Background:
Leopold Müller: From Muden to Mieres
Leopold Müller was born into the privileged life of a prosperous Brechtüran family in the bustling port city of Kiedel in Müden. His family, owners of one of the largest trading fleets on the northern shores of the Great Bay, cultivated in Leopold a sharp intellect, a keen eye for opportunity, and a profound respect for the sea. From a young age, Leopold displayed an exceptional aptitude for business and seamanship, earning the admiration of his family and the crews of their ships.
By the time Leopold was in his twenties, he had already assumed significant responsibilities within the family trade network. His innovative approach to logistics and navigation allowed the Müller family to expand their trade routes deeper into Anuire and Khinasi waters. This meteoric rise in the Brecht trading community earned him a reputation as a cunning and capable merchant-captain.
A New Path in Avanil
During one of his voyages to Anuire, Leopold found himself captivated by the grandiosity of Avanil and its central place in the politics of the collapsing Anuirean Empire. Seeing potential in the land and intrigued by its opportunities, he decided to remain in Avanil rather than return to Müden. His natural talents did not go unnoticed for long.
Hired by the Avanese Navy as a maritime consultant, Leopold quickly demonstrated his skills in seamanship, fleet organization, and administrative precision. Rising through the ranks with astonishing speed, Leopold proved instrumental in revitalizing the Avanese naval forces, strengthening their supply chains, and outmaneuvering competitors in maritime logistics. His sharp Brecht mind and disciplined demeanor earned the trust of Prince Darien Avan himself.
Within a decade, Leopold had become one of Darien’s most trusted Lieutenants, playing a key role in ensuring the Prince’s dominance over the Straits of Aerele. Known for his reliability and strategic acumen, Leopold was seen as indispensable to Darien's ambitions of consolidating power in Anuire.
A Mandate in Mieres
Recently, disturbing reports reached Avanil regarding Arron Vaumel, the Governor of Mieres. Though ostensibly a vassal of Darien Avan, Vaumel’s double dealings, piracy, and disregard for the crown's interests had become undeniable. It wasn’t long before Vaumel met an unfortunate and tragic end under mysterious circumstances. With Mieres in chaos, Darien Avan needed someone he could trust absolutely to bring order to the rebellious colony and secure it as a vital extension of Avanil’s influence.
Leopold Müller was the obvious choice.
Invested with the Regency of the former Governor's holdings, Leopold was dispatched to Mieres with a direct mandate from Darien Avan: “Clean that s@&@hole up!” As the new Governor, Leopold faces the daunting task of rooting out corruption, eliminating pirate activity, and restoring Mieres to its intended role as a jewel of Avanese power. With his blend of Brecht cunning, naval expertise, and administrative prowess, Leopold is determined to bring stability and prosperity to Mieres—though the task ahead promises no shortage of peril and intrigue.

By the grace of Haelyn and the authority vested in me as the rightful Prince of Avanil, I, Darien Avan, hereby declare the following:
It is with both firm resolve and hopeful intention that I announce the appointment of Leopold Müller as the new Governor of Mieres. Effective immediately, Governor Müller is invested with the regency and holdings formerly administered by the late Arron Vaumel. Known for his exceptional seamanship, keen administrative talents, and unshakable loyalty to the Crown of Avanil, Governor Müller has my utmost trust to restore order and prosperity to the colony of Mieres.
In recognition of the turbulent times that have plagued Mieres, I further declare a General Amnesty to those who may have found themselves entangled in the corrupt dealings of the prior administration.
