The War of the Lance (Inactive)

Game Master EltonJ

This campaign is a DRAGONLANCE campaign, going from DL1 to DL12. I will be using the 15th Anniversary version, though. Since it collects the material in the adventures.

That is another crit. You must be lucky to get two critical strikes in a row. Confirm a second time, please?

You do 12 damage to the leader.

You need to roll to strike for that. :)

That's a miss. Apparently, the enemies dodged it.

Since it is a tit for tat I'm waiting for the goblins to attack or take some sort of action before chopping another one in half.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The goblins move in, although their leader is wounded. Not sure what to do, they pick up their leader and run from the fight.

Augier chases the goblins, barking all the while.

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

Reuben pauses, recovering his composure. He then addresses Goldmoon,

"Milady, we must move on. The goblins still hunt us, and fouler things lurk in our shadows. I think we should head for Darken Wood now, despite my unease at entering that hallowed place in the early hours of the morning."

He takes a deep breath and waits for the adrenaline to wear off. Then he nods to the rest of the group.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

"As you wish, master mage," says Goldmoon. "We can brave the forest of Darken Wood." Riverwind goes to her to protect her.

Torgar grits his teeth and with a huge intake of breath he seems to calm himself a bit, "Aug! Let them flee. We need to stick with the others." Torgar calls out after his fellow dwarf.

Augier comes back with a goblin head like a dead rat a cat would bring home. Let's go!

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

If you guys are ready, I think we can move on.

Reuben packs up his belongings, and nods to the others,

"Darken Wood is just a few miles farther. Just remember, destroy nothing. Take nothing. It is sacred ground. Only attack in defense, we wish the masters of the forest to pay us favorable attention if any at all."

He then takes his staff in his hand and sets out on the path, whistling the traveling song from before.

Augier scouts ahead, sniffing the air for danger.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

Auggh, Rueben, and Mariel, I'll need a perception check please.

Both Mariel and Reuben perception results:
You both see a white stag standing before you. It's a magnificent animal, it seems to glow with a radiance above any in the forest. The white stag looks at you, then walks towards the forest, then looks at you again.

Togar's Perception:
Torgar sees the white stag, but it's attention is on Mariel and Reuben.

We want deer for dinna? I make good deer stew.

Male Human Wizard (3), Wizard of High Sorcery (2)

Reuben's eyebrows shoot up, and he remembers Par-Salian's words.

"No, Augier, stay your hand! We must not hurt any peaceful creatures near these woods. Those who sanctified the forest might be watching!"

Reuben locks eyes with the stag, and he bows low, allowing it to go on its way.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The stag waits for Mariel's reaction.

Auger grumbles but stays still.

Mariel's Recollection:

You know that the stag is related to the story of Huma. That a white stag led him into a forest like Darken Wood.

Nobility or Religion would have helped! This time I used nobility. Note most solamnics think that Huma's stag was apocryphal.

The White Stag is a sign of the Knight of the Crown, Huma Dragonbane. who cast the Dragon Queen into the Abyss. A Staff that brings healing and the sign of the gods, we need to follow it she says as she hastens to keep up.

The white stag moves closer to the trees. He bids Mariel to follow him.

The stag goes from your touch, and travels closer to the forest. He still looks at Mariel, leading her into the forest.

Reuben follows as quickly as he can.

Male Human Psion 10/Atlanteologist 10

The stag goes at a trot. A little fast for a human who is walking, but slow for a deer. It wasn't long until the party was inside the forest. The stag goes deeper into the forest. However, you seem to be on a road.

Augghh huffs and puffs, his little legs straining to keep up.

Reuben’s eyes narrow as the eerie mist of Darken Wood swirls around them, the ancient trees whispering secrets of ages past. The white stag, their enigmatic guide, pauses, its luminous eyes reflecting a silent warning. Reuben catches a faint glimmer of light in the gloom, and recoils a bit when he sees spirits begin to coalesce out of the mist.

Reuben’s heart quickens, but he maintains his composure. He raises his orb, the clear crystal glowing faintly in the dim light.

“Steady, everyone,”

he says, his voice calm.

“These spirits may not be hostile, but we must be prepared for anything.”

He begins to chant softly, invoking the protective spells he learned during his rigorous training at the Tower of High Sorcery. The air around them shimmers as a protective barrier forms, a faint glow that offers a semblance of safety against the encroaching apparitions.

“We should stay close to the stag,”

Reuben suggests.

“Its presence is our beacon in this darkness. We must trust in its guidance.”

As the ghosts drew nearer, their ethereal forms becoming more distinct, Reuben’s mind races through the lore he had studied.

“Remember,”

he adds,

“these woods are ancient and full of forgotten magic. Respect the spirits, and they may yet reveal their purpose.”

He glancs at his companions, offering a reassuring nod.

“Together, we will face whatever comes. Trust in your training, and in each other.”

Sorry I haven't posted as much recently. Reuben is going to cast protection from evil on himself, and prepare to cast a protective ward on the other party members.

Augier's eyes widen at the sight of the ghosts.

Ghosties! He throws up his hands Ghosties go away! He scatters salt from his pack since every good Gully knows ghosts hate salt.
