A New Advanced Class Guide!

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Last summer saw the release of the Advanced Class Guide, a mighty tome filled with 10 brand-new classes, and a bevvy of new rules to support them. Many of you probably noticed that the book had a small problem with the cover, using the Adventure Path logo instead of the usual Roleplaying Game logo.

Today, I am happy to announce that this problem, along with a number of other updates and rules clarifications, have been corrected in the newest printing of the Advanced Class Guide! Inside you will find clarifications to a number of classes and archetypes in the book, dispelling some confusion and bringing the power level of some of the classes and archetypes in line with their counterparts. You will also find revisions to a variety of feats, spells, and magic items.

The update document for this book has been up for a couple months now, and I am happy to announce that the newest printing contains all of these changes and you will also find them updated in our online Pathfinder Resource Document! For those of you with a first printing of the book, you can find the update document, noting the big changes that bring it inline with second printing, right here!

Grab your copy today!

Well, you got the filename wrong, PZO1125 is Ultimate Campaign. Advanced Class Guide is PZO1129.

Woo hoo! Looks like I have a book to buy!

Oh, PDF was updated too, on my way to download it...

It seems like a pretty hefty revision. Why don't I send you the copy I dropped 40 bucks on and you can send me one of the new correct ones.

Agreed, Tis a big errata. Does this mean the second print is now on sale?

I don't get why people were mad over the cover mistake, I thought it was funny. Now its like we have collector's items or something.

I think it was the every other thing wrong with it people were upset about, the cover was just the most glaring one.

Edit: That probably sounds more hostile than I meant it to, I'd like to clarify that I do like a lot of what the book has to offer, but the previous version, the one I bought hardcover as soon as I could, was just not really worth the price tag.

I didn't notice the cover error. AT. ALL. But now I have a book that is somewhat obsolete and absolutely no way to afford the revision. Thanks.

Chalk up one more advantage of PDFs!

If I had a laptop computer PDFs might be a viable option. But since I'm not lugging my PC into my living room every game night and I don't like using my Kindle for them much, it's hardbacks for me. And granted, I do prefer hardback books. Maybe the revisions will make it to the SRD or d20PFSRD.

Is the PDF updated as well?

Ask Santa for an el cheapo 10" tablet and you'll be happy like I am. While I keep all my dead tree books, I'm increasingly using the tab for all things needed to run a game.

My Santa came early with new tires for my vehicle.. lol.

PFSRD is pretty good about keeping their stuff updated, it just takes them a week or two to get it all done.

You know there are a bunch of things in this errata that are things like rephrasing how often class features can be used. Going from when this wears off the target is immune to being only targeted once per day. Which I'm sure is what was intended but the way things were worded it makes it seem like you could spam the ability for as long as the creature was still effected. I'm assuming that wasn't the intention hence the errata. When every ability for the class is phrased that way its a lot of changed. I actually printed the errata and just started writing them into my hardcopy while watching tv. There are some sections ill be cutting out and pasting in because they are extensive, but mostly it was line out this word change it to this word. Add this work at the end remove this sentence. I'm not that bothered btu i understand those who are.

If it hasnt been a problem at your table and you arn't playing PFS, I'm thinking it shouldn't be that much of a concern.

What a conundrum! Do I leave it as-is to preserve its "Collector's Value" or paste in the errata to make a less pretty but better functioning rule book?

I think it's time to put a rank into book repair. Would that be Craft: Books or Profession: Bookbinder (or, since it's repair, Profession: Librarian)?

Dark Archive

Yikes I didn't realize just how buggy the first edition was. I could be a lot happier about having to replace this one. I don't use PDFs and printing out the errata is only going to keep me happy for so long. Sigh......

Frankly a book this flawed maybe shouldn't have gone out that way in the first place. I can understand why people are upset, these things aren't cheap.

Talk about misleading title. I was hoping this was an announcement for a book with ten more classes. :P

This errata broke as many things as it fixed, unfortuantely.

There was a cover error? You mean that I should give up waiting for those 50 other hybrid classes? Aw....

I have ignored the errata in general, so I am glad I have the old book.

Yay! No more going back and forth between my ACG pdf and my ACG Errata pdf!

I may get a new copy of the book, or I may just get the PDF, I dunno...

Yep. This is what convinced me to not drop any more money on their hardback rulebooks.

Quite right. I'll be sitting this one out. Might get the third printing though, once they've fixed all the things they broke in the second.

Third printing? Going by the GMG, UC and Bestiary I that's about 3 years out.

That's fine with me. If I replaced all my books every three years, I probably wouldn't be able to afford to eat anyways.
