Hey everyone,
I live in the Downers Grove area of Illinois, and was trying to gauge interest in starting a group up. I'm more of a player than a DM, but am willing to help get things started if someone wants to run a (preferably homebrew) Pathfinder OR D&D campaign. Basically, I could use a DM and 3-4 other players.
There are a lot of places we could meet at to play where I live, especially restaurants. I'm most available on Saturdays (all day), but Tuesday evenings could work as well.
I'm most reachable by email: Connor_McGinnis@aol.com, but feel free to post on this thread if you'd rather do that.
As I said, this is just to gauge interest. If nothing comes of it, that's fine. Thanks guys.

You all find your way to The Wet Dog, one of a couple of inns around the small town, over the course of the evening. Many tables of different size and shape stand haphazardly around the large ground floor leading to the bar/front desk. I trust you'll want to meet each other through character interaction now. I'll describe more scenery and characters as they become relevant.

Feel free to discuss things among your characters, if I said you where locked in, here. The setting can be an inn for right now, but please be vague until we really get the campaign thread up and running.

Here's an entirely homebrewed campaign where YOU, as adventurers, decide the course of action. A scenario will be put forth, and you'll go from there. This is really based largely on backstories (mandatory) and character alignments. The more descriptive the backstories, the more open the campaign! Sure there will be some things not based on them, but a good amount of it will be to get the game rolling.

Figured i'd open a discussion thread in case you guys wanted to talk group strategy. I'll give a list of big happenings right now.

There has been a slight suggestion that there is tension between the North and South ends. What could it be over? How bad is it? Who's involved?
Daxle (Gate Guard) seems the most agitated of those who you've just met. The Gate Captain dismissed his actions, but could his manner mean more?

Characters so far:
Daxle - Agitated guard of South's main gate
Penn - Confident Captain of South's Gate Guard
Older Guard - Likely 2nd in command under Penn
Scribe Guard - Seems to be lowest ranking of guards you saw
Innkeeper - A jolly soul who owns most well known establishment in South

I may keep a running list here, just so you don't get confused with all the characters that will be thrown at you.

Welcome to the five of you who where able too join the campaign!
Before I give a description of the terrain, I would like to know from which direction you intend to approach Solsun. North end or South end? Majority rules.

The ancient megacity of Solsun (modeled somewhat after Neverwinter), is a city in turmoil. On the outside it is a city with few civilians who haven't fled because of the recent problems affecting it's interior one after the other. On the inside it is a network of grudges and conflict threatening to split the city into North and South Districts. Veterans of war side with either of two Kings.

If some common ground isn't reached, what was once one of the greatest cities in the world will never be the same...

You find yourselves at the entrance of a dark tunnel, large and wide, but that may not be a good thing. Too may ways for the goblin tribes you are after to set up a flank. What are you using as a light source and what is your marching order. The tunnel is 15 feet wide, allowing for 3 of you to walk abreast with no worries.

Dark Skies, flashes of lightning, the inconsistent booming and clapping of thunder, and unyielding rain herald the meeting of a small band of pirates (the PCs) from various areas of the world.
Shadows and the flicker of candles line the walls of the small inn you've all just recently arrived in. The bartender eyes the colorful group suspiciously, unhappy to be serving potential scourges of the sea.
You all sit around an oaken circular table, mugs of the drink of your choice at your breasts and light meals accompanying them, that the man that brought you all together had provided.
He slowly sits and props his feet on the table, taking a draft of his ale before regarding you all with a stare, judging you equally and without expression. As his cutlass clacks against the side of his chair, he puts a hand to it to stop the pendulum motion, then speaks slowly and quietly.
"Feller' men of various backgrounds and occupations, I ask ye' not ta' join me wth any pressure. Do what ye' will. What be yer decisions?"

Sovereign Court

Hi Everyone: Looking for 3-4 players for a pirate campaign with a lot of role playing, a lot of skill check and saves, and a fair amount of high seas adventure/naval warfare.

I'll be taking the first 3-4 characters who have their full stats posted here. After the 3-4th person, stop posting. You'll not be accepted and i'm not running a 2nd group.

Classes allowed: Anything non-magical. If it ultimately gains magic at higher levels ignore the magic it would typically gain
Races: Human, Half-Orc, Half-Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome, Elf, Gillman, Goblin, Kobold
Starting gp: 150
Starting lv: 2
2 traits
All characters will have weapon proficiency firearms for free
All characters will have weapon focus with a weapon of your choice for free
2 posts per day maximum. If you exceed that you're going to have a very crabby gm, because i'll have to read all that.

