Within a days march by foot through forest and such, you see Tazylewyrm along the river.

You are greeting by Bearik and a platoon of soldiers in fine uniform armor. An aasimar is upon the back of a riding dragon at attention with the soldiers.

He quickly offers, "I have already spoken with Lord Commander Quince and Jorne. We know of the travesities of Drelev and welcome all those who aided us to come back to Elkheart. Tazylewyrm is not as settled as Elkheart so we shall take our guests there and see to their needs before anything is decided. Unless someone objects?"

If no one objects a squad with the mounted riding dragon, goes through the waypoint crystal first. Followed by the 'civilians', then the rest of the platoon of soldiers, followed by the barbarians, followed by your group.

Though she is quite happy to comply, Zsófia cannot let an opening like that go unanswered. "No objections here," she says with a shake of her head, causing the ribbons in her hair to shine brightly and the plume in her cap to wobble amusingly. "Thank you for meeting us again, Bearik," she says with what sounds like genuine affection. "I look forward to seeing the delights your capital city offers, and perhaps to meet the other members of the governing council?"

Jorrast lands near Bearik and gets his attention while the group is going through. "We do have scouts out toward Drelev right? Watching in case they launch a more serious army this way? Or should some of us stay out here?"

Hearing 'Lord Baerik' speak about one settlement over another, she's feeling rather positive.

Towards the (former?) conscripted people, she turns her head.
"Sounds like an opportunity to get yourselves possibly settled for the time being."

Her familiar, Stella, seems in good spirits too, singing enthusiastically.

During the march Quince takes some time to speak with various folk who surrendered. Expressing concern for those who have family in peril. Careful to make no promises but expressing hope to see the end of that situation. Feeling out if Drelev still has leverage on them that are willing to act on.

He also moves among the Tiger Lord barbarians. Knowing them as Gorumites, specifically looking for folk expressing whether or not they are on the wrong side of this fight not just that they were nearly destroyed and beaten but if their leader Armag would or should align with us or leave the fight all together. Do they hope to go home or do they want free of Armag as much as the commoners want free of Drelev.

He nods in a friendly manner. "Greetings brother. We may need to raise the muster in the coming days. Many of our folk understand defending their homes. Marching through swamps to bring it to a city that's a different type of fight."

"We are sending some well armed and skilled 'merchants' to the city now to get a feel of things directly. But yes. Tazleford has patrols already. We will definitely give them more aid. For just that reason."

He replies sagely to the kitsume, "I am not in charge of said things, though Stalker has been quickly making arrangements with Kevros who is in charge of such forces, the Reaves. No, there is no reason to stay behind as we can quickly return and we have not seen any such armies. I am sure the next step will be to reward your group for a fine job accomplished, and set you out to your next one of taking care of Delrev."DM may have forgotten if they are actually called the Reaves or something else.

His smile broadens at seeing his son-in-law and his demeanor quickly changes to that of a cat holding a mouse, "Elkheart is wonderful, especially with so many more workers to fill some roles we needed filled. Ah yes, those documents are being searched for presently in our great library and in several in Brevoy. The preliminary report is very positive, Drelev gained the Stolenlands slot due to cashing in his last few favors before leaving Brevoy. We do not think there is any house that will be affected by his removal. Also once we see who he is connected to more we will make sure presents are suitable for their loss as we have done before."

Many would voice their thoughts that Drelev might still have leverage over them but how would he learn of their failure as all the soldiers were rounded up. They express their hope in your ability to handle the situation. Even more people are looking toward you for hope!

Some of the leaders speak up and tell you that Armag is only their leader as he has won every battle of challenge. He has the Dark Sisters also backing him up and their sacrifices and rituals are horrible indeed.

They do hope to return home and return to family roving rather than this war tribunal. They also do not speak badly of Armag.

Stalker relays with curiosity, "Indeed I do remember Grigori. I have a few agents staged in Pitax since that occurrence. Should I engender a few more? I will make an appointment to go to Pitax in the next week or two. I may also request Bearik's expertise. We will find out if there is any connections to Drelev from Pitax before the siege begins. Perhaps not before the situation has been settled knowing the power of our group and that of these new helpers."

Yes of course it is Saren.

The man atop the dragon waves his hand in response, then with his knees the dragon walks forward to be in proximity of Bearik and Quince besides the others. With an almost boyish response he states, "Brother, how was the hunt? How many trolls did you take down!" He gets down and comes over to give Quince a hug. At the words that Quince paints a picture with he states, "At this point, the army is ready to serve. After your 'Mercenary Squad', you really need to come up with a better name for it, hits Drelev we will march out getting ready for occupation with wagons full of food, drink, and musical accompaniment!"

@Quince: Jorrast nods at the word of 'merchants' and Tazleford's patrols. He holds out the wands that he had borrowed and the cloak of flying. "That is great to hear. I would volunteer for duty there, but as an unknown I might be more distraction than help. I'll stay with this group until the next foray. Thank you for the use of the wings and wands. They were greatly different from my usual style of fighting. But my usual style hasn't been against armies before. I'll train for more effective use of such items in the future."

