Scary horse would be scarier if its teeth got anywhere near the elemental.
Torrin rushes straight into the fray, but some more time to get his bearings probably would have helped.
Moe takes an off-balance-looking swing at the blue creature, and despite appearances, it lands.
Micah patches up his eidolon.
Round 1-2 - bolded may go

Red (-2 AC)
Koli

Ponya |

Did Ponya’s original readied attack miss? Or never triggered or something?

cmlobue |

Sorry, only looked at the most recent post. Updating.
Scary horse started off pretty scary, but got less so. Hopefully it will do more scary things soon.
The red elemental has a wealth of targets.
Clockwise from Top: 1d5 ⇒ 2
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Its fist glances off Torrin's armor. It then descends carefully into the ground.
Nothing I've seen indicates that it can't 5-foot step using burrow, but if there is something to say otherwise, please show me so I can give you all AOOs.
Round 2 - bolded may go
Moe
Dora 2 (delay)
Micah and Ponya
Red
Koli
Thor
Allanarion
Blue (-9 HP)
Torrin Garr (-2 AC)

The Take 5-Foot Step rules say, "You may not take a 5-foot step using a form of movement for which you do not have a listed speed," which sees to imply that you can take a 5-foot step with any movement form that you do have.
"Gravel and scree," Allanarion curses mildly in Terran when the earth elemental sinks into the ground. They ready an attack for when the elemental shows itself again.
masterwork longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
damage (S): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Koli spits something in a language most of you don't know, and given the sound, you're not sure you *want* to know. "Fine. Next up!" she shouts as she heads for the other elemental.
scizore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for piercing: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Come on, dice! At least *one* of my games shouldn't suck. :(

Thor Steggy |

The stegosaurus gallumphs, following his human. He swings his tail around to whack the monster.
tail slap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 for bludgeoning: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
That's *slightly* better. Not enough, but the damage is terrible anyway.

![]() |

well, as long as it's burrow speed is greater than 5 ft
unfortunatly, Dora can't do anything unless at least part of the team is OK taking splash damage from bombs.
Ponya is immune to fire and Micah has fire resist 5, you are more than welcome to chuck fire bombs in their vicinity.

cmlobue |

Dira waits for an opening.
Allanarion waits for a target.
Koli and Thor wait for their luck to change.
The blue elemental look sat the conga line which is somehow not just a bunch of people flanking each other and picks a target.
Left to Right: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Bludgeoning Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
It then also descends.
Round 2-3 - bolded may go

Micah pulls out his crossbow and squints, ready to fire if the elemental returns, ”Where ya at, buddy?”

![]() |

Torrin takes one step back, ready to attack should the creature reappear.
dmg, lt flail: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

![]() |

"Huh?" mutters Moe. "I could have sworn there was a walking pile of dirt here a second ago."
Moe shrugs, then brings his mug to his lips. "Here's one for you," he says to the stegosaurus. Clinking his mug against a spikey plate, he takes a prayerful sip on behalf of his ally.
Casting guidance on Thor
He then stumbles over to what appear to be a post and leans in for a momentary rest.

![]() |

Dora will ready to throw a bomb when an enemy appears, if she can do so without hitting an ally who would be hurt by the fire and doesn't give permission.
attack, bomber's eye: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

cmlobue |

Everyone prepares for the elementals to reemerge.
The red-tinged one does, and Allanarion swings at it, chopping deeply into its rocky flesh. Torrin follow up with a powerful swing of his flail, which crushes it.

Koli waits impatiently for the walking rock to reappear.
Readied smack with scizore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for piercing: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

cmlobue |

The rock does reappear, and Koli and Thor make quick work of it when it does.
Combat over!
Torrin Garr (-6 HP)
The Pathfinders can now travel to one of the three major entrances:
* The Crater is visibly swarming with defenders. If you take this path, you can expect to engage in frequent, dangerous combats.
* The Frozen City is on the asteroid's dark side, and exploration and diplomacy may be expected.
* The Sea of Light has many environmental hazards, but contains the wreck of a metal craft that may be of interest.

![]() |

The wrecked metal craft definitely catches Allanarion's attention, but they are willing to explore either of the other options if their companions prefer.
The aphorite draws Moe's attention to the late arrival, who looks like he could use a charge from the wand the party was issued.

![]() |

Torrin Garr... not quite the introduction I'd spoken of. Well done brothers and sisters of two or more legs. He chuckles, then winces, rubbing a shoulder.
Were the creatures initially hostile? When I came through they looked to be so I engaged.
Perhaps my ego as well as shoulder are bruised, but avoiding endless conflict... would be my choice.

![]() |

"Allanarion," the aphorite says with a polite nod. "And yes, the earth elementals attacked as soon as we came through." They keep a wary eye on the horizon while the party discusses where to head next.

![]() |

"You provided a great distraction! I'm Koli and this is Thor," she points to the stegosaurus who is poking its nose at the toy that broke (the elemental). She looks around at the places the party can go next. "I'm no good at talking, but I like fighting and exploring."
Option 1 or 3 preference, but not wedded to it. I don't have a wand or I would heal Torrin. I'm pretty sure we have someone who can cast it if Torrin does.

