The sound of boots striking stone echoed through the room as the man strode forward, his salt-and-pepper hair tied loosely in the back. A broad, somewhat floppy hat shadowed his sharp, calculating eyes, while his neatly trimmed mustache and goatee framed a mouth set with purpose. His attire was simple but purposeful: a shirt with a large white collar, a well-worn leather vest, and sturdy boots that bore the marks of long journeys. As he stopped, he removed his hat and placed it against his chest with a flourish, offering a slight bow.
"Greetings, meine Herren und Damen," he began, his Brecht accent thick but his tone commanding. "I am Leopold Müller, new Governor of Mieres, duly appointed by His Highness, Prince Darien Avan." He let the words hang for a moment, ensuring the weight of the statement was felt.
"I am sent, you see, with a singular purpose: to restore order and decency to a land plagued by misrule. The mess left by the previous governor—ah, it is unspeakable—but this, we shall fix." He adjusted his vest, straightening his posture. "By the authority of the Crown of Avanil, I bring with me the will to govern fairly, and the strength to ensure the law is respected. I hope—no, I expect—that we shall work together to bring prosperity to all who dwell in the Straits of Aerele."
A slight smile tugged at the corner of his lips, though his eyes remained serious. "Now, then, I trust my introduction is sufficient, yes? There is much to do, and time waits for no man." He dipped his head in acknowledgment, awaiting the response of the gathered regents.

Gear:
* You start with one magic weapon, +1 only to start with.
* You start with a good horse, either a light war horse or a draft horse.
* Fighter types, Cleric types, and Rogue regents start with good masterwork or magic armor (+1 only). Either heavy armor like plate mail (for fighters and clerics). Or good studded leather for Rogue regents. Wizard regents typically don't have armor as it gets in the way of their somatic spells.
* You start with a miscellaneous magic item, as long as it's as powerful as a +1 weapon.

Hmmm I am willing to take offers I am flexible if you dont mind a Female Elf Wizard who loves trees and have three eyes
.
Well like I said in my last post -- I was formally inviting you (Critizble) to join us (myself of Roesone and Evindyl of Arwenwe) as either Ilien, Diemed, or Medoere this way you will not be doing it alone but will also get the full experience of playing a realm. Now of the three Ilien might be the easiest to run since it is just a single province but that also means you would be limited in what you could do in the realm category. While Medoere and Diemed grant greater opportunties to do more with the Realms.
Regardless of what Realm you chose I know I would extend the olive branch to you and your Realm in a rather direct manner and would be willing to work with you to help us both grow.

Uh, are we supposed to be forming alliances of domains right now?
I'm getting the fairly strong impression that I'm making some kind of massive mistake choosing Elinie but I really don't understand the context of the game enough to know for sure. And I certainly don't understand what mistake I'm making (if I am making a mistake).
Are our characters and Domains all expected to be allies of each other? Should I choose a Domain closer geographically to everybody else? Are we expected to form an Adventuring Party as well as an Alliance of Domains? Why the heck would my character trust half of you (Very Mysterious Elf, Person with 3 eyes, Regent of an evil Pirate Nation)?
Right now it seems to me that I'm preparing to play a very different game than Osprey or Dejoker is planning. And I strongly suspect they're right and I'm wrong.

DeJoker |

well basically Elton said we would be working together thus no PvP would occur therefore it would behoove us all to be allied in some way or another -- however it was brought to my attention that Critzible was not necessarily inclined to run a Realm all by themselves and I wanted to assure them that they could and get quality help from my Realm and character as well as me as their player.
As for Elinie you seem to have a fairly solid possibility of working out a reason to be personally allied with Sielwode the Elven Realm to your direct north which is being run by osprey424 (aka Diarmaid mac Cullaidh) who will have connections to Roesone even though Roesone is a significant distance from Sielwode which will be described once I finish my characters introduction.
And of course Aerenwe and Roesone are direct neighbors with the Realm Miere being a direct neighbor just across the Straight of Aerele from both Realms. Also depending what Critzible chooses to do perhaps another close neighbor.
Oh and Critzible I have no issues with Elves as my mom is one as will be revealed soonish.

