Paizo at Gen Con 2022

Friday, February 11, 2022

With the Gen Con housing block opening on Sunday, we wanted to make sure Pathfinder and Starfinder players knew what was happening at the Best Four Days in Gaming so you could make your plans for the show!

Paizo will be attending the Gen Con 2022 game convention from August 4–7 in Indianapolis. You’ll see the Paizo booth in the exhibit hall and the return of Organized Play to the Sagamore Ballroom. Organized Play will have a slightly smaller number of tables than in prior years, so we encourage you to sign up for events early to claim your spot.

For those unable to make the trek to Gen Con, Paizo will also host a suite of online events and seminars. This year’s Pathfinder interactive special will premiere simultaneously at the physical event and Gen Con Online.

We’ll release additional details in the coming months. Stay tuned!

For those waiting on the details of PaizoCon 2022, we should have news to share next week! We appreciate your patience as we nail down some final details; we had to get this one out before the room lottery opened up this weekend.

See you all in Indianapolis, can’t wait!

Good to hear there'll still be online shenanigans! Would love to go to gen con but alas the Atlantic ocean is vast and I do not have sailing lore.

Excited to see what will be revealed this year!

So happy to read this awesome news! I am ready to fill out the form to volunteer to run Pathfinder 2e at Gen Con in Indianapolis again! I love going to Gen Con and meeting so many of my fellow players and GMs.

Let's get this party started!

I appreciate the special premiering simultaneously at both the physical event and online component. Thank you!

Very happy to hear thus. Super excited Paizo will be in person again. Can't wait for the GM volunteer request.

Thanks for the update Alex! I am very glad to see an online option for the special for those of us that are still prevented from going in person due to compromised immune systems. I am hoping a miracle occurs and I can go anyway, but not holding my breath.

For those concerned, here is Gencon's health and safety requirements.

Aka proof of vaccinations and actual masks are required ^w^

Hybrid on-site and online activities are the way of the future, even beyond the pandemics. Good job.

I am also very happy to hear that there will an online component for those of us that can't make it. Thank you!

Is Paizo coming to the UK for the UK Games Expo this year?

Oh, I love the continued online format! Thanks Paizo!

I'm sure looking forward to Gen Con Online. Even if it means more 4am game starts.

Typical Gen Con. All the hotels downtown are sold out less than two hours into their staggered lottery. Very disappointing.

Awesome news...

And Twilight, yeah. 3:03pm... I may have gotten the last room in the block as I had only one choice.

And that hotel is 12 miles away! lol

Gen Con has posted a "sold out" notice to the hotel portal, but if you keep looking (refresh) at it over time, numerous options are popping up periodically. They don't seem to stick around very long and they aren't within walking distance, but if you want to go, there are options. A lot depends on when you want to arrive and leave. Good luck!

Any idea when the call for HQ and GM volunteers will go out?

Removed a duplicate post and one breaking our profantiy guidelines. We are working on the questions in the thread re UKGE and GM Call for Vol and should have more information on both of these shortly.

Good advice! I was able to snag a room at the Sheraton (4 blocks away) this afternoon. Big change from being 12 miles away.

Blind luck i know.

Well, another year another missed F2F at Gen Con. But I am very happy that there is going to be an Online component to this year's gaming!!! I thank you very much.
Now I just have to get my act together and grab some slots before they all go away!

I'm really disheartened that the Saturday night Special is so limited. I couldn't get a ticket, and I look forward to this every year. Any chance that it will be expanded?

We would be delighted to do so if we get more GMs! Right now they are scheduled based entirely on how many GMs we have for each tier; we have no room for expansion without additional volunteers.

Count me as another who hopes to see you are able to get some more GMs/expand the tables (specifically for tiers 1-2).

This is my first year returning to Gen Con since 2019 and was an annual player to the Saturday special (or multiple night specials when that happened) and this is the first time I also wasn't able to get a ticket.

I fortunately was able to pick one up yesterday during the day in keeping watch as someone apparently returned one, but do need another one for a friend of mine.

Also, wasn't able to get into any of the normal PFS events, as well, which is very much out of the ordinary compared to prior years. Do you have less GMs/tables this year overall?
