Angar looks good. One change would be to put his normal AC in the AC field, as he won't always have Earth Armor up.

On a side note, the playtest classes will be allowed in the game.

Sure, I can do that although Armour of Earth will normally be up. It only takes 1 action and lasts 10 minutes at a time.

In THAT case, I will develop an elven Exemplar asap

I like both classes, but Exemplar does seem very cool. Animist is more complex, and would require more careful book keeping, but is also very favorable and interesting.

Presenting Zothan the Seeker, Catfolk Thaumaturge (Regalia Implement), Clan Associate background. Submission by Jacob Trier

"Come now, Ria....you can tell me," Zothan all but purred as he refilled the gnome conservator's cup with the elven fruit wine he brought back from his recent trip to Kyonin. "After all, I shared what I learned about the mating habits of the Dark Naga from that Xulgath shaman. You know how much they stink and me with my sensitive nose."

Under the table, the tip of Zothan's tail flicked back and forth as he sensed that the seductive combination of his words and the fruit wine were wearing away at the gnome's reluctance.

Anyway, I know that it's information from the restricted sections of the Clan Tolorr archives, but I'm practically a clan member in all but name. How many times have I delved the tunnels of the Darklands to bring back some lost trinket or forgotten lore for those very archives? Besides, I'd never tell a soul!" he exclaimed, waving the scepter of Prince M'Quir the Magnificent for emphasis.

Soon, the knowledge he wanted was filed away among the countless snippets of facts, myths and legends that filled his furry head. As he exited the meadhall, he deftly swiped a marinated clove of garlic from the plate of one of the dining guests.

This will come in handy if I ever run into any vampires…or was that werewolves? he thought as he stuffed the clove into one of his many cloak pockets.
--

Party role:

Social An excellent party Face, with high modifiers in both Diplomacy and Intimidate.

Exploration Trained in Survival, can disable traps and is a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge and lore (although sometimes his recollections are a bit unreliable). Can guide other party members with Follow the Expert thanks to his regalia implement.

Combat Striker, debuffer and controller. He’s able to disarm, trip and demoralize as well as finding and exploiting the weaknesses of any opponent. Able to sniff out hidden enemies with his scent.

Appearance:

Zothan is a tall and striking amurrun male with bright yellow eyes and jet-black fur streaked with light grey markings. His movements are graceful and precise, and he usually has an air of cavalier relaxation about him. He is usually clad in dark leather armor studded with polished brass rivets, yellow scarf and a black cloak with numerous hidden pockets, which hold many of his esoteric trinkets. A scorpion whip hangs coiled from his belt along with three razor-sharp chakrams ready to be hurled at enemies at a moment’s notice.

He is rarely seen without his regalia in hand, a gilded scepter topped with a feline head carved from onyx, with tiny garnets set as eyes.

Personality:

Charming and confident, Zothan usually finds a warm welcome anywhere his wanderings take him, from seedy drinking halls to the salons of the high nobility. His nonchalant manners and pleasant disposition are rather infectious, and he tends to lighten the mood of whatever company he happens to find himself in. Like many amurruns, he's driven by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, which has led him of many frequent travels, both through the surface lands of Golarion and the caverns beneath it.

He is helpful and shares knowledge liberally, knowing that the currency of favors and relationships is just as solid as that of gold and silver. When engaged in conversation, he tends to gesture emphatically with his scepter regalia, using it to emphasize key points or make dramatic motions intended to impress or intimidate.

Background:

A native of Highhelm's catfolk population, Zothan is a long-standing associate of Clan Tolorr (and several other clans). The shared love of knowledge and secrets made him a natural ally of the clan, and from an early age Zothan managed to ingratiate himself with several prominent clan members. He has accompanied the dwarves on numerous missions, both above and below ground, and contributed a sizable portion of information from his own explorations to the clan’s repository of knowledge.

Zothan claims that his scepter regalia once belonged to Prince M’Quir the Magnificent, ruler of a long lost catfolk nation. More than once, he has hinted that he is himself a descendant of Prince M’Quir, although no written record exists of the prince, his lineage or his kingdom. However, this does not mean that there is no truth to the tale. After all, countless nations have risen, fallen and faded from memory throughout the history of Golarion, especially in the volatile River Kingdoms along the Sellen River, which Zolthan has traveled on several occasions.

Regardless of the factual truth, there can be no doubt that Zothan excels at making the most of the gravitas the mere suggestion of a regal heritage bestows upon him.

It's a super-tough read so far; does NOT really lend itself to any type of MIN/MAX approach. While it says the primary stats are STR/DEX, nothing else is weighted towards those attributes. You get Religion & Expert Will, so at least a little balance with WIS makes sense. You get a billion HP & Expert Fort, so a little balance with CON makes sense.

At this point, I'm kind of digging through these "Ikons" to look at other paralell impacts and attribute usage; kinda feeling WIS at the moment.

(I also haven't found a way to dump the data from Nexus either)

The only downside to pathbuilder I've found, in this case, is the backgrounds for the sky kings tomb AP haven't been entered yet, so I had to find a background that gave the same stat adjustments and similar skills and then remember to type in the differences on the character here

Tip for anyone else using Pathbuilder: You can enter custom backgrounds and emulate the effects of the AP backgrounds fairly easily.

Well heck. Since the playtest classes are allowed, I think I'm going to make a Rivethun adherent animist and toss them into the ring. Stand by!

Zothan looks good, Everyone is making it hard on me to choose the initial six, and that's a good thing.