He has his own ability to fly, but only for a few minutes per day. I don't remember who he got the wings/cloak from. ??

"Jorne cuts up and after that its all explosions. Hard to count." He chuckles.

Kevros had the handle on the Reeves (basically roaming forest sheriffs i.e. Rangers). Tristan headed up the defensive units like the Elkheart Guard, though each of the cities would have similar full time defensive units. Saren was responsible for the army, officers and training of local militia, though as big as we are getting, probably some specialized units at this point.

LOL, I think Zsófia can easily pick up what Bearik is throwing down. :)

Zsófia returns Bearik's wink with an apparently straightforward, innocent expression, then with an almost ironic salute she turns her mount to ride back to Chizzlall and Rumbles to continue their conversation.

Once they reach Tazlford she is laughing pleasantly and seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the journey. She makes ready to step through the portal, and as soon as she arrives she immediately instructs the stewards that she will need a double room, so that her gnome friend can stay with her. His eyes widen and he tries to beg off, muttering anxiously that "No-need, Chizzlall is happy to-stay with Rumbles in-the-outside, color-lady--", but Zsófia will brook no objection and insists.

Perhaps because she has been near so many army folk in the last day, she uses the military term for assistant: "Chizzlall is my batman," she says seriously, making arrangements despite his aversions. "I require him to be by my side at all hours, day or night, so that when I give the signal he is ready."

"Chizzlall does-not feel-like much-of-a batman," he grumbles to himself. "Chizzlall does-not have-wings. Though maybe it-is because Chizzlall can-see in-dark? Chizzlall is-the-night, no. This will-go-bad for Chizzlall. No, no-no-no. Not bat-man."

Rumbles is allowed into the suite as well, but nervously curls up near the fireplace and tries not to get any of the clean surroundings on him. He licks himself and looks disaffected, but still jumps every time anyone moves. Chizzlall takes a little time to brush his fur while Zsófia takes a short rest.

Then Zsófia washes herself in the bath that has been prepared and puts on her finest clothes. She does so as quickly as she can, calling for Chizzlall to come and help her. He is embarrassed and refuses to look at her until she is at least wearing undergarments. She rolls her eyes and points out that she doesn't need help with the undergarments, she is already wearing them, and he warily steps into the room, still keeping his head down, and stands awkwardly nearby as she does everything. She wrinkles her nose when she smells that he hasn't bathed and insists that he does so while she dresses. He grumbles and complies, chucking and tsking to himself that he is going to lose his lovely dirt-shield.

When the three of them arrive at the council chambers in preparation for the meeting, they are positively gleaming.

As the group returns to Elkheart and starts to get settled and ready to split off to rest and baths Quince makes his way to each.

He relays that he does appreciate her. Though the intonation to a guest chair is subjugated by the implication of something more. Though with mention of round table, he is obviously stating all Council members are equal. He knows her ambition and goals!

When Quince thanks Jorrast for his actions he looks a bit confused. "My hope is that I can do much more, and maybe earn a place here. My skills aren't great against armies like that though. I'm more of a scout and tracker, very good at not being seen. And I'm a bit of a linguist. But, I'll do my best wherever there's a place for me."

When he finds the bath in the room he quickly strips off his equipment and slips in. He relaxes for a short while, then changes shape to fox form and enjoys a short swim before scrubbing at his fur. Climbing out he shakes himself a little and proceeds to roll on a towel to dry himself, then changes back to his normal form to finish. Dressing quickly he returns to the counsel chambers.

As Ulricha is led to a private room, the stalwart warrior indulges in the opportunity to relax. Setting aside her gear and stripping off her armor and clothing, she thoroughly enjoys the luxury of a hot bath, a rare and enjoyable departure from her usual experience with cold, lakes, rivers, and streams out in the wilds. Not that the cold bothered her, but the luxurious heat was a delight after a battle, and did wonders for washing the blood out of her hair.

Thoroughly relaxed, she dries off, taking the time to tend to cleaning her weapons and armor, before getting dressed and heading to meet the others for whatever formal gathering was planned.

Alice enjoys the relaxing luxury of a warm bath, leaning back pondering the past week she had been traveling.

Her spirit familiar flies around the room to check everything out, before perching itself on the other edge of the bath. Alice smiles.

"Does it matter, seeing my companion utilize a well deserved relaxation?"

You also find out most of the Council members privately have dinner in the trophy room or the arbertrainium. The room with trees and a depiction of the night sky...

Xandarian's handler directs the paladin and his divine emissary to the Greeting Hall, where he is instructed to sit down and receive his monthly wage.

He opens his bag to see it fulled with 600gp, a small card with the official seal of Greenwatch. Both aasimar and hare read the well-crafted card.

