Welcome aboard, crewmembers!
Please post your token to the box on slide 1. The slides for this session are also linked at the top of the page and in my GM header.
Please let me know, either explicitly in your tag-line header or here in Discussion what your default Exploration Activity is.
Please get signed in on RPGChronicles so I can be sure of the CP and sub-tier.
As per the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards, each player must decide if they will allow their characters to be damaged by friendly fire (usually via splash damage). In keeping with the “Explore, Report, Cooperate” motto of the Pathfinder Society, engaging in non-consensual character-versus-character conflict is prohibited. While accidental friendly fire happens due to missed attack rolls or other factors, players must obtain the consent of other players before deliberately including fellow PCs in damaging effects. This rule does not apply in situations where a character is not acting of their own free will, such as if they’re being mind-controlled by an NPC and forced to attack a fellow Pathfinder.
You may select a consumable item from the Pathfinder Provisions list. These used to be the school items you would get prior to starting an adventure.
For those who know me, I am no longer in Asia for the next few months so my posting hours will be “normal” for those in North America. I usually update at least once or twice per day. Just to keep the game moving, please post at least once every day and at least once during the weekend.
Please keep all posts and communication in all channels limited to a PG-13 level and be both positive and inclusive.
Please label all three of your actions. Even if you think what you are doing is obvious.
If I am unavailable for longer than 24 hours, I will let you know in the Discussion Tab. Out of respect for your fellow players and myself, I ask that you do the same. Real life happens, and real life will always take priority over the game, but out of fairness for your fellow players, please let us know if you will be unavailable for an extended period of time. For instance, I will be attending a several in-person conventions over the summer and taking 2 cruises. I will let you know when I expect to have to slow down for a day or a weekend or so.
Questions, concerns? Feel free to share them in the Discussion tab.
Let's have some fun and tell a great story together! After all, that's what we are here for.

![]() |

While we wait to start, please allow me to lay out the ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency, while keeping the game moving at a pace to ensure we finish in a timely manner.
⚔ Please have a complete character profile here on the Paizo forums, not a link to a pdf or character sheet hosted elsewhere. Please have either full text descriptions of feats, spells, and character abilities or links to the SRD or Nethys so that I and your teammates don’t have to go digging thru source-books or spend time and digital and mental bandwidth when there’s a question.
⚔ Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is. If you’re benefiting from a Level Bump, please update your header tag lines at least. I don’t expect you to update your whole character profile, but at least let me know if you have or haven’t for when I look up skills for secret rolls, etc.
⚔ I roll group initiative and track character actions by block. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted to the extent that it makes sense, as those posting later have the benefit of acting based on what’s come before in the thread.
⚔ You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence as usual.
⚔ If I make a mistake, please let me know, and I will try to make it right. If it’s too far back, too complex to correct, or too minor to matter, we may have to accept it and move on, with the understanding that I will be fair and equitable.
⚔ I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws, flat checks, and reactions. It keeps the game moving, and by reducing my workload it means I may be able to make a quick post when I otherwise wouldn’t have had time.
⚔ If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting. Likewise, I will do my best to update you all if it will be significantly more than 24 hours before my next post.
The name says it all. I’m now a semi-retired cargo airline pilot. I’m still intentionally and happily homeless. I travel 365 and live in hotels and on cruise ships. Some days I’m flying with limited airplane wifi, or the hotel’s wifi is spotty, or I’m at sea and everyone is on the ship’s wifi that day. I do what I can to mitigate these things, and I apologize in advance if it slows things down.
Questions? Just let me know. Let's have fun!

Lastly, please let me know:
Have you played or GMed this scenario before?
Glyphs to share? Extra Hero Points or Campaign Coins?
Anything weird about your character that I or the party should know about? (Trap finding, unusual reactions, void healing, etc.)
And for RP: If your character was marooned on a deserted island by themselves, what would they do to keep their sanity or keep themselves busy? (For no particular reason whatsoever.... hehe)

![]() |

4 glyphs. first time seeing this scenario.

![]() |

4 glyphs as well. First time too for me. Elven/undine cross. Keeping same on a desert island? Either stargazing or swimming being a waterbreather.
And looks like the profile needs updating. Will do so hopefully tomorrow.

