You all ready up and open the door...
Torches illuminate this fifteen-foot-high chamber. A pair of massive columns of rusted metal loom in large alcoves to the east and south, each fitted with complex hinged armatures and drooping lengths of wire that connect them to one of two large metallic worktables. Gears grind slowly
and glowing crystals periodically pulse from these worktables. A stone well ten feet in diameter stands in the center of the room between the two strange worktables, capped with a stone slab engraved with a singular broad rune with three downward spikes. Bookshelves line the northern wall,
though most of their contents have fallen to ruin—save for one faded red tome near the center of the northern wall.
As you enter, you see three people, one obviously higher ranked then the other two, and they draw knives....

Peat shakes their head. "How long have these beings had control of this place? They've been doing major renovation projects!" They point out to everyone else the signs that this was a library. He goes and gets the red book and begins investigating it. "Perhaps this book has some clues ..."
I don't know how defensible this room seems. It feels like we're surrounded by unknown rooms here, so maybe not the best place. Not sure how many others have burned through their expendables and need to recharge, so I'm fine with being outvoted.

You can easily rest here. Its quite... too quite.. but people do leave you alone. Mostly the place goans in weird ways as even the stones are rusting around you. But you can wake up refreshed and all your stuff back to full.
In the morning you can mess with that book. When you move it, A sluggish clicking sound fills the air in this vast chamber. A wide, rusted metal cylinder stands in the northeast corner of the room. Long cables and articulated armatures attach from the cylinder to cube-shaped devices with ticking gears and monotonously clicking weights that swing in lazy circles. Just west of the metal cylinder, a copper cauldron stands on a rusted iron stand; one of the legs has bent, growing weak from the encroaching rust. The fire under the cauldron has burned down to mere embers.
In the southeast corner sits a stone basin holding a broad, sloped bowl with runes carved along the outside rim. Across from the basin in the southwest corner is a wooden cage built into the stone floor. Chalk-drawn runes surround a circle of chalk drawn around the cage. In the northwest corner, an empty bookcase stands against the wall behind a staircase that descends into darkness.

Ah, when you said the book was "tied to this hidden room" I didn't realize you meant it opened the trap door. I thought you meant the book was about the room in some way. So I wouldn't have moved the book if we were about to rest, and I definitely would have pushed back on resting in a room with a hidden room off of it.

Peat points at the wand of resist energy. "My I use this one? I believe its magic is aligned with the source of my own modest abilities, and might be of use to me."
None of the other spells are divine. I just read the rules on wands and am a little unclear on something. My "spell list" is the divine spell list (from my Oracle dedication), but I can only cast cantrips. So can I cast the level 2 spell from this wand, or would I have to wait until I have level 2 spell slots to cast from it?

my reading that may be very wrong is its not technically on your spell list yet. But random thread on reddit from three years ago contradicts this. That said, I'm happy to let you have the wand and use it since it might be helpful!