Attention: The holder of this card, Xandarian Quartermain, and Associates, are under the employ of the Greenwatch Council. Therefore, any and all bar tabs with all drink and beverage receipts, are to be turned into Greenwatch Council offices before the end of the current month for full payment.
And the card is signed by various members of the Greenwatch Council.

Xandarian and Boffy loudly laugh with joy, celebrating their newfound benefit of being a soldier of Greenwatch. "Bearik kept his word! AHAHAHAHa-hahahaha!"

Boffy pointed out one other piece of parchment in the bag. Xandarian pulled it out and read it enthusiastically.

Again, both aasimar and hare stared at the parchment, then each other, than back at the parchment.

Xanadarian'e eyes began to water. The paladin quickly scooped Boffy in his arms and hugged him.

"T-Thanks for everything, Boffy", Xandarian said into the squirming furry body of Boffy. The aasimar let the hare go back on the table and he stood up, holding the parchment, backing away from the table. It appears he was trying to make himself some room.

Holding the wish parchment aloft, Xandarian cried to the full Greeting Room, "I wish I became a half-celestial!!"

BOOOM!!

A huge and loud flash of light engulfed the paladin. Once the light receded, Xandarian stood transformed. Xandarian's appearance looked more refined than before. And to some observers, the paladin appeared to have grown 6 inches taller. Spread out behind Xandarian, two large rainbow-feathered wings sprouted seamlessly out of the paladin's armored back. Boffy, clearly amazed, began to applaud the caydenite paladin with his little bunny paws.

Zsófia, freshly washed and dressed slightly better than she had been, enters the Greeting Hall with Chizzlall and Rumbles in tow. When offered a chair, she gladly accepts, and Chizzlall and Rumbles stand a bit awkwardly behind her. The gnome sits down on the floor and resumes brushing the rivercat's green-hued fur.

Zsófia politely accepts her reward, murmuring "By Shelyn's grace," but does not open it yet. She watches the others with a dancing light in her eyes, apparently pleased to see what they discover in their goodie bags. "Ah! Congratulations!" she cheers, applauding Xandarian's marvelous transformation, and looking over to see how their hosts react.

Jorrast watches Xandarian open the bag with his reward and become a half-celestial. He is pleased as the man seems very happy with the change, and he considers what he might want. He isn't any sort of angel or fiend so that option is out. A wish could make him smarter, stronger, or faster.... But that could come from time and experience.

Could the wish be used to upgrade my weapon? It is currently only +1. Would like to upgrade to +2 and add the Dueling property to it. That would be a 20K GP upgrade. 6K for +1 to +2 and 14K for dueling.

After a bit of maniacal laughter smoke appears above your head, some pyrotechnics as flames get larger and several crashes of thunder. Then the smoke begins to take shape with his bottom half as smoke the Efreeti comes down to the greeting hall and those assembled. He floats slowly down to Xandarian and nods, "Good a seamless transformation is for the best, now for your quests... unless you wish to gamble with curses. Now before it becomes permanent you need to sign this contract." Which he unscrolls and then continues, "The contract binds you to the defense of Greenwatch, not to me or another but the country."

He floats over and materializes legs before sitting down and pointedly states, "I do enjoy theatrics! I don't get to very often."

Ulricha is guided to her seat, accepting the payment and looking on as Xandrian makes his wish, observing the transformation in stunned silence. As the ifrit makes a dramatic appearance, she reaches for a weapon, relaxing slightly when she realizes there is no immediate threat.

The talk of signing allegiance was a bit concerning, and she listens for the response as she considers what she would have of this unexpected offer.

Xandarian looks down at his divine emissary. Boffy looks up at his charge with a mild shrug. The hare then makes a pointed stare at the drink voucher in Xandarian's hand, so the paladin can notice it. Then gives another half-shrug.
"ARGH!" The caydenite exclaims. "This is fuçking with my caydenite sensibilities! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! FUÇK! FINE! GODS-DAMMIT!"
An very frustrated half-azata accepts the efreeti's pen and signs the contract angrily.

Vandomir accepts his bag of gold, but upon learning that making a wish, and having it granted, is conditional to taking an oath to the djinn, he declines any such honor. "When I put on the uniform of the Mercenary Brigade, I took upon myself the obligation to honorably defend Greenwatch. My word is good, and I see no need to reinforce such an obligation with an arcane pact with the genie, however well intentioned it may be."

Like Vandomir, Alice has some doubts. Contracts obligate, and she would definitely travel more in life, such was a personal goal.

Her spirit animal seemed to sense this, rubbing its head against her neck in an effort to show support, as it can't use hands to place on her shoulder in support.

Not making the wish yet, Alice has a more careful look at the contract, trying to spot 2 things.

1) Fine print that would make the contract unfavorable for the ones signing it. This is an efreet after all.
2) A possible loophole to escape the contract, in case of unforeseen circumstances.