![]() |

1 glyph
Never played or GMed
Heroic Intervention (Radiant Oath) boon: When you spend a Hero Point, you and any allies within 30ft who can see you regain 3d6 Hit points. This healing also affects dying allies, even if they cannot see you due to being unconscious.
On a deserted island: meditation of course

![]() |

Looks like I need to update Shayla's statblock...
Ditto on Heroic Intervention...

![]() |

I have 1 glyph.
I am fine with splash damage.
I will hopefully update my character profile tomorrow (he is at level 4 now but will be 5 after tomorrow morning).
I am going camping starting tomorrow until the 27th, so I may be slow on the uptic.
If Ceratophrys was alone on a deserted island, I think he would spend time learning the local flora and fauna with an eye toward making delicious meals out of what was available rather than just subsisting.

![]() |

I have not played this.
Splash damage okay if you think it's a good idea.
Pathfinder Provision... scroll of 4th-rank heal, I think.
If your character was marooned on a deserted island by themselves, what would they do to keep their sanity or keep themselves busy?
Kaz would simply fail to accomplish that. Zak would mostly complain; he enjoys that.
Prize roll?: 1d20 ⇒ 15

![]() |

Door Prize: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Nope. No door for me... I'll just have to make do with my blanket for another year :)

![]() |

Meadow snorts with suppressed laughter. "Ha! I'm not the weird one, that's totally you."
The disagreement continues for some time.
------------------------
Meadow would most likely spend the majority of her time on a deserted island arguing with Silence.
Haven't played or GMed this scenario before.

![]() |

Shayla would be finding ways to separate Meadow from her new door... :)

![]() |

Sorry for the late start, I was at PaizoCon@ KublaCon and then traveling (shocking, I know!)
Looks like we have Shayla, Meadow & Silence, Kaz and Zak, Betel Capella, and Dran'Thul. I still need Meadow to sign in on RPG Chronicles, but we'll be at 19 CP if Meadow is indeed a level 6.
Everyone starts with 2 Hero Points.
So without further ado, let's hit the beaches!

I don't have hyperlinks on my character profile but I do add them when I use an ability. Would that be sufficient or would you rather I go back and add them to my character profile?

Yes, that is perfectly sufficient. Links to spells in context are great too. Thank you for confirming and clarifying.

![]() |

And, yes, a boon roll is required.
1d20 ⇒ 4
Congrats to Meadow. I'll wait for Dran'Thul to roll and then report the winner(s).

![]() |

"Hey Meadow, ol' pal ol' friend. Surely ya don't need that new door, bein' a ranger person and all..." ;)
Congrats! :)

![]() |

What's this? Nomadical is doing the Watery Soup thing as well? :)

![]() |

Yeah. Busted. Given the pace that PBP moves at, I thought it was a nice idea to help players keep track of the critters' AC.
I'm probably going to switch to vertical slides after this scenario, too, like his and Super Zero and yours.

![]() |

Nope. Didn't realize that Sneak would only apply to agile/finesse even if they haven't acted yet
Sneak Attack says: "If you Strike a creature that has the off-guard condition with an agile or finesse melee weapon, an agile or finesse unarmed attack, a ranged weapon attack, or a ranged unarmed attack,..."
Spell Attacks aren't Strikes (as a certain Investigator recently learned.)
There's a Pre-Remaster feat called Magical Trickster that lets you do it. It's actually still legal even for a Remaster Rogue to take. Lorespire Remaster rules say: "If a character option has not been reprinted, characters are free to use the option as previously printed, or to select it at any time." So Shayla could take that to do Sneak Attack damage with any spell.

![]() |

Oops, sorry. I forgot to move Silence's token. He has to be in melee to provide the support action. He is providing a flank for Meadow. Also for future rounds the bleed from his support is 1d4 and not 1d6
I rolled d6 for the bleed because that's what Shayla inflicted. The striked-out 1d4 in Blue's status line is your benefit. Since they are both persistent bleed, I should only apply the larger one. I suppose I could roll both and take the higher, like rolling advantage on bleed. Though that's technically not RAW, it's also not forbidden. Something to consider in the future.