DeJoker |

Well like I said if you would like to take the realm of Ilien (1 Province) or Medoere (3 Provinces) or Diemed (6 Provinces). I would be more than happy to work with your character and their Realm and you the player to help you be successful and so that you can get a fuller experience of the game.
Does that sound viable to you Critzible? If so just let us know which Realm you would like to adopt.
Although do note if you want to help the trees -- say in Spiderfell Wood to be more friendly and make the Spiderfell Wood a more peaceful place of beautiful woodlands then Meoere or Diemed would probably be better as they border Spiderfell Wood.
However, if you are not feeling that ambitious then Ilien does have a patch of the Erehannien Woods shared by Roesone and Aerenwe and perhaps your character could help those woods be a greater delight and more bountiful for all three nations maybe even extending them even further into Ilien.
Now of neither of those float your boat of interest I do believe Zahir of Mieres offered to have you help them with Mieres and the extensive Mieres Woods that it has.
Looking forward to hearing from you Critzible on this.

I was told by Elton at the start that the PCs were definitely supposed to be cooperative and not PvP, so that's shaped my ideas and suggestions from the outset.
Geography is always going to make certain groups of allies tighter by convenience and necessity. You can lend a whole lot more military aid to your next-door neighbor than you can from a thousand miles away, and most low-level characters don't have magical travel available.
PS: If you didn't know...Teleporting in Birthright is extra-dangerous, because it goes through a semi-corrupted Shadow World. Accidents can happen.
At higher levels a Wind Walk spell is the safest fast travelling method if you know a good cleric.
Or if you are very lucky, the great blood ability Travel could be known at any level. This is always safe from Shadow World mishaps.

osprey424 |

Critzible Here I am willing to work with whoever. She just wants to help the trees
I'm not trying to compete for players here...if you want to be in the south, no problem!
But 1st I just wanted to say: Some folks may dislike the need to be a dependent on others for GB, but in the past I came to like the challenge of playing a pure source regent cooperating with local landed rulers. It's a unique roleplaying perspective that forces some diplomacy and cooperative, symbiotic relationships from the outset. Landed rulers who want a source regent ally must temper their desire to rule everything up, and find a compromise between landed power and source power if they want both in their realm, as well as pay some seasonal GB tribute to the source regent to support their work.
2nd: If you wanted to stay in the north, more closely tied to the Sielwode, I had been brewing a concept something like this for you:
1. You could be a Lieutenant of mine. This would allow you to use any of the Sielwode's sources once per season (so long as the magic doesn't threaten the realm, of course). You'd also get a seasonal GB stipend.
2. As a source mage expanding the reach of the Sielwode beyond its borders, you could (with DM approval) replace the Three Brother Mages (TBM) sources in nearby Coeranys and the Chimaeron. This has some danger (and excitement) in competing with the Chimaera, the awnsheghlien mage who loosely rules the Chimaeron. Lots of good adventure hooks here, and you can be sure I and probably other PCs would join in those adventures.
3. As Baruk-Azhik is likely to become a close ally, you might be able to grow sources there as well at some point in the future, if the dwarves would allow it. This part is uncertain however...dwarves don't generally trust arcane magic, nor outsiders in the hearts of their realms. But it's conceivable since the practical benefits of having magical defense for their realm and aid against their foes might outweigh their suspicions.

Domain Actions
Since everyone has an idea on what realm they are playing, I thought I would begin the discussion on Domain Actions. This will take us about a week. Also we are using Slow Leveling, because the Domain Actions grant a number of XP.
The domain actions include the ones on this list.
Each domain action comes with a commiserate cost in Regency Points and Gold Bars. The Regency Point cost is reviewed on page 49 of the BIRTHRIGHT Rulebook.

Perhaps you could focus on fostering the health of the forested mountain surface world which the dwarves might often ignore?

Hymn of Baruk-Azhik
(To the tune of “Men of Harlech”)
Guardians of our mighty mountains,
Hear the call of roaring fountains,
Forge and hammer, ancient countenance,
Strength shall guide our hand!
From the depths our banners rising,
Hearts of stone, their strength comprising,
Ours the craft the world’s admiring,
Legends carved in sand!
Chorus:
Baruk-Azhik, proud and free,
Hold the halls of majesty!
Every strike of forge and steel,
Defends the truth we feel.
Stand united, steadfast, strong,
Echo mountains with our song!
For the halls of Baruk-Azhik,
Shall endure through history!
Orogs tremble, shadows falter,
None shall breach our sacred altar,
Moradin, our guide and shelter,
Leads us evermore!
In the glow of ember burning,
Wheels of fate forever turning,
To the anvil we’re returning,
Crafting peace and war!
Chorus:
Baruk-Azhik, proud and free,
Hold the halls of majesty!
Every strike of forge and steel,
Defends the truth we feel.
Stand united, steadfast, strong,
Echo mountains with our song!
For the halls of Baruk-Azhik,
Shall endure through history!

