Ecthelien the Grey |
Air elemental tries to flank again
atk: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19 for dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
”I will provide what aid I can.“
Moves to aid/flank Constantine with sword (double move) while trying to stay out of bard line of fire
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura steps closer to the construct, holding her bow in her off hand she jabs toward the thing with her spiked gauntlet, not to deal damage but instead to distract it enough for Constantin's strike to land.
Aid Another attack w Spiked Gauntlet: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
If Ecthelien is providing flank, will step to current position. If not will take up the flanking position. +4 to Constantin's attack via Helpful trait.
Mustaparta |
Air elemental cannot harm the construct significantly, but with Azura's and Ecthelien's aid Constantin scores a hit on it.
Daniel's turn
Daniel de Fehrn |
Dan is ok just moving a little bit and not provoking any stray hit, but still providing flank to Constantin. He hopes that his spare weapon won't suffer the same fate as his main one ... but he almost forgot, before moving, he will cast Divine Favor as a swift action like before, now that Ranginori has given him some spellcasting again.
attacks with a bastard sword : 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 23
Damage : 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Shatter damage : 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6) = 14
He lands an excellent hit, but his spare weapon is broken too.
Sounds like I'll have to resort to the gauntlet equipped with the Full plate. Sigh really unlucky ... !
DM Carbide |
Sorrina Westyr’s image manifests to the Pathfinders, standing before a floating metallic cube scribed with countless shifting glyphs. “We have done it! Now how to open this—”
A great crack interrupts the Master of Spell’s musings, as an immense three-eyed giant with skin like hewn stone steps through a tear in space, with an army pouring out past her. The giant bellows so that all can hear. “I acknowledge your strength, little ones, for you have angered my benefactor enough to send me. I and my warriors, the Daemon Prayers, honor it with unyielding death. Seize the Vault! Slay them all!”
Sorrina Westyr urgently pipes in. “We just need a few more minutes to secure our prize and escape. Hold them off as long as you can!”
Table GMs, begin the final encounters.
Mustaparta |
The Caryatid column falls and two other enemies approach to assault you. One is a fanged humanoid with hideously transparent skin, revealing the vivid colors of internal organs and ivory bones inside its body, and other is emaciated, hairless canine with a strange air of menace and cruelty about it.
Constantin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Daniel de Fehrn: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Ecthelien: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Azura: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Fanged humanoid (white): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
canine (orange ring): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Daniel, Constantin, Ecthelien first, as for Ecthelien's question I don't see being large affecting flank in any way.
Ecthelien the Grey |
Ecthelien tries to identify the dog or humanoid....
It would seem our victory over the statues will be shortened by the interruption of these vile creatures.
kn:planes/dungeoneer/arcane: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Is the elemental around for 2 more rounds or was there any time between?
He will point to the elemental and to the canine for it to attack.
atk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 for slam: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He will then use the one extra use of his arcane pool to use a flame arc on the humanoid...
Flame Arc DC 13) (Su) : 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8
Daniel de Fehrn |
Regardless of who Dan will target first, priority is to move enough to get in range of them, because he sadly won't be able to move and attack during the same six seconds. Instead of moves twice and cast a spell in the process.
I cast Shield of Faith before moving, AC is up to AC27/T13/FF27
Constantin. |
Constantin starts to move around the other side of the southern foe before attempting to skewer it with his spear while it is still flat footed...
longspear attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
cold iron piercing damage + sneak attack: 2d6 + 7 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 + (6, 2) = 20
Mustaparta |
The center ring is still in use. New combat began immediately so elemental remains 2 rounds.
Ecthelien recognizes the canine as outsider Yeth hound, which is vulnerable to silver weapons.
humanoid reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Constantin misses canine which seems to have thick hide. The canine lets out terrifying howl while moving closer to Constantin. Provokes AoO, everyone must make DC 12 Will save vs. the howl rounds panicked if you fail: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Azura next
Constantin. |
will save vs howl: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Constantin is not affected by the beasts howl and attempts to strike at it as it moves towards him...
longspear attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
cold iron piercing damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 6) + 7 = 15
Ecthelien the Grey |
The howl is most disturbing…
Ecthelien will : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
” This foul creature is a yeth hound. Silver weapons will avail you best. “
Elemental will : 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
If the hound moves away from elemental- it tries to hit it unless it flees uggh
AOo? atk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 for dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Apparently too terrified and flies away?
