The War of the Lance

Game Master EltonJ

This campaign is a DRAGONLANCE campaign, going from DL1 to DL12. I will be using the 15th Anniversary version, though. Since it collects the material in the adventures.

Without others commenting, Torgar stalks off toward them to see who they are and what they are doing.

This is silly but I can't help but see Torgar with a great axe even though I originally went with a great sword. Do you mind if I change that? Combat wise the axe is a bit weaker but seems more thematic to me.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

No, you can change to a great axe. And, yes, it's silly.

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Augier follows Torgar as back up.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The robed ones are discussing something. They appear to be arguing with one another. Even over the simplest thing.

A perception check should reveal what they are talking about.

Augier's Perception: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
Togar's perception: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20
Reuben's perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Mariel's perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Augier:
They are talking about you and your action of taking out the goblin.

Togar:
They are talking about the group, and how they can stop you from getting to Xak Tsaroth. They want the blue crystal staff for themselves.

Reuben:
You can hear something about magic.

Mariel:
Mariel, you don't know what they are talking about, but you can hear mumbles about magic.

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Augier sneaks back to Togar. They talken about me taking out the gobbo. I am famous!

Dwarf Barbarian Invulnerable Rager 5 | HP 61/61 | AC21 T13 FF19 | F+8 R+5 W+4 | CMD20 | Init+3 Percep+7 | Rage 15 rds | Current effects:

"Really?" Torgar bellows when he hears their discussion. "Come and take it then!" he roars and charges.

Great Axe, charge, furious focus, rage: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 26
Great axe dmg, furious focus, rage: 1d12 + 11 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 3 = 15

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Ouch! Surprise attack! Everyone let us do initiative.

Torgar attacks the draconians by surprise. One of them starts trying to chant words of magic. Another gets out his wicked blade and tries to parry, but was unsuccessful.

Torgar, are you using any feats?

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Dwarf Barbarian Invulnerable Rager 5 | HP 61/61 | AC21 T13 FF19 | F+8 R+5 W+4 | CMD20 | Init+3 Percep+7 | Rage 15 rds | Current effects:

Furious focus is the follow on to power attack, removes attack penalty on the first attack and he raged. With rage his AC is 19.

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Reuben holds the gleaming orb high above his head and bellows out an incantation,

"Anak panah sihir, cari sasaran mu"

He points a finger of the other hand at the spellcasting creature. Large, gleaming white bolts of light shoot from his fingers and strike the creature in the chest.

Magic Missile Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) + 3 = 9

Gotcha. I just wanted to be sure, since most people in my games don't take advantage of their feats.

Magic Missile Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 1) + 3 = 9

Undeterred, and still feeling the pain, the spellcaster instinctively grabs his chest. He's still trying to incant -- but his concentration has been broken. (Lacks combat casting).

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

Reuben grins, and calls out to Torgar and the others,

"See, friends? They feel pain just like any others!"

He laughs and tugs his beard.

1d20 ⇒ 1 Initiative

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Augier will bash with his club when he gets close.

Greatclub,Charge,PA: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 - 1 = 281d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Augier has scored a hit, and the draconian attacks Augier with his sword.

Draconian counter attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Torgar's attack was a surprise round? So we are now in regular combat? Are you going to give us a turn order? Is it by individual or Us v Them?

F AC 14, touch 10, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor) hp 65 (7d8+9) Fort +6, Ref +2, Will +9; +2 vs. enchantments Immune sleep

DM, is it possible to give a post that shows the initiative orders?

Yes.

Draconian Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Initiative Order
1. Augier (25)
2. Reuben (17)
3. Draconians (10)
4. Mariel (1)

Still waiting on Torgar. Please note, playing combat in pbp is slow by the RAW. If Torgar will post his initiative we can get on with combat.

His roll is right above the one I made yesterday at 7"11 pm/ Did we lose our monk?

Initiative Order

1. Augier (25)
2. Reuben (17)
3. Draconians (10)
4. Torgar (7)
5. Mariel (1)

We probably did, unfortunately.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The draconians fan out, and each try to outflank both Augier and Torgar. They reveal their weapons, some weapons with wicked designs. The spellcaster is trying to gain his composure back. He has golden scales and piercing blue eyes.

Barb5 HP56/56 F6R4W3 AC19T13FF16 Per+7

Augier keeps bashing

Club,PA: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 291d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Crit check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 131d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Ouch! I think you killed one!

Augier's club hits stone, as the draconian turns to stone!

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

Reuben's sharp eyes take in the situation, and then narrow as he focuses on the other spellcasting creature. He draws a complex symbol on his orb and makes a complex geometrical design in the air, shouting,

"Jaring sihir, tangkap yang lewat!"

A roiling mass of glowing white fibers burst from the ground beneath the gold-scaled creature and begin climbing it, seemingly seeking to cocoon it in a viscous web of light. Other creatures nearby are similarly affected. Reuben grins, and stashes his orb, drawing a dagger, ready to throw it when he can.

Reuben is going to cast web, centered on the spellcasting creature, to hinder its spells. This should also help restrain some of the other creatures so that they can be dispatched easily.

Hmm. Let me check something. Okay, the Aurak gets a reflex save to negate your spell.

Aurak Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Okay, 13, what is the DC of your spell again?

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

It should be a DC 17. (10+2+5)

An aurak or a bozak? Gold or bronze?
