Okay, well, I created this in a backwards sort of way by creating a Gameplay thread, then getting a message saying "hey, do you maybe want to make this a campaign?" If anyone knows a more efficient way of doing this, I would appreciate it.

(It also says the campaign is owned by Donnell "The Fox", which I think was the first alias I created here. Dunno how to change that or if it really matters...)

4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 4) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 5) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3) = 16 15

Not too shabby. I'll re-envision Gideon and see what I come up with. Been playing / GMing PF2 lately so got to put my 5e hat back on :-)

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 4) = 19 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 4) = 11 10

That is pretty good for what I was thinking... So I am looking at either an unarmed Fighter with some minor spellcasting, or a monk (going Four Elements at 3rd) with some illusion magic. Not sure yet which... Will have to think on it...

@Aeshuura: lol -- that's almost exactly the standard array
(15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8)

^_^ I am magic like that! >.<

EDIT: Since I only have 2 odd scores, I may go Variant Human, if that is okay. That way I can either take Healer or another interesting feat...

Leaning toward Fighter, right now. Might go Eldritch Knight down the road, or Champion. Not sure...

Go for it!

Also, feel free to take the Standard Array if you prefer.

My irl friend is planning to join us as well -- he's thinking of a cleric build (I mentioned that Gideon is thinking of continuing as a Light Cleric, so if he does, he'll pick something different to keep it interesting). (Aeshuura, you DMed his character Tana for a little bit in The Black Hand when I was playing Jarprax, the Tempest cleric).

Grand Lodge

Nice! Will be good to have him back on board! I will consider the Standard Array, but I may nix the illusion aspect of the character and keep what I rolled. More fun that way!

Let’s see how this goes.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 3) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) = 10

My usual terrible rolls for stats. Standard array it is.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 1

I'm reimagining Gideon as an unusual member of the famed Dawnbringer Family. Perhaps one born sickly and mostly forgotten and left on his own. I can see an INT based Rogue concept that's basically good, but not always lawful like the rest of his family. He kind of slipped through the cracks of Paladins and Clerics of Lathander, and as long as he mostly stays out of trouble the family elders turn a blind eye to his adventures.

Are we using the Standard Forgotten Realms Pantheon, or something else... Greyhawk???

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

Let's stick to Forgotten Realms, since that's what I'm most familiar with.

I'm still not 100% sure about which adventure to run -- I had a look through some of the Borderlands stuff and, while it's very nostalgic for me, I don't think a dungeon crawl of this kind is going to be very interesting in PbP.

So, I think I might return it and grab one of the ones suggested earlier (Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Keys from the Golden Vault, Storm King's Thunder, Avendryl, others have suggested refitting a PF book...).

Keys from the Golden Vault looks like fun to me. A good mix.

Some others I've liked...

Raiders of the Serpent Sea (Arcanum Worlds)
Aegis of Empires (Legendary Games)
Phandelver and Below... The shattered Obelixk (WOTC)
Many adventures from Necromancer Games

Grand Lodge

Outpost Map

I'm sure there are many fun ones in the DMs Guild as well. I always wanted to go through the Moonshae Isles modules... They are already AL legal, but we don't need to be AL to go through them...

EDIT: In fact, I have a couple of them, if you want them. Baldrick, shoot me an email at my gmail. (noelmock) and I will see if I can get them to you!

Hello Everyone, I play Wykramer. Goodto see Aeshuura again!!! I played Tana Kulenova with him in 2019.

Grand Lodge

Nice to see you again, Wyks! I get to be a player with you! ^_^

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

fyi, I know everyone's still figuring out characters (Wykramer, for example, has "Light Cleric" currently on his profile, but right now he's looking at War Clerics lol). Either way, it doesn't matter to me if we have a party of clerics -- just play what you want :)

Grand Lodge

Outpost Map

Yeah, because of that, I think I am going to go for Cook as my feat, instead of Healer. It can help with Short Rests and temp hp... ^_^

Uh, no idea what to play, brain is fried right. I'll see what other folks wanna play and try to fill in a gap.

Gideon is updated sans background. I kind of know what it's going to be... but wanted to see what everyone else is up to before finalizing.

He is currently residing in his family's estate in Mendev, but ready to leave in search of more knowledge.

I do not care which one.

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

I think I'm going to go with the Moonshae adventure -- it looks cool and (despite it being the first place published about the Realms) I've never played there before. I'll send you some background info when I've read a bit more (hopefully over the weekend).

Grand Lodge

Sounds good!

I have only heard about the Moonshae from the novel back in the 80s but not so much knowledge. Is this a one shot adventure or part of a module?

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

Yeah, I don't know much about the Moonshae yet either (though I grabbed some of the novels from my local 2nd hand shop on my lunch break today). It's fantasy British Islands, for the most part.

