Even without seeing her you reach out with your mind to crush hers.
There is not much remaining, and what little there is, you sense it fade. The bugbear is no more. You each get 60xp.

Mosquito calmly unlocks the door, opens it, walks inside, approaches the the fallen bugbear, kicks it in the head and promptly departs the room.
Next times wees bees meeting un bugbears wees just ignore the Stupids.

Markus relaxes and rubs his temples. It turns out he is close to having a headache himself, from so much magical strain. He says "Let's rest a bit here. This was too much excitement."
After a few breaths he says "Let's also see if this bugbear had anything of value!"
If the group rests, I'll refocus.

"Absolutely we should rest ..."
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
There is not much in what remains of the makeshift fort. Just a few pieces of carrion. The same is not true for the bedchembers around the barracks. In the rooms to the south there is a lesser glue bomb, a lesser flask of bottled lightning, a minor healing potion, and a wolf fang talisman. While in one of the rooms to the west, you find two flasks of holy water.
How long are you resting for? Are you staying in the room to rest?
Kiilo |
Mosquito takes a short glance at the loot found, but the war priest doesn't take anything.
Assuming 10 minutes for Refocus and any Treat Wounds?
oh oh, I think in my head I thought spell recovery rest. Full HP rest. But I am with the group whatever is decided. We certainly made enough noise demoing the fort and with the bugbear yelling.
Markus Swick |
I think a "short rest" is sufficient. Unless you're all out of resources for the big fight.
Markus looks at the loot and says "Mind if I keep this?", referring to the bottled lightning, then says "And maybe this?", referring to the glue bomb.
Kiilo |
Do we have a Medicine person for out of combat?
Yep - Kiilo can do that spell that bards do and can also do normal medicine with Healer's Tool.
Kiilo |
MED(Kiilo): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 122d8 ⇒ (7, 8) = 15
MED(Mosq): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 72d8 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
MED(Markus): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 62d8 ⇒ (8, 1) = 9
Vrosi appears unharmed ...
okay, so, an hour later
MED(Kiilo): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 232d8 ⇒ (7, 6) = 13
MED(Mosq): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 222d8 ⇒ (8, 8) = 16
MED(Markus): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 142d8 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
and hopefully GM will handwave Markus for us

Mosquito nods in gratitude to Kiilo. The Goblin then decides to search those rooms that the stupidest of bugbears was hiding in....

There is not much more of value to find. The beds in the barracks are fairly plain and the higher ranking hellknights took most of their belongings along with them when they left.

Mosquito returns to the group. The goblin looks at the items found. He shrugs.
Mees bees thorough. Everybody's knows dat goblins haves da best eyes...

Kiilo agrees
and to confirm, we did NOT take a spell refresh break
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Weren’t you refocusing and treating wounds? My understanding was that you did refocus during the break.
You open the door to a what was clearly once a kitchen. The black wooden countertop running along the wall to the southwest is dust-covered, and the cupboards and shelves have been stripped of most tools and provisions. Underneath the table in the middle there is a series of cabinets, and running the length of the walls above it, there are several shelves.
Markus Swick |
Upon entering the kitchen, Markus says "Given the last time we encountered a... harmless room, let's not assume there isn't someone hiding here."
Taking his own advice, Markus calls out into the kitchen "Hello? Is someone hiding here?" It takes him a while to see what's wrong with his tactics.
Mosquito. |
Mosquito watches the Wizard yelling at the cabinets. The goblin takes out a sticky note pad, jots down Bees remembers da Restoration spells tomorrow.
The Cleric then decides to join Brilliant Burnis and he begins flinging open cabinet doors....

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Before opening the cupboards to the southwest, Mosquito notices cobwebs coming from the inside and running all the way to the door to the west. Coming in and out of the cracks in the wood of the cupboard there are also dozens of tiny spiders moving about.
Mosquito. |
Mosquito excitedly begins pulling out ingredients, puts on a chef's hat and rubs his hands together.
Youses bees in fer da surprises! Barbeque spider wit da right rubs bees delicious!
Kiilo |
Hell naw if you ask me.
Markus suggests "Let's move on. Nothing interesting or good could come from staying here much longer."
"Not unless we are holding torches under those cabinets before we open them ... I could always check to see if there are any magical auras though."
Kiilo casts Detect Magic
Vrosi Burnis |
Vrosi drops his head, dejectedly, and says, "Brilliant Burnis listen. Go next room."
Then, leading the way (exploration mode Scouting), Vrosi will go south to the next rooom.

