That doesn't sound in keeping with the spirit of the Wayfinders either though. tl;dr Should the online region be excluded from the Wayfinders' Worldwide Explorer boon?
I'm looking at this line about crew actions in starship combat:
Core Rulebook wrote: Class features and items affect crew actions only if specifically noted in the class feature or item. That sentence is dropped in the middle of a paragraph as if this should be a simple rule, but I'm not at all confident I have a grasp on how to apply it. Some specific things I've wondered about: * The +3 bonus for having a rank in a class skill: I don't think this is actually a "class feature" and would seem silly not to apply
Any help would be appreciated. - A confused ensign
I know telepathy has been around for a while in Pathfinder, but I never had to deal with it personally. Now that two major PC races have it as an ability it seems like it will be much more important. The ability on the races reads like this: Quote: Lashuntas/Shirrens can mentally communicate with any creatures within 30 feet with whom they share a language. Conversing telepathically with multiple creatures simultaneously is just as difficult as listening to multiple people speaking. I'm wondering what to do with that last sentence. Exactly how difficult are we talking? Would it mean that most of the time people have silent one-on-one conversations that nobody could eavesdrop on or join in with? Is it possible to 'broadcast' something to everybody within 30 feet (say, to your entire party) without opening yourself to everybody's mental responses? Does it make any difference if the people you're talking to can use telepathy themselves? The lashuntas at least could just speak aloud if they want to, but the shirren description says they speak audibly only for formal occasions. How would that work for a teacher leading a classroom, or a group of teenagers standing around gossiping in a group? Do they just get used to that kind of mental toll? I'm just throwing out questions here, as I try to figure out for myself how to handle it practically. |