Azura ~bluedove |
Will Save vs Sonic effect: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 = 13
Azura grits her teeth against the sound of the hound's howl, fortunately her training as a bard lends her extra resistance against such sonic based effects and she stands her ground.
She observes the strange humanoid, trying to determine what it is and it's weaknesses.
Knowledge, TtW: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19(Arcana, Local, Planes or Religion. +5 total if it's anything else)
"I have silver weapon blanch, but it's unprepared." She calls out to her comrades along with anything she can determine about the humanoid. And then she begins to sing and starts moving toward the central ring.
I got a round of BP back so, 11th round of Bardic Performance, verbal components; Inspire Courage: +2 to attack, damage and saves vs charm/fear. I can prepare Azura's longword and get it to Daniel for use or I can apply to arrows but it will probably a few rounds to manage unless there is already a burning fire nearby. I might do better just to start casting.
Constantin. |
”If it’s useful to anyone I have a silvered morningstar which I’m happy for someone to take.” offers Constantin.
Mustaparta |
Constantin misses the hound and air elemental flees.
Humanoid is urdefhan, a native outsider whose damage reduction needs good-aligned or silver weapons to bypass. They also have negative energy affinity. It swings its sword at and tries to bite Daniel but shield of faith protects him.
sword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Daniel, Constantin next
Ecthelien the Grey |
The elemental is essentially out of the fight…not sure if Ectheliens turn is up yet?
”I also have a silver weapon, but I only recall swinging it once before and am happy to hand it to anyone more apt with melee.“
Ecthelien will draw his silver light mace looking for a chance to move in…or hand his weapon to Daniel should he need it.
Daniel de Fehrn |
Dan has to move to give flank to Constantin because the latter will probably be unable to move himself, but first the matter of the hound yelling the hell out if it.
Will save :1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
With Azura's bonus it goes up to 13. Dan provokes an AoO from the urdefhan because of moving
He quietly thanks Azura for singing because he knows that without that, he would panic like a headless chicken. he moves towards the hound, luckily moving just enough to get some flanking. He hopes he won't have to use the gauntlet because the weapon is weak, so broken or not, he will try with the bastard sword first. Hit follows at the hound soon after, but not before casting Divine Favor to compensate for the poor state of the weapon.
attacks with a bastard sword : 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 16
Damage : 1d10 + 3 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 + 2 = 7
Due to the hound's thicker skin, the weapon doesn't pierce as much but it's still something.
Constantin. |
Would Dan be able to move to the square to the north of the hound (I assume the thing in the middle of the room would stop Constantin from backing up and using his spear in his current position but he can dimension step into a position which would allow a flank of Dan moves to that square). Assuming that’s ok....
Constantin steps through a crack in reality and re-emerges to the south of his foe (dimensional slide) and then attacks once in flank...
longspear attack + IC + flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 17
cold iron piercing damage + IC + sneak attack: 2d6 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 + 2 + (6, 6) = 25
Mustaparta |
Urdefhan AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Constantin and Daniel hit the evil hound with spear wounding it grievously. Ecthelien draws weapon. Actually Ecthelien's turn is after the hound.
Hound bites at the spear-wielding man AoOs may kill it before it has chance.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Azura next
Azura ~bluedove |
Continuing to sing, Azura throws out a Glitterdust at the Urdefhan. She then resumes moving toward the center ring.
DC 16 Will Save.
I think Etchelien cast using the ring from near this area but that may have been due to Dimensional Slide? Do I need to proceed East to the door?
Ecthelien the Grey |
Ecthelien had summoned the elemental from the ring after dimensionally sliding is correct (prior combat with statues not these foes)
Ecthelien draws weapon while moving to attack after the hounds bite.
