The Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Computer Game is Available Now!

The Worldwound. A cursed land that threatens all life. Not a wasteland, or the site of a natural disaster, but an abscess through which the mortal world bleeds into the Abyss. One hundred years ago, this realm teemed with life. Gardens flourished and cities thrived here, but now death reigns over all.

There are no “common folk” here—only those who are willing to risk everything to defend the world against the endless hunger of the Abyss. Or... to win glory. To answer the call of forbidden knowledge. To rise above the fate prescribed to mortals.

And you? What has brought you here? Are you ready to fight? Are you ready to lead? Are you ready to ascend? And if you're ready—which path will you choose?

How will your power manifest? Will it breathe new life into the corrupted lands, or kill them off for good? Will you be a beacon of light in the darkness, or an island of chaos and madness?

Who will follow you? Saints or sinners? Mortals or beings from other planes of existence?

Who will you become for them? A commander? A prophet? A friend? Something more? Or will mortal pawns and their feelings no longer interest you at all?

Only you can answer these questions. Only you can decide which path to take. The choice is yours, crusader.

Been waiting for awhile and reviews are saying it’s leaps and bounds above the kindmaker release in terms of stability. Can’t wait

This is huge for Paizo and pathfinder. Reviews are coming in great and the player count is fantastic. Very good exposure to the brand.

I know this is probably not the place to bring this up but getting no response from Owlcat Games.

Anyone else having problems getting onto their website to get the KS key for download? Been trying for 4 days now and I keep getting a message that my password is wrong but I'm not getting any reset email no matter how I try.

Been trying to reach them on their webpage, KS messages and even FB with no response.

Based on the messages on KS and FB I'm not the only one having this issue. Just checking to see if anyone has actually gotten a response from them.

I created my OwlCat account years ago, so I may not be the target of the issue. I logged in and got my steam key fine on Monday and pre downloaded.

Good luck, sounds like you are doing what you should be doing by contacting their support directly.

Put in about 2 hours last night. Spent an hour customizing my character. Importing my Darago avatar and getting my game started.

Dialogue is epic. Characters are based off of 1e with extras.

Man, I am enjoying what I am seeing so far. Can't wait to get deeper into the story. Wrath is a path I've always been interested in but I joined the Pathfinder Community well after its release. This is a great way to experience it for the first time :D

Those first 10 minutes are INTENSE!

No problem here. I got my key as soon as they were available and preloaded the game earlier this week.

I hit one of the many day 1 bugs (iGPU issue on a laptop) so I have to wait a few more days for a patch to play. Character creation is mostly fun, few races freeze the system, but I can't WAIT to play my divine hunter with her pet Triceratops....

This game is amazing, so glad I backed the kickstarter!!

They have a both a contact-staff channel with a ticketing tool in it and a backer-portal-issues channel on their discord. Have you tried either of those?

Did not think it'd be out this quick! Wonder how the mythic portions are handled vs. table top...

Been waiting 3 days now as I am one of the ones who has the make a new character, then gets stuck on the 92% loading screen, tried everything that worked for some, but still no luck and many bug reports.

Man I hope they patch this issue ASAP, very rough going compared to my experience with Kingmaker I have to say :(

I guess they will be quick to address the issues, in the past they were. But honestly, Kingmaker also had serious issues during its first months, it needed a while to become a real gem.

IMO Owlcat tries to achieve too much at the initial release. They might be better off saving some content, mechanics and technology for patches and addons.

I haven't played WotR all too much over the weekend, but during that time I didn't have any issues.

I like the story and visuals so far, the voice acting is great.

Sadly on my computer at least, the game is breaking right after the first book, no matter which character I'm playing through with. :(

Yep, waited 5 days and various posts on various platforms and finally got a sticky in the Steam forum about the 92% loading issue.

Located the problem and are working on it but not a small fix so 2 weeks they are estimating for a patch to come and fix it.

King had issues but at least I could start the game day one, but at least they are working on it and I and more than a few others not left in the dark and see some progress in motion.

Seems to be a ton of issues but some seem to have a clean run as well with minor bugs while others not so much......

At least when I get to finally play it in 2 weeks some of the bugs will be patched up.

I'm a bit concerned that many beta testers have posted they flagged a lot of these bugs pre official launch but Owlcat never addressed them.

