Lorenzo Cappelli:
Moses nods.

Once the glass is handed to him, he looks a bit anxious. He sighs and takes down the blood. He takes a step backward for a moment, and shivers, "Doctor. Your vitae is most potent. My apologies".

He quickly recovers listening to your requests.

"Oh yes. Arcadius Mesopotamites is the overseer of Narses Ghouls.

He is quite literally, hundreds of years old and may in some respects, be more formidable than some young of your kind.

The Prince's network contains at least fifteen and perhaps upwards of thirty Ghouls. Of these, I personally know six. I do not know where they stay but I can certainly get in touch with them. I was always a bit curious to know but assumed that such knowledge would be the death of me".

Moses appears taken aback, "Hunters took you prisoner? My Lord, how were you freed?" He is so shocked by the revelation that he has not processed the request.

You easily follow alongside Andrew with rooftop leaps. Once you reach your own location, you head through the trap door on the roof and get to the ground floor to let Andrew in.

Perception+Alertness DC 7 - 1 Success:
You hear heavy footfalls, many heading in this direction. Not quite running but moving quickly along with the jingle of armor.

Andrews Roll:
Perception+Alertness roll DC 7 4d10 + 3d10 ⇒ (5, 10, 4, 8) + (8, 10, 10) = 55

Andrew quickly enters and shuts the door behind him plunging the space back into darkness, he pauses, remaining still and listen at the door.

Looks like we made it. I'll gather some things...

Alessandro moves to grab cloaks and a sword. With a few other weapons cleverly disguised as part of a shipment.

Moslems were always under threat by one faction or another, including criminals. Officials rarely protected their rights as vigorously as Christians'.

You need a weapon?

Perception+Alertness DC 7, Auspex 2?: 3d10 + 2d10 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) + (2, 1) = 13

Andrew shakes his head, "Ah think those ruffians movin' 'bout were more o' them Hunters.

Ah'm guessin' they went ta' get reinforced when they turned tha' corner an yerself had disappeared, tho' I doubt tha' they would have crossed blades in even numbers either.

Ah'm sure tha' they recognized me by mah gait. Ah'm thinkin' we're goin' ta need ta' wait a bit 'fore we head out, ah' no one fer leapin roof ta' roof if ye take my meanin'. My only drop in is ta' hit the ground in any attempts ta' do so".

He grins then turns around and takes a seat, "Ah've Baldemar's sword. Teutonic. Higher quality than mah' own Blade tho' ah' need ta' consecrate this soon".

He accepts the cloak you hand over, "So, as we've time Alessandro, tell me more 'bout yerself. If'n we're ta' bleed tagether, an we just may even this night, I'd like ta' know more 'bout tha' man ah stand aside. Truth be told, ah've had little discourse wit' a Saracen but ah've tha' sense yer, ah cosmopolite. Whereas as this is tha' first trip ah've ever had off o' me island".

"A group of fellow Cainites freed a number of us from captivity. Fortunately these hunters seemed more interested in knowledge than immediately destroying us, but there were a number among the captured that did not survive." Lorenzo explains. "But you know this already, my friend, has something else happened? That is why I need you to scout out the Mausoleum."

I'm working under the assumption that this has slipped your mind given the time since that scene occurred, or do you need a roll from me?

"Speaking of survival, you do know that Narses is no more, right? The city is currently under the control of an ancient Cappadocian known as Bion. Three of Narses's childer audition for the role of Prince, with Bion being the judge of who is worthy. That is why I ask about his ghouls. I would imagine all would be useful and in search of new sponsors, provided his childer have not already assumed those rolls. Can you get in contact with those that you do know to ascertain their status, particularly this Arcadius?"

Lorenzo Cappelli:
Moses shales his head, "My apologies, perhaps lack of blood caused me to forget, or perhaps I am just showing my age!" he chuckles at his own joke.

Moses whistles, "The mighty Narses has been slain? BY these Hunters?

I have only had direct contact with Brexiano, a Nosferatu known as Niccolo, and you with respect to your kind. Well, until recently. No other names of your kind are known to me.

