OK.

Jack moves to find the undead.

Silverhex Quest WEBS | The Corageous Confirmation

Uori answers: "Thank you for the warning."

Cheeper smells old bones and rotting flesh, but each and every source of these odors is in plain sight. Trying to flush out the undead, Jack walks forward. As his living presence enters the chamber several of the bones begin to rise as undead gillmen silently reach out bony fingers for living flesh.

The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.

You emerge from the caverns into a 40-foot clearing at the base of the Kortos Mounts. The full moon above casts provides dim light over the entire area, bright enough to illuminate even the shaded leaf litter beneath the trees.

Nearly 100 feet from the cave’s entrance, Janira Gavix is locked in combat with her relentless minotaur foe in a clearing on the southern bank of the stream. Janira looks exhausted as a scroll in her hand burns up with a final spell. The magic flows from the scroll as it sends cracks all along the minotaurs axe. Janira shouts, “You vile beast! Paloma had drawn the scroll case from her belt to have them ready as they made their way toward the exit of the tunnels, but once she saw Janira's peril she abandoned the idea of using them herself. Inside were Janira's scrolls, after all and one would be capable of concealing the halfling from her dangerous combatant.

She knew only one spell that could span the distance, so she pointed a hand toward the minotaur and called upon her bond with nature to impede the monstrous creature.
Casting Entangle, Reflex DC 12, put a green circle on the map to indicate area of effect. At the very least, difficult terrain will make it so he can't 5-ft step.

Then she commanded Cheeper's attention and gestured between the scroll case and Janira. "Take it to her girl, go to Janira, go!"

This spell causes tall grass, weeds, and other plants to wrap around creatures in the area of effect or those that enter the area. Creatures that fail their save gain the entangled condition. Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn. Creatures that move into the area must save immediately. Those that fail must end their movement and gain the entangled condition. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the DC of the spell. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the effect lasts.

Ryul moves up to the bridge, a small metal throwing dart slipping into his free hand.

”Perhaps a small injury will attract the beast’s attention.”

He whips the blade across the stream, hoping to hit the large foe.

Dart + IC - range: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 6 for P + IC: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Is the dim light from being at night? If so, is the area illuminated in moonlight? I rolled ok, but the question may be relevant later.

Crap, gonna burn my Reroll on that attack roll. Gotta get them off Janira, or at least make them think twice.

Yes, it is night:

Ah perfect. Anyone with low-light vision can see fine then. The humans and halflings are still 20% screwed though.

@Ryul: Unfortunately, this is not the case:

In an area of dim light, a character can see somewhat. Creatures within this area have concealment (20% miss chance in combat) from those without darkvision or the ability to see in darkness. A creature within an area of dim light can make a Stealth check to conceal itself. Areas of dim light include outside at night with a moon in the sky, bright starlight, and the area between 20 and 40 feet from a torch. (Source)

@Paloma: Thanks for the reminder!
Minotaur Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 (vs DC 12)

The Minotaur manages to evade the grabbing plants a second time.

I will bot Paul in order to keep us moving.

The group hustles closer, some with difficulty to stay on their feet. Despite the distance and the dim light Ryul manages to hit the minotaur with a dart, drawing blood. Paul draws his shortbow and fires a cold iron arrow at the Minotaur...

shortbow, IC: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
miss 20+: 1d100 ⇒ 94
piercing, IC: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

...but the arrow goes wide. Janira steps back from the Minotaur and attempts to throws her tanglefoot bag at it.

She manages to dodge another attack of the monstrosity and even hits it with the bag, but the Minotaur avoids being glued to the ground! Janira then grabs the scrollcase out of the cheetah's mouth. "Thanks, Cheeper!"

Paloma chews her lip apprehensively. She had hoped the halfling would have retreated to a safer distance by now, but she supposed that would only succeed in giving the Minotaur an opportunity to charge.

The boys were right to try and divide the beast's focus, though her heart ached at the risk. Cheeper looked so small in the distance, so fragile next to the monstrous creature. But Janira was definitely hurt and could likely not stand against another blow. She clenched her jaw with resolve as she lifted the signal whistle to her lips and sounded a blast to call the cheetah's attention onto her. She raised her shield before her and crossed her other forearm in front of it in the gesture she used to signal defense and then gave the command to attack the Minotaur.
Handle Animal Push to Fight Defensively: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 4 = 27

As Cheeper moved to respond, she spoke a prayer aloud as she dismissed the Entangle spell, lest she hinder her fellow's progress. "Be swift, my friends."

Cheeper stepped toward the Minotaur cautiously, snarling as her tail flicked back and forth. She slapped her paws at it tentatively, not making contact, but then she lunged swiftly and bit down hard on it's leg.

Cheeper is fighting defensively to gain a +2 Dodge bonus to AC for a total of 19. Removed the Entangle from the map.