Time will tell I guess on how well it does.

That is concerning to hear.

I had a minor bug yesterday that in a 'cutscene' there was no speech displayed on screen, I remember that in Beta that text was displayed.

Not gamebreaking, you can interpret the gestures the NPC's make to indicate the missing text, but a bug nonetheless. And hard to report, if you don't know that the text is missing.

so far no game breaking bugs, but I noticed some abilities don't stack when they should and during combat metamagic feats sometimes don't work

the loremaster prestige class is also weird, it doesn't advance spellcasting every level, you can't choose other spells, but it lets you choose any advanced rogue talent

the insane difficulty is truly nuts

Maybe this will be a good game after Owlcat fixes their bugs and horrible design decisions, but for right now, I highly recommend you avoid.

Spoilers!:

- The built-in companions are terribly built when you consider how difficult the game is. That's true before you hit the difficulty spike that is the Abyss.

- Bugs everywhere. I picked up a mythic ability that makes me immune to energy drain, and promptly got 4 negative levels in the next encounter. I've had crashes to desktop, graphic glitches, a quest event dialog randomly repeat itself every 1-2 minutes while on a map, and more.

- The Abyss is a nightmare of unfun game design. Rotating the camera to move the landscape is a neat gimmick, but the game engine does not handle it well, and when you have to run back and forth ad nauseam, it gets real old real fast.

- The difficulty in the Abyss takes an absurd spike. One enemy starts the fight with 68 AC, a bunch of spells already cast, around 40 spell resistance, and a caster level of 29 (so DC 40 to dispel). Literally the only way I beat this enemy was to spam Stormbolts with my sorcerer who happened to get lucky with the SR roll AND the enemy rolled a nat 1 on the save.

- Another example of difficulty spike - lilitus. 14 attacks in one round at +43 to hit with each one. If you don't win initiative and kill/control her before she acts, one of your characters WILL die.

- Carnivorous Crystals. Quite possibly the worst enemy in any video game I've ever seen. An aura (that you can't out-range) that forces all characters to roll a DC 38 Fortitude save every round to avoid being stunned for 1 round. The description of the ability says a successful save makes you immune, but it doesn't work that way. Just about every encounter with these is with 2-4 of them, so if you want any characters to act, they have to succeed at multiple DC 38 Fortitude saves to get one turn.

Needs to be an option for a Contingency ability. You can fill it with spells you want to cast(like buffs) and just hit the button to start casting them rather than having to choose each one.

** spoiler omitted **

Bugs are bugs, but I think some of your complaints are unfounded.

Spoilers!:

-Difficulty is modular. Core is not a friendly difficulty. Anything Core or higher you need to scrape the barrel for bonuses constantly, otherwise you should lower the difficulty. The built-in companions are actually generally excellent, especially with Mythic. Only a few are genuinely weak and only till much later. Unless you're using the auto builder in which case...why?

-Rotating the camera is kinda annoying.

-Some fights are optional that you can return to later. Some fights are puzzles to solve. Playful Darkness is one of those. SR 40 is really not that bad because you know from the very beginning of the game that Spell Resistance is going to be a problem in the Evil Outsider campaign. My elf wizard has a +33 Spell Penetration.

-Don't blindly move up to enemies so they can full attack. Let them come to you so you have ample time to control them. Is this your first CRPG?

-Saving makes you immune to that specific Crystal. Eventually you start making saves regularly and can also just outrange them if need be.

Clearly you didn't read my post, and clearly we have very different ideas about what's a puzzle, what's proper default difficulty, and what's good game design. Feel free to make whatever assumptions about me you want.

I rage-quit Kingmaker permanently sometime in Act 4 of that game, but I'm really enjoying Wrath of the Righteous.

I agree that the difficulty settings are kind of misleading (enemies have to be set to "weaker" to even come close to their Pathfinder stats). There are enough settings that I have tweaked the game to where it's fun for me, at least.

The companion writing is decidedly improved, which probably makes the biggest impact of anything in the game. That and turn based mode. I cannot stand RTwP.

Only complaints so far is that Crusade mode sucks and can't be turned off without losing access to stuff (but at least there's difficulty settings and auto-resolve to take care of that...), and the game has too many trash fights.