”For what it is worth… “
silver mace: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6 for dmg: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Constantin. |
As the hound advances towards him Constantin once again attempts to impale it with his spear (Attack of opportunity)...
longspear AoO attack + IC + flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 29
cold iron piercing damage + IC + sneak attack: 2d6 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 + 2 + (6, 4) = 28
Mustaparta |
The walls on map can be ignored. They represent the circles.
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Hound finally falls to Constantin's spear. Urdefhan closes his eyes just in time to resist magic dust and bites Ecthelien, but misses barely.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
piercing: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Everyone is up
Ecthelien the Grey |
Ecthelien sighs in relief as the jaws of the creature miss him.
This is crude warfare and not something I am fond to repeat any time soon.
He swings again silver mace,IC?: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 = 14 for dmg,IC: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
And then steps back 5' as the elemental winks out someplace in fear.
Daniel de Fehrn |
Dan moves towards the urdefhan trying to get a decent pop at.
attacks with a bastard sword : 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 29
trying to confirm : 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 12
Damage : 1d10 + 3 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 2 + 2 = 13
Great start, some ultimate sputtering, but at least the regular hit has a maximum effect despite the humanoid's resistance.
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura continues to sing, but holds her action until after the Urdefhan has acted, in case she needs to help one of her comrades with her spells.
Yes, 12th round of Bardic Performance, verbal components; Inspire Courage: +2 to attack, damage and saves vs charm/fear.
Been posting on my phone and not adding my usual line.
Constantin. |
For some reason my post from earlier seems to have disappeared! Here it is again...
Constantin moves towards the Urdefhan and once in range attacks it with his spear...
longspear attack + IC: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 = 11
cold iron piercing damage + IC: 2d6 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 + 2 = 14
Mustaparta |
Daniel scores a hit while Ecthelien and Constantin miss. Urdefhan quickly glances at his surroundings and turns to Daniel with wide grin on his face. He tries to activate something but that doesn't seem to materialize. He then bites Daniel but that too misses.
50+ succeeds: 1d100 ⇒ 17
negative energy: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Azura's action then everyone is up again
Daniel de Fehrn |
Dan just slightly moves because he might be very armored that he doesn't want to tempt the devil just yet, given he has already been burned for trying a couple of minutes ago ... hopefully Constantin will still be able to get the flank despite the wall possibly hindering his movement possibilities.
attacks with a bastard sword : 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 11
But this time he flunks the hit quite hard.
Constantin. |
Giving Dan a nod of thanks for keeping the Urdefhan distracted, Constantin moves around behind the creature and attacks it with his spear...
longspear attack + IC + flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 27
cold iron piercing damage + IC + sneak: 2d6 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 + 2 + (5, 2) = 20
Mustaparta |
Constantin finally destroys this evil being. But at the same moment two earth mephits arrive from behind. One attacks Constantin ferociously but doesn't do damage.
Constantin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Daniel de Fehrn: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Ecthelien: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Azura: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
purple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
yellow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Daniel and Ectelien next
Ecthelien the Grey |
Ecthelien barely has time to sigh in relief and the mephits arrive.
More of these critters!
Out of damaging spells, he tries his last glitter dust on the far mephit.
DC15 vs blindness
Daniel de Fehrn |
Clink clonk clank, that's where his full plate really slows him down to a fault. But given he's not trained like a fighter would in that aspect. that will have to do.
Given how the map is, I double move but I probably AoO on the penultimate square of movement
Mustaparta |
Will save vs. blindness: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
AoO vs. Daniel: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Yellow spews a wave of rocks at Daniel.
bludgeoning: 1d8 ⇒ 6 Reflex save DC 13 for half
Constantin and Azura
Constantin. |
Constantin once again steps through a crack in reality and reappears within spear range of the creature that had just attacked him (Dimensional Slide) looking to return the favour...
longspear attack + flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17 +2 if Azura's Inspire Courage is still up.
cold iron piercing damage + sneak: 2d6 + 7 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 + (3, 4) = 20 +2 if Azura's Inspire Courage is still up.
