Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Chops points at the legate. "Why don't we just kill him now?"

"Hmph. I don't need to be accepted. I made it this far on my own. Glad to see you though. And her." he stares at Solvistania for a second, then the two strange elorgs. "Eerie," he grunts. "I'll go through next, make sure treachery is not waiting on the other side....well, not immediate treachery. I am sure it's there." With that, Chops boldly steps through the portal on the heels of the brothers.
God I keep looking at Vikturiun's avatar and keep thinking I posted.
"Uh, yeah. Hi again." Chops accepts Gilian's hand and stands. "Were not fighting that guy anymore?" indicating the legate.

Snapping Turtle Clutch vs orc who attacked him: Grapple 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Chops swaps at the sword arm of the orc attacking him, attempting to grab it to break it at the elbow.
I was thinking of the window I came through earlier, but if I can make past the orcs straight for the legate that is fine too.

Chops dives to the side and vaults through the window.

As Sorok retreats to defend the channelers, almost dead orcs in the first line divide their attentions between Duncan and Chops. Their swords mostly miss, but two of them manage to land savage strikes on the defender dworg, while the third somehow slips and falls in the pool of blood, opening himself to Chops' attack. You have AoO against him.

improved Grapple 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

"Huff."
"Huff."
The dworg has been running for nearly half a day. Although he is breathing hard he shows little sign of fatigue. Not so the orc he is trailing. The large brute has froth dripping from his jowls, he half-drags his vardatch. The orc had an hours lead this morning. The dworg has closed in well.
"You gonna quit, orc?" taunts Chops. The orc trips and rolls, dropping his sword. He scrambles a few feet before he is back up and running, vardatch forgotten. Chops skids to a halt at the large sword, bends to pick it up. Takes a few practice swings, taking note of the quality. "Not as good as the Sun-Choppers, but will make a fine end to that ones day." He takes off in a sprint.
At this point, neither the orc nor the dworg have noticed that they have been causing quite a stir since they have entered the borders of the city. The orc, running from a beast that single-handedly took out his squat using hit and run tactics. The dworg, tunnel vision for his prey.
A boy's eyes widen as he tends to the inn which employs to weed around the grounds. He dives out of the way as the orc skids around the corner. The dworg, however, has just leaped atop the railing of an adjacent structure and takes to the air, vardatch high over head as he arcs it down into the orcs chest. The orc goes flying back, through a window and lies on his back as Chops jumps through the window, bringing a knee down onto the beasts neck.
"And this is the ultimate fate of those who feed on the children of the Shadar. You wanted to stuff your face, well I'll oblige you." With that, Chops smashes his knee into the orcs mouth, breaking teeth and jaw. The orc twitches as Chops stands and tosses the vardatch onto the orc in disgust. He wipes some dirty off of his jacket and looks around.
"Holy s&!%, what a coincidence?"
I'm assuming Chops is not part of the sequence yet.
How are we dealing with Chops' absence? I was thinking something gritty that wore away his jovial personality a bit.
I think I am ready. I'll need to double check my numbers and will be playing with the formatting, but Chops is essentially finished.
I just need to grab a couple more feats. What's the rule on feats now? Are the ones in the documents the only ones we can choose from, or are those just the new or changed ones.
Chops isn't ready yet, for combat at least. I imagine there is some story stuff that needed to be done to get him back into the game. I'll work on him this week.
nightflier wrote: Guys, I am finally going on a honeymoon. High Duke has been pestering me incessantly to return to Midnight - and not only him - so I've decided to get back to the game starting October.
In the meantime, I've realized that RL obligations are keeping me from finishing the Feats document, so I'll combine only few (relatively speaking) homebrew feats in one file, and for the rest - we will go back to standard PF feats and skills.
It's either this, or no Midnight at all - so the final decision is yours. The changes to races and classes stay the same. I might tweak them a bit, now that Advanced Races are published, but the core will remain true to the files I've posted before.
You may expect all the info going live on October the 1st, including Speaker for the Dead heroic path for Ragnar.
I will be available for questions for the next 2 days.
Thanks.
I'm totally cool with leaving the feats and skills alone. Have a great trip!
I am assuming archetypes are not being used?
5th level hit points 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
OK sticking with TWF theme. It is too ingrained into his character.
Just want to throw this out here. We've been using this for our home games and really enjoy it. Now we don't worry about trying to get that perfect weapon or stat boosting item.
Cutting down the Xmas tree
nightflier wrote: Right now, the only way for the Defender to take non-Defender weapon and use his ability with it is for him to be Dworg or Orc and to have only 2 skill points per level. I think that one of the talents will be the ability to learn how to use non-Defender weapon. I want to multi-class Chops with either barbarian, fighter, or wildlander. I'll wait to see your revamped fighter before ultimately deciding.