Brexiano recruited me once he assumed the mantle of Seneschal several decades ago. He mentioned that his role was prior served by a Childe of Narses who is now Prince of Padua. The impression I had was that Narses began to distrust his own Childe and rather than slay him, pushed him far enough away to break his control of Narses web of contacts, but close enough that he could still retain influence over him, I do not recall that Vampires name though".

Moses pauses, "I wonder if this is why Brexiano too was slain, perhaps Narses trust only extends so far for so long, or used to at any rate".

He pauses for a few more moments, "I have contacts of my own that I will send to the Giovanni residence. As a Saracen, especially one of my height, I will be easily spotted. What should I tell my contact to look for to ascertain signs that these Hunters remain there?

I will spend my time tomorrow locating Arcadius, do you wish to speak with him in person?"

Crap, I thought Moses knew, I should have done the search to confirm, I did indeed forget!

No worries :)

"I do not know who slew Narses, just that he is gone. I have heard of this Niccolo, or that at least there are number of Nosferatu who may use that name, according to Onfroi at least. Is it this Niccolo who put you in contact with Ferdinand?"

Lorenzo nods, "No doubts Narses was paranoid - well perhaps not paranoid given his current state, but I too wonder if Brexiano died at Narses's behest. Yes, I would like to speak with Arcadius in person if possible, even more so should he still seek a new sponsor. Unfortunately, I am beginning to learn that one can never have too many allies."

"As far as the Mausoleum goes, yes, ascertain whether these hunters still remain there, and if not who does. If the hunters are no longer there, I would assume the building to be empty of physical beings, unless Benne has returned." he says, Benne's name figuratively dripping dripping with venom.

First trip, huh... you really gotta work on your timing, Scotsman.

Bowing. Just the son of an Egyptian merchant and sailor. Venice is my home and heart. Alessandro chuckles. Maybe that's my problem, Venice is my heart... so whatever was done to me, my heart still beats.

Waving off sentimentality. Formally, Alessandro Khadaji, Childe of Alyssa Fitz Gilbert. Childe of Vander Fitz Gilbert. Childe of Raoul Snake-Eyes. Childe of Medon. Childe of Ventru. Childe of Ynosh. Childe of Caine.

You probably know about my lineage's history and turmoil more than I, as it took place in your... neck of the woods, as it were. He smiles.

Deception and betrayal can be spontaneous and swift or take the long game, decades if not centuries or eons in our kind's case. So forgive me for saying this...

I don't know whether to trust you or not. I have no clue what you are, or the goals of those who may pull your strings.

He pauses a moment as a mortal might take a breath, then continues.

I'm not asking you to explain as it probably wouldn't matter. But, know this... Alessandro Khadaji was an honorable mortal and is an honorable Cainite.

Based on what I've witnessed - your words and actions, whether it is truth or tradecraft... I will fight by your side, and carry you along the rooftops, to my own final death if needs be. I will not leave you behind, unless my sacrifice would be for naught.

If I can survive, I can fight.... if I can fight, I can punish... and destroy all those who bring harm to the ones I love and care for. It's that simple.

I like it when things are simple.

While the Doctor and Moses move on, Ranerius waits with patience. It is tempting to pry about, but why risk making an enemy at these trying times.
And there is always knowledge to be had from simple courtesy, "So, Signorina Lydia? If it is not too prying, I know little of your cainite heritage. It seems to me that I could pass our time waiting learning of it, if you would humor me?"

Moses shrugs, "I see. It is of course none of my business, but I believe that Arcadius is very much Narses man so it would not do well to speak ill of the dead in that conversation.

The same Niccolo, I did not realize I was not always speaking with the same Vampire.

Agreed, one can never have enough allies though Narses seemed to be the master of having just enough allies or at least recognizing when those allies were no longer allies.

That should be an easy enough task for one of my agents. The Giovanni operated a business there after all, if the operations are still disrupted, that will be your answer.

By tomorrow night I will make contact with Narses former spy master at your behest. I thank you for sharing what little vitae you have with me and I appreciate the respect you show to me Doctor". Moses bows.

Andrew moves to light his pipe, then eyes the door and places it back in his pocket, "No worthe tha' risk o' havin' them smell wot's a distinctive odour o' my crop".

