Thank you for your specific call outs for different types of witches. I've just begun playing Kingmaker with a Resentment witch whose background has draconic symbiology, and I found the info about the Fairie dragon's breath weapon enlightening. I do find the Dragon Trait disappointing as well. It could have included a limited use breath weapon or senses, or something! As for the Wand of Pampered Pet *sigh* Take My Money!
It has always bothered me that you can't ready a 2 action spell in 2e. How am I supposed to cauterize that Hydra neck stump with a Produce Flame spell after the Fighter lops the head off? Therefore I propose a new Ready option that allows you to spend 3 actions on your initiative in order to ready something that takes 2 actions like a spell or Double Slice for example. Anybody see any problems or unforeseen consequences to this?

"Fair enough. You lads want to walk about with an unknown enchanted item, feel free. I'm sure it will work out fine. Of course if I noticed it this easy, so will others. Others who might not be so scrupulous as we. But nay, keep your item of power, which you didn't know you had. I'm sure no one else will try to take it from you."

Clancy will cast Expeditious Retreat and move to the top of, but still inside, the stairs. "Pitter Patter, lets get at er!"
BumBum will continue to berate the door.

If my first shot dropped Green I would have fired the second at Red. I will start including secondary targets from here on out. My goal is to clear the evil outsider mooks so you hitters can take out the boss.
Snatching up the jars of pickles BumBum will exclaim:
BumBum will open a jar and stuff his face. Mumbling around the pickles he will say: "What you say Didy? Oh yeah's the door. OK's I's coming." Stowing the jar he will pull out his bow again and check the door and open it when everybody is ready.
BumBum approaches PonyPool "So you's do have some pickles left? I tell's you, this whole thing go sour, I's saving you first. SOUR! HA!" Then BumBum will give the Professor a big hug and say "You's not wory about us TOO's much Professor. Maybe just a little, but if we's come back we put on a straw crowd kinda show, you betcha!" He will then lean in close on the hug, his lip trembling. "I's kinda scared. this like big time problem. Something for Big Damn Heros, not simple artist folks like us. I hope's we are up to it." Finally, upon meeting Nellyn "I need to make's a confession. I broke one of your windows." He chokes up a bit. "It, it, it...was kinda busted already, but I had to shoot the demon real quick, and them the demon broke another window, and I'm sorry about your windows. They was real pretty" He will recover somewhat. "Thank you for the good supplies, we put's em to good use. I hope's you will look after our troupe while's we are gone. They good folk, and would look after you and your folk right back." BumBum will then place his new wraps around the base of his tail and show them off. "Thank you Didy, for the loan. I's sorry I snap at you. I just getting scared. This serious stuff we getting into, and I's worried about these townies. Thay don't seem to smart I tell's you" He will then look at the to everyone present and raise a pickle. "For the Thunder, our friend Myron!"
In the digitization blog thread there is discussion of the one minion rule (OMR), limiting players to having one minion. I have questions about that. What if you are a Leaf Order Druid with Order Explorer (Animal Order)? Does the OMR mean I can't have a companion and a familiar even though those feats and orders seem to be intended for just that? What about summoned creatures and figurines of wondrous power? They both have the minion trait. Does that mean, by the OMR, that PCs with familiars or companions can't cast summon spells or activate the figurines? I have little doubt that I don't know all the details, but it seems this was not thought out.
"I's BumBum, who is you?" BumBum will look quizzical for a moment as he thinks. "OHh's, you must be priest here, we's looking for you! someone tell's us you got monsters in you's graveyard. They was right. But all monsters is dead now I hope! and you's safe. I'm sorry monsters broke your window and ate your gravediggers. You's OK? Need some help? Maybe a pickle? Is there really a plague? Gut demon said there was plague, but I think's it was lying. Why this town so messed up? We been here like two days and fight's over a dozen monsters. You guys should move somewhere else. How do you move a church? Abadar magic? I bet it's heavy, all full's of gold. All that gold buy ALOT of pickles. Pickle's much lighter than gold too. Hey's maybe you should start a PICKLE church! Be much lighter and easier to move..." BumBum will continue with his verbal barrage until interrupted, as he does when nervous, excited, or seen when sneaking. Once interrupted "So I's BumBum. Who is you?"
"Are you's guys evil types doing bad stuffs here in Abberton? If you is you have to tell me, Mayor said so. And if you not, why you so mottled blue and oily. Never seen anyone like that, and I seen's lots of people. OHH's, you guys want to see my new wings? BumBum will pull out the dead Quasit and show it to them from his current position.
"HaHa, you fell for it Didy! I ain't lootin' no's church of Abadar. They's come after you for that I bet, with that compoundering interest and such. No thanks!" BumBum will go into the church looking for the body of the Quasit. He wants to study it and see how it moves for his act. Imp/Quasit, BumBum doesn't really know the difference. However,if he can learn how the make the wings on his costume more realistic, he's very curious. "OOh, look's. It's bendy in so many places!"