nightflier wrote: @Chops and Sky
I have some slight concerns about your characters and similarities between them. Of course, Sky uses light blades and Chops uses hatchets, but I would be happier if you could reach some kind of understanding.
Chops, check out Defensive Blow talent and Disciplines. You could perhaps become a magically-bonded bodyguard for Solvi. I could create a Heroic Path that will be centered around your relationship with her. If you have any ideas, I'll be happy to hear them and work with them. Also, check out the Discipline of Armor. I've envisioned Chops with full-plate on his right arm and armor spike on his left knee, with two choppers in his arms. Totally badass :)
All joking aside, I am thinking how to introduce him in the game and I just realized that he could be one of the pit-fighters in the Shadar blood-sport arenas.
So, think about it. I'm open to all ideas.
I was thinking about dropping the TWF bit and increased his grappling potential. However I finish him, he'll have the axes. I think the Snapping Turtle Style would be fun, especially the Clutch
And him being stuck in fighting pits during his absense is a pretty sweet idea.
Awesome! I'll get to rebuilding Chops larger than life and twice as ugly!
I like the that you have made it modular, kind of like the defender already is. I really like classes that have a lot of choices of paths to take.
If I can put in any requests for what you are doing with the class, would making all of the saves "good" saves be out of line. It makes sense to me that a "defending" class would have that, even at the expense of a different power up you were planning.
Thanks for having me again!
When you finish with the Defender, I'll get to work on converting Chops. What level should he be at.
I'd be interested in returning in some way, but I am totally unclear on the houserules which was part of the reason I stayed out earlier. I didn't have time to learn new rules. I will have time in a couple weeks to adjust, so If you'd have Chops come back, I'd be more than willing.
I'm sorry to here that all this is going on. I hope you get well soon.

If worcmrost wants to take my slot, I'm fine with that. Chops, do you have an IC reason for Chops not travelling with the group? I can update Solvi's BG with what happened in the intervening time. I hope it was not a lover's spat, he he. What Sorok said sounds good. I am sure I am going to want to get back to the game some time in the near future. Maybe Chops was displaced somehow because of a dworgs inherent resistance to magic. He may have arrived on the other side of the continent but received some sort of message spell from Solvi and knows that she is alive and very far away. He'll have to sneak and fight through hordes of Shadow enemies to find her and the group again.

Thanks. I'll try and keep track and if I think I can jump back in I'll let you know.

Has Eric let you know if he is coming back as Solvi? I figure it might be important to know what happened to her either way for Chops's development. I am thinking it might be interesting to write in a baby somehow.
Also, I seem to remember a problem with the CR system and balancing it to how powerful our characters are. Have you gotten that all straitened out?
Edit: Nevermind about Solvi, I just found the Gamer Connection thread. The though of a dwarf-orc-elf kid sounds kind of cool though.

All the classes and races are modified in some manner. Send me an email for modifications.
All of you will get a unique heroic path, tailored to your character.
Is the new heroic path going to be similar to the one we already have? This will affect my decision on character class.
I'm interested. I'll have to check out the Kirthfinder feats though.
How much UC, AM, and APG stuff are you allowing? Do you want us to tear down and rebuild our characters from scratching, but keeping the themes and powers acquired through bones and aboliths?
Edit: Where are those feats? The link that I have is broken.
I totally understand. I had to close the game I am DMing myself recently. Good luck with the new game.
"Hi Troz, sure. Show me my chambers. Is there a bath?" Then he winks at Solvistania. "And if you don't mind, you can show her my chambers too. Solvi? And do you have any place wear a dworg could get some wine?"