He listens attentively to your soliloquy and responds, "Formally. Andrew the Hardy, Lord o' Moray. Childe o' Brian Stack. Tha' rest I dunno remember as ah've never met tha' particular Cainite, o' Clan Salubri. Fer what's it's worth.

Ah'm afraid yer inaccurate in yer beliefs 'bout mah past. Ah came here several weeks ago, still as flesh an blood o' those Mortals what hunt us now 'round the docks. Ah was here wit' a few other compatriots seekin' ta' curry favor wit' tha' Doge. Robert tha' Bruce sent mah companion as a diplomat.

Tha's when I came across mah Sire and mah journey inta' tha' Long Night began.

Truth be told, ah've a feelin' ya may be right. Ah dinnae know who pulls me strings either!" He pauses and collects his thoughts.

"Me Sire does no have tha' Faith any longer he had as a Mortal. Mine tho' burns strong, ah'll face tha' sun a'fore ah give up mah faith in the Lord my Savior Jesus Christ. Fergive me for tha' heresy as I know in yer books he's but another prophet". He grins a bit.

"Is mah Faith True because ah'm able ta' do things tha' are no natural to err kind? Is it an anomoly o' my Blood err am I a vessel fer God hisself, channelin' his will through me?

Does tha' mean tha' Mohamad was wrong an tha' Jesus is the way, the truth, the life? Err could it be tha' one o' yer faith c'n do what ah do? Err perhaps one who follow tha' old testiment strictly? Wha' 'bout if some Cainite worshippin' Odin c'n do tha' same?

The Setites claim tha' Set is a Cainite, doe tha' mean he was never a God or tha' he was a Cainite playin' at God in tha' sands o' Egypt? Hell, Mithras was a Pagan God I learned 'bout as a Mortal, then here I find he's a Ventrue!

These're the questions tha' twist me inta' knots.

Ah'm no askin' fer an answer err even yer opinion o' tha' subject. Ah guess it's mah long winded way o' sayin' tha' I too identify as the flesh and blood Man I was more so than... whatever it is we've become. If'n mah loyalty is to ye, then I'll no' abandon ye. I've no fear o' where my soul will be sheltered if I meet tha' Final Death knowin' what I did was what was right 'afore me own morals an tha' eyes o' tha' Lord.

Ah like things simple too, a few months ago it was easy. Tha' English needed ta' die so my people could be free, I was ready to die fer tha' cause, now I'm dead an I'm no sure tha' cause has meanin' to me any longer.

Life was simple, ah figured death would be too, turns out, ah was in error".

He pauses, "Crap, jus' remembered, mah' friend traveled wit' tha' Giovanni back ta' Scotland. I know I been no to trust tha' Setites but tha' Giovanni err in my eyes tha' worst, not countin' tha' Baali. Soul o' black was that one".

Lydia leads you to a chair and has you sit, she sits in your lap and strokes your hairline, 'I'm always interest in entertaining a handsome man Ranerius.

My Bloodline is named Lamia. My progenitor was a high priestess of Lilith the Dark Mother. The Cappadocian Methuselah, Lazarus, wished to plumb the secrets of the Priestesses ancient mystery cult.

He took her, within the Temple of the Dark Mother herself.

Perhaps she was indeed a descendant of Lilith herself or perhaps her will was simply so strong that although Embraced, she was not a Cappadocian but something else altogether. That first night she indeed shared secrets with Lazarus, secrets it is rumored so dark that the two never spoke again.

Japheth Cappadocious instead took her under his wing and recognized that her Embrace was a dividing line, unique. She was able to decide her own fate and she decided that our line would act as the protectors of the Cappadocian line, perhaps happy to have unburdened her soul to Lazarus of the darkness she held within we cast of secrets for steel.

Or perhaps it's all b*#*@%~@ and we are simply the raw chaos of Mother Lilith in the form of Cainite vitae and that is why we enjoy the lust of battle so much.

Either way, I am at the service of Doctor Cappelli until such time as he releases me or I fail in my duties to protect him from the Final Death.

