Looking for a few more stalwart players!

*Looks left. Looks right...*

"... Go on."

LOL! I was surprised by your quick post. Here comes build rules!

Creation Rules:

abilities:

I am not a fan of the buy out systems, so roll 5d6 seven times. Taking the three highest of the 5 rolled and adding them together. Six of these will be your stats. Please show the dice rolls on the recruitment page.
One more twist to help your characters to have that little boost to be excellent in what you do. You may take away from one stat and give it to another. But the top stat cannot be more than 18. But only one time.
So for example you have 11 and 15. Take 3 away from 11 and give 15 those 3. So the 11 becomes 8 and 15 becomes 18.

traits:

2 Traits, and one campaign trait. You may take a drawback trait to gain another trait too!
15,000 but your background story is where you can gain more!
Most costly item: 8,000 gp.
Create a quick blurb about your appearance.

background:

The more interesting your background story the more bonuses you might stumble upon or requests granted. Make connections between yourself and other NPCs and PCs. After all you will be carving out a kingdom together. Such connections could be nobility, guilds, entities, dragons, magical beasts, gods, societies, towns, the townsfolk, the people in charge, etc.
I've long thought that character backgrounds are where players should offer plot hooks to the DM instead of the other way around, you then have more buy into the campaign.

Recruitment will close once we have 10 applicants or 5 days after we have four. Whichever comes first.

There will also be a few special awards to the first three players done with character and background.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

7th level players.

We have in play:
Kendryl, Half-celestial half-janni aerial versatile human arcanist 7 (Aerial +0, Half-Janni +0, Hal

Quince, Male kitsune Oracle/Bloodrager 7

Lykàn Delĩss, male Elf CN Gestalt Druid (Nature Fang) / Shifter (Mooncaller) 7

There is like 20+ NPCs
But the sworn defender of Lord Commander Quince is Jorne a warder/rogue may switch over to Slayer.

You will be able to gestalt in the future. You need a special event for that priviledge, hopefully this can happen sooner than later.

So this would be for a regular Lvl 7 character then?

I'm going to assume they don't have to be in straight-row order. Good god though those are some stats. I mean, seriously, only one stat that doesn't have at least a +1 bonus on it? Nice.

Where exactly have you been running this, if you mind me asking? It doesn't seem like you've been fully running it on the forums here.

Either way, as you seemingly have both spellcasting and melee covered, why not a ranged character? In fact, why not go crazier, and do a thrown weapon build? Catfolk Fighter with a focus on thrown weapons, that'd work well I think.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I am fine with another Kitsune, I sure Quince would be good with it too. Right Quince?

A sling staff hits with the staff end as well as the sling. Which makes it a dual weapon. Each would need to be enchanted separately.

Yes we have started from Module 1, each module was put in its own campaign thDuke? Here is the link for the last module.

Oh I should warn you this is a super high magic world at least in Greenwatch. The rest of Golarion is like you know it. Your groups will most likely be coming in as mercenaries to support the Reeves. The Reeves are basically scouts and rangers that patrol the lands. Though you could come to Greenwatch with any occupation in mind. We will be starting in Restov and you likely will gather around the Greenwatch Embassy.

That is correct BerryBunch they don't need to stay in that order. Catfolk Fighter with a focus on thrown weapons, yup I think it will work well!

I will be devoting a lot of time for the rest of the week on getting my classroom ready for the next school year. So my posting will end up at night.

How long do you guys need to make your characters? Shall we aim at September 2nd?!

Query: When Gestalt comes available. Will the PCs retroactively gestalt their earlier levels? How do you view Prestige Classes functioning in Gestalt?

This is AGM Lemming's submission. If you see any errors please let me know.

Actually here, but the Fox 'CS' gives just this link.

Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 3, 6) = 15 = 6 + 3 + 3 = 12
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 4, 5) = 21 = 6 + 5 + 4 = 15
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4, 5) = 17 = 5 + 5 + 4 = 14
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2, 4) = 13 = 4 + 3 + 2 = 9
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 4, 1) = 16 = 5 + 4 + 3 = 12
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 6, 3) = 18 = 6 + 6 + 3 = 15
Stats 5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 6, 3) = 14 = 6 + 3 + 1 = 10

So ability scores are 12, 15, 14, 12, 15, 10

Hmm. Better than average, but with those ability score rules: that was the point.

