Tonfer looks around while dusting himself. "I think that will be all for now. Thank you very much for helping me to get through the most difficult part. I should be able to complete the item in the next week or so." he says while Viltydus motions everyone to go outside while Tonfer cleans up the area.
"Job well done for the second task. Why don't you take a rest and let's meet again at our meeting point for your other tasks tomorrow?" they tell them.
---
Everyone is at full health again and have their Daily Preparations. A hero point to Clover!
When they meet Viltydus the next day, they direct the Pathfinders to an intersection north of their stump along the border of the Forest of Trials. A branching network of footpaths emerges between the trees where the fey meets the Pathfinders.
Viltydus gestures to the forest’s border. “Legends about the Forest of Trials, Arcadia’s first barrier on the path to Valenhall, are many and varied. Locals whisper of curses that shroud it in secrecy, of bloodthirsty beasts that dwell among the trees. But the forest has long been my home, and I think it supports those who come to know it. Pathfinders, my task is for you to fulfill your Society’s namesake: use the day’s light to map one of the many footpaths along the forest’s edge. Respect the forest, but do not fear it, and gather what you need to introduce it to future explorers.”
"Chart one of the unmapped paths along the forest’s edge to add to the local knowledge of the mythical wood. A warning: bandits and monsters do roam the woods, but the forest itself isn’t a sinister place." they add.
Charting a pathway occurs in exploration mode. Choose an exploration activity and one relevant skill check as you chart the unmapped path of dense foliage: DC 20 Acrobatics, Forest Lore, Herbalism Lore, Nature, Stealth, or Survival. Other appropriate skill may be allowed. The group earns Pathfinding Points depending on the result of your checks:
Critical Success The PCs gain 2 Pathfinding Points.
Success The PCs gain 1 Pathfinding Point.
Critical Failure The PCs lose 1 Pathfinding Point.

⬤ WOODLAND STALKERS! Round 2 ⬤
Terrain Feature(s): DC 22 Reflex save vs Entangling Flora: All surfaces in the area are difficult terrain. Each round that a creature starts its turn in the area, it must attempt a Reflex save. On a failure, it takes a –10-foot circumstance penalty to its Speeds until it leaves the area, and on a critical failure, it's also immobilized for 1 round. Creatures can attempt to Escape to remove these effects; The underbrush (on your right) is Difficult Terrain that provides enough concealment for Small or prone creatures to Hide or Sneak. The rock formation (on your left) is 10 ft high.

Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 Failure, but she's not moving so it's fine.
Clover raises her mirror and does two things with it. First she directs it towards the creature that just approached her so that she can analyze it. Then she directs it behind them, so she can see herself reflected there.
Then, using any new weakness she's ascertained, she tries to crush it.
◈ Exploit Esoteric Lore: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 That's a success if it's level 11 or lower, in which case Clover learns its highest weakness and her attacks trigger that weakness; if it has no weakness, it gains weakness 4 to her attacks. If it's level 3 or lower, that's a critical success and she also learns any other weakness, resistances, immunities, or unusual defenses.
◈ Mirror's Reflection to flank
◈ Strike Warhammer: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 for bludgeoning damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 2) + 8 = 14 plus any weakness; oh, crit! Weakness doesn't double on a crit, but it must make a DC 21 Fort save or be knocked prone from Crit Spec

GM Frost |

Shayla throws hatchets at Black Twig 1. (Crit, 22 damage; Hit, 9 damage; Miss) Twig 1 eliminated
Clover's analysis reveals that Stalker is weak with anything made of cold iron. She flanks it with mirror image of herself and brings a Warhammer down to it. Crit, 14*2 + 5 weakness = 33 damage That is enough to bring down the enemy. Stalker 1 eliminated

GM Frost |

Silence finds the twig not that appetizing, while Meadow looks for the missing enemy.

Stalker 2 curses under its breath. It creates a wall of thorns to divide the two from others!
Both ends of the wall of thorns terminate at 10-foot-high rock formations. You can climb them with a DC 15 Athletics check if you prefer not to pass through the wall. Or spend actions to attack the wall.