What of you Ranerius Bernerius, what is it you fight for?"

Onfroi watches the interaction impassively as Geoffroi and Michele peruse the bookshelves of the Doctors home.

"A whole new bloodline offshoot is ..intriguing, regardless of the exactitude of it's origin. It makes me wonder if we Toreador have similar close branches as the Capaddocians have the Lamia." He ponders "Since my embrace, I have had to open my mind more and more to people of varying faiths. Varying outlooks. With typical Ventian style, I think my ways are best, of course." tongue in cheek, "But that does not mean other ways are without something to teach me. Lydia, I have sung the song of harmony, of unity, to a chamber full of people who grew bored with it on the first note. I can't help but think if they'd listened to me a bit more, we'd have been better braced to work together when all this came down. But whether I'm right or wrong there, it's done. I'm no warrior, not like you. I don't like to fight, but when I do? What I fight for? Well, you have been honest with me. I'll be so with you. I fight for Venice- For Beauty, for Music, and for Love. I do not know how well I'll fare, but I can tell you, for all my dislike of violence, I've killed to defend what I care for before. I'll do it again if i have to. I just hope by the time all this is done I still have my soul." He supposes he should not be so forth coming where other Cainites might hear it, but Onfroi surely already knew. Likely the worst they'll do is think him a sentimental fool.

They ALL have far more important matters on their mind.

An additional nod, "I believe the doctor is fortunate to have your assistance."

"Your offer is ... very kind and I might seek you out for such treasured lore, but for me? Harmony is not merely order, and it certainly isn't chaos. It is a blending, taking chaos and bringing a pattern to it, without letting that pattern be so binding as to still it. Beauty is born of many things, but order and chaos must be tools to build it, not the end result alone. Or so I believe." Yes, he is thoughtful. Oh yes, her attentions are flattering however insincere they may or may not be. Ranerius thinks on the Artisian and advice given in approaching her. And now, Lydia If it helped Zuana gain eternal night by my side, would it be a betrayal of her? Or a sacrifice? I need no Beast in me to realize a man might be drawn to much ill and tell himself it was for the better. Still, I must ponder if this is such a thing.

"I must in particular thank you for bringing bloodlines to my attention, clearly they too are cainites and worth getting to know."

I find it incredibly hard to believe the church could have orchestrated such an attack, without Narses hearing even a whisper of events to come...as is customary with kindred politics, either someone already wishes the Camarilla done or there were specific targets that were eliminated with that attack. The two of you stroll in a different direction and hope that the Hunters do not once again expand their search. You are both in luck and see no other soul for several minutes until you are about to exit the dock area when some of the Doge's men pause in front of you, there are five of them, the leader speaks.

"Due to recent troubles strangers I must ask, to where are you headed armed thusly?"

the Streets of Venice - (PC) Lorenzo, Ranerius, Michele, and Geoffroi (NPC) Lydia, Onfroi

Geoffroi takes the lead in the trip to Talisman's residence. It is at the far side of the city, near where the run down section of the city end near the eastern part of the lagoon. According to the Salubri, it is a run don old mansion, abandoned by the owners or at least not currently inhabited by the living.

The group again travels incognito. As this path will not take them by any place which the Hunters attacked they should be "safe". Those who are not safe are any who cross the coteries path for indeed you are all beginning to feel the pangs of hunger as never before...

Do you wish to RP the feed? Make Dexterity+Survival to hunt down prey physically? Manipulation or Charisma + Survival would be inapplicable as you all travel unseen. OR Do you wish to find the Haven of Talisman first?

That's a pretty s#&& roll for Lorenzo. I for finding the haven first.

Gustav seems less than amused by your insolence, but does not make further mention of it, "Ah, so you seek naked power?

I can appreciate the spirit of that desire.

You may well be correct, there may be forces at work arrayed against this Sect and the Mortals unwitting catspaws. However, Mortals unleased in such a manner tend to the unpredictable. Unintended consequences follow suit.

Very well, let us explore what has happened together. Have you retainers besides this creature? If not, I shall gather my men and meet you on the eastern rode to Venice in one hour. There is time aplenty to at least arrive in the city this night and establish lodgings. Clan Ventrue shall graciously allow you to stay in our temporary haven on the Lido until you can find more hospitable environs for your long term campaign.