Also, the crystal enemies have been patched so that you're immune to their aura after a successful save now.

Finished the game after 134 hours. Overall I am quite happy about the game. There are still some annoying bugs, but nothing which can't be managed, like the pause button stopping to work after a few hours (necessitating a reload of the game).

The story vastly expands upon the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path, just like Kingmaker did, making some of the rather flat antagonists more rounded (especially Areelu Vorlesh). The companions range from very good (Arueshalae, Daeran, Ember) to good (Seelah, Nenio and others which were not in my party) to "Eh" (Greybor, mostly).

The gameplay is excellent if you like turn-based combat. The crusade system is pretty okay in my opinion, as a veteran Heroes of Might and Magic player I found it a bit underdeveloped, but fundamentally solid. I managed with one big army, although I changed the general around in the latter part of the game to maximise the leadership XP you need to do one of the quests (the one where you have to maximise all your four crusade stats).

The mythic system feels good. I highly recommend Abundant Spells (all three upgrades) and Enduring Spells (both) to make buffing a thing you do once at the start of a map. I played a bloodrager and was just splatting most enemies in one hit at the end, except the big bosses. I'm planning to do a sorcerer run in the future, although I'll probably wait until all the DLC is out for the game. Three weeks of intensive time investment is no joke.

All in all, I highly recommend the game.

Finished the game, I used mods/guides to skip the boring parts that take too much time, like pointless puzzles and the crusade. Also Enduring spells or using buffbot mods helps a lot.

Now looking at all the endings, the trickster one would be a lot more interesting for Golarion if it were canon, not what it's now in 2e.

Of the companions Aivu, Woljiff and Regill were interesting.

Comparing to the adventure path I liked the first four acts more, but the game at the end seems not fully developed.

The NPCs, Nocticula seemed cooler, they switched Minagho and Jerribeth, I prefer the adventure path's version of Areelu, Galfrey also got worse, and Iomedae should be cut from both.

Nice to see the new posts here:)

I had a couple false starts then now set on this one as my first main playthrough. Game is getting WAY better with the bugs and almost daily patchs, not to many problems myself but I am at the end of act II still and the Drezen battle.

So far I like all my interesting companions, in and out of combat, playing on Core still at the moment.

Hope everyone else here is enjoying this as well for the most part and this is thee perfect AP as the P&P Mythic really killed it for the most part but now we can really experience it and such a great AP except for that mythic thing.

And it was nice to watch in one of the Owlcat streams with Paizo's James Jacobs (Creative Director) and Mark Moreland (Director of Brand Strategy) where james addressed just that and its nice to see he was not to happy PF I's Mythic did not work out, due to various reasons, namely the lack of high level play testing.

Nice to get the old insights to the past james, thanks!!

Yeah, it's funny how much more fun the mythic system is when you are not on the receiving end of it (i.e. are a GM for Wrath of the Righteous). ^^

On my second run now, just arrived in Alushynirra. A third run is already planned for the near or near-near future.

My only worry is that Owlcat will have a problem adapting a non-mythic AP now, since people probably will expect the system to return. Not to mention that reviewers normally give way lower scores if your game doesn't include everything from the last game and significant upgrades.

I do hope OwlCat will adapt more 1E AP's, so many good ones to choose from.

Who knows, maybe we will get a Starfinder or even a PF II game next!!

Still taking it slow and on Act III with my fighter build main run and getting the hang of the full Crucade mini game mode and I have survived so far

:)

And waiting for the 3 DLC's to drop as well

I overally still love the game, but I do feel like there are some changes or missing opportunities I don't dig that much. Like not much of expansion on Sarkoris itself and some parts of Areelu Vorlesh feel kinda like kicking down Sarkoris further and in a way just another cliche, though she is still more interesting than in the AP.

(overally though I don't mind any changes unless someone tries to claim this is definitive version of Wrath's story since no its just different take on it in adaptation)

I took Drezen and kinda stopped a few months ago... I should resume it before the same thing happens to this game that happened in the Kingmaker game (I took a break mid-game to do the Kingmaker DLC, then never finished the main game...)

Having fun with the 2nd DC Day of Ashes, love the twist as no XP for comabt but for getting in and out of situations and keeping NPC's alive. Not for everyone but loving it myself.
