He then examines the goggles Al points out.

I will put the goggles to good use and try to check for tracks of any additional enemies pssing through the area recently.

It's hard to say based on the tracks (looks like you need Master survival proficiency to track on stone) but based on smell alone Didy is pretty sure there are more ghouls to the northwest.
Rounding the corner, BumBum sees two more ghouls in a chamber about 25' across. The ghouls are snarling and ready for combat.

I have a theory that there was a schism in this church Gozreh, and these ghouls are the losers who got shut in down here and resorted to cannibalism.

Al takes shelter down the side path, then clicks her tongue a few times to get the attention of Ambrosius. As he leans his head forward she pets his neck gently as she whispers a primal incantation causing the dinosaur's teeth to elongate and glisten with magical energy.

"I's not know Kvothe, but I maybe have idea. I's thinking maybe not all the Gozreh types wanted to kill the folks of Abberton. and the ones who did locked the one's who did not down in these crypts. From what Didy said maybe them locked up folks started eating the deads or each other and turned into these Ghoulies, and that one was the leader. All I know's for sure is that one smelled worse than Poffo after chili night."
He then looks down at the bite wound on his arm.

Al casts detect magic and scans the area for valuables. She prestidigitates the hell out of anything on the ghouls though before she touches it.

Didymus isn't sure.
The creature carried a composite longbow. Additionally, a pile of shiny objects near the statue, likely looted from the dead, contains 20 silver pieces, a jade-and-silver necklace worth 20 gold, a coral statuette of a dolphin with emerald eyes worth 40 gold, and a bolt that detects as magical. Additionally, the metal trident on the statue here can be removed, and is magical.

This magnificent gallery glows with light from magical spheres set into eight twisting pillars that stretch from the floor to the ceiling twenty feet above. That ceiling depicts a cloudy, storm-tossed sky with remarkable realism, the floor is covered with mosaic tiles that portray the depths of the ocean, complete with coral reefs, seaweed beds, and schools of fish. Corridors lead away from the gallery to the north and south, and the hall ends in a massive bronze double door sculpted in a fantastic diorama of animals of all kinds; fish swimming in the sea, beasts walking the earth, and birds soaring in the sky.
A woman stands here, in a thick brown cloak, carrying a trident. She has a vial of something in her left hand. Before her is a vermlek, in its natural form, purple skin standing out drastically from the natural tones of the floor tiles.

He raises his bown and looses two arrows in rapid succession, while he gives a sharp click with his tongue at his raptor. Ambrosius takes the signal and chases the arrows to their target.