Know that Narses has little trust for Clan Tremere, but perhaps you can be the first to convince him to place a Chantry on his little lagoon".

Let’s find the haven first then go from there unless an extremely easy opportunity arises.

the Streets of Venice - Alessandro Khadaji

Alessandro's sword is mostly covered, but perhaps the man did spy it.

It is exactly as you say, Sir. Strange times indeed. I was merely checking on my business holdings and could not risk ruffians or hooligan's shaking me down. Horrible what happens to our Venice.

I do hope that the Doge, yourself and those under your command prevail. To that end, if you allow me your name and where you are stationed... I will send a man to see how we can support your efforts.

I am Alessandro Khadaji. He bows formally.

I'd rather first try a diplomatic/charismatic route... Charisma 4 with Politics 3, Subterfuge 3, Ettiquette 2 or Leadership 2?

Geoffroi nods, "I am certain that this haven will be beneficial to us. If Talisman's Ghouls are there, perhaps they can procure us, well, the rest of you, the necessary vessels to slake your thirst".

Onfroi and Lydia remain silent, presumably in agreement, and you all proceed.

Geoffroi leads the group through the foreign quarter of the city, the slums if you will. Away from the power centers and the beauty of the city. There are more Mortals about here, though few slim pickings. The stench in this are is more pungent. Narrower streets and smaller canals with the refuse from apartments not cleaned nearly as efficiently as the rest of the city is the clear cause of the odor.

Not far from the point of contact of Michael Santo's haven based on Michele's recollection. But the group pushes on, crossing another bridge over one of the smaller canals to an area, still a bit run down, but with wider streets and thus, more air flow. Here there are homes instead of "tenements". Geoffroi walks farther still, in sight now across the water is another island, part of the Venetian lagoon but not connected by land, the Isle of San Michele.

Here near the edge of the water, is the haven of Talisman according to Geoffroi. The Manse is run down, but right on the water. Why it is not currently occupied is certainly odd, perhaps its proximity to possible thieves made the owners balk, or perhaps another Cainite made the residence home before Talisman took over. Regardless, all of the windows are thoroughly boarded and the place looks to hold at least several rooms.

Geoffroi heads to the side of the house and enters through a door which leads down! As you all follow, you see that there is a large basement with several doors, he heads to one door which opens to a set of stairs leading up. He walks back to the outside door and shuts it.

Onfroi pauses, "What sort of security measures are these for an Elder?"

Lydia shrugs, "Well, he's an arrogant bastard no?"

Geoffroi calls up, "Talisman, are you here?!"

You all hear the sound of a chair sliding against he floor and a single set of footsteps. At the top of the stairs appears a man of great beauty, powerfully built and holding a hooded lantern, he shuts part of it, beaming a light towards the group.

Michele staggers back as the brightness is too much for him, the man starts, "Sir Geoffroi, I do not remember the Master instructing us to allow you in, in his absence!"

Geoffroi retorts, "Talisman had to leave the city unexpectedly. I am now one of his ilk". He elongates his fangs, "Thus, I am no mere Knight any longer, but a master of the night".

The man pauses and nods, "Very well then. Enter, be welcome, you and your Cainite allies. The hospitality of Gesu is yours, it is a grave offense to break the hospitality of my Master. Be warned, he does not take such disrespect lightly". He closes the shade, dimming the light and steps away from the top of the stairs.

What do you all do?

Michele composes himself, starts stepping forward, and in a whispered tone "Well lets us see how well this goes."

One of the men in the group nods, "Captain, I am familiar with Khadaji Shipping. The employees are rarely trouble makers".

The Captain turns back to you, "Be that as it may, it has been several weeks now that the Doge has made the carrying of weapons by those unknown to us a high priority to investigate.

If every man with a business interest carried a weapon at all times, too many citizens would have more holes than they need".

Andrew steps in and pulls a scroll from the pocket of his kilt, "Mah friend carries tha' weapon upon mah writ".