The adventure that I have (thanks Aeshuura!) says "four 90-minute adventures" -- basically, four one-shots strung together as a longer adventure. But there are a bunch more in the series online, which I will purchase if this goes well, and we can string it along into a longer campaign.

You can play characters from the Isles if you want, or you can be visitors (willing or unwilling). There are backgrounds for the Moonshae Isles in the Regional Guide that are probably fine to use -- I'll have to review them and post a summary, if you are interested in that.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Rogue 1

Oh. My favorite part of the realms. Might have to rethink Gidean a bit. Good thing we have time.

Happy Thanksgiving, American friends :)

Happy Thanksgiving! After our traditional Turkey Trot walk, we're making a (totally non-)traditional lasagna. It smells reaaaaalllly good in this house right now.

I'd like to know more about the Moonshae Isles backgrounds if it's convenient to post.

Do we have any healers? It could be fun to play a "mom" cleric, or maybe there's a healing type sorcerer I think. Dunno, still undecided.

Actually the novels from the 80 are still pretty relevant to some of the modules. The current regime are descendants of Tristram (spelling) and the Moonshae pools are still an important part of the culture.

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

I'm just going to share the Moonshae Regional Guide (let me know if that link doesn't work)

The Backgrounds are on page 32, but if you have characters from the region, they will probably know some general stuff from this guide anyway. I haven't had a chance to read much of it yet; oh, and there's also the Forgotten Realms Wiki: Moonshae Isles

Grand Lodge

Outpost Map

I may make one of the Viking analogue Northlanders, kind of channeling Ragnar Lodthbrok or Bjorn Ironside... ^_^ It fits my ability rolls...

EDIT: It actually says that they accept other people amongst them, so I may be someone from the Kara-Tur region that was raised and trained amongst them. His parents were merchants from the Far Reaches but died the Moonshaes...

Oo, can I roll on the Moonshae Trinket table? 1d100 ⇒ 65

Ooooh, a wooden bracelet carved in the likeness of the Oroboros (snekk eating its tail!) How appropriate!

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

sounds great!

And yes, I was going to mention the trinket table (or rather, before I decided to share the Resource Guide, I was going to roll on it for you) :)

Grand Lodge

You can roll for me if you like, or if you think the Oroboros is cool, I can keep that one. Whatever you think is more fun...

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

oh no -- it's fine if you roll your own

I only meant that I would have rolled if I had decided not to provide the Regional Guide

The bunny folk might fit perfectly in here!

Hey all, I think maybe some of you are still working on character creation, so here's what I'm thinking: Rather than me do an introductory post that assumes you have already met, each of you should make a post in the Gameplay section that:

1) Gives a brief background of your character (you can spoiler this part or send me a PM if it's for my eyes only)
2) Explains how you arrived at the docks of Caer Callidyrr
3) Describes and introduces your character to the party

For #2, try to incorporate the following:
You've each been visited (in person, in a dream, etc) by Sister Barley, a halfling seer. She tells you that the Earthmother has shown her your future and that terrible trials are coming to the Moonshae Islands. She provides you with these prophecies, and instructs you to find Poppie, captain of the Shantu, in Caer Callidyrr.

Once everyone has posted, I'll push us forward.

(Those prophecies, as with all handouts and maps, can be found in the link under my name)

What is the make up of the party so far?

Not entirely sure.

Gideon: Rogue?
Wykramer: War Cleric?

Sorry about the whole "Mendev" thing. Been playing so much Pathfinder 2 I just teleported Golarion here. :-)

Still like the concept of the offspring of a famous family though. I'll read more of the players guide to come up with a proper background... but have enough to get started, I think.

I've got the beginnings of a Life Cleric sketched out, but now I gotta go do IRL stuff. I'll fiddle with it this evening, see if it still looks good, and set up a new char on here, roll on the table, etc. :-)

Just sent you a PM with the outline of Gideon's history.

Pretty sure I’m going moon Druid. Not sure of a race just yet.

OK Umikh is now Braith ("Bryth" I guess according to pronunciation guides).
For our DM and anyone else interested: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/113561063. Should be public?

I will do the needful within the next day. Every time I get time, I have no time (!!).

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

Awesome!

And no worries -- it's a busy time of year! A month ago, my work decided to give me a huge project that's due by the end of January. After I'd planned out my remaining vacation time, of course...

Ugh, that's no bueno to spring that on you! I'm in digital education, on the IT side, so right now either there's nothing to do or it's on fire because it's about to be winter break and a good time to make major edits/changes. Yesterday was nothing, today was all fire all day lol. (I don't mind any of it, makes life interesting!)

NPCs, Handouts, and Maps

Ha! I work for an online university, but I edit the courses for profs before they go online. Mostly it's fine, but we're dealing with the fallout from decisions made by a former president and a hostile government. So my "nothing / on fire" cycle is quarterly to annually, rather than daily/weekly :)

Not as busy as thesis writing busy, bwhaa haaa haa.
