This is a hazard. Trying to do anything with the control panel will trigger the trap, as will doing anything to the door. There is an access panel at the top of the elevator which is not trapped, however.
Dagang finds that the panel allows you to safely escape the elevator.
As soon as all of you climb out, the elevator crashes hard at the bottom, but you are able to climb safely to your desired level on a ladder at the side.

"Whew! That was close!" Dagang is kinda shocked but relieved as he is the last one to step out of the elevator to the side before it suddenly crashes down.

”Yes, and that apparition will soon be coming for us as well!” Com-Tal confidently announces as he climbs along with the rest. ”Well done at getting us out of that death box, Dagang!”

Fiver watches the elevator crash at the bottom, " I will send a sternly worded complaint to the elevator maintenance contractor. That they should take into account apparitions in their safety protocol planning."
As you exit the elevator, you get the eerie sense you are not on the part of the station you expected. In fact, it's very unlikely any of you have been in this part of the station ever before.
You also notice that you cannot reach the infosphere, or use any communications devices.

Dagang quickly draws his weapon, realizing they are not in the place they expected to arrive at.
"Maybe the elevator was a portal to somewhere else." he muses but keeps his eyes peeled and quickly scans the area to familiarize himself with the layout of the place they are currently at.

Com-Tal powers up their pulse gauntlet and shivers, a radiant hue rippling through their improbable fur.
"One tick, loves," they say, accessing their memory, trying to concentrate on what they might know about the entity that they saw.
Common is trying to "size up" the entity so that it could fit the criteria of one of their "assets". See below.
Size Up:
SIZE UP (concentrate, envoy, exploration)
Frequency once per hour
You spend 1 minute observing a specific individual, 10 minutes researching a specific individual on the infosphere, or 1 hour networking and gathering information about a specific individual in a settlement or appropriate location that they frequent, learning how best to endear yourself to, scare, or otherwise manipulate that individual. This subject is your asset. If you assess your asset via observation, you don’t need to know their identity, but if you assess your asset via research or networking, you must know their identity, which requires at least two relevant pieces of information about them. Examples of relevant information could include their name, their place of origin, their current residence, the name of their parent or significant other, their employer, or their organizational affiliation. The GM determines what constitutes relevant information for this purpose, based on the asset you’ve selected.
You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Deception, Diplomacy, Intimidation, and Perception checks made against your asset or in relation to your asset if the target knows your asset, and a +1 circumstance bonus to attempts to Recall Knowledge about your asset. You can maintain a number of assets equal to your Charisma modifier. If you Size Up other assets after that, your new asset replaces a previous one.
The coms work to talk to each other, at least as close as they are. They do not seem to be able to contact the rest of the station.
When you move forward, you find a flashlight dropped on the ground illuminating the first intersection. Faded graffiti covers the walls, and fast food wrappers mingle with other trash along the metal grated floor. The flashlight has the words 'Ghost Tours' printed on it.