Shayla Quickfingers wrote:Nope. Didn't realize that Sneak would only apply to agile/finesse even if they haven't acted yetSpell Attacks aren't Strikes (as a certain Investigator recently learned.)
Ok.. ok...
Spell attacks aren't agile/finesse either... :)

![]() |

GAH! So it looks like I mangled this challenge. I combined 2 rooms into one, thereby not ever providing the setting for one of the rooms which would have included the illumination. You entered the three I did actually post, so we'll move it along as if that was the right combination.
Sorry about that.

![]() |

I recommend Kaz for a hero point next time it comes up! :)

Here's the Mechanics for Submitting by turning over the treasure:
Basically you are turning over all of your treasure (and yes, all of your treasure bundles) to the pirates. You can attempt to deceive the pirates for each piece of treasure found so far (10 treasure bundles found) and thereby keep 1 treasure bundle per success.
Since they don’t know exactly what you found, for each piece you don’t want to hand over, you can create fakes, illusions, perform a sleight of hand during the hand off, give them something worthless instead of something valuable, etc.
One check for each of the 10 treasure bundles found.
Repeating the same method of subterfuge (meaning using the same skill twice or more in a row) causes them to become suspicious and thus suffers a cumulative –1 circumstance penalty. A successful check of a different skill resets this penalty (though now that skill would face it in the future).
PCs cannot Aid during this check, nor can they use spells without the Subtle trait, as they’re under too much scrutiny.
In case it's not obvious, Meadow failed. The first roll was indeed a Crit Fail, but the Hero Point brought it up to just a regular Fail.
Too many Failures or Crit Fails will make them angry enough to just decide to kill you enter combat.

![]() |

So for now we deliberately gave one treasure bundle, right?
And we failed a check.
I think we need to kill them to retrieve the given treasure bundle anyway.
But I'm still waiting for Zinthyra's position.

![]() |

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. Zinthyra seems too frightened and overwhelmed to contribute an opinion to the situation.
(The Scenario does not provide any input for her to make, and my adding one to the situation would be undue GM influence outside of Run as Written, I think.)

![]() |

Wow, what a way to start the combat. 2 Crit Strikes by the Heroes, a Crit Fail Bon Mot, and a Crit Fail Will save that takes the Boss out for the next 3 rounds.

![]() |

To explain, Magenta used an Action to issue Plunderer's Command. That gave Red the extra 10 feet of movement she needed to get into the flank. They are elves, so 30 foot speed to start with.
As to the pike/fist combo. They have a "Pike and Strike" 2-action ability that lets them attack with the pike. If it hits, they can make a follow-up Strike with a fist, and MAP doesn't increase until after the Fist strike. (They can also do another, different Thing after a successful pike Strike, but it didn't make sense to do that - yet.)
So after missing Kaz with the pike, the fist was at normal MAP. But because Blue hit Meadow with the pike, the fist has No MAP.

![]() |

There was a Morale / Development condition that “If all the Mordant Spire plunderers are slain, Captain Fraez surrenders.” Taking her off the map while you mopped up her troops was the easiest way to accomplish that. Nicely done!
Thanks for the fun RP and a good game. Hope to see you all around the boards (or around the world) again. If you're going to be at KantCon, GenCon, SkalCon, Dragon Flight (Seattle), DragonCon (Atlanta) or Ancient City Con (Jacksonville, FL), be sure to say hi.
Sorry phaeton, but I won't make it to PaizoCon NZ this year. Maybe I'll swing by when I go down to SYD for New Year's. No promises this far out though.
I’ll report this and get chronicles out by the end of the day today (USA Central time).

Shayla performs for the Grinning Pixie crew, reenacting the fight...
Performance, DC 20: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Success for 7.2gp

![]() |

Chronicle looks good, btw. Thanks for a fun game!

![]() |

Fortune Telling Lore: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Success. 9 sp x 8 days = 7.2 gp
I might swap that for phantasmal killer. I overlooked that difference between them. Fleeing for such a long duration might be very annoying for the GM.