To make it official, yes, I will come and be the dwarves of Baruk-Azhik.
Would anyone like to join Team Dwarf? I know I've asked this before! We could use someone to tend our immortal souls, or our mercantile endeavors. I get it though, everyone is taking on Realms, so no strictly Temple or Guilders are hopping in. No problem, but the offer stands.

The only problem is that the Baruk-Azhik Realm has no Sources so taking a Wizard there would do nothing Blodeuwydd. However if you are a Druid that would mean you could tap into the Temples which they have quite a few of.
Now the Ilien Realm again only has 1 province to manage and while it only has Sources(0) that does not mean you could not increase its Sources and that is better than Baruk-Azhik as their Sources are nil (aka less than 0). That single province looks as follows:
Ilien Realm
... Ilien (7/0)
....... Law RA(7)
....... Temples IHH(4), ETN(3)
....... Guilds EH(7)
....... Sources RA(0)
The other option I suggested was the Medoere Realm which only has 3 Provinces and looks as follows:
Medoere Realm
... Alamier (4/1)
....... Law SE(3)
....... Temples RCS(4), IHH(0)
....... Guilds EH(2), OT(2)
....... Sources RA(1)
... Braeme (3/2)
....... Law SE(1)
....... Temples RCS(3)
....... Guilds OT(3)
....... Sources He(2)
... Caerwil (2/3)
....... Law GK(2)
....... Temples RCS(2)
....... Guilds GK(2)
....... Sources He(3)
So as you can see this Realm has several Sources and yet it still is fairly small and thus with help for your neighbor (my character in Roesone) we should be able to help work things out.
That being said I could work to manage your Guilds and perhaps the Law for your country and we could extend our Sources to you. So how does that sound Blodeuwydd

Blodeuwydd Wynn wrote:Medeore would be the best, and would be interesting to try and institute reforestation in some places. To reforest Medoere, you'd need to lower your province levels.
With love, let's try to remember that some people, sometimes, are actually talking about their CHARACTERS, not about domain mechanics. It could be that all Wynn is indicating is that he would enjoy working with Ilien and other regents of the Erbannien on getting some plantings and young trees to repopulate the coastline of Braeme; no numbers, no holdings, no regency points ... it could be that Critz just wants his character to grow some trees.

osprey424 |

It also allows for more growth with wood as well as opportunities to grow my Source
But yeah I'd work to build more Source areas as I'm an elf with a long game, Such as a Sacred forest
Critz, I was discussing with Elton the other day the possibility for developing arcane realm spells based on your Wood Elementalist spells (most of which are normally druid spells).
Most notable would be your 4th level spell Plant Growth turned into a realm spell.
Perhaps as a 4th level realm spell it could fast-grow a forest in an entire province over the course of a month or season.
Elton seemed to like the idea, in a general sense (details to be ironed out at a future date).
Something to aim for. ;)

I'd like you to run the Realm you'd enjoy running. If you don't want to play Elinie, you can choose another realm you feel comfortable with playing.

osprey424 |

I want to run Elinie if that can be made to work with the other players choices
To answer one of your earlier questions, Elton had said he wanted a cooperative (not-PvP) game.
I was fully expecting that we -the eastern realms (Sielwode, Elinie, Coeranys and Baruk-Azhik) - would make an early alliance block, just as the southern regents will probably make an early alliance block as well. Then I was imagining those 2 blocks would also become (more distant) allied groups, likely by having common enemies between us: Osoerde and Ghoere.
Also: MHORIED (be they PC- or NPC-run) would be an excellent additional ally for the NE group (see below re. common enemies).
That's how I picture things developing in a rough-picture prediction.
Of course differing races, histories, and personal and realm alignments will make cooperation difficult at times...that's part of the role-playing challenge and flavor as I see it! Everything doesn't have to be perfectly aligned from day 1, but I think mutual enemies will always make for great unifiers of diverse groups.
In the case of Elinie and the Sielwode, the absolutely biggest common enemy is Markazor and the Gorgon! The Gorgon's armies have ravaged Elinie and Mhoried more than any other realms in Anuire. They definitely could use more military allies to deal with the inevitable next invasion.