I have much to consider.

GM Wolf, in your opinion, what roles do the party need?

Any of the leadership roles from the player's guide open? I was thinking Spymaster, or Royal Assassin, prefer the former over the latter.

Very nice! Nothing crazy high, but really good for a MAD character of some type. Thinking...

Scarab Sages

A couple of questions:

1. Will background skills be in use?

2. How many characters are you selecting for the game out of the 10 applications you're looking for?

Zahir ibn Mahmoud ibn Jothan wrote:

When Gestalt comes available and you have 7 levels in 'X', then you gain 7 levels of 'Y'.

If you meet the requirements of a prestige class then you can take likely 5 levels of 'Y' and 2 levels of 'z'. Where 'z' is the prestige class.

My suggestion is to make your proposed adjustments when you gestalt before applying them.

---

We got one finished applicant, how many applicants do we have so far?

---

As Weapon finesse is gone, I suggest that players who would have gained it gain weapon focus of their choice of weapon groups.

Yes everyone should be using background skills.

There is a high chance that I will take 8 players maybe even 10!

Zahir ibn Mahmoud ibn Jothan wrote:

No, with my proposed introduction of your characters as mercenaries that would likely be a very good choice! Not necessary but very welcomed!

Jorrast Feorte -Fox wrote:

Technically you are coming into the game as a mercenary or for another kind of job. All Council members are established though with your diligent efforts you should be able to claim one of the roles of leadership. This will happen in gameplay or maybe discussion.

TheWaskally wrote:

Well that is hard to really say. I don't know which roles we are missing. Technically we have an arcanist focusing on flying, an Oracle/Bloodrager 7 which is technically a little bit of a lot of things, and a Druid (Nature Fang) / Shifter (Mooncaller), which basically covers druid! Though as you know each class has so many archetypes that a rogue could become like a witch, or a paladin could gain the abilities of a monk, to name a few.

What we need are players! Create the character you want to play, maybe make sure your class is not the same as the others. Hopefully someone can make a list of the applicants!

But if you want a specific role on the Council you may want to make sure you have the required ability score to surpass those who hold the title at the moment!

Scarab Sages

I'm making a Cartographer/Natural Philosopher Investigator. Maybe done today but building to 7th level is time consuming so it may take longer.

What did I miss? Weapon Finesse gone?

Elephant in The room, no Tax rules. Yeah they made a lot of great changes clumping things together.

So Weapon Finesse is applied to all light weapons it is no longer a feat.

I'm completely familiar with those rules, I just didn't see where you were using them for this game.

I've modified Zsófia Dobós for this campaign -- I've done all the stats, but I might need to adjust the background to bring her up to level 7 and explain better what she's doing here if you accept her. She's a Rostland Bravo swashbuckler and a Devoted Muse of Shelyn.

This is Berry Bunch, BTW. I would have gotten it done last night but the website hit me with the "took too long, so you lose everything". So the backstory's a bit shorter, and I didn't really have any good ideas on how to 'hook' them into what's going on in Elkheart.

Yeah I think I forgot to add them to character generation.

Here are our completed list so far: 3
Jorrast Feorte -Fox: Jorrast Feorte: Rogue(Unchained)/Sylvan Trickster
Zsófia Dobós: Swashbuckler (Rostland Bravo) 5 / Devoted Muse 2

Yeah I hate when it does that, I usually make my posts and especially my characters in google docs and transfer them over.

Would the group prefer an archer or lancer Sable Company Marine?

For anyone wondering, until 8th level, a Sable Company Marine cannot actually ride his/her hippogriff in flight.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

So you're looking for a 7th level character, that will eventually be a gestalt character, but currently base level 7, and it looks like both divine and arcane magic are pretty covered right now. Does that about cover it?