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura maintains her song, charges her bow with Arcane Energy, takes a step to better line up her shot and fires.
+1 Composite Shortbow attack vs Yellow, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 10
Damage, IC, AS: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
Pin/Lanyard Rerol, GM star: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 27
Can show proof of ownership if needed, I used to have 3 stars, but haven't resolved that yet, so only one GM star applied to bonus.
Also, this is my last round of IC, but I think the effect should last until my next turn. Will delay after Constantin to make sure he gets the benefit one more time. ^_^
Mustaparta |
Constantin kills the purple kills with a single strike. Azura fires arrow at yellow wounding it.
Daniel and Ecthelien
Daniel de Fehrn |
Dan has to finish it quickly. He has the feeling that everybody else ran out of gas several minutes ago at least and while he doesn't himself need too much, everybody else might. So he moves and tries to land something big.
attacks with a bastard sword : 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 14
Damage : 1d10 + 3 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 2 + 2 = 12
He can't catch a break, low two times in a row. Hopefull this is enough to hit, but he's not betting on it.
DM Carbide |
Pathfinders push back the extraplanar mercenaries, which flee the Society’s ferocious counterattack when a team strikes down the warlord and her companion asura. The few remaining elementals fight to the last but quickly crumble under the assault. With the path back to the surface clear, Sorrina Westyr leads the way up to the portals, organizes a quick head count, and begins ushering agents back to Golarion. She is among the last to step back onto the Isle of Kortos, carrying a beautiful, fist-sized opal that seems to glow with countless colors. Overhead, the once-radiant Aucturn’s Tear gradually fades in brightness until it’s imperceptible against the night sky.
The Master of Spells holds the immense gem aloft and speaks to the gathered agents. “We have accomplished a marvel today. I hold here an artifact in which dwells a powerful air spirit called Ranginori. Many ages ago, the Elemental Planes existed in balance, forces of good and evil locked in equilibrium. The elemental lords we know of today united against their benign counterparts, and claimed sole dominion. Scholars have speculated on the fates of the defeated, but no longer.
“It will take time to confirm the outsider trapped within this opal is who he claims to be.” She looks up to the gemstone apologetically and adds, “Professional caution and courtesy, you understand.” She then looks back to the Pathfinders and continues. “If that’s true, though, we now hold the essence of the lost lord of air, Ranginori, Duke of Thunder!
“If we can free this being, imagine the history he can share with the Society, the good that might be accomplished. I cannot even begin to speculate on the ramifications for the Elemental Planes…and as word of our accomplishment spreads, there will be many thinking these same thoughts, and not with charitable intent toward us. We must be very cautious in the coming months I fear, and not least in verifying the truth of what we hold.
“Fortunately, thanks to your efforts this evening, we have crippled key allies and armies of the elemental lords who opposed us. It speaks volumes of what the Society has accomplished in the past decade that I can sincerely state you defied demigods and emerged triumphant! It has been my privilege to have been part of that effort.”
That concludes the GameDay XIII PFS1E Special. My thanks to the Table GMs and players!
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura beams to hear that freedom has won the day. She gives her aid in making sure everyone is healed for the journey home. Turning to her companions, she says, "It was good working with you all. We made a good team. Good luck with your future endeavors and come to see me perform when you have some downtime." She gives a flourishing bow.
Thank you, Mustaparta and DM Carbide! It was a great special, might be the first time I ever used all my performances, lol! ^_^
Ecthelien the Grey |
well done! Also agree very drawing on resources but added to the challenge
” An excellent example of cooperation and collaboration to achieve a goal for the Society. Also a wealth of information and experience for our personal development.“
Constantin. |
Constantin shakes everyone by the hand "It was a pleasure to work with you all, some great teamwork." he says "Although I dread to think how much I'll ache in the morning after all that exercise.".
Spotting Ectheliens spellbook he adds "If you'd be interested you're more than welcome to copy any spells I have in my book once we get back to the lodge."
Thanks everyone especially Mustaparta for running. Some really good team work especially as we were the smallest sized table in the special and these scenarios doesn't come with a 4 player adjustment.