The Captain steps forward and unfurls the scroll, he quickly scans it and rolls it back up, "Very well. Still, Signore' Khadaji, you should send one of you men to acquire your own writ, not rely on Lord Andrew's credential".

Andrew places the scroll back in his pocket, "Ah'm ta' blame in tha' ah figured as tha' writ protects four o' us, hisself was safe ta carry wit' me. Ah know fer tha' better now Captain".

The Doge's men move along and harass you no further and you both continue to your destination. Along the way in the pleasant evening you see the streets become less and less full of Mortals. The growing late hour, workday tomorrow, and what appears to be a bit of heavy handedness by the Doge's forces likely contribute to the thinning of the foot traffic.

You lead Andrew below the bridge Ponte Longo di Santa Marta where you last encountered the Nosferatu. There is of course, a small landing here.

Andrew turns to you, "So, how long da' we wait? Ah've ne'er made contact wit' tha' Nossies outside o' Elysium".

How long do you wait?

After nearly an hour of silence and listening to the sounds of the Mortals passing by overhead, you hear a disembodied voice, "Alessandro Khadaji. Andrew of Moray.

You have both survived the fires of the Inquisition, thus far anyway.

I assume you seek to speak with our Clan else why would you be standing beneath this bridge for so long this night?"

This is a voice you do not recognize Alessandro.

As the group reaches the top of the stairs, you see a short hallway leading to a kitchen. The other doorway, which used to head in the other direction, perhaps some sort of sitting area, is literally bricked up.

As Lorenzo enters the kitchen, he sees more clearly the man who first addressed them, his facial features seem familiar, but he cannot quite figure out the likeness...

Wits+Politics DC 7 - 1 success:
You know the face after studying for a few moments, it is an exact likeness as the faces on the statues behind Narses throne in Elysium.

The other is almost an exact duplicate of Talisman himself, but not quite as stunning looking. That Ghoul sits at the table, lethargic.

The more active one, addresses your question Lorenzo, "The same laws that hold in the domains of the east my Lord".

I mean no offense, but I do not recognize the voice.

Things are quite different this night then they were several nights ago Alessandro, that is for certain. In fact, nothing is any longer certain. I know now how those of Rome and Constantinople felt.

It is terrifying and liberating all at once. Of course, I am sure, for us, nothing will change.

You no doubt seek opportunity in the chaos, with who are you aligned or are you striking out on your own?"

The voice is certainly not the same Niccolo you spoke with last time.

While not as vulnerable as the setite, the Toreador's keen senses also have him wincing when light is flooded about him. He is glad it is brief.

He makes sure his shoes are as clean as possible, before entering.

A different Niccolo, then? The voice is different. Or has something changed with you?

If you share with me this knowledge of how the great cities fell, perhaps we can stop history from repeating itself, here.

I am grievously ignorant of the factions at play... or rather war, at this time. If you would enumerate them, I'll gladly and honestly tell you how I stand with or against each.

Ultimately, though... you should already know that I stand with Venice.

He pauses for what would be a mortal breath.

Currently, I seek to prove what I once promised... that I am ally to the Nosferatu. I wish to secure the waterway rights, I'd previously discussed with a voice sharing this disembodied quality.

If, you know the whereabouts of one Lorenzo Cappelli, that could help facilitate my efforts. And, as we are aligned, I think... in the matter, the information may be freely shared.

He gave us no such instructions, but we are aware that Geoffroi de Clairvaux is an agent of the Master.

His return should be any day now, he stated he would return the same night he left us, on Monday. It is unusual for him to be so late, but he does take to wanderings on occasion".

But perhaps, perhaps, you are not the typical Patrician? You have indeed offered to aid us in the waterways dispute, I suspect the madness of the past several nights has prevented you from pursuing this on our behalf.

Still, the offer of something is the same as nothing. What information can you offer to me that I should provide to you something I know?"

Andrew responds, "Ah'm all fer ya' gettin' what's rightfully yers, but under tha' current circumstance, ah'd suspect tha' mutual co-opration would be in order as ta' no be annihilated in err beds, err coffins, err cisterns err wh'rever it is we choose ta' pass tha' day".