You detect no magic besides that of your companions.
Vrosi
There are no rooms towards the south. Do you mean the door to the west? The one connected to the spider cobwebs? Or the door to the north?

I had covered the Compass Rose, so, I assumed that North was up. Vrosi went to the door where I moved his token. So, it is the door to the West
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Vrosi
I don’t know why but I still see you at the entrance to the room. I will move to the room west of that regardless and move all the tokens.
You enter a large training chamber that holds rows of mouldering straw-filled dummies, many of which are wielding wooden replicas of various weapons. Some of them are falling apart. There are more doors connecting with other rooms to the north, east and west, while the collapsed wall to the south leads outside the citadel, and allows natural light to filter through.
Kiilo |
I think I may be a little confused too, but I moved Kiilo's token to the roon with the practice dummies, since that is the last desc we have
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
The fastest way would be towards the centre of the keep, to the north.
You basically went: Barracks (where the combat happened), kitchen, training hall.
Vrosi
You notice something shinning inside the dummies, as you approach, you start picking out silver coins from them. You gather 20 of these coins that have been stuffed inside several of the dummies. As you keep looking around, you notice something odd about the southwestern wall. It seems to have a slit, as if it was the frame of a door.
Vrosi Burnis |
"Look! Brilliant Burnis find coin. Shiny! Oooh! What that? Look that wall. Is door?"
Vrosi will distribute the coins to the party, then will investigate the (possible) door. If it is a door, Vrosi will open it and go inside.
Markus Swick |
Markus stays a little far back from Vrosi, but follows him. His curiosity is fighting his sense of self-preservation. However, before moving on, he says "Wait Vrosi, there could be a trap here.", then moves on to search for traps.

This hidden closet holds dust-furred tables covered in jumbled accessories: pentagram-covered tomes, melted candles, pieces of loose chalk, vats of mouldy incense, moth-eaten robes, and several empty and dusty weapon racks.
A little into the room, where a partial wall divides it in two, the tiling on the floor raises slightly above the rest. I have marked the square with an T on the map

Markus warns "Uhm don't step onto the raised floor. At least not yet." He casts a spell (Detect Magic) and studies the raised floor for a while. Then he tries looking into the tomes to see if he finds whether the raised floor was used in some sort of ritual.
In the meantime, he proposes a discussion "It is unusual to find a hidden room in a Hellknight fortress. Much less one with such symbols on top." He thinks, trying to remember if he remembers seeing this symbol somewhere.
(sickened) Recall knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 = 20
He proposes "Is this maybe related to the downfall of the order in this fortress?" He tries remembering what he knows about the history of this place.
(sickened) Apparently this is a Society roll: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 1 = 17
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Markus
You sense no magic in this room. But you do sense the remnants of occult rituals from the room immediately to the north.
You remember mentions of summoning rituals that involve those occult tomes. Rituals meant to summon devils from Hell. Which means that the weapons that were once stored here were probably silver weapons, as they are particularly effective against devils.
After hypothesising about the downfall of the citadel you remember hearing something about Hellknight trials. In order for armingers to become Hellknights, they need to go through a ceremonial trial where the arminger in question would enter an arena, and a raking spellcaster would summon a devil for the arminger to fight. This would be a fight to the death between the arminger and the devil. Overcoming this trial would make the arminger a full ranking member of the order, bearing the title of Hellknight.

Markus shares what he remembers studying with the others. He says "Ah, interesting! So this must be chambers of a high ranking Hellknight mage, if the tomes are hidden here." He looks at Mosquito and says "I believe this could be useful in case any of us... would like to summon a devil in order to defeat it and become a Hellknight."
He shakes his head to dismiss the thought and says "Well, that's the only reason I'd think of to summon a devil. Hateful tricky creatures. I hope I never have to read these tomes." Still, he stashes them carefully in his backpack. Then he says "There's a chance one or two devils might have gotten lose in here. We might want to look for silver weapons in here, as they are particularly powerful against them."
(sickened) Search: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
There are more empty weapon racks and shelves on the other half of the room, as well as a door leading to a long, empty corridor.
