Gox dances around rat 1 successfully interfering with its reflexes, just before he bonks it with his fist once. It’s still moving.
The Lushy Celosia scurries down the stairs blasting the Orange rat partially and the green rat fully with an arc of electricity.
Tain whines up and strikes the green rat killing it with one massive blow.
The cleric Mikhail prays to Pharasma to heal Ultima as he continues to protect Gox with a magic ward. Healing power surrounds Ultima healing her completely.
Ultima moves back and uses her powers to strike the Orange and Cyan rats with electricity. The Orange rat avoids some of the damage, but the Cyan rat takes the full damage due to Gox’s dancing and dies. The Orange rat is still up.
Stepping up Perrik offers divine guidance to Tain then magically shields himself.
Once it’s had the taste of the old woman the Orange rat can’t get enough as it steps forward biting Ultima once more!

**** Combat is Over ****
After the last rat falls, your group remains on guard for a few moments until you are sure no more rats will attack.
The cellar is now safe but in the east wall is a large hole, opening into darkness where the rats emerged from and more creatures could lurk just beyond.
What may be the party’s more immediate concern is that two party members are wounded.

Goxomas sits down, and, inbetween drinks, says, "Well, we've gotten rid of the rats. Should we go upstairs, collect our 'reward', tell them about the hole, and ask for more money for investigating the hole? Or, should we just go ahead and include it for the reward we're already getting?"
"I think we should ask for more money. Or, at least more wine. Oh, and some healing for the rat bites."
Celosia Persephone Snapdragon
|
Celosia shrinks back into the shadows a bit. "I think we should look and ask for money afterwards. I'm sure she wouldn't try to cheat us..." Creeping up to the edge of the hole, she casts dancing lights and sends them ahead to see what's down there.
When nothing else leaps out to attack, she heaves a sigh of relief and straightening up turns back to the injured folks. "I'm sorry, I'm not very good at medicining fleshies. Plants are much easier. I'll try if you want, but is anyone else able to help?"
Mikhail Duskborn
"If you give me a few minutes I can try to patch you up." Mikhail says as he begins pulling out a set of healers tools from his bag.
Treat Wounds (DC15) (Tain): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Healing: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Treat Wounds (DC15) (Ultima): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Healing: 4d8 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 5) = 15
This will take 20 minutes (10 for each) unless some else is trained in Medicine and can take one.
Tain Hekkanen
Tain only realises he is hurt after the battle is over.
”Aargh. Little viprous beast.”
He watches carefully as Mikhail treats his wound.
”Thank you Mikhail…”
He looks over toward Celosia.
”I think we press on - I’m sure the reward is for ending the threat, not just discovering the initial foray…”
Tain Hekkanen
Tain nods.
”Sure, I…ah…can’t see too well in the dark with these poor human eyes.” he says with a wry grin.
”And if it makes me a beacon of a target, I can always chuck the shield…as long as it lands face up…”Tain taps the front of the shield for good measure.
Mikhail Duskborn
Mikhail puts his healing kit back in his pack and pulls his dagger and shield back out. He ducks into the hole following Gox and his glowing wine jug.

Having healed up, the group decides to push forward.
Squeezing through the hole, you find yourself in a cavern that seems to stretch endlessly beneath the streets of Otari. Who knows what menace could be lurking down here? Up ahead, the passageway ends in a cliff that plunges sharply into the darkness that is only lit by the light your group provides. With four light sources, the cave is fairly well-lit out to 20 feet.
The cliff is only 10 feet tall, but the surface is slick with moisture making it more treacherous to descend by skill alone.
(Anyone attempting to climb down please make an Athletics skill check.)

Is it only ten feet down? If so...
Goxomas will get out a rope, and hold it. "Here, everyone. Climb down using the rope I brought if you're decent enough at climbing. Else, I'll lower you down one at a time."
Celosia Persephone Snapdragon

Celosia shakes a little as she follows the group into the darkness.
"I would much rather be lowered down, sir. My cousin is good at climbing. And falling. But I'm not. Everyone else can go ahead, please?" she whispers to Goxomas. She looks longingly back at the light before focusing on the cave areas ahed.
Tain Hekkanen
Tain stows his shield on his back and, grabbing Gox’s offered rope, begins the slippery climb, the light on his shield bobbing this way and that along the face of the opposite walls as he moves down…

Tain, with your STR I don't think you take a penalty to your Athletics check. Remember that you ignore the penalty if your STR matches or exceeds the armor's threshold; in this case, it's 14, and you have a 16 STR.
Mikhail Duskborn
Mikhail nods his thanks to Gox, grabs a hold of the rope and begins to climb down.

Goxomaxs pulls out a rope to help everyone climb down the cliff.
Tain is the first one to descend the rope and cliff making it look easy even while wearing all his gear and armor. Goxomas gunts from holding the heavy load on the rope but maintains his grip.
No rats jump out, but Tain does notice the cave continues to the north into the darkness.
With Goxomaxs’ rope, the climb is easy. Ultima, Goxomas, and Perrik make it down on their first attempt. Mikhail makes no progress on his first attempt but makes it on the second attempt. Celosia takes a few attempts, but she doesn't fall.
(With the rope it is a DC10 check and you only fall if you critically fail. IE nat 1)

Does Goxomaxs leave the rope attached for climbing back up?
Pushing forward.
The tunnel continues deeper underground, eventually opening into a large chamber. Patches of glowing blue fungus cling to the ceiling and provide dim light. You can just barely make out vast strands of webbing across the floor and walls of this cavern, stretching between stalactites like shimmering curtains.
Tain Hekkanen
”Ugh…spiders?!?” says Tain in a low voice, lighting up the edges of the chamber with his shield.
Goxomas
Goxomas will collect his rope, get his climbing gear out, and attempt to climb down: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Then, with his lit wine jugs, will take the lead, scouting out their path.

Celosia doesn't see any spiders from the cavern entrance.
The caves are damp and while fire will damage the webs it touches you don't think they will catch fire.

Oh, not Tain, then, unless looking around for spiders, traps, trap-spiders or spider-traps counts as fulfilling the “Search” exploration activity. I can’t see what else he might be doing, having checked the Exploration tab on AoN…

Mikhail also takes a look around the cavern, trying to see if any creatures like the rats are hiding in the shadows.

Standing at the entrance to the web cave the group discusses their options while seeking any signs of movement.
Celosia determines that while the webs are thick enough to slow your movement they are not sticky enough to hold you. (Treat all squares with webbing as difficult terrain. Cost an extra 5 feet of movement)
The creature is currently not threatening.

Tain lets out an exhalation of breath.
”Whelp, there is definitely something with plenty of eyes up over there. I don’t know where exactly, but…generally over…there.” Tain indicates the rough position with his blade.
”Whatever it is, it isn’t actively aggressive. For now.” he adds helpfully.

Tain points out to the group where the creature is hiding.
Ultima looks around the cave but doesn’t recognize anything beyond the webs and natural cave features. (Note GM rolled the secrete check. It’s ok to post the check bonus in the future.)
Perrik keeps watch as Goxomas scouts about.
Goxomas disturbs some webs pulling them along as the group moves into the cave. The movement in the webbing alerts its owner to the presents of food!
