When they meet Viltydus the next day, they direct the Pathfinders to an intersection north of their stump along the border of the Forest of Trials. A branching network of footpaths emerges between the trees where the fey meets the Pathfinders.

Viltydus gestures to the forest’s border. “Legends about the Forest of Trials, Arcadia’s first barrier on the path to Valenhall, are many and varied. Locals whisper of curses that shroud it in secrecy, of bloodthirsty beasts that dwell among the trees. But the forest has long been my home, and I think it supports those who come to know it. Pathfinders, my task is for you to fulfill your Society’s namesake: use the day’s light to map one of the many footpaths along the forest’s edge. Respect the forest, but do not fear it, and gather what you need to introduce it to future explorers.”

"Chart one of the unmapped paths along the forest’s edge to add to the local knowledge of the mythical wood. A warning: bandits and monsters do roam the woods, but the forest itself isn’t a sinister place." they add.

Charting a pathway occurs in exploration mode. Choose an exploration activity and one relevant skill check as you chart the unmapped path of dense foliage: DC 20 Acrobatics, Forest Lore, Herbalism Lore, Nature, Stealth, or Survival. Other appropriate skill may be allowed. The group earns Pathfinding Points depending on the result of your checks:

I think it's frightened should have fallen off unless I'm missing another source. It got frightened from my crit, so it wasn't frightened when it I hit it, so I don't think Remorseless Lash works to keep it from falling off.

Wall of Thorns :
Over the course of a minute, you grow a wall of thorny brambles from the ground. You create a 5-foot-thick wall of brambles and thorns in a straight line up to 60 feet long and 10 feet high. You must create the wall in an unbroken open space so its edges don't pass through any creatures or objects, or the spell is lost. The wall stands vertically. If you wish, the wall can be of a shorter length or height. Everything on each side of the wall has cover from creatures on the opposite side, and the wall's spaces are difficult terrain. For every move action a creature uses to enter at least one of the wall's spaces, that creature takes 3d4 piercing damage. Each 10-foot-by-10-foot section of the wall has AC 10, Hardness 10, and 20 Hit Points. It's immune to critical hits and precision damage. A destroyed section can be moved through freely.