DO NOT: Give your character unbelievable backstory or abilities not for your race or class
Give any NPCs backstories OR personalities - my job
Make anyone other than yourself talk - my job
Do anything that would provoke a sincere alignment shift

Above all have fun, and I hope you'll enjoy the campaign.

You find yourselves sitting comfortably around a large circular oak table, drinking the finest the inn has to offer in the portside town of Dublin. The aging innkeeper and his wife had let you all sleep here until you where to venture off to the "haunted" woods not far from here.

The inn is a two-story affair with the 2nd being a place for rooms and the 1st a tavern. The young bartender served drinks behind a high oak bar table. Along it sat stools on which where various kinds of bargoers. Otherwise there where a few booths and tables like the one you where sitting at.

A couple of young serving girls kept your mugs filled with your preferred drinks while you discussed your life stories and reasons for taking up the same job. Now was a time to get to know each other, for it was likely that you would be stuck together for quite some time. After leaving the safety of the town it would be your weapons and survival skills that made all the difference, and a big part of surviving is knowing your allies and how to work effectively with them.

(Please role play your characters using their personalities as good as possible as you introduce yourselves and strike up conversation.

Hi all! Posting to see if anyone is interested in a nice slow homebrew. Here's the low-down
Welcome to the jungle: You are a group of heroes assigned to protect an excavation crew as they begin to open a new village in a remote jungle most have declared to be haunted. "A living hell" was one name for it. A "place of plague" another. What the real motive behind the building of the town in a completely obscure part of the world is unknown. It's time to find out weather there's any truth to these "ghost stories". Are you up for the job?

Character building: Classes are: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Gunslinger, Ninja, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Spell-less Ranger, Sorcerer, and Wizard (found in core rulebook, ultimate combat, and online)
Races allowed are: Human, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, Tiefling, and Aasimar
20 pt buy
150 starting gp
2 traits
You all gain weapon focus as a free feat for any one weapon of your choice.
You begin play at level one but will grow in level over time.
There is no one true end to the adventure, so you can do side things and such as much as you want, though there are key points that you should tackle so the campaign doesn't come totally off track.
I'm looking at one or two posts a day, with the exception of Friday and the weekends. post if you can during that time, but I don't check as much then. The last thing I want to do is come back Monday and find I have a gazillion posts to get up to date with.
I'm taking in 4-6 players, preferably 4 or 5. If enough people respond though, I may make a 2nd group, but I WILL NOT MAKE A THIRD GROUP. It's too much to deal with.
Thanks.

Better keep your graph paper handy. You're going to need it.

After defending the seaside village of Selsey from a Goblin raid, in which you all met, you are now in Lachtopher Inn, conversing over mugs of ale. It is a surprisingly large 3-story building. The owner and bartender, Lachtopher himself, is behind the front counter. He is an older man, a retired knight with a receeding white hairline and milky brown eyes.

Various characters, shady, happy, and openly drunk, fill the ground floor.

The room is 12 squares long by 10 wide. Where are you at? (ex: A1, B12, G7) What do you do or say?

Sovereign Court

Many killings have been reported all around a peaceful riverside town.
Citizens have seen hooded and cloaked figures, and point their fingers at the Ranger corps.
Are they really the ones behind it? If so, who has the power to stop them?
It is up to a group of heroes to find some answers.

The other two groups of this i've tried to run have both turned inactive. I'm looking for people who can handle a post or two per day.

Requirements:
A level 1 Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, or Sorcerer.
Archetypes are allowed, but only from Ultimate Combat.
A 20 point ability buy

Please post if you're interested in playing. Thanks!

Now I have an idea for a campaign, and all I need is a group of willing and active players.
The stage is set in a small riverside town. In this adventure the heroes will experience danger, excitement, thrills, betrayal, and possibly death as the try to find out who is responsible for multiple assassinations throughout the town.

Requirements:
A level 1 Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, or Sorcerer.

Hello! I have never been in a play-by-Post game before, yet would want to try running or playing one. I am totally open to ideas. If you think you can run one fairly well, I can totally hand it over to you. I'm on here at least once a day, and the only time I would not be able to play is when I am camping.

Please post if you are interested in either running or playing one, along with any ideas you might have. Thanks!