Liberty's Edge

Thank you Zothan and Dorian. I realized that and did just that.
Though it didn't dnt allow me to emulate it perfectly , it mostly did the job

I would normally have a character built by now but I'm struggling with a conundrum. I have a very interesting exemplar I'm itching to try, but the dwarf animist I'm about halfway done with feels like a better thematic fit for the AP.

It might take me another day to come to a decision (work is drawing out the process too). This is a tough one!

I feel you. The original idea I had for Zothan was much more of a scout type character, using the lantern implement and the Dedicated Delver background. But I struggled to make everything click together. It took almost a week of minor tweaks before I came to the current submission, which feels much more like a well-rounded character that works both mechanically and in the setting.

My advice would be to take your time and keep tweaking both characters until we’re closer to the submission deadline. GM Lia has stated repeatedly that all characters submitted before the deadline get equal consideration.

Also, don't feel you have to be a dwarf. All ancestries are allowed and suitable.

My goal when I make the final choices, which will be hard, since all the characters are very interesting ones, will be to try and ensure you have a variety of bases covered.

It's also why I did a two week recruitment, to give people time to adjust and tweak things.

Korox Bouldershoulder Background

Spoiler:

Korox seemed too always be angry. He was a crying baby, a tantrum throwing adolescent, and a rebellious teen. He wasn’t mean… just angry. Which made things interesting as his parents and big sister were about as easygoing as can be imagined. In fact, that was the source of much of his anger. It seemed to him they were always being taken advantage of.
His father took his life savings and opened a Theatre in Highhelm to offer entertainment and historical reenactments at a reasonable fee to the citizens. Unfortunately, he seemed to sell a lot of tickets “on account” and when it came time to collect the fees for these tickets nobody ever seemed to have the funds… that made Korox angry.
When he was 16 years old his father mortgaged the theatre in an attempt to keep the doors open and continue to pay the performers. Apparently, he didn’t read the fine print on the contract, and the interest payments resulted in the theatre being repossessed. This unfair and unjust contract execution made Korox angry.
There had to be a way to make these shysters and never-do-wells pay for their taking advantage of things. Finally, Korox found the church of Dranngvit. All the policies of the church made sense to Korox. He had seemed to find a group of likeminded people willing to take the necessary steps to avenge those cheated and wronged. He joined this group and found that this was his destiny.
He spent several years exploring the isolated underground areas around and beneath Highhelm, as well as other subterranean locations in the area. He found he had a knack for finding valuable things, but though he was angry he found an outlet in providing assistance to those who had been wronged and kept very little of this loot for himself.
With his family now taken care of by working in reenactments for House Tolorr, Korox was freed to follow his own path. Through his family’s relationships within this Gold Tier house, he became acquainted with Ria. She used Korox’s skills to help find things of interest to house Tolorr and the residents of Highhelm in general. With finding these common items of interest, he and the gnome became not only work associates but in some ways friends… not by common personality… but by common interests. Exploring and finding things kept Korox from being as angry.
But he still carried this anger inside him. Fortunately, being a priest Dranngvit made that Okay. People might not like or appreciate what the church did… but sometimes necessity overcame desire. That’s where Korox stepped in.

Good luck to everyone, there are a ton of good characters submitted here.

Oh, I know I don't have to be a dwarf, but part of the reason I've been excited for SKT is that I love dwarves, and especially dwarves on Golarion. They have a detailed and nuanced history that I find fascinating, but I haven't had the opportunity to play a dwarf for quite some time.

That being said, the exemplar I made is pretty cool. However, their backstory just isn't coming together as cohesively as the dwarf animist's. I'm going to keep working on it for a couple days, but right now I'm leaning toward the animist. It's a more complex class but it's also very cool. And I've been wanting to play an animist/shaman type character who's a Rivethun adherent for a long time!

Several desires are pulling me in many different directions right now, but whatever I land on, I have no doubt it will be fun.

I'm in the same boat as Apoc Golem. Kilain is a character I played in a tabletop game that lasted til he was 9th level as a fighter/cleric in AD&D.

Trying to relive the joy I had playing him and Thought I have looked at him as a Cleric

.I think in this case ...Champion best suits him.

Okay. Apoc Golem here. I think I have settled on my submission.

I made a really interesting dwarf animist, and I will definitely play him someday because he's got an interesting backstory and the class is fascinating.

But the more I looked at what I had made here with Myōbatsu, the more I fell in love. This is such a weird, creepy guy, and I think he'd be a lot of fun to play. So for your consideration, here is the Night Shepherd!

So what you’re saying is that we can have a cat and a rat in the same party? Perfect recipe for first rate roleplaying. Hilarity ensues.

And oh boy, that backstory is dark! Great stuff. I can see why you couldn’t let this one go.

Yeah, I write horror so I think it seeps into my character backstories. :S

I'll try not to let it into my posts too much, though. Mostly he's just going to brood a lot and have dramatic inner monologues. I see him as a sort of Byronesque character. :D

Two days to go. Make any tweaks you want to by Friday, and Friday morning I'll go over everyone's application again, and try to get the choices made fairly early in the day.

Thank you for the heads up GM

Good morning everyone.

The first thing that I want to say is thank you all for applying. Obviously, we have more applicants than I have slots, and so that means not everyone can make it.

For those of you who don't make it, that doesn't mean you submitted a bad character or anything like that. Anyone who does not make it will be on a reserve list in case of player drops. I'll reach out to people who applied for this game before doing any other recruitment.

As a group, you've all made this decision-making process rather difficult.

The characters that I've chosen are:

Myobatsu
Jaqsiaria
Kilain
Korox
Kapra; and
Angar

For those who made it, feel free to do dot posts on the gameplay and discussion threads.

Congrats to those who made it, hope you have a wonderful game.