BumBum would have drawn his shortbow and fired a few shots for nonlethal at one range increment if he can. sbow: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 20 NL: 1d6 ⇒ 4
The he would head back in to recover his drumstick muttering.
Upon getting back up there:'Hey Didy, what's that? Sure, I'll try's it. Let's take a look first"
"That's got it. let's see what's in here. I hope's its not more sand poop." Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 "Don't know what that is."
"I's go look about, see's what I can find. Get some apples for PontyPool while's I'm at it." BumBum will pull out a sack from his pack and begin collecting apples while singing: "Kill the piggies, make them squeal
While he is at it he will Search the area perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
mrspaghetti said wrote: "You are probably thinking of PF1, it worked differently in that edition." (Grognard moment) Thinking back a lot longer than that ;) I think the concept of "harm" is the problem here. Is doing non lethal "harm"? If I command a summoned creature to do a trip action is it "harm"? If I make my allies better at harming you is it "harm"? If I cast a sustained area effect spell that an enemy walks into on his turn have I done "harm" on his turn? I see this as widely open to interpretation, and I think it deserves clarification or there will be significant table variation.
If sustaining a flaming sphere is a hostile action that would break invisibility, then would sustaining a summoned creature that attacks also break invisibility? The conjurer who summons from invisibility is a long standing tactic. What about using an action to order an animal companion or familiar to attack? Or inspire courage? In this case I feel we must think about all sustained actions that could be considered hostile.
BumBum will approach Stone's fire, pointedly ignoring it. "Hello everybodys. OOhs that stew smell like good grub. Enough to share? Not so many pickles today before show. I’s tell a story ‘bout Myrion if you’s want. One day I was feelin’ blue, but I kept finding pickles stuck on my tail. Find pickle, eat pickle. Pickle tastes sweet. Then look again, find another pickle, and another, and another” This will all be accompanied by some comedic pratfalls and the like.perform:comedy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 too soon ”Not ‘till costume changey time did I see so many pickles stuck to inside of my big clown pants with syrup. Myrion funny guy.” He smiles, then sighs ”He was good man. Ohs yeah, anybody seen Axel? He done scarpered off. He got his kit ‘round here?”
BumBum’s big Story! BumBum just tiny tailed whelp when Mistress Dusklight of Celestial Menagerie traded handful of tickets and access to circus trash to goblin tribe for BumBum. BumBum so young he not even have name yet. Then BumBum have to go with mean Mistress Dusklight. She bad gaffer! She want BumBum to clean donnikers and eat trash, but BumBum hate that. BumBum watch clowns instead. They so funny! Mistress always yell “Get back to work you bummer!”, but BumBum always sneak away to watch clowns again. One day BumBum find old finked drum and fix it up. Then BumBum follow clowns around with drum and play what they call “rimshots”. Clowns so nice they give BumBum name! When friends tell BumBum they scarper off Celestial Menagerie for new circus, BumBum jump at chance (out of moving gilly wagon)! Now BumBum artist with the Circus of Wayward Wonders. Not just clown knockabout act either. Now BumBum do Sway Pole as Aerial Imp, and fly through air! BumBum good at other circus stuff too. Mend fink in backyard, do slap, climb up and set rigging, and super good advance. Put up all the paper and only eat a little paste. BumBum so happy to be in Circus of Wayward Wonders. Someday we be playing for straw houses!
Nobody in my region has the time to keep up with all the updates. That is why we have abandoned the playtest. No gm feels confident enough in his knowledge to run it. I think we need to put on the brakes and give folks a chance to catch up. Right now it feels like a runaway train that we bought a ticket for (the original playtest document) that is now taking us to an unknown station. I feel overwhelmed by the bi-weekly changes, and its making me doubt the quality of the end product. Does anyone else feel this way? I love Pathfinder and PFS dearly, but i am despairing for its future!
I like this idea as well. Along with the reasons mentioned above, it could simplify bookkeeping as well. Nice round numbers that could make it easy to know how much wealth a character should have. Big fan of your idea Pirate Rob, I hope this winds up being another fine contribution from you. Might be better than what you did to Bahb's paladin. Might.
My main concern lies in characters and npcs having different build rules. I have had a tough time getting my head around it in Starfinder, and don't want to see it in Pathfinders. Often times an enemy can become a friend or vise versa. I want all the beings in my RPG world to be built using the same rules.
Ran this for the first time today, completely cold. We did the race in abstract and everyone enjoyed it. I'm sure I missed some mechanic details, but it seemed to come down to fail Piloting for half speed or succeed for full speed. With Iseph the Android Operative remote piloting at +11 the party succeeded easily at the DC 14 check (4 player) and won handily. He didn't miss a check even after being shot.
... of where, oh where could they be? Here's the jist. I'm keen to score my fourth star, but I have been sitting in the low 90s for several months. In the meantime I have run enough tables to push me up to 100 but they are not showing up on that tab. They show up on my GM Sessions tab, and are credited to my characters, but not to my stars. Can anyone give me a clue what might be going on? Thank you. |