![]() |

We got a wand of CLW at the start (8 charges iirc), our warpriest has it and will use it for injuries until it runs out. I’d suggest just rolling for healing and assuming the warpriest is activating that wand for us. If the GM is ok with that for out of combat healing (mainly to keep things moving).
Micah harrumphs, ”Easy fight. Prolly the only one. Be wary of whatever evil is sending the cannon fodder. Let’s check out that ship.”
He reloads and puts his crossbow away, then pulls out his wand of Protection from Evil to carry.

![]() |

It has 10 charges. 9 now, after Moe heals Torren.
wand of cure light wounds: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Allanarion has a full CLW wand, if we need more after using up the freebie one.

cmlobue |

The Pathfinders heal Torrin and then set out for the Sea of Light.
Gravity here is 20% of Golarion's.
The constant light of the sun bathes this side of the asteroid now that its rotation has halted. The light level is bright and the temperature is severe heat.
Those who have planetary adaptation are unaffected by the head, but are affected by light and gravity. Torrin, you can spend 1 PP (or give up 1 PP from this chronicle) to have this spell cast on you, but must choose now.
Magma bubbles to the surface throughout the area here and lava flows about in wide-ranging rivers across the burning fields. Some inactive tunnels do show signs of habitation, and the crackling sound of Ignan-speaking voices echoes against the obsidian formations. Two humanoids with skin like ash and a small creature made of flame spot you.
Squares that are at least 50% magma deal 1d4 fire damage to anyone who steps on it.

Micah and Ponya speak Ignan, is there anything they understand? And what knowledge checks for the two types of creatures?

![]() |

Koli charges forward, then skids to a halt at the edge of the magma. "Uh...maybe we should wait for them to come to us?" she asks uncertainly as she takes a step back from the heat.
Calling Thor to her, she points at Allanarion and says, "Help." Thor snuffles, sneezes, and then bounces in place as he takes the command. Thor will wait for Koli's next turn and will act with her unless something attacks him.

Micah and Ponya speak Ignan, is there anything they understand? And what knowledge checks for the two types of creatures?
"Man, I can't believe we're stuck out here."
"Yeah, it's so cold."...scenario provides nothing.
Humanoids are Local, other thing is Planes.

![]() |

Micah squints across the fire, ”Well, they aren’t kin so do what ya gotta do here.”

Ponya |

Knowledge: Planes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
The fire horse shakes his mane, ”Duh, they aren’t monkeys in a zoo so they can’t be related.”
Micah glowers at him, though that’s his normal look so it’s hard to tell any difference.

![]() |

Micah yells across the gap (in ifrit), ”Hey buddies, whatcha doing? Ya ain’t here to attack, right? There isn’t any reason for that. I’m sure we can work something out.”

He taps Ponya with his wand (Prot from Evil) and strides forward.
{ignan} ”So, what’s up? We gonna talk this out?”

Ponya |

The fire horse moves up to guard his idiot master, readying a (reach) strike if the blue cloaked foe does anything aggressive.

![]() |

Allanarion moves up beside Micah, their sword and shield out and ready, while studying the approaching foes.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Untrained, but just in case the DC is 10 or less: Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Mostly looking for DR, weaknesses, and resistances/immunities other than fire (which appears to be a given).
Double move, so turn done except for relaying anything they might learn.

cmlobue |

The thing that looks like a small fire elemental is a small fire elemental, an outsider with the elemental, extraplanar and fire subtypes. it is vulnerable to cold.
My apologies, the humanoids are also Planes. Applying the different modifier tells Allanarion that they are ifrits, outsiders with the native subtype. They have no DR or weakness based on their type.
I imagine this will change how Micah behaved, but nothing he does will affect how the ifrits have acted so far.

![]() |

It won’t. He did nothing more than talk a big game while also doing exactly what he normally does on his turn. I was sneaky.

![]() |

Torrin angles over casually, ready to protect his teammates.

![]() |

Not sure what the others are doing, but noting they are not attacking the new arrivals, Moe approaches the others with caution. He tips his mug to ask for some divine insight for an ally.

cmlobue |

Micah gets no response.
Moe approaches and buffs Koli. Torrin also moves closer.
Dora, Koli and Thor also move closer warily.
The other humanoid crosses the lava carefully, while the elemental charges at Allanarion.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23

The good aligned ifrit snorts, ”Perhaps they are deaf. I shall use sign language.”
He puts his wand away and carefully raises both hands up, presenting his middle fingers to the blue tinged ifrit.
Standard Action to Demoralize: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
He will use one of two uses of a boon to add +5 on that intimidate check.

Ponya |

Ponya looks at Micah like he is an idiot, until the ‘sign language’ is actually revealed. Then you hear a raspy chortling from the fire horse.
The eidolon takes the long way down and around the blueish ifrit before he snaps his head out to bite at him.

Allanarion doesn't know Ignan, so curses in Infernal as they narrowly avoid catching fire. They swing their sword at the elemental, then a cloud of golden motes surrounds the aphorite, forming runes and glyphs in the air.