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I offer Vandomir Jarvis of House Orlovsky of Brevoy. Also descended from a distaff line of House Jarvis of Kintargo. Formerly a member of the elite Sable Company Marines, but now a deserter and mercenary.

And, of course, his stalwart companion, Rocinian.

Here's Eris Northanger, a well educated, wilderness Scarlet Pimpernel type who's taking a break from smuggling refugees wanted by Galt to the River Kingdoms.

I'll probably work on the background a little more, but I believe she's more or less ready to go.

"Greetings! Gents and Ladymen! Have No Fear! For, it is I, Xandarian Quartermain, most holy and humble paladin of Cayden Cailean (character concept approved by GM Wolf), here to SAVE THE DAY!!"

Everything's done, but the backstory, which I shall complete sometime later today.

Background Idea:
I was just doing by business as a Merc in Abbadon, it went pretty well, the Nocticulans pay proberly, and that that f$!~ing devil whatever hits me with a banishment! The f+~& where am I even? Oh well, Abyssal mercenary, have axe will travel am more intelligent by far then people think!

What, our colonel did what? Get into a salary dispute with Nocticula? And now his elite formation is missing so is he? Uhhhmmmm.... SHIT I NEED TO JOIN ANOTHER MERC GROUP RIGHT F@&%ING NOW!

Need to adjust stats and subtract a level and alter background.

I've updated Zsófia's background to explain why she is traveling south to Greenwatch with a group of mercenaries.

I have some ideas for what she can do to assist the High Council in their endeavors for a year. First she will meet her cohort and learn about what has been happening in the kingdom, likely at a Crystalhue festival on the winter solstice that she will organize if no one else does.

Then she will take on the role of marshal and travel to the Narlmarches to survey the land and ensure there are no overt threats that would hinder settlers and trade. (If she has to patrol other regions as well, that is fine, but it's the Narlmarches she is most interested in.) Ideally she will discover where the village of Narlmarket was once located and she can put into motion its refounding, as well as the re-establishment of the Marchfort and the watchtower at Ironguard. As part of that, she will need to make sure that trade routes to Mivon are safe and accessible.

While touring the hinterlands, she will try to influence the culture of the backwoods by instituting nonlethal dueling as a method of settling disputes and matters of honor. Besides being a system of justice ideal for backwoods regions with few trappings of civilization, she also believes it to be a beautiful spectacle, a little bit of Brevic refinement to influence these wild lands.

I saw something in the other thread about wishes. I'm wondering: is it appropriate and acceptable to wish for some things that are less mechanical and more story-based? For example, wishing for a priest of Shelyn to take up residence in the capitol and establish a temple? Or wishing for her cohort's family to find their way back to their former stronghold and re-establish their settlement? How about wishing for kingdom resources, like a silver mine or an area of great magical power?

Chyrone give me a link.
Ok folks let's move completed submission ls to discussion and double check who we have!

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Looks like I was a bit late on this and you already have your 10 applicants. Let me know if I'm wrong.

If not I'm considering a Savage, or Invulnerable Rager barbarian (eventually gestalting with Goliath Druid. A primal warrior from an isolated region somewhere in the stolen lands recruited as a mercenary.

Spherewalker

I would have linked before, were it not the end of coffee break. :)

Mark I will accept 11 applicants! When in doubt you could also come in later.

Ah! The end of a coffee break. :( thx.
As long as you meet the prerequisites I am fine with you taking Spherewalker as a prestige class.

I count a total of five in discussion. Please check in there when you can even if your submission is not complete. Our original plan was to aim for the 1st but let me know if you can get it done sooner.

The Recruitment is now closed.

Though if you have any more questions about your character creation please let me know here or in a PM. I hope to see you all posting daily so that we can get into a pace before we actually start. Gameplay is technically open but I want to get logistics of where and how your character joins Greenwatch solidified in Discussion first.

As a reminder this recuitment is closed now. No new applicants. To that end all players should post in Discussion, or if you miss your appointment with Bearik, as he is making contracts with retainers in Discussion, then you can bypass and go to gameplay.

GM, one final (probably) question, about your approval of a feat.

Its page also links to an online tool to do the math.
